The breeze was amazing this morning as a little mare poked her head out the mouth of a cave, She laughed in spite of herself stepping forward as her delicate three set wings danced along their beautiful sculpted edges. Playfully she looked around for her mate then frowned noticing he wasn't anywhere to be found. Sighing for a moment she decided to step forward and closed her eyes. As the next breeze playfully filled her senses with the nearby salted sea the mare opened her wings fully lifting herself into the breeze. Laughter could be heard as she glided along the current as her green tresses followed behind her like three birds keeping time. The bangs were wrapped in strange clothes that carried peculiar designs keeping them neatly in place as she let the breeze carry her to wherever. There was no need to worry for this island had been traversed well by her mate assuring her there was no threats to destroy their lovely adventure.
She laughed again just flitting along the breeze because it was so warm and inviting here. For a moment she mused about bringing her children to this amazing place. Yes, there was rainfalls but the cave was enough shelter till the bloated clouds became not so cranky. She pictured them crying for no reason but after their fits they would smile again and become happy. Today was simply that as she reminisced herself a dandelion puff just floating along in the wind. Only once or twice did she ever have to flutter her wings for control. It was smooth sailing as she just followed along where the currents lead her to that being the Sea that was far below. The beach was in her distance so she fluttered her wings a little harder then floated downward till at last she touched upon the sand. She always loved that feeling as the sand sunk around her tiny hooves making a soft crunch that made her laugh. One step, then another, and again she laughed hearing the crunch under her hooves. On closer inspection the little flutter mare known as Feena realized that sand was mostly made up of shell fragments. The sand was so white here with a hint of pink hues that it was a refreshing getaway. Playfully she danced in the shells and stones laughing all the way as she enjoyed herself. Once she got closer to the point where the tide came in her hooves made a sopping noise as they sunk in a little more. She always noted the difference the salt water saturating sand felt like once you walked within both.
Trotting over to the waves as they slowly moved inward and back again her eyes scanned the ground carefully. Every so often the sea openly gave one her favored treasures. But, you had to be alert to find them for in a blink of an eye they'd slowly slip back out to the sea. Her gaze was never wavering because some of the most remarkable treasures she found were gifted from the sea. Be they shells, trinkets, or even strange unfathomable things she loved the generosity of the ocean. Walking carefully along the shoreline she spied a gorgeous shell whose colors reminded her of a sunrise. Bending her head downward she picked it up carefully in her teeth then washed the shell with the incoming foaming waves. The taste was never too inviting but she knew it was the ocean's life force within the water. There had even been rumors this is the very thing that kept most creatures alive and well within the depths far below.
Carefully without any pressure on the shell she placed it within the bag she had tied to her mane, "I wonder what other treasures I'll find today." she mused looking out over the neverending body of water. If only Celendria and her herd could see this paradise and feel as joyous as Feena was this day.

The journey had been difficult and still there was an eternity to wade through till you find your sanctuary in dreams.
It had been years till freedom found her, a savior in the mysterious guise of an owl. But not just any owl mind you. No this owl possibly sent from the heavens themselves was a gift to her. With words of promise and hope she spread her golden wings and she left for a place unknown. Only whispers in hushed tones that were almost coded secretly filled her senses and goals in her journey. She had known nothing of other lands nor did she know what fates weaved in her tale as she pushed onward day after day. Once the sands were far behind she faced an even greater ocean that was nothing but water. The owl spoke in a soft tone that this was the next step in her journey but, her hopes failed her. She was born of the desert so the endless ocean while being breathtaking was also terrifying even to one as strong as she was. The owl whispered again to follow in which the golden Princess did as she was beckoned to do so. Many things were strange like induced smells of spices and fragrance as she made her way through this maze stepping lightly so her golden hooves wouldn't be chipped. The road was uneven as she made her way behind the back of the tents.
For a moment she paused to catch a gaze at an auction that was going on. Her ears swiveled forward as she noticed some of the other mares that she had grown with in that place. These creatures were so cold, loud, and cruel as the other mare screamed from a whip that hit her hindquarters. Lowering her head she breathed in sympathy and continued to follow the owl keeping out of sight. When her destination in the first quest had been reached she looked confused, "Where will this thing take us?" she queried with a hint of uncertainty. The owl did not reply only motioned her to board the strange thing that sat idle above the depth of water. Another of those cruel creatures opened their palm and offered her an apple. She refused it quickly and stepped upon the floating device which she'd learn was called a boat. Making her way back into the creaking boards her eyes were wide with fear but, once again the owl assured her she was safe. As the boat made a whistle it slowly pulled from the dock and headed out to the unknown. By now the shouting that she heard earlier had muffled to the creaking of the boat making its way out to the deep waters. Only the rocking of the boat and creaking wood filled her ears pulling her into a slumber as her wings wrapped around her for protection. The owl sat upon the perch above her looking outward while she slept.
Her eyes opened quickly wondering how long she had been asleep. Quickly she got herself up on her stuff legs as her wings fanned out in relief. Walking steadily at a quick pace the mare made her way onto the deck where she noted the water all around them. The creature that had tried to feed her an apple made clicking noises holding out his hand with sugar this time.
"Go on Iset. this one is not like your captors. You can trust him" ,responded the owl who had joined her.
"Where are we Irisi? Where are we going?" the mare asked with a tilt of her head as the ocean breeze played through her senses and dark tresses.
"Freedom. Is all you need to know right now. Your journey is far from over and will begin again" the owl nodded as she spread her wings in a stretch as well as her beak that opened widely with a yawn. She wasn't fond of daytime but her companion needed someone to watch over her.

"Hello there", came a voice that wasn't too loud nor too soft. It came from the ocean further down where a cove began.
Feena's ears perked up hearing this voice and walked slowly toward it. She loved new things of course including meeting others. It could be a trap but she wasn't in any danger here. Feena was quite proud of herself dealing in knowledge of many things. You had to after all being an adventurer because one day it would solve a problem or protect your life. As she stepped over cautiously toward the one calling her she thought of her children and how they were faring. As each hoof sinked in a bit more she felt that same joy making her way to the cove.
"Over here! Don't be shy I don't bite!" came the voice again more excited this time.
Feena's ear flicked in that direction and she decided to let things to fate. Trotting over she noted the opening to the cove which was a beautiful lagoon setting. The waters were so aqua and clear you had to wonder how deep that pool really was. "Hello?" she asked with a tilt of her head, "I heard you call to me? Are you there"? She frowned a little till she saw something swimming around in the pool. It was rather large which made her uncertain backing up a little. Leaning in closer her eyes caught sight of a horse swimming in the deep pool that was tranquil and deep. Then it occurred to her what creature for the first time as it broke through the surface peering up at her. "Ah hello there. You went under the water and I didn't see you till now". The flutter felt embarrassed but she knew this creature wasn't mean nor would it cause her harm if she talked a while. Afterall, Feena loved meeting new creatures and new faces.
The mer poked her head up to be greeted by a small horse with fascinating wings. She spent most of her time in the sea and waterways to the lands that she rarely met anyone nor made many friends. Swishing her tail she kept herself steady as she met this newcomer of the island. "I'm Amarintine the adventurer of the seas". Curiously she waited for the other's introduction as well. "I usually come here when the water is rough or calm as it is today. It's my favorite hunting grounds you might say for some of the most amazing treasures. It's always a treat to find something new when you're feeling down. Hey I saw you pick up a shell on the beach line. I'll show you something... be back in a moment" she announced before swimming away into the deep pool.
Feena smiled joyfully meeting this new creature that announced herself to be an adventurer like herself. The mare was mostly white like the inside of a shell while her hair was a deep red leaving her wondrous and amusing all in the same. Feena guessed this was why the other mare was so happy to meet her. Sometimes traveling on your own must be tough keeping watch for enemies and dangers that lurked around you. Especially, in the ocean where sharks and other hazards made their home. "I'm Feena who is an adventurer of anywhere!" she laughed in spite of herself. "Seriously though I am an adventurer. This is the first time I've ever visited an island this far with Yuuri." Her eyes looked off into the distance then back to the mer as she dived off into the lagoon and vanished.
In a few minutes later Amarintine appeared again with a back that looked like it could weigh a ton. Heaving it up on the sandy shore where Feena stood she nudged it toward her, "Out here in the isles we welcome travelers and friends alike. Go on and choose something. Doesn't matter what because anything from the sea is unique and beautiful.". She smiled looking up at the smaller mare marveling in her size being that of a small foal with a bit more height. "Feena is a pretty name. Sorry I swam off in a rush but I had to gift you something". She looked at the other mare nodding her head before she spoke again, "So those wings how high can you fly with them? They look really delicate might I add. It reminds me of leaves almost from the trees on land". The mer hoped she wasn't being too direct or asking that many questions she just wanted to learn about this pretty new mare more.
Feena's eye grew wide when the bag was presented in front oh her leaving her curiosity to wonder what was hiding inside. "Thank you. I was found abandoned and raised by my mother Saissis when I emerged from my basket. I'm not sure what my name means but I like it". Her eyes turned to the bag noticing the nod from her new friend then nosed the bag till she could reach its contents. A gasp came from her voice as she pulled out various shells, long lost treasures, and numerous things that carried not only beauty but priceless value. "These are...." she spoke breathless wondering why this new friend would offer such amazing trinkets and artifacts worthy of kings and queens.
The mer smiled as the flutter mare showed great surprise, "Haha serious pick what you want. Those silly two-leggers make a game of tossing things into the sea. I just find them and place them in a treasure trove near here. My mindset is much like an ambitious mermaid but my heart is much bigger. I believe in sharing afterall." She waited patiently watching to see which treasure the winged little mare would pick. The mer knew many personalities in her travels so sharing her gifts would let her learn who really stood in front of her. As the waves rocked gently around her she laughed joyfully for she had met a land err sky walker that actually was worth granting her gifts to.

The tall mare graced with many wings toned in gold noted the boat had stopped far from the nightmare she had left behind. She breathed in the air then swished her braided tail followed by a flick of her ear. The boat had docked on this large island remaining silent now. The only thing the mare could zone in on was the constant sway of the sea itself. The strong scent of salt filled her head as well as her lungs. While it seemed the same the air here was a bit cooler and it felt rather nice.
"Irisi. Is this the beginning? The quest you spoke of?" she asked with a strange confusion to expression as she stood on the deck of the boat that docked close to the beach.
"Hurry now Iset. This vessel will be leaving soon. We must exit and move forward into the island". The owl hooted softly nudging her companion to leap forward and disappear into the brush that would hide them well. "Two-leggers aren't ever to be trusted if only in an Egyptian moon.
"You make no sense but you haven't lead me astray yet. Very well...." she nodded then backed away from the edge of the boat. Tossing her head her delicate hooves danced along the wooden deck in a clip-clop noise then she took flight before reaching the edge. Moving her large unique wings she pulled herself high into the sky then glided down into the heart of the island that was populated with growing trees she'd never encountered before. Once her feet hit the ground she walked slowly looking around her for Irisi. "This is all strange but it feels safe I'm certain".
A flapping was heard then quieted behind her revealing the brightly colored wings of her companion. "Yes you are safe now. Though the danger may still surface. Come, we must get to the other side of the island before the darkness sets in.
The mare swiveled her ears picking up the sound of fresh running water nearby. She eagerly plunged her muzzle in drinking deeply. This wasn't stagnant well water she was used to rather it was fresh and vitalizing as it cooled her parched throat and wakened her senses. "I can not believe this! This water is so pure and delicious. Tell me Irisi what is this place? I know you said it was the beginning of my quest but nothing more. Come now tell me what is this wondrous place?
The owl hooted in a chuckle to herself seeing the mare's curiosity overcome her fear, "Are we a mare or a foal Iset? Haha I shall tell you. This island is known as Paradise Cove and it's a mystery to most two-leggers. Those jagged rocks kept them from coming ashore. Be thankful". The owl looked back occasionally wondering if the two-leggers were trying to find them. She wasn't completely honest when they offered Iset treats. These were smugglers would of sold the mare for a King's ransom then steal other Equines to follow the same routine. While Iset wasn't in complete trouble she could of gotten on a much nastier boat with evil two-leggers. Irisi was just glad she picked the boat that seemed the safest.
Iset stopped looking back at the owl, "You didn't know did you? The right boat to lead us to safety. You just let the Gods decide our fate." The thought surely wasn't too satisfying knowing she could have been in worse luck than her original captors. She snorted then walked a little further away, "I can't blame you really. You acted on instinct before I was sold in that auction. Thank you".
Irisi flew over to land on Iset's back, "It was a split decision really. You have a definite future that couldn't be changed if you were sold off like the others. Those poor mares couldn't even touch your bloodline. That's why you were never whipped nor starved. You are worthy of being a King's mate and the rightful mother to his future heirs". She only flexed her claws a slight bit before gently settling herself into position. "If you need me I shall be here. I haven't slept for a day and I can barely stay awake."
The mare laughed with a soft gesture, "In any case here we are" she nodded. As her feet sunk into the cool dirt she stifled a yawn herself. Seeing a clearing that was near a running stream she smiled, "We'll rest here Irisi. If I do happen to pass out please keep an ear open". Bending her legs beneath her she went downward under a low hanging palm and closed her eyes.
Irisi was of course a very light sleeper letting one of her eyes stay partially open to watch her companion listening for danger. All that mattered to her was their safety after hearing the shrieks of the men when she was found to be missing. Hopefully they would abandon seeking her out for this island was treacherous to the likes of thieves and scoundrels. Yawning she gave a small hoot then drifted off into her own form of sleep. The single eye still partially open forever watching for danger as the once royal court mare drifted off into her own slumber.

The day was amazingly beautiful as the flutter stood there conversing with the mer as if they'd known each other ages ago. Each trinket that had been scooped from the sea was in its own right treasure no matter what priceless value or none at all it held. Some glittered while others simply shined lying there along the edge of the water. The waves strangely were calm as she still mused how the mer was being rocked gently back and forth. Clearing her mind she closed her eyes letting each treasure speak if only in a whisper in her ear. With a few minutes decision Feena nodded then replied, "This one" she smiled reopening her eyes as she nosed the shell that had somehow embedded itself with a gemstone as green-blue as the water was around her in the cove. "I'm not choosing this for myself mind you. It's for my mother whom I forever give great gratitude and appreciation to. This is why I choose for her not myself". The flutter smiled gratefully as she picked up the embedded shell and placed it carefully in her bag. She then paused and dug in her other bag with her muzzle. Carefully, she pulled out a warming stone the maiden Tirranna had sent off with them for their long journey. "It's not much but I'd like to give you something as well. It's a warming stone for the colder weather if we encounter it in our travels. The two-legger polishes them herself so they have a very pretty luster to them."
Curiously, the sea born mare watched the flutter with eager eyes never letting her sight betray her. The flutter's words about her mother were genuine which made the other feel quite special being in this small mare's presence. Once she had chosen her desired gift the mer beamed with happiness that overtook her entire being at that moment in time, "Yes! I knew somehow you were selfless in how you held yourself. I hope your mother enjoys her gift". Seeing the smaller winged mare pick up the treasure carefully as she placed in her woven bag it brought much pride and happiness to the sea-born mare. What she wasn't expecting the the gift in return from the mainland. Her eyes that shimmered already beamed widely at the polished warming stone Feena was gifting her in return. "For me? Are you sure you won't be needing such a treasure as this?!" Her reply was a bit flabbergasted in shock as she took the stone that granted to her. "Give me a moment please" she replied as held the stone in her mouth then dived in the lagoon.
Such a precious gift had to be kept safe which gave her thought to placing it in her grotto a mile from the lagoon itself. It was a hidden grotto from predators and the like keeping her safe to come and go as she pleased. Nosing a steel contraption open that would never move even in the strongest of currents she placed her gift upon a pillow of sea kelp that grew through the device she'd found. Once it was safe she closed the lid with her nose then quickly propelled herself back to the lagoon. Usually, time had no meaning in this world the mer lived within but rudeness was never appreciated. About ten minutes later she returned to the surface of the lagoon, "A gift that is given is precious and must always be cherished. I placed it safe in my grotto so nothing shall ever bring it harm". Her voice was full of happiness as she watched the flutter with a whimsical manner.
What had seemed to be ten minutes or so sparked a curiosity that fluttered in the winged mare's mind. The mer had dived in so fast she wondered what the female had thought about when her slender tail splashed into the depths of the water and vanished. Feena pondered to herself looking downward at the treasure lying on the lagoon beach where all this stuff came from. Could it have been discarded by uncaring two-leggers from the other countries perhaps? Letting her mind sink into queries and answers allowed her senses to not realize that the mer returned once again. When she realized where the female had scurried off to she relaxed a bit. "Indeed" she responded watching the other with brilliant green eyes. "Wow! you really do swim fast Amarintine." She blinked realizing her new friend had returned so fast. She wasn't going to lie of the envious feeling she felt knowing this creature could visit worlds unknown to the land dwellers. Whereas, she also pondered the curiosity the mer had to explore the land and the sky that wasn't as endless as the oceans or seas. "Knowing we're both adventurers what is your plan for today? Will you go exploring or simply float along the surface taking in the sun warming your belly?" The thought sounded relaxing to her as she pictured herself just floating along under the sun feeling its warming effect. It reminded her of the breezes in summer she sometimes just floated along taking her anywhere her heart desired or even further.
The mer smiled back with a laughter that sounded like the sea itself, "Wherever the day takes me of course" She looked at the flutter mare with a wink knowing it could be a little of both hobbies if she wished it possible. Perhaps she would spend hours digging for treasure then relax in the sea's surface unhindered just floating about to wherever she ended up. Her thoughts though intrigued her to look lovingly at Feena's wings as she too could float on the air like Amarantine had witnessed before this fateful meeting. What was it like to just open your wings and float along the currents she wondered. While the water had such a relaxing motion was it possible that the air that playfully moved around her was a different feeling as you glided along its outstretched surface. It was all a mystery to the mer knowing water from the moment she had been born into this world.
"And you adventurer of the sky... will you travel to far heights or just float along the currents of the breeze" she asked with a big smile that painted her muzzle causing her eyes to twinkle even more. "It seems were are very much different yet so very much alike". She mused in the fact how two different souls could live lives so similar being born of different worlds.
Feena paused thinking, "I guess the same could be in reply for my day as well. Though, I need to meet up with my mate at some point today. He's been gone since early this morning so Yuuri should be back soon hopefully." She fidgeted a little feeling a pang of loss even when he was gone a short period of time. This island was really big which was relaxing but there could also be dangers lurking from the other lands two-leggers inhabited. Simple luxury couldn't be overlooked in the face of things that were never understood or abused by others. "Would you like to help me find him? I mean we can stick to the water's edge if you can seek more ground that way. I'll float above you so if either of us sees a big white stallion dressed in black cloths and smoke tipped wings we can let each other know.

The morning had slipped to midday as the stallion went on a search to find a gift for his beloved mate. He had scoured this land for a good two hours tops making sure his mate wasn't in any danger. It was secluded enough he was certain plus there were jagged rocks around the front bend that kept outsiders deterred from entering the island itself. He moved freely through the tall grasses without fear of anything this day. Occasionally, he would drink from the streams and continue his journey. Alongside his shoulder he carried a few bags that lied unhindered attached with woven cords around his neck. There he kept his supplies, treasures, and other necessities needed in the journey and relaxation his mate and him had planned. Taking a moment he drank deeply from a stream closing his eyes. A somber yet beautiful memory crossed his mind of her image standing there looking back at him as the sun filtered through her translucent wings. Small in stature yet beautiful with a fiery passion she made his entire world rotate in perfect motion. He didn't think much of anything else around him until he noted a pair foreign eyes watching him. Slowly he brought his head up taking in a golden owl that was keeping vigil of his every move. Its wings were painted in the primary colors as it gazed back at him unblinking. Slowly he back away then spoke, "I'm sorry is this someone else's island?" The thought had never occurred to him others lived here in this residence.
The owl sat there her talons gripping the branch to hold her balance. Eyes slowly blinking before she spoke in a strange thick accent, "That I do not know. You have a strange scent compared to what I am used to. Where are you from?" Her voice had interest yet she showed no interest in harming him unless he gave reason for action.
The stallion perked a brow looking at the owl. He had no inkling where she was from nor what accent her speech was from, "From the mainland along with' , he paused wondering about Feena's safety. This foreign owl made him wary but also curious to why she was here instead of wherever, "myself actually" he replied quickly, "I'm just out scouting for danger to report to the mainland".
The owl looked at him with wide eyes, "I see. Yes well there may be trouble soon here. We apologize for that".
"We do?" came the voice of a tired mare that came into view. She like her counterpart had a thick accent of the desert dwellers much like someone Yuuri remembered back home. She looked shocked there was another stallion on the isle maybe intimidated if she were a commoner. "Yes. We've brought trouble to this island I'm afraid. I hadn't realized it till Irisi had mentioned it in our quick escape. I am thankful though that we did". The tall slender mare looked at the stallion though in curious fashion, "Your tongue. You are not from the land of Sand are you? Your build suggests you are of Western descent perhaps or what I've learned from my kind when I being reared to be the consort of the Pharaoh. But, let's not dwell upon the past... shall we?"
The owl ruffled her feathers, "If they do make it around the rocks I'm afraid we may have to hurry to the far side of the island. They carry weapons and don't give up chase for prizes that make their eyes wide".
These females definitely weren't from places he had visited that's for sure. Their accent was much like Atem's he was sure of it but it quickly slipped his mind to even speak of it. "Trouble?" this made his eyes darken as the necklace curiously glowed without warning accompanied by a certain air around them. "Feena....Please be safe" he murmured with concern. Then his mind trained his companions back in sight, "Western land? Honestly, I awoke one day in this world per say but I suppose its west from the island we're standing upon. I'm Yuuri.... Yuuri Shibuya. Since you don't seem like a threat would I'll say my mate is on this island as well. If there is danger I'd rather not have it find her without my protection." His voice deepened a little as his hand flew up sharply scenting the air. Something loud sounded that cracked through the brambles and forest that made him unsettled.
"Yuuri...." it sounded off her tongue in a complex matter, "I am Iset and this lovely owl is Irisi. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Her ears swiveled forward curiously. So he did have a mate after all in which he did well keeping her a secret. She looked upwind of them as her eyes flashed a bit of concern, "Yes. we should make way to the opposite end of the island. The traders do not give up so easily on us if they know our blood is that of rubies." Looking at the owl she nodded, "Let us make haste to a safer area then converse more... Yuuri".
The sound of the island splintering made her wings flare up in alarm, "Sooner the better I think".
The owl nodded stretching her wings that flapped till they brought her into flight, "They aren't that close yet but if we persist staying here we will be caught. Those creatures of man are nothing to trifle with. Follow me" she called out in her own owl tongue which Iset understood more than Yuuri would.
The mare quickly followed after vowing not to loose her companion to the hunters heavy on their trails. She was limber and strong footed so her footfalls could carry her easily to a place of safety. She turned to notice the heavy footed winged stallion was following them without haste. She also noted that his concern of his mate had made his presence darker somehow as that pendent around his neck glowed. It was strange but sand magic wasn't uncommon within the world. Perhaps he was blessed by the deities themselves as she was. She subtly thought to herself as her hooves moved her quickly if his mate was truly okay. She spooked only a little when the garble of two-leggers brought the sound in the wind of more than one. The trader had somehow alerted her original owners of her escape. Would they beat her she wondered or even sell off to an unspeakable other entity that would cause her harm? She actually felt her withers prickle with sweat hoping these men did not find Yuuri's mate. She was not royal blood as Iset was meaning they could be put to death or sold off for flesh.
She looked forlornly at Yuuri then kept her gaze on the owl taking them further in the island. She only hoped her search was not in vain for the Pharaoh had left the Sands many years ago. He would have perished by now or worse found another in false truth that she had been killed. It was way too much information to bear fleeing for her life to be concerned if her betrothed mate still even thought about her.
Then the second shot fired off closer as the wild birds scattered in terror.
The royal blooded mare someday to be a queen moved more swiftly now praying to her Gods for salvation and freedom.
Yuuri hadn't understood the owl's tongue yet instantly he followed her faithful guidance thundering through the brush to reach Feena. Every ounce of his being settled into a furious trot that would soon become a gallop to finally be by her side, "Please be safe Feena. If they even try to harm you I will destroy them". His pendent now danced with its grow making the stallion even more stronger than before. It seemed his mind was taken over by the mindset of the protector and rightfully so.

The day seemed almost set in a dream state as the water kept following ebb and flow slowly yet efficiently. Not a single cloud in the sky either leaving a whisper of impending rain. Simply two spirits of the same essence that enjoyed life itself within their daily routine. Nothing was more pure or satisfying seeing adoration from another's eyes as they looked in your own. The mer whose skin resembled fur beamed, "Of course my friend! How could I not want to help you find your soulmate. This is as close as I can get to the shoreline though doesn't mean I can't swim out further and watch for him." she nodded with a smile, "I hope to meet him as well!" she called out using her fins to push her out to sea. A a propeller moves a vessel so did the mer's tail bringing her out to the other shore edge. Surely, there stood the flutter mare waiting patiently. It wasn't too difficult to recognize the worriment that darkened her face a little. She noted in her own thoughts that her ideals would be identical to the other mare's feelings if someone beloved were missing.
The flutter mare's hooves danced but it was a preoccupied dance as she raced out of the lagoon cove to meet Amarantine on the other side. She paused airing her wings as she delicately spread them out like a fan. The ocean breeze held a perfect current which she would glide on and gain leverage to gaze upon the higher cliffs edge. As the seaside mare came into view Feena beamed with a smile, "You know... You're really fast in the water Amarintine." With a nod she stood tall as the breeze danced around her lightweight wings. Laughing she let the currents lift her up steadying herself as she floated along the breeze. Taking her back to foal hood she remembered the tactics that seemed nearly impossible to attempt this feat. Once a spill or a tumble but patience was always the key. Her mother was brilliance in itself even though she was tranquil and never overbearing as her teacher. Saissis always seemed to know the right things leading Feena into adulthood and so on. As she glided along the breeze the flutter noted her companion swimming out in the water looking upward for any signs of Feena's mate. Shaking her head Feena corrected her daydreaming and focused on her task at hand.
Spreading her wings out more she lifted herself into the varying currents as her green tresses swirled behind her. "Yuuri..... it's nearly midday. I know I shouldn't worry over you but, this day something feels distracted in my mind. I just don't like it when you disappear for so long in a strange place." She closed her eyes following the currents listening for hoof or wing beats along the wind. "Please Yuuri..... I'm starting to get antsy. If you're off gem hunting without me...".
Somewhere in the distance a loud noise reached her which seemed like a dream. Merely an echo but it was enough to awaken her senses to something threatening, "Yuuri?" she shivered from her withers to her rump. "Please.... please let nothing have happened to you!"

The garble of creatures called men were both disturbing and intriguing to those with a higher conscience. This particular moment reveled fear and concern whitening out the curiosity. The owl of course was intrigued by many things but her unwavering eyes always made her personality indifferent. She was never really apologetic for things she couldn't gather insight on. In truth Irisi was wise like most other owls but at first glance you'd never recognize the signs. Another shot rang out again this time bringing something worse with its welcoming terror. One howl, then another, snapped the owl's mind into overdrive.
"That.... is not what I was expecting" she spoke with a calm expression, "Iset I know you've had extensive training which will now save your life. You must run like the wind Princess. Run as fast and swift as you can. Once we find his mate we need to get off this island" her voice was seemingly calm but its tone was undeniable.
The desert born mare accompanied by the heavy footed stallion nearly faltered when the hounds were set loose. Breaking a heavy sweat the mare began a heavy breathing much like the night she was to be sold. Her senses became clearer though when Irisi spoke. Much like that foreboding night that unlocked her future she had to make haste and survive. The hounds reminded her of wild dogs she seen in the deserts that would tear her kind apart at a single command of ignorance. In all its beauty as a foal notes the world to be there are darker untold secrets that linger threatening one's very existence. Swallowing awkwardly her tongue traced the top of her mouth realizing in panic she was dehydrating. Simply a mere few hours ago her body rested in the sanctuary of freedom with no stress or unbalanced thoughts. Iset wondered how far the island's end would be till their journey brought them there. The island was dense with brush and trees in tropical appeal with ferns and foliage upon the ground in rich hues. as another hound initiated the call she moved quickly nearly in a high speed gallop now.
"How much farther?" she asked Yuuri with a pained look to her brilliance, "Things are not going according to the Gods right now. This does not appease me nor my calm thoughts." She stated with a strangled look toward Yuuri. "We will find your mate though my senses and mindset have verified that in my defense." She pondered momentarily though could Yuuri purely understand her words since they were of two different worlds.

Amarintine's ears flicked quickly as her hooves pushed her out further in the water. The deafening sound sent spiraling through the currents was threatening to even her own perceptions. Snorting she moved her tail fins exceedingly sharp to push her out farther into the waves lapping around her smooth skin. Her withers prickled as it escaped unwillingly following to her tail. Pushing her frame her eyes scanned the ridge of the cliff high above her line of sight. Feeling helpless her vision concentrated on Feena whose body movements were strangely erratic. Dangerous notions filled the mer's head as she pondered just what travesty was upon them this day. Her friend's actions spoke loudly that actions were to be haste and precise.
As another deep bellow rang through her ears Amarintine sensed something much more sinister at work. Echos of deep scents filled her mind with panic as she forced herself to go further out in the sea as the water edged against her. Then she called up to Feena, "I can't see much down here! Any luck on your end?" Her fears were gnawing like those little carnivorous aquatic creatures that sneak up unexpectedly. Nibbling her bottom lip the inquisitive headstrong mare kept pushing herself higher with her tail. Perking her ears she noted that trees were rusting high above. Possibilities flooded her intuition with good and bad intent. Something was heading this way which made her even more distressed beyond the normal spirited self she possessed.
Feena floated on the current circling as her wings drifted her upward to the cliff's edge. Eyes scanning nervously she stressed hearing the brush far ahead rustling. Being an adventurer she was usually a brave soul which was being tested as she thought upon it. Hearing her friend's concern she shook her head, "No luck yet! something is coming though I can hear it"!
How had a day this precious turned into a fiasco for these two adventurers she pondered deeply to herself. Something was indeed coming their way causing much stress to fully take hold of them both.
Suddenly, without warning the little flutter spiraled out of control as identified shadows knocked her backwards. Amarintine panicked diving into the deep water holding hope that her friend hadn't been hurt as she was knocked to the ground suddenly.
Feena on the other hand was almost to the cliffside till a gust of wind sent her spiraling downward out of control. Scrambling for a foothold she thrashed her legs with her wings trying to get some form of balance. Without warning her vision darkened as did her confused mind not even feeling herself hit the shoreline hard where the water brushed the shore.
Amarintine moved quickly breaking the water's surface worried for the safety of her friend. Quickly her eyes scanned looking for Feena finding her lying in the sand further down the shoreline. Swimming over she called out, "Feena! Feena! Are you okay?" Panic struck her when she saw the mare unconscious. She frowned trying to use a webbed hoof to wake her, "Feena?! Oh please be okay. Please. I have no idea what those shadows were just now. Please you need to be okay". Taking her muzzle she nudged the mare's head away from the water as best she could. Something had landed not too far from this area meaning a threat was coming this way.

Yuuri invested in his own thoughts kept Feena's image the drive to salvation. This whole ordeal wasn't any inkling of his thoughts on how their adventure should have traversed from. This was a pleasant trip infused with stretching one's wings and relaxing without hindrances or danger especially. Now this troupe fleeing from an impending danger involved Feena as well. How could he have been so careless not checking the return side of the island earlier. His gaze would of seen the two-legged threat heeding him to lead his mate safely to another world.
Carelessness could insight harm to the one you love.
Irisi flapped her wings leading the mare and stallion through the deep brush protecting them from the men. As another gunshot rang out she heard cursing not too far off in jumbled pattern of nomadic blurb. The princess needed to find solace in this world not escaping fate as she always followed in her path. If was in her best interest of course that the others might have heard whereabouts to the Pharaoh whom had vanished years ago. Iset may finally heed her call to his hand creating the King and queen worthy to hold their title and produce future heirs. She was but hatchling when she learned of the fate of these two royals interesting her to locate the mare in the first place. Perhaps fate or even destiny she fashioned herself alongside the beautiful mare calling Iset her own.
"I see light up ahead!" she called out letting thoughts fade back to their sanctuary. Flapping her wings harder she also noted, "Oh and it's quite a drop off to the ocean shore below! Use your wings both of you or fate will devour your souls!'
Iset ran steady though her withers prickled a line of sweat along her shoulders. Much like before she was escaping death or a fate much worse and more undeserving. Yuuri she noted deep in thought was preoccupied with his mate's safety so there was no fault if he did not respond to her. Her thoughts alone lingered on Atem wondering how he fared in this new world. Would he find her beautiful as the young King has fashioned her in his own desires in youth. Merely children yet they both knew fate was a doorway to many things. Shaking her head she perked her hearing to Irisi's warning as her eyes laid upon the light before them. Pushing her head forward she thundered toward the light jumping outward as she spread her elegant wings.
Yuuri's thoughts consumed him like a ravenous creature before he noted the owl's strange accent with the incoming light ahead of them. For a moment he looked over at Iset deep in her thoughts then awakened his own senses to the huge jump ahead. As the light filtered his vision he powered his heavy form into the air letting wings spread widely as his hooves climbed into the air.
Irisi had already reached the open air letting herself feel the ocean breeze around her sailing out toward the ocean. She knew directly behind her the other two followed in tow as their hooves pushed through the air behind her. How nice this western air was along her brilliant feathers. Normally she would be resting this time of day but the sheer fear was invigorating enough to stay awake.
Iset Spread her wings alongside Yuuri sailing outward like a magnificent bird letting her hooves travel through the air powering her out toward the ocean. Turning smoothly she circled then then headed back toward the beach knowing the owl would do the same. It could've been her imagination but she pondered deeply something had been in the trio's path as they escaped over the cliff's edge knocking whatever it was to the ground below. Curiously as she circled she caught sight of a peculiar water-based creature that had dived deep into sea. It almost seemed Equine to her in a sense even harboring a large fish tail instead of a Soquili tail. Shaking her head she focused on landing to meet up with Irisi and Yuuri.
Yuuri pawed outward to the sea feeling the salty air swirl around him. Deep in his thoughts to find Feena he also felt something strike the bottom of his hooves hoping it wasn't anything severe. Circling to land he recognized this place being where he left his mate. Her scent was faint but it lingered as a reminder he was very close. As his hooves touched upon the ground he called out in worriment, "Feena! Feena I'm here! Feena?!" Yuuri's tone was hindered by her nonexistent greeting. Looking up he called to Irisi and Iset, "I have her scent. She's here.... Somewhere". Tossing his head he trotted over to the cave peeking in curiously to find it empty. "Where are you Feena?" Usually he was strong as the other soul within gave him strength but now he felt like normal Yuuri afraid his mate could of been lost to what hunted his two companions.

Gnawing at her like a piece of driftwood caught in her tail the mer wanted to flee. But, her heart spoke clearer as Feena drifted within her mind. What example of a friend would she portray letting Feena die alongside the frothy foam of the ocean. She was an adventurer leaving nothing in her personality to be fear. Slapping her tail she faced them her head fully exposed from the surface of breaking waves. Her sight laid upon two equines much taller than Feena one male the other female. Beside them flew a bird of some type with sharp claws and wise eyes. The stallion had thick legs covered in fur as he carried large powerful wings upon his back. The other mare seemed slender and tall with two sets of wings that spread around her as her delicate hooves stepped lightly in the sand.
The mer had no notion if they were friend or foe so she took the bravery route making a disturbance, "Hey you! Who said you could be upon my beach! Go away now before I get angry!" This was so unlike her giving threats but she pondered it may just give Feena enough time to awaken and get to safety.
The first to notice the aqua creature was the owl who blinked in strangeness as she detoured flying over the Ocean mare, "You are a curiosity indeed. I'd surely ask you for formalities but we are searching for someone". As she circled overhead the mer she clicked her tongue, "There is trouble coming not a half a sun away. You must help us and stop being silly". Her voice carried outward as she circled the mare still curious what she was. A serpent perhaps or water horse even. It mattered not for the owl's main goal was getting the regal mare to safety before the hunters encroached them in a permanent snare.
The stallion bolted forward to where the owl was circling. His eyes were watery as he breathed heavily, "Please. I don't know who or what you are but my mate I can't find her! Please will you help us?" the stallion pleaded as a few raindrops landed upon his thick mane. He cursed himself bringing her to this island. Now she was possibly lost out in the elements as thunder sounded rumbling off in the clouds. He looked off toward the sea as the waves started slapping against the shoreline. Then he spoke in a panic showing his true self, "Feena! Feena where are you! Please please be safe somewhere". It was like a record deep in his mind playing continuously as the rain began pelting the sand. He looked down at the mer with tears in his eyes, "Please help me find my Feena".
Taken aback by the stallion the mer finally opened her eyes after she released her gaze from the owl. "Feena!" she shouted diving into the ocean propelling her way to the unconscious mare. Breaking the surface she called out to the stallion hoping he'd hear her cradling Feena's head in her legs so the water wouldn't get in her lungs. This was difficult but she was determined to make it happen. "Please wake up. I think your mate is missing you" she spoke with a tear in her eyes as rain started coming down heavier. Looking out in the downfall she called out again so she saw the tall equines racing toward her.
Yuuri galloped when he heard "Feena" exhale from the ocean mare's mouth. He gave everything he had pounding his hooves in the sand till he reached her in exhaled sighs of breath. Craning his head downward he nuzzled his limp mate as the rain came down in steady streams. Nudging her he breathed out in struggled breaths for she refused to show she was breathing. His muzzle trembled terribly realizing she might have been lost this day. The rain confused for tears beating downward over his thick head dripped neverending upon her. "Feena?" his voice was weak with sadness. Looking back at the mer then to the others standing next to him he made a decision. "Thank you" he said calmly to the mer before he pulled Feena up into his hoof curving back to his leg. Gently he wrapped his other around her holding his string hooves to his chest. Then hoisting himself upwards he headed toward their cave hopping on both back legs much like the rabbits. He noted the thick accent mare and owl followed behind him slowly till they reached the cave. Carefully, he lied her down upon the soft netting of leaves he prepared a day ago. Tears in his eyes he nuzzled her then looked back at Irisi and Iset. 'She's my beating heart and soul. Without her I am nothing" his words seemed softer now.
From the moment Irisi had acknowledged the mare Iset noted how fast the stallion bolted after the one goal he'd set out for. Her deep eyes watched him approach his mate, painfully nuzzle, then pick her up in the curve of his upper arms. With the pelting downpour his hooves surely slipped in the wet sands yet he still geared him and her to the cave. In the desert her kind were slender and lithe yet tall and strong. Looking upon this tiny limp body he lied within the leaves and nettles the desert mare came to realize just how frail she really was. Feena was essentially the height of a tall child with frail wings that looked like iridescent green leaves. Around her neck she wore a necklace as did he perhaps a symbol of their love she wondered? The tresses that she kept bound bound in accessories were quite interesting as they flowed green like the foliage of the island. Looking out at the rain she noted the mer mare had vanished possibly avoiding the rain around them. Iset pondered what a peculiar creature she was living out in the endless seas. Nodding her head she found a dry earthy spot within the cave lying down as her wings folded around her. Thunder rang overhead as the rains continuously poured downward in a moment of sadness. Turning her head she looked at Yuuri again whose legs now cradled his mate as his head leaned in toward hers. The day spoke not how much time was left leaving them only to ponder staying there till morning.
For a moment her thoughts traveled beyond thinking of Atem and her future. She grew so different from the filly he had known her for into a sleek, gorgeous coveted mare of the desert lands. As she closed her eyes listening to Yuuri's breathing and the drumming rain she drifted off into a dream filled sleep back in the land of sands.
Hating the rain she flew along Iset as the stallion heroically carried his mate to the cave. First the amazing water creature now a stallion pulling a feat unknown to his kind. This rain would surely stop the hunters from finding them. There was no telling if the mare was dead nor breathing slightly with all this rain pelting downward. Taking the initiative though she walked on the sandy dirt filled floor close enough to Feena's muzzle. Both Iset and the stallion had fallen into a slumber leaving her to her own devices. Using her sharp hearing she leaned inward and listened to the mare letting the rain fade out. Looking at her body lying limp the owl made a soft click then listened again. For a moment things were the same then she heard something soft and recognizable moving in closer she stood on her talons pushing herself up farther listening again. Though it was again slight the whistle of life exhaled from the small mare's muzzle. Clicking her tongue again the owl blinked looking out at the downpour then she walked calmly to where Iset rested. Nestling into the mare the owl nodded burying her head in thick golden feathers holding no wetness. Blinking one last time she closed her eyes awaiting the rain to cease.
As the rain drummed down in buckets now attuned to the rolling thunder the mer gave up watching over the flutter mare. As she dived in the depths her mind raced back to the stallion carrying his mate much like those men would do. At first it seemed unnatural but the truth of his love spoke more loudly than the thunder. Swishing her long tail burrowing her way deep to her homeward cove she looked back up at the surface that showed no light. A day of happiness had turned into a tragedy with the possible feeling of sadness within the small herd. Pulling herself into her cave her body curled tighter as long legs stretched out over her favorite perching rock. Perhaps this was a nightmare the lampreys sang to their young or sharks whispered to their children. Hopefully, she'd awaken after the rainfall and things will be better. For now in remembrance of her winged friend she breathed a silent prayer then drifted off into a deep sleep.

As the light filtered in the darkened cave a silent resonance lingered. Opening her eyes the desert born mare realized she was still on the island. Perhaps a dream encrusted in a nightmare she pondered her thoughts as her gaze caught sight of the broken pair. Disbelief still shadowing her mind of a stallion relentlessly retrieving his mate to safety replayed over and over again. Noting her companion had exited she followed in suit to stretch her wings followed by her legs. Lifting herself up quietly she moved with absolute grace passing the lovemates with yet another concerned glance.
Reaching out to the light she moved slowly toward the ocean waves feeling the salty breeze caress playfully through her ebony tresses. Stretching her neck outward she shook her head letting it carry throughout her body till the flick of her tail. "Irisi"? she murmured looking up and down the beachfront. Inhaling the air she breathed in scents carefully seeking out her pursuers from the day before. The island was indeed calm as the sun filtered playfully off the ever moving waves.
"Welcome to the daylight Princess" came a voice the mare knew well which she regarded with a simple nod of appreciation.
Golden as the sun Irisi flew over to a close tree watching her companion mare with interest, "Fate it follows us all and yet you can change things to turn the tides. Do not weep the scene you witnessed for light shines today upon us all". Blinking she ruffled her feathers then looked at the mare. "Once we are all in good standing my suggestion would be to follow the lovemates to their homeland. It's something you seriously should consider in the wake those thieves resuming their search".
Always the analytical one the mare thought to herself listening to the owl. In hindsight though her companion never led her astray in moments of deliberation. "I understand Irisi. We have no other choice in this matter but, also I think it's something the desert Gods wish of us. Atem may be there.... wherever there is". She spoke looking out at the waves rolling calmly,
"Is Feena alright"? a voice radiated softly over the calm waves as they washed upon the shore.
Iset's head moved slowly toward the voice her eyes studying the mer creature that had led them to the broken flutter mare.
The golden owl blinked then clicked speaking in an exotic tongue, "Curiosity indeed. Sorry we were brash yesterday. It was of essence we escaped those that gave chase". She yawned a bit though those wise eyes focused on the aquatic creature with much curiosity. Extending her wings she glided upon the wind landing on the sand near the water's edge, "Things are fine with Feena though Yuuri has no inkling till his labored dreams of guilt awaken him to the truth." Tilting her head she looked at the mer, "Since the men escaped back to their vessel we have idle time of chatter. I am a desert born own as Iset is a royal bred desert mare. I nor her have ever seen creatures such as yourself born of the seas. Please if you would educate myself and Iset who and what you are?" Her request wasn't harsh nor was it demanding simply a prose to learn more of uncertainty widening the knowledge even further.
Iset nodded in response to the owl thankful Feena was in safe hands even though death was an escort in everyone's eyes as the rain began the night before. She had never met a mer before so her own intelligence needed a little more understanding of creatures dwelling in the depths. "Indeed, I'd like to know more about you if it's no trouble".
Amarintine floated in the water though her hooves firmly were planted within the thick wet sands. This was her first introduction to the desert pair from the night before. "It's not a problem at all. For starters I am a Mer who lives within the ocean collecting trinkets and other treasures. I Suppose I'm both equine and fish but I've never really dwelled on that fact". she smiled at the desert females tilting her head, "Now if you don't mind tell me about yourselves. I don't see too many sky nor land walkers around here till something visits the island. I simply live out my days here around the islands under the crystal shallows and raining sunshine".
Iset was the first to look at Irisi then spoke, "Very well. I am a royal desert born mare betrothed to a desert King who vanished years ago. I am searching his whereabouts of his existence relying upon the fact he still walks proudly elsewhere".
Suddenly she was interrupted by Irisi, "My words are stronger than yours Iset. Rest you will need your strength".
The golden winged mare nodded stepping back as her owl took the podium now.
"Those men that we evaded were after Iset. She is valuable in their culture which makes her a trophy to reclaim. As soon as the lovemates are stable we must exit from this premise. If you cannot follow us I do apologize". It wasn't that her tongue was sharp but essence was an issue now that the pounding downpour was far behind them. Iset's hooves would betray her if she stood much longer upon the sand making deep imprints.
The mer frowned softly but nodded, "If you choose one of the outer islands I can still follow you. My mate Nereus lives out that way. We tend to meet up off and on when our paths cross".
Iset nodded, "Alright. Then we shall rouse Feena and Yuuri and be on our way".

Waves lapped playfully at upon the beach front causing the stallion's ears to flick back and forth. His deep hearing picked up the sounds of birds unlike the drumming rain from the previous night. Legs stiffened from the cold downpour now ached numb and overly sore. Yawning he stretched feeling a twinge in his forelegs. Looking downward he noted that his beloved was still close to him her lungs pulling in air deeply as her nostrils exhaled back out. Satisfaction spoke is a low grunt she was going to be just fine now. Leaning downward he nuzzled her, "Hey sleepyhead. You going to sleep through the whole day when it's this beautiful outside?"
Shaking her head she slowly opened her eyes followed by a yawn mingled squeak, "It's Saturday. We can sleep in silly" she murmured closing her eyes again.
A heavy chuckle announced his amusement for his mate, "Feena. Come on you are lying on my legs. You lazy lump you get heavy when you snore".
Fluttering eyes opened again now looking up at her mate, "Who you calling heavy mister? I'll have you know I'm light as a feather". Now she stretched feeling a bruise in her lungs. I had the oddest dream last night. You were there along with others and I felt you carry me out of the rain". Now she stretched pulling herself to her feet, "Why are you lying like that Yuuri you'll get achey in that position/" shaking her head she stretched her wings with a yawn, "Alright now you need to get up because breakfast doesn't fend for itself".
The stallion grunted pulling himself to his feet watching his ate stretch her long leaf-like wings, "It wasn't a dream. I thought I lost you last night but, you're right it was just a bad dream".
Feena paused looking at him with puzzled eyes, "It wasn't a dream? Then who was the mare with the odd wings and the owl you were with? And what were those noises coming from the island?" Dreams were mischievous at times but the recollection of being knocked to the ground so abruptly proved itself with the pain in her side.
"Hmm?" he responded to her question, "Oh I met them on the island yesterday before the thieves started tracking us. Basically, a run for your lives sort of deal leaving me in a panic to find you before the thieves did. It was like living a full blown adventure like you always wanted to experience". Then he sighed, "Well without finding you lying half dead on the shoreline. That I could of done without".
"Amarintine" she spoke lightly, "the red haired mer is she alright?" Now she looked out of the cave in worriment, "I heard her calling my name but I couldn't respond.
Yuuri nodded, "Far as I know she is. She's the one that lead us to you". He looked around the cave noting Iset and Irisi were gone.
Feena yawned again, "So where are your new friends anyway?" Now she was curious to the newcomers eager to meet the mare her mate conversed with.
Yuuri pointed his muzzle out toward the beachfront, "I'm guessing out there. we better go find them". Taking a few steps forward he exited outside the cave soaking in the sunlight warming his wings.

The owl blinked hearing movement swiveling her head around to see the cave entrance. There stood Yuuri refreshed with no panic in his eyes which meant a calm departure would be doable. While Iset had still conversed with Amarintine she took to flight again checking on the hunters that were on the move again noting their crude weapons and canines they used for tracking. Luckily, there was no other entry points to this location other the cove the mer used to come inland. "Welcome back to the land of the living" she mused looking at the stallion still with her head swiveled backwards.
Iset looked up noting Yuuri now, "Feena. How does she fare?" Her words were genuine of course still mesmerized in shock watching Yuuri hop on two legs retrieving the tiny flutter to safety. In her growth from foal to marehood she witnessed many things but, never complete sacrifice for another's life. Most equines with low bloodlines would either perish or be put to many a day without food, water, or rest even. Dressed in strange clothes and customs this stallion was truly an interesting creature indeed. Noting behind him the tiny mare she herself sensed relief that they could depart soon from this treacherous place. All of them would have to follow the ocean's surface so the hunters would not see them flying high in the clouds.
Curiously, she regarded the mer again, "If we fly lowest to the water can you lead us off to an island far from here with no threats?" Her last statement was a little harsh sounding but she was certain the mer would show no offense to her query. The sooner each had dispersed from this island the better salvation for traveling band in a whole. Consideration with Irisi silently lead her final decision to return to the mainland with the lifemated couple. Instinctively, she had an inkling that her destiny was there somewhere in that strange world. There was no regaining status in the Desert land with the men taking over destroying things as she had known since birth. It was truly a saddening sight knowing most royal blood equines were now nothing but barter and trade for extreme guilty pleasures. The trader that sought out Iset worked for an evil man incapable of emotion nor sacrifice. The only reason he desired Iset was her uniqueness to the herd with potential of bearing a multitude of high bloodlines. Unlike most royals she had developed a sense of their practices remembering many a mare put to death for simply denying them strong colts for future profit. Atem had left long before this dark trade had come into existence which she was thankful for.
Amarintine beamed seeing Feena following Yuuri out of the cave. Her attention returning to the royal winged mare whom addressed her, "Most certainly. I know this stretch of islands like the back of my fins". Her gaze turned back to Feena wondering how hurt she was or rather if she could fly even this morning. She was pretty lightweight but her frail body might not take those high sea air currents like the others. Feverishly, she pondered for some kind of transport the flutter could use in the case her wings couldn't handle the trip. She noted an island much like this one but the distance was extremely far out into the ocean's grand blue tapestry of water. There was a really nice cove she loved visiting with rocks around the outer edges. Many seafarers had attempted the trips only to run against rocks or worse. It was a place no two-leggers rarely visited for fear of losing their ships. Some say there was a great treasure upon that island but no man had ever set foot there to clarify the rumors.
The mer though knew what lied upon the old isle leaving its secrets with her muzzle sealed. Her newfound friends needed a haven away from the danger approaching them within the day. For a moment she spoke, "Be right back" then dived into the cerulean blue again. Swimming downward she pulled herself into a long cave stretching upward till she reached an opening to a larger grotto filled with many things. If the group were flying low they could pull Feena long on her huge shell she had encountered many years back. Uncertain to the creature calling it home she noted that without supervision this strange shell floated on its own. Pulling some thick seaweed she pulled it through the large hole in the front tightly. "There... now to pull it back to the surface". Grasping the seaweed in her teeth she yanked on it pulling the shell behind her through the cave. It was light as a feather so Amarintine was sure Feena would be able to fit upon it no problem.
Reaching the surface a tad bit longer then last time she called out, "Alright! Here we go! If Feena is still bruised she can lie upon this and heal as you make way to a safer island this time around. I promise you fresh water, fruits, and grasses if you are hungry. The Lagoon is centered so I'll be able to meet you there no problem."
Iset craned her head downward sniffing the shell. It was a fitting invention the way the mer had rigged it up pulling it to the shore. Taking the seaweed that was unusually strong she pulled the shell away from the waves upon the shore. "Very nice idea Amarintine". Looking back at Yuuri, Feena, then to Irisi she nodded, "We must be on our way. Those thieves won't stay away too long with those canines".
