Pretty sure a juggernaut of hatred and dark magic is a whole 'nother beast compared to a bear

no i kid but for real I'd guess that the Faceless popped up literally interspersed throughout town for maximum impact and immediate damage, rather than having to approach and enter the village like a bear would. Also because Faceless are shambling monstrosities of dark magic stitched together and bears are, y'know. Bears. Dangerous, but still living creatures. I don't know if a Faceless would attack you any less brutally if it was badly injured.

So I finished the game a few days ago and [END GAME THOUGHTS UNDERNEATH]

honestly I'm quite satisfied with the way that everyone on the Nohr royalty side didn't make it out, rather than finding it frustrating I found Xander's motivations and reasons to be fair and rather fitting for his character as well as actually attached to Elise once the final moment approached. It's been really helping me adjust for Conquest even if I think Nohr as it stands is absolutely terrible and systematically awful/corrupt.

(Seriously, I think I'm going to drink if I see one more Hoshido is racist nonsense post)

And please just give Azura and Lilith the love and attention they need/deserve.

The final fight was rather cheesy and nice in traditional flair, but something about the plot itself seemed half-told (and it certainly is, purposely) but it ended on a very somber and touching note that I can be happy with.

WHAT IS UP MY BROSHIDOS

Just started birthright.

I knew the fast wouldn't last. (We shall secretly be infiltrating Birthright only to bring more glory to Nohr!)

Just got to CH 17. And one thing I've really enjoyed with playing the second version - which would apply regardless of what order a person picked - is traveling to a lot of the same locations in the reverse order. Like the fort where you get Sakura and get to see her tend to the wounded is the same fort where you encounter her in Conquest. And seeing that from both sides made me appreciate the location a lot more.

I've enjoyed the cast and characters I'm using in Birthright for the most part (really loving Rinkah, Oboro, Orochi, and Subaki), but the plot is hardly selling me any more than the other side did because it's weak regardless, and the chapters are definitely a lot A LOT A LOT easier. Very Awakening. Rout, ROUT, ROUT. The Dragon Veins here also basically just GIVE easy victory to you thus far. Like Chapter 14? What WAS that? That chapter would have been perfectly fine without Dragon Veins that cumulatively reduce the boss to 3 HP without healing available. It did make Capturing the boss effortless.

Silas does seem to be more useful here. In part because what he offers is more unique, but also largely because of some of the weapons only available in Birthright like the Guard Naginata (I LOVE that thing) and Practice Katana, both of which he makes excellent use of.

I also love the greater variety of Shuriken available for sale, but hate not being able to readily buy Javelins.

I have yet to feel challenged in the chapters, but it is fun seeing Rinkah at level 20/1 and having 31 Defense after Pair Up.

Hey! I waited three days! And most of the fourth...... Because I was at work and couldn't actually play it....!
I had a long week I am totally justified.

I also notice and like the feeling of going through the locations in reverse. I just beat chapter 9 and I also note things that mirror Conquest's events. I think I might make a thread for screaming about the siblings. Everyone is welcome to join me.

This also means that I am visiting locations where a lot of my favorite conquest chapters took place and am feeling the absence of the sweet gameplay. Where's my beloved wind, Fuga? Next is the ninja village and I assume that means we'll have some echoes of 17, which is another of my faves... Sure it's still Birthright earlygame, but chapter 9 in conquest was still enough to get me on my toes. The gameplay provided Conquest with a lot of oomph that the story did not have. I wonder if the story of Birthright will be able to do the same for the somewhat lacking gameplay. Though it is still earlygame so we'll see if it can toss me a decent route chapter.

It might be fun to visit some latergame birthright versions of conquest places, though. In fact, it definately will be.

Also, I tried to tell myself that I would just immediately go and marry Rinkah but.... I'm not fooling anyone. I've been admiring Rinkah from afar and now I am going to ask her out. Awawawaawa redface
