Jacin looked through the group of people that were standing there before him, a group of younger hunters, those who had only recently been given their weapons and rank. They were young yet but they were eager to do what was needed to take care of the village. They were as Jacinthus was, those who wanted to hunt for food for the villagers, to protect them, to use their weapons for good things, not for fighting and killing. It was the only reason that he took a break from preparing for the vacation that he hoped to be taking with his family. That and it would really be of help were the vacation to be a long one. He wanted to know that people were taking care of those who were too young, old, or in some other way unable to provide for themselves. Making sure to get extra meat was one of the main things that he had found would help, making sure to keep everyone fed. The last thing that Jacinthus wanted was for anyone to strve because he wanted to take a vacation.

"I won't allow for any sort of slacking off." He said as he gave the group of them a once over, "Anyone that does, everyone that doesn't give this hunt their all, or just doesn't understand how important our hunt is will be sent home." Serious words that had the group looking between one another, as though they were in silent debate whether or not they wanted to stick with the group.

Jacinthus lifted an eyebrow, hands resting on his hips, before he said, "If you don't want to come along with me then get lost. Our skills are those that are honed for the good of our village. We use our extra time to make sure that everyone, no matter who they are, get fed. I don't need any selfish, uncertain children in my hunting group. Got it?" This time one of the hunters actually scurried away, looking a bit terrified. Jacin gave a snort as he looked at the others again, waiting in silence, before nodding his head, "Alright, let's go then."

With that the group was on their way, away from Yera, and heading out into the field. He didn't even give a second thought to the one that had run away. Such a child wasn't needed when it came to the important mission that he had for the group of hunters in training. What he wanted, what he needed, were those who were willing to work hard for others. If they were the sort that couldn't do that and that instead thought on what they could get out of every hunt, then he was glad that young man stayed behind. Giving the rest a glance he said, "We are going after a flock of seriffin, they are a smaller version of kinfa, rather dangerous, but delicious. I saw them arrive in the area yesterday and I figure that they will be a good place for the lot of you to start. I will allow the lot of you to get the first shots, but let it be known that I am taking shots as well." Just in case.

He gave a smile as he started forward, "Whatever we get we will see is distributed between our families and those that need a bit of extra help making sure that everyone is well fed in the village. We don't want anyone to be left hungry while we eat well after all." He'd had difficulties when he was younger, he and his little sister both, when they had lost their parents. There were those who weren't the same as Jacinthus, they didn't think about others, instead more worried about making sure that they had everything that they needed. It made sense, wanting to take care of their own, but Jacinthus wanted to make sure that all of Yera was taken care of. The village was his home and wanted it to prosper along with all of the people that lived there no matter what.

The lot of them walked along, their eyes scanning the area around them, before one of the young hunters gave a little gasp, waving her hand rapidly to get the attention of the one leading them. It was something that drew Jacinthus's attention before he turned to look at her, "Yes?" She pointed at the horizon and there Jacinthus, as well as the others, were able to see the flock of seriffin that were walking along, scratching and pecking at the ground. It was something that had Jacin smiling a bit, "Alright, everyone draw your arrows and be ready to take aim. We want to get as many of the birds as we can. The more that we get the more people will have full bellies."

Notching one of his arrows he walked forward slowly, drawing back, and taking aim, but he held. He didn't want to steal the light from the lot of them, instead wanting them to be able to take their shots first. Once they were all in range their arrows flew forward, through the air and fell down upon the flock of unsuspecting seriffin. A lot of the arrows were a little scattered, falling around the birds, a few of the arrows actually taking down some of the birds. It would have been hard for them to say who had hit what were it not for the fact that each member of the group had color coded arrows. It was a good way of seeing which of them showed the most promise and those that needed more work.

"We will check each of the birds that were taken down and see who got them." He said, drawing back so that he could take a few shots himself, taking down some of the birds. They had gotten some, sure, but he wanted to make sure that more them were taken. They wanted a lot of the birds after all, to feed everyone that needed the food. He gave a smile as he looked at the 'students' that he gathered he said, "Come, we will fetch the birds. If you see a shot that you can make, take it. If we can can get more birds then those that we already have after all." The more birds the better.

Something that one of the young hunters took advantage of a moment later as she took the shot, taking down another of the birds. She gave a little squeal, jumping up and down in place, before clapping her hands, "Got one! Did you see?" An excited cry that drew the attention of the others. Some of the others in the group applauded her, giving her praise, but Jacinthus didn't. Instead he merely said, "Go ahead and fetch the birds with your arrows in then when we get close. No running through as that will make the birds want to flee faster. As it is they might calm down after a time and give us a chance at firing another volley upon them."

He gave everyone a look around the area before looking ahead once more, "Our hunt will continue for a while, we will take a few more shots at them, but if we can't get anymore I will show you the next part of the hunt, that being to clean the birds so they are ready for cooking." It would be interesting, to see which of the young hunters in the group who were able to deal with the messiest part of the hunt.

The flock of seriffin, at least the ones that had gotten away from the hunting group, had started to gather together again after a short amount of time. Birds weren't really the smartest creatures in the world but that was what made them some of Jacinthus's favorite to hunt. The easier that they were to follow around, as well as pick off, the better because that meant that they had more food for the village. He set half of the group of wanna be hunters on ahead after the big birds, to take a few more shots at them, while he and the others saw to it that the birds that they had already shot were gathered up. The last thing that he wanted was to have the birds get snatched by some witu that could be skulking about. The witu were definitely the sort that would try to steal from the lot of them because they felt it easier then actually hunting for themselves. Not something that Jacinthus would allow, not when the hunters in training were doing fairly well thus far. He wouldn't let their spirits be crushed by witu of all things.

Jacinthus turned his head when he heard the sound of foot fall, lifting his bow up, almost expecting to see some witu standing there. Instead it was a trio of the seriffin that seemed to have fallen behind the rest of the flock. It was something that had him starring for a moment, a bit surprised that they would come this close to a group of hunters. Birds weren't very smart, were they? No matter, this gave him an excellent opportunity to get more... birds. Just as he thought that some arrows came raining down around the birds. Two of them went racing off away from them and out of sight while the third one fell over, two different arrows buried in it's body.

"Well, that was surprising, but good job." It hadn't allowed for him to take a shot or make sure that they definitely got another bird but it allowed his students to get another bird. While getting food was important it was also important for the group of them to take down prey as well. The more that they were able to take on their own the higher their spirits would be. He didn't want them to miss too much or else they might end up wanting to give up. Having anymore of his students give up wasn't something that he could allow, feeling that having this many new hunters helping out the village was something really important. It also got him thinking that he was going to need to get Korra out hunting soon too, feeling that his daughter too needed such skills.

Giving a smile he said, "Alright, the two of you that shot the same bird, you will work on cleaning that one together and split the meat between the two of you as well. It's only fair that way." Best that he got that out of the way before the pair of them started to argue over who shot first, who the bird belonged to, and the like. In fighting would tear the small group apart, yet another thing he couldn't allow among 'his' students.

He watched the pair as they turned to do as they were told, watching and waiting... but instead of a battle the two seemed to be trying to figure out what part of each job they wanted to do. Who wanted to gut it, who wanted to pluck it, and so on. Turning his head he watched as some of the others in the group, those that he'd sent forward to take a few more shots at the other seriffin, came back to him. They had some birds in hand, something that had him smile, "Good job, all of you. Let's see about getting to the down and dirty part of hunting. We are going to field dress the birds, something we need to do quickly before the stuff inside the birds ruins the meat."

"I will need one of you to help dig a hole to toss the guts in. If we just leave them laying around its all but asking for the witu to come over and eat them... which will make them think we're feeding them. That is the last thing that we want. Burying the guts will mask the scent, which will keep the witu from finding them." The last he wanted was for those carnivorous bastards to think that Jacin would actually feed them.

After one of the young hunters in training took the job of digging Jacin set to work showing the others how best to clean the birds out. Once they had them all field dressed they'd see about heading back so they could finish up butchering them out back home.
