Slievenamon stood on the rooftop atop the warehouse she frequented in downtown Destiny City. Hardly a soul came around (save those who actually worked on the docks on in the warehouse, anyhow) and she could remain in the company of herself. Such an opportunity was rare for her at home, so getting as far as she could from her place of residence was the best she could do to actually hear herself think.

Leafing through her memo book, the page studied all of the notes she had taken since the idea came to mind that she should, but she was largely dissatisfied with the turnout. She had hardly filled up even a quarter worth of thoughts on youma, knights, agents of Chaos, and, well, pretty much anything to do with the world she had stepped into. However, knowledge was knowledge and she wanted to find out all she could.

She was still new to all of this, but she was just a darker shade of green. There was some experience under her belt.

Before she could continue her studies, Slievenamon picked up an energy signature similar to her own. New and fresh; someone just like her, perhaps? Humming in curiosity, she bounded from the warehouse and followed to where she thought she felt the ping coming from.

Hy-Brasil stood atop a short apartment building. She had set out for the night with no set plan and thus found herself standing around doing....well, nothing. She was starting to think of all of this patroling stuff as non-sense. Right now she could be tucked at home in her bed or relaxing on the couch with Reilly curled up by her feet. But no, she was outside, powered up as a page of Earth and it was winter.

She sighed, a flash of mist escaping her mouth in the process, and ran a hand through her hair, careful of the small braids that were scattered through her locks. "I should just go home." She mused aloud and turned to look in the direction of her apartment and realized she had managed to traipse a fairly decent distance from home. At this point it wasn't worth it to turn around.

Suddenly a flash of something caught her attention. A feeling of a sort. She never really understood what these odd instincts were but her gut instinct was to trust them and this time, whatever it was, felt similar to herself? It was odd, but she accepted that comparison.

Glancing around the night, she eventually found the direction the feeling had come from and it wasn't long until she saw a figure moving towards her. Narrowing her eyes, Hy-Brasil tried to get a better look at who it was but had no luck with the figure popping in and out of darkness. With nothing better to do she skipped across the rooftops to meet up with whomever it was. She'd be lying if she said she was at least a bit curious.

"Over here!" She called when she stopped on the roof of an old theatre that had been converted into a now two duplex movie theater. It managed to stay in business thanks to the nostalgia feeling of being in an old theater than the abundance of movies it played. Still, it was quiet with the late hour, and no one would likely see two people standing on top of it.

Slievenamon had some slight trouble picking up the energy signature; sure, she could feel it, but pinpointing it to its exact location left her at a crossroads. She slid her eyes across the rooftops, trying to figure out its source, but thanks to Hy-Brasil's shout, the page finally found her location and jumped off toward her.

Landing on the roof of the old theater with her heels clacking against the concrete, she trotted up to her fellow page, and smiled in welcome. This woman looked older by a few years, but by the blip in the back of her mind, a page just like her; it was nice to know she wasn't alone in her ranking. As she approached, she reflexively took out the memo pad in her jacket and flipped it open to an open page to jot down notes or thoughts as need be.

"Hi there," she greeted. "Name's Slievenamon, a page of Neptune. Who're you?"

Hy-Brasil eyed the notebook that the other page had pulled from her jacket. Interesting. She assumed that the girl must have put it there after powering up considering Hy-Brasil had noted that anything she carried seemed to disappear. A good thing to keep note of for the future if she ever needed to tote things around. After all, the bodice would work well to tuck small items in if needed.

"Hy-Brasil, a page of Earth." She introduced herself with a smile and nod. "Do you always carry around a notebook with you?" She gestured to the small pad and pencil the girl had with her head. "Rather genius, actually." She chuckled. "There's been so much to learn and things I've just discovered on my own that having something to jot stuff down on would be really helpful. I mean, that's what I assume you're doing with it?"

She sighed and crossed her arms just under her chest, hugging them close to her. "I am sorry to say that I don't think I'll be much help in filling any of those pages up for you though."

Slievenamon dipped her chin and, despite breaking eye contact with the girl to write down her name and planet affiliation, her smile didn't once falter. "Pleasure to meet you. And yep, I definitely do. It really comes in handy"—she doted the end of Hy-Brasil's name on the page and looked to her again—"for moments like right now. And you're right once again, heh. I have some experience, but not enough to say I know the ins and outs of knighthood."

Her smile seemed to falter a tad when she found out she wouldn't be on the receiving end of information this time around, but widened again for brevity's sake. "It's all right, really. But if you're in need of any answers, I can try my best to answer them."

A stray breeze pulled at her hair and slitted skirt, forcing her to tuck the red strands back behind her ears to keep them out of her way. The slight drop of the girls facial features didn't go unnoticed to Hy-Brasil but she didn't feel guilty about it. At least the girl wasn't going to be waiting and expecting to hear something new, now. Though, this may have worked in her own favor, running into someone who had at least a bit more experience under her belt. Besides her chat with Camelot, she really felt like she knew nothing about all of this Knightly stuff and a part of her felt that he may have been a bit biased to all of this considering how cheerful and open he was to talking about stuff.

"I've heard so may stories about monsters and bad guys but have yet to come across anything." She crossed her arms and sighed. "These patrols seem like they are almost a complete waste of time." Again, her mind drifted back to the warm bed she knew was waiting for her at home. Oh to be snuggled up under her mountain of blankets, head buried in her pillow. Pulling herself from the fantasy she quickly brushed the thought away. Dreaming about bed would not help her cause at the moment. "Not to mention I don't particularly think of myself as a fighter so what good am I? Have you figured out a way around our complete lack of weapons?" At this point she was assuming the other girl was also wielding a 'weapon' as useless as her own. After all, Camelot had mentioned that their weapons were usually normal, everyday things.

"Sorry, if you can't tell, I am a bit frustrated at this Knight business." She waved a hand non-chalantly before returned it to its resting place under her chest.

Slievenamon brushed a strand out of her face come the slight breeze and couldn't help but agree with the other's sentiment. There certainly were other things she could be doing right then instead of wandering around the city in the dead of night like a reporter desperate for a story. She couldn't help shut her eyes and let out a sigh; a small glimpse of herself curled up with a cup of tea sounding like the greatest dose of medicine then and there.

"In all honesty, they are a great waste of time," the girl said, thumbing the page of her memo pad. "You and I are more likely to get a good beat-down or die while powered-up when on the lookout for danger, especially if you don't have a goal in mind or are just wandering around aimlessly. But." She leafed through her book, trying to find the exact wording of the thought she had scribbled down some days ago. " "It is humanity's strength to thrive." I wrote that a small while ago. Catchy, huh? This is just my opinion, but I feel like if we're given an opportunity, even something as bizarre as this magic thing, we should just, y'know, dive right on in with it. I mean, you don't have to patrol, but maybe incorporate something in with it as well. That's why I've been carrying this around." Slievenamon held up the memo pad. "Not only have I been on the lookout for youma and those of the Negaverse, I've been learning all I can about this side of life as well. Makes these patrols a little less boring."

"Or, you can team up with someone and patrol together. It ensures your safety—strength in numbers and all that—but not fun if you're the exploratory type. As for the weapons..." The page withdrew her shell flute from her side pocket. "I haven't. My flute really can only play a pretty tune and the mouth portion is sharp enough to stab with, but that's it. Maybe you can take something around with you, like a bat or something? Until you're a squire, we're pretty much on our own."

A sigh escaped through the seams of her lips. "It is pretty frustrating, yea. If I... If I actually had something better to do, I wouldn't be out on this rooftop freezing my skin off." Slievenamon mumbled something under her breath along the lines of a crappy family home. "But you don't have to power-up if you don't want to. That is always an option. You'd be safe that way, too. But before you even make that choice, do give your wonder a visit. If you do, I'm sure, at least, that will encourage you to continue this. It'd be worth it, I promise that."

Ah. Perfect. Another way to waste time which was something she did not need.

“Diving on in can be just as dangerous as being too hesitant.” She said matter-of-factly. “It’s just as easy to drown.” Still, she supposed the other girl was right. Heading out with no clear path was likely to get herself into trouble. Especially if she’s being careless about things. After all, if her first encounter with a youma proved anything, she was hardly at all ready to deal with stuff let alone when she was not putting at least some effort into what she was doing. At the same time though, despite the youma, she wasn’t quite ready to paint this war in black in white. There were always two sides to each story.

Glancing at the girls flute shell Hy-Brasil couldn’t help but wonder why pages were ‘blessed’ with such useless items. “Well that’s great. You may be able to stab someone and I might be able to poke out an eye. It’s really a miracle to me that anyone survives long enough to become a squire with weapons like this.” She brandished her incense stick and made a face at the item. “Carrying a bat around sounds like it could be more troublesome than it’s worth, especially if you don’t end up ever needing it. But, I guess if it gives a sense of security…” She shrugged. “Personally, I think I’ll look into some sort of self defense class or something. With how this city is I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a multitude to choose from.”

Then the girl brought up the wonders. Camelot had mentioned it to her as well, but she hadn’t put much thought into it. Now she was hearing about it again and it perked her interest this time round. “You’ve visited your own wonder I assume? Is it the reason you’re out here ‘freezing your skin off’ each night besides lacking anything better to do?”

In a way Hy-Brasil wasn’t sure how some mythical place could possibly make her want to continue this work as a Page, but maybe it was worth checking out? She’d have to think on that.

Slievenamon couldn't hide her joy, but reflexively covered her face from the nose down with her open book. She could've babbled on and on about her mountain on Neptune. "Mhm, I've visited it," she said with an embarrassed chuckle after collecting her bearings. "It's an absolutely lovely place. Well, I only visited it once, but it left... quite an impact on me. I'm not sure if your wonder will have the same effect and, in fact, it may not even encourage you to continue at all, but you'll never know until you try. When I went to Slievenamon, it felt like home. I wanted to stay there and just forget about Earth, but there were too many repercussions. I would've liked to stay, but couldn't—especially not knowing there was a threat on Earth that could, someday, harm it. So, yes, that is why I freeze my skin off every night taking notes and fighting when I have to. I want to protect that wonderful place."

"It had that strong of an effect on you?" It was obvious though by the girl's excitement and glee when talking about her wonder that it had.

Even more curious. Maybe these Wonders were something more important than she had originally thought? She had assumed that, though important, it wouldn't be any sort of deciding factor for her. But...maybe...

"I'll have to pay mine a visit sometime soon, I think. It would be better knowing what I am actually fighting for than doing all of this for no real reason beside that I am expected to." Unlike, Slievenamon though, her wonder would be located on Earth. In fact, she remotely remembered hearing tales about a place named Hy-Brasil when she was a child, but it wasn't a story she remembered. Just another place in Irish lore her mother felt the need to share with her.

"Well, since we are both out here with the intention to patrol, shall we get to it? We can keep chatting as we go along. Did you have any specific place you were headed off to?"
