Jayen had finished his council duties for the day and decided to do something different. Usually in his free time he would either do some studying or do some training. It had come to his attention that some pride members considered his standoffish and hard to approach. He couldn't even start to understand where they would get the idea from.

However, being on the council meant that the pride members needed to feel comfortable approaching him. He had been advised to get better acquainted with the pride members.

His search for someone to talk to lead him to the meditation pond. There was already some pride members around. He sat down quietly and watched to see if any of the other pride members wanted to talk to him. The last thing he wanted to do was disturb someone while they were working or training. He had been interrupted numerous times while doing his studies to understand not to bug someone while they were busy.

He bent his head down and took a drink from the water. Part of why he needed to socialize was that the council wanted him to get a small team together to do some research on some of the large artifacts found near the boarder of the pride. He needed a team that could protect each other, but were knowledgeable enough to help figure out what the artifacts were from. If he could find just a couple pride members that fit the role, he could relax a little.

Jayen finished his drink before looking up. He gave a soft smile to Chionesu. “Hello Knight Chionesu.” He greeted with a nod of his head. “In fact, I can use some help. Specifically I could use someone of your expertise.”

It was a rarity for him to ask for help. Usually it was another council member who got the teams together. “I have been tasked by the council to form a small team to go to the border and do some research on some newly found artifacts. If you are interested, I would be very grateful to have you on the team.”

If Chionesu agreed, he would be just a little closer to finishing is task. He would have to find a couple more interested Jedi, but at least he would make some headway.

“That is wonderful.” Jayen responded with smile. He knew that the mission would be worth while, that their group would gather the necessary information from the artifact. “I am glad to have you on board my team. I am sure that you will find the artifacts interesting.”

Now he just needed a couple more Jedi to bring along and they would be ready to go. “This will be my first major mission I will be leading,” he went on to explain. “Usually the council would send a master to be the leader, but this is a special occasion.” The border had become increasingly more dangerous for the Jedi. Not only did they have to worry about the Sith, but on occasion they would have to deal with outsiders who did not understand their ways who would violate their land.

“Have you been on a mission before?” he asked curiously. It was a question he should have asked earlier, but he had forgotten about it. A good leader should know the experience of his team after all.

Jayen shook his head. “I am sure that you time in the rogue land will prove beneficial to the team. I cannot fault you for lacking experience, especially since I am new at leading. This will be a perfect learning experience for us both.” He felt confident in Chionesu, just as the rest of the council felt confident in him.

“My hope for the rest of the team is that we will have some diversity. I will seek out a guardian and a healer. It is better to be prepared I think.” He hoped that the healer wouldn't have to use their specialized skills on the mission. The last thing he wanted was for any of his group to get injured.

“Do you have any questions about the mission?” Jayen asked.

“We will be going to the northern border of the pride. The trip will last a couple days. We need time to uncover and research the artifacts.” Jayen explained. He took a moment to think about the supplies. “Well, I think the most important thing to bring is some sort of pouch to help carry some small artifacts as well as anything we might find that is interesting. Other than that, anything you think would be useful on the trip, feel free to bring it.”

It would be interesting what they would end up finding at the site. He hoped that they would gain some sort of knowledge from the items and be able to bring something small back for the other Jedi to examine.

“Once I have the rest of the team picked out, I will have you notified of when we will be meeting and setting off on this mission. I will do my best to make sure you have plenty of notice before the quest begins.”
