Steadily, Aaricia was going further and further with her explorations. Her little map was filling with sketches, though her confidence wavered. Some days, she was sure she would find a way to get out of Zena with her mother and her best friend. Other days, like today... she wondered how she could expect to do it on her own. The border was so far away. She had no idea how much further she had to go.
The world was so big in her limited experience, and reaching a safer place seemed almost out of reach.
Along one of the wider mountain paths, she took a break under one of the heavy trees. She sipped at water, looking through her sketches of the various paths she'd found. The world was so big, and she was so small...

Zumei didn't usually go out too far without some sort of protection, but she figured having Sumari around with her was enough to keep her safe for the time being. The raptrix was a force to be reckoned with after all, what with the big feathery wings and sharp teeth. She would honestly be surprised if anyone decided to come near, especially since Sumari was a particularly rowdy raptrix. It didn't take either of them long to find their way down winding paths until she came upon the small girl, curious to see why someone would want to be all the way out there with no supervision. The raptrix was simply excited to see another living thing. Bounding toward the girl, Zumei stumbled as she attempted to clutch onto the large beast. "Sumari no! Sumari stooooop," she grunted, tugging harder on her pet.

Lost in her sketches, Aaricia sighed softly. What if her hopes were too big for her abilities? What if..?
Her thoughts her interrupted by a nearby yell and struggle. She looked up, golden eyes widening as a big raptrix seemed to be bounding toward her. With the large body and wide wings and billowing snow, she couldn't even see the young lady trying to hold the animal back! She let out a surprised shriek and spun to dart behind the tree she'd been leaning against, peeking slightly around the trunk back at the excited creature.

Sumari skidded to a stop in front of the smaller girl, spinning around in place excitedly as Zumei stumbled after the raptrix in a failed attempted to stop the beast. It was only then that she noticed Aaricia hiding behind the tree and instantly felt ashamed that her monstrosity of a pet had gotten so out of hand. "I am really really sorry. This....over sized fur ball doesn't know how to behave," the wind woman sighed, tilting her head at the younger girl. She was a bit odd looking, but it didn't necessarily bother her. She was really more curious of her lineage than anything. "So kid, what spawned you?" she grinned, leaning up against Sumari once she'd gotten the beast under control.

While she kept hiding behind the tree, Aaricia felt a little spark of delight as well, now that she could see what had been charging at her. A raptrix! ..and it was being rather cute.
Her brow rose when the woman popped out from behind the beast, and she found herself giggling. She'd never seen a Raptrix called a 'furball' before. So silly! "It's okay," she replied, slowly coming out a little further from behind the tree. The woman clearly wasn't of the ice clans... was it Sauti?
The question thrown at her made her look up at the woman with an utterly perplexed expression. Spawned? That meant.. what she came from, right? "Um... My mama?" she asked more than answered, quite uncertain of how to reply.

"Well obviously, but really I meant what race are you. Fire maybe? Something more than that? Not that it matters too much I guess, just curious, y'know? Generally only see ice folk and wind folk around these parts," Zumei nodded, sighing as her raptrix circled around the younger girl before plopping down in front of her. "The furball wants to play. In case you're curious." One of these days she would get a handle on the beast, but today was not that today. She really was just glad the raptrix was somewhat behaving.
