Tristan reply Tristan: With the day prior having been completly doused by heavy rainfall, the main tracker of the warrior group was on heavy duty, responsibility wise. The water had washed away most scents, leaving them blind to what could be lurking nearby their new camp, but it also meant that new bounty could also be found for gathering and aiding their supplies. He trotted at a rather quiet, steady pace, bright eyes on dark canvas flickering about attentively to his surroundings. His pale pelt was slightly glossy from the gentle sprinkle he'd earned even under the well constructed canopy that he an his herd had taken refuge under. The leaves had been woven, along with sturdy, thick branches, to create a roof for them as they slept and stood guard over resting comrades. But the slight cling of moisture to his pelt wasn't too much of a bother to the kirin. He gave pause before a few damaged trees and bushes that had been roughed up by the stronger winds, and munched on by some sort of passing by creature. Hoof and paw prings were evident in the softened earth beneath, leading trails of different critters this way and that. Hunting would probably be possible, given the animals sought cover nearby. They would probably also be pungent from the cologne of rainwater having stained their coats. So far... the place was proving to be as it was before, with the few additional options now presented. Tydus Reply Tydus: The stallion was feeling a little anxious and needless to say unprepared; the heavy rainfall had grounded him from exploring and scouting the area the day prior. Being ever-so-paranoid about the safety of his herd, Tydus thought it only pointed at the herd being in potential danger. Predators or other hostiles could be lurking around, ready to attack them, he irrationalized. Now that the rain had ceased, he took it upon himself to start looking around immediately to see if he could come across some sort of clue - resource or potential danger - that they might have missed. Trotting slowly, he took in the enviroment, examining every small detail he could lay his eyes on. He couldn't deny that this was something he found enjoyment out of. It allowed him to get time alone from the herd, which while he enjoyed his herdmates, he enjoyed being by himself just as much. Tydus, eager to find a lead, did eventually catch sight of some fairly fresh hoof prints in the ground. Looking closer, he could see how they seemed to follow older trails. A hunter perhaps? Curious and ready to investigate, he pursued them eagerly. It wasn't too long until he could see who it belonged to: one of his herdmates. He mentally cursed himself for making such a novice mistake andnot realizing sooner that he was not the only one out and about in his herd; he could recall Tristan setting out just a little before he had. Shaking his head, he approached the male, saying a quick "Ho!" as he got in an audible range of the other stallion. Tristan reply Tristan: While his attentive eyes were following some of the animal prints along the ground, til they disappeared from his line of sight, or behind some sort of obstacle, he managed to pick up a few distinct scents that caused for intrigue. Interest piqued, he took a few steps to the left of himself, to peer into a few clustered bushes. Staring at the thick vegetation, his eyes narrowed only slightly, as if piercing through the obscured view.... but he was certain.... yes, there was something there. With a pause of caution, he slowly lowered his neck to nose through some of the branches, and part them from his way to get a better look, stiffening when he came upon what'd caught his attention; a freshly hatched baby bird. It was keeping surprisingly quiet, given its fragile, and helpless state, body still slick and damp from the egg that it'd escaped, which lay just behind it. At first the stallion wondered if the thing were dead, but upon closer inspection, he saw the little pink chest heaving normally. It was more than likely just tired. His mind started to process options, as he lifted his head out of the bushes, and straight up to the tree thats wingspan towered overhead. More than likely there was a nest up there it'd fallen from... Lucky for it that it'd fallen right into the cover of the brush. But his attention was deviated as Tydus approached, gaze snapping over to him instead. With a respectful nod of his head in returned greeting, his eyes cast away from the other, "Morning, sir Tydus." he replied in his usual composed tone, "I did not know you were to track this way. I apologize." Tydus Reply Tydus: "You can call me just Tydus. We're herdmates. No need for formalities," he said, keeping his tone cordial. Always keep up your appearance, he thought to himself, stiffening up. He tried to maintain a presence of calm and collected around others; he seldom allowed his more aloof, less serious side show. Despite that, he didn't care for being addressed as sir; he didn't feel as though he was in a place physically that warranted such an honorable title. The stallion watched the other curiously. Did he interrupt something? Perhaps Tristan was in the middle of tracking something? Tydus frowned slightly. He was sure he was going to get chewed out later by someone if that was the case - or Tristan would be grumpy about it later. He flicked his ear. He would definitely feel guilty if he was the reason Tristan might lose an important trail. When hearing the stallion's apology, he shook his head. "No, no - don't apologize. It wasn't my plan to head here but... Well, I supposed it happened that way because I mistook your prints for something else." Noting the stallion's close proximity to the bush, he stammered in, "Did you find something or - ah, sorry if I'm interrupting your progress. I should take my leave." He bowed his head apologetically and glanced to the side, looking for a direction to head off in instead. Tristan reply Tristan: His tail flicked at the tip a little at the dismissal of the formalities, the slight discomfort felt nowhere shown on his serious expression. Having been reared to use formalities with all levels of relations, it was still something he was struggling to break out of. And considering that Tydus was the brother of his leader, it made it all the more difficult. But he conceited with a faint nod of his head again, to show his acknowledgement. Staring intently at Tydus, he was met with a pinch of surprise by the admitted mix up, causing him to glance down at his own tracks that were imprinted in the softened earth. Tracking was what he'd been specially trained in back home, making him a near expert in the craft. He didn't expect others to be at the same level as him, considering it was his main focus. Thus, he held no ill will on the matter. "It is quite alright. My hooves are the only of their kind in the group. It is an understandable mistake." he replied plainly, glancing back to the bush that'd been a point of interest before. Turning himself to face it again, he lowered his head to pull back the shrub, in order to reveal its insides, "I have simply discovered a small cluster of ripened berries here, that can suffice as a mild snack, or means of supply for concoctions." he informed, lifting his head which caused the branches to shiver back in to place. "You are free to them if you desire."
