This was not the future Chase had envisioned, no..when he was a foal things had looked bright and hopeful..but since the war, since the queen had all but handed over control to..then..things had gone downhill quickly. Most of the old Knights, the ones he had worshiped as a foal had deserted not long after their leader and mentor had been shunned and the ones who replaced them were Knights in title only..certainly none of them behaved like a Knight ought too.
Chase had had little choice in things, he had been a foal at the time and his family had no where else to go, he had watched as his herd fell to shambles, ruled by cruelty and selfishness and all it had done was left him with a burning desire to change it. He had grown and he had tried, he had joined the order and fought to make things right.
But..some things couldn't be saved and at long last, with his family gone and nothing to hold him here any longer Chase had come to a decision. His herd was broken beyond repair..but the rest of the world might still have some use for a true Knight. If he couldn't help Soquili here perhaps he could help them elsewhere, there had been rumors, some time ago, that the old Knight was still out there..fighting..living up to the legends Chase had grown up believing in.
If he was out there then Chase was going to find him and maybe wherever he was Chase could make a difference.

"Are you sure about this?" Dhaval asked as he looked up at his larger friend, he had always agree with the Soquili but it was no small thing to leave your home and everything you had ever known so far behind. Granted this herd was hardly something that should e missed...but it was still familiar and that counted for something, even if it was a small something. Chase glanced down at his friend, his eyes sorrowful but determined as he nodded his head in confirmation "Of course, if you are still sure you want to come with me.." Chase didn't think he could leave without his friend, while he would miss nothing of this place he didn't think he could bear leaving it without Dhaval, the wolf had been his rock, his sounding board..his only true friend in this rocky and terrible world. Dhaval too deserved a better life then the one he had here, it was just another reason to leave. "I am." Dhaval assured the stallion, flaring his wings in preparation."Then we go..""We go."

Since leaving home Chase had felt as though a giant burden had been lifted from his shoulders, as though the guilt and festering disappointment of his home land had been a physical boulder strapped unknowingly to his back for all these years. For the first time since he was a foal Chase felt...free.
And it was glorious. Chase was pretty sure that Dhaval agreed with him, the wolf had been growing increasing somber back home but now, out here in the clear sky and trouble free lands Chase was beginning to see hints of the old joyful wolf Dhaval had been when they were younger. Just one more thing to convince him that leaving had been a wonderful idea that they had put off for far to long. The should have left sooner..but then maybe the freedom wouldn't feel so sweet.
Dhaval was more then pleased wit hthe way the journey was going so far, things had been quiet, the weather had been kind and for as far as they could see ahead no troubles lay before them, it seemed like they had left all of that behind. It was however starting to get dark and they had been flying for most of the day. Glancing over at his friend the wolf was about to suggest they stop and find a place to spend the night when he noticed the goofy look on his face.
"Now just what are you grinning about?"

"You" The stallion replied with a slight laugh.
"Me?"
"Yes you, it's just nice to see you so happy again." Chase replied "It reminds me of when we were younger, more carefree."
"I expect I could say the same about you." The wolf replied "But aside from your sentimentality it is starting to get dark and we need to start looking for a place to spend the night."
Chased nodded in agreement, casting his eyes downwards "Perhaps that grove of trees?" He suggested, spotting the green foliage in the distance "If we are lucky there might even be a spring nearby." Certainly a nice cool drink would be appreciated after a day of flying and he wouldn't mind washing some of the travel dust off his back either.
"Could work" The wolf agreed before dipping his wings and swooping lower towards the trees.
"Worth checking out at least." Chase remarked as he followed his friend towards the trees, although the weather had been good so far neither the stallion nor the wolf were eager to test fate and spend the night out in the open. That would just be asking for something unfortunate to occur.. like a storm. It was possible - he had seen storms rise up out of no where before.
