OOC Information Welcome to Brenning and Lyti's co-captain party for their cubs Svana and Kekäle, who have both been made captains! Don't know them? That's okay. You're still welcome. There's plenty of meat and mint to go around.
Just a few OOC notes before we begin: Who's There
Freeborn of all sorts, celebrating. Thralls, keeping the freeborn supplied with whatever they like.
Setting
It is evening, just about sunset, and the day is pleasant, if a little bit windy. The party is located near the practice sands, just in case people want to get rowdy. It's also far enough away from the water that an inebriated lion will really have to work at it to drown.
Your Hosts
Svana (Tanakako) - A young captain, Kekäle's sister. She trained as a reaver under Captain Lucivar. Kekäle (Princess_Feylin) - Another young captain, Svana's brother, who was made a captain after his sister. He trained as a reaver under various captains, including Lucivar, briefly. Asoiaf (Princess_Feylin) - Sister to Kekäle and Svana. Not a reaver. Kind of moody and sharp-tongued, but fiercely loyal to her family. Brenning (Princess_Feylin) - Father to Svana, Kekäle, and Asoiaf. A reaver who is fiercely in love with his wife, Lyti, and proud of all his cubs. He is easy-going as long as you don't make his wife uncomfortable. Lyti (Princess_Feylin) - Mother to Svana, Kekäle, and Asoiaf. A proper Stormborn lady.
And I guess that's everything you need to know. Don't forget to quote people so they know your character is interacting with theirs! (Because I certainly miss that kind of thing all the time).

Lyti Ever since her daughter Svana was promoted to captain, Lyti had been feeling like she was on top of the world. It was true that she had been raised in the belief that a Stormborn lioness should not want to be a reaver or a captain, but Lyti saw no reason to discourage her daughter from pursuing that course along with her brother Kekäle if it made her happy. In fact, she felt a little smug that it had been her daughter who was promoted first. Not that she wasn't proud of Kekäle, but it was still harder for lionesses to achieve a captaincy. So, naturally, she had to throw a party. She had waited until Kekäle was promoted, too, because she had never doubted he would be, and now that the day had come and an absurd amount of mint had been laid by along with literal heaps of fresh-slaughtered meat, everything was ready. She hoped. "Do you think I set aside too much meat?" she asked her daughter Asoiaf, who had been surprisingly helpful throughout the preparations Asoiaf "Yes, I think so," Asoiaf replied drily to her mother's anxious question. The sarcasm came automatically, despite her efforts to be pleasant tonight, for her family's sake. "Sorry. I think everything is going to be wonderful and you shouldn't worry about a thing. Svana and Käle are well-liked, and people would show up and have a good time even if you weren't supplying a meal and mint," Soja made herself say. Her assurances sounded mechanical to her ears, but the way her mother's fur relaxed along her spine and her tail stilled made it clear she had said the right thing for once. She glanced over at her siblings, the ones who were being celebrated this evening, and was startled to realize she wasn't actually envious of their acclaim. She knew how hard they had worked for their captaincies, and they deserved to be recognized. Not that she planned to be all happy-happy, joy-joy. That wasn't her. With that in mind, she made her way over to Svana to make a preemptive apology.

Svana had been surprised when their mom had spoken of a party, but she was more than happy to go along with the plan. After all, she was rightly proud of her rank and that her parents were proud for her too, and secretly she thought it was actually kind of nice to have a celebration about it all. Not that the pride didn't celibrate verious occassions on a fairly frequent basis, but to be recognised by her friends and family, along side her brother... Yeah, it felt good. And Svana could hardly be accused of being flower blooded so all the extra attention didn't faze her in the slighest.
Looking up from her conversation with Kekale as their sister approched, she grinned broadly, moving to butt her head in a friendly manner against Asoiaf by way of greeting. Svana had never given her sister's dark temper any attention and treated her just the same as she did the rest of her family, always free with her affection, though it was more often physical than verbal. "How is mother holding up?" She asked, glancing at the fretting lioness with a warm and fond expression. Svana may now be a Captain, but she loved her family and was not afraid to show it. Pale gaze returning to her sister she grinned again. "Worrying about the meat I assume?" She had seen Lyti pacing back and forth near the pile and could imagine her mother's nervous commentary.

Asoiaf Soja accepted Svana's headbump and returned it. Unlike Svana, her affections were rarely demonstrated physically. Or at all, for that matter. But she was making an effort this evening. "Yes. Worrying about the meat," Soja agreed. "I think we've reached the point where she's going to start making up things to worry about if she's not kept sufficiently distracted. I hope her friends show up soon." Specifically, Soja hoped Karaliskas showed up soon because her mother tended to feel more cheery after a visit from her purple friend than a visit with her friend Naaja. There seemed to be this perpetual competition going on between them, but in her estimation, Lyti was definitely the winner, as she could boast an adoring husband and successful cubs. Naaja's husband hated her and they had no cubs, and Karaliskas didn't even have a husband. Basically, Soja wanted her mother's friends to show up so that her mother could feel superior. "Do you think Käle's friend is going to show up?" She was talking about Brynhildr, the lioness with whom her brother was planning to have cubs to satisfy both of their families' expectations. Naaja Naaja hated this. She was going to show up too early because she simply couldn't stand to be in the den with her husband any longer. In point of fact, he had actually told her to get the hell out of the den before he hit her, but she had departed with dignity instead of scurrying out like a scared rodent, so she considered herself the victor in their exchange. Sort of. Except now she was going to be showing up early. And alone. She knew how that would look, no matter how quiet she kept about her marital troubles. Lyti was perceptive and had asked in the past if things were all right between Naaja and Skjoldr. Kindly, but it still made Naaja feel as if she was failing. The fact that she was attending a celebration of Lyti's cubs' triumph didn't help matters. Nevertheless, Naaja made herself smile and stride into the celebration, the first guest to arrive and all by herself, and walk over to Lyti, who was clearly beginning to fuss.

Svana The returned greeting had been unexpected, but Svana's smile grew wider, tail curling in pleased reaction at her sister's welcome. She was glad it seemed Soja was enjoying herself today, or at least that she was more relaxed than usual. Lifting her head again to watch their mother, Svana huffed softly, amused and wry but affectionate as Lyti continued to fret. "I'm sure she will be busy soon enough." Pausing as a dark-coated lioness walked up, Svana grinned. "There we go. Naaja will distract her for now." Svana wasn't typically interested in gossip and mint-induced chatter, but she had heard of the troubles her mother's friend was havign with her husband. Svana half wanted to go talk to Naaja about it, but she wasn't sure what she could even do to help the situation. If Naaja wasn't prepaired to leave the male, Svana wondered what else would work. Though she half wanted to go beat the guy up just for making her mom worry. Soja's question tugged her mind off the lioness who was arriving and she looked again at her sister. One ear flicking thoughtfully before she shrugged. "Maybe. Don't see why she wouldn't." She replied with a casual shrug. Svana only vaguly knew of her brother's plans, though honestly she didn't see why he felt such a step nessassary. She wasn't planning on cubs any time soon, that was for sure. But equally, if that was what he wanted, or felt like he should do, she wasn't going to contradict him. Besides, she was kind of curious as to what his cubs would be like, and she looked forward to taking them under her paw and training them into reavers. "Are they going to wed too?" She asked Soja in a much quieter voice, curious. Lennart The large white lion approched the gathering. He knew it was kind of early for the party, but he had little else going on and he wanted to officially congratulate the two siblings on their new ranks. He had met and fough with Kekale but the young male had moved on before he really got to know him. Svana though, he had seen her grow from a fresh faced adolescent on her first Viking, to a fully skilled lioness with as much bravery and skill as any reaver. He knew Lucivar was exceptionally proud of both of them. Drawing closer he let his heavy paws guide him, aiming towards where the siblings' mother was pacing. After all it was only polite to introduce himself to the hostess of this gathering first. Princess_Feylin I'm assuming Sam and Lissa will show up after more lions have arrived, as she was off talking to him for a while?

Asoiaf Soja actually rather liked Brynhildr. Thought she had a good head on her shoulders, even if she wasn't quite sure why she was having cubs with her brother, or why he was having cubs with her, as neither of them seemed particularly interested in marriage, as far as Soja understood things. Which was, admittedly, a very limited understanding. "I'm really not sure," Soja replied. "It doesn't seem like it, but I suppose they could easily change their minds. Especially when the cubs turn up. I hear having babies does strange things to your head." It was one reason Soja herself was in no hurry to have them. She didn't want to turn into a strange, cooing and gushing version of herself that existed only to feed and care for a bunch of cubs. She was sure she would meet her quota for that helping care for her brother's brood, but with the added bonus of being able to return them to their parents when she was tired of the little things. Tanakako Yeah. I figured a little later would be for the best. Lyti "Naaja!" Lyti greeted her friend. She was pleased to see her, although she was also a little surprised to see her alone. She had been under the impression that Naaja would be attending with Skjoldr. That wasn't something she intended to bring up unless Naaja did though. She knew that marriage had not been one either party particularly wanted, and that things were still uncomfortable between the pair, and as long as she never saw any signs that her friend was being abused, she would keep her curiosity to herself. "I'm so glad that you're here. I could really use your advice. My daughter, Soja, assures me that I haven't laid by too much meat, and yet I can't help worrying that there won't be enough of a turnout to justify so many kills." In truth, she wasn't all that concerned, but Naaja was clearly stressed and it would probably soothe her to be placed in a position of having her opinion sought after. She had always liked to be the authority, had Naaja. Naaja Naaja breathed a faint sigh of relief as Lyti made no mention of the fact that she had arrived alone. In truth, she didn't know if Skjoldr would show up later, or at all, and she wasn't sure if she wanted him to. If he came, there was an excellent possibility that they would fight, and it would be ugly and public, which was something they had tried to avoid, but if he didn't come people would speculate and they would undoubtedly end up fighting later in the privacy of their den. There was really no winning. "It looks like Soja's correct," Naaja answered, looking at the impressive selection of kills Lyti had arranged for and trying to remember which of Lyti's daughters was Soja. Was it the sulky one? "Did you have Txur kill all of them himself?" It was stupid, meaningless conversation, but it was also comfortable and familiar and calming. Naaja was glad she had decided to attend after all. She almost hadn't. Which reminded her... She was about to ask about Lissa when a pale-furred lion approached. She beckoned him over with a smile. Tanakako Sorry. Just realized Lennart was coming over to talk to Lyti.

Bryndis padded casually toward the small, but growing, cluster of lions, instantly catching sight of Svana's bright red pelt beside Asoiaf's equally unique coat. Odd; I don't see Käle, she mused silently as she altered her direction to head for her sisters. When her mother had told her of a party in honor of her sibling's promotions, she expected them both to be the first to arrive. Unconcerned for the time being, she shrugged the thought off as she reached her sisters - who seemed to be discussing Käle and his mate.
Bryndis dipped her head in greeting to Asoiaf, then nudged Svana's shoulder. "Congratulations, Captain," she smiled. Truly, Bryndis was proud of her sister's achievement. Maybe it was because she had only just decided to finally pursue being a Reaver herself, but she found she wasn't the least bit jealous of Svana and Käle's success. Really, she found her kin inspiring, especially her sister. "Where's the happy couple?"

Svana Svana flicked an ear thoughtfully. The whole business of cubs seemed.... So far away for her. She hadn't seriously considered having any though she assumed she would eventually. After she found a suitably strong male that she could take as a mate. But she nodded slowly, considering Soja's comment as she gave her sister an enquiringly look. "Strange things? I guess..... " She added, a little dubiously. Could having cubs really make a couple fall in love? Or at least decide that they liked each other envy to settle down together. Recognising that her musings were starting to confuse her she shrugged, grinning at Soja again. "Well, if she turns up maybe we can ask." Pausing she spotted Bryndis, waving her over with enthusiasm until their sister joined her and Soja. Beaming at Bry's greeting Svana bumped her back with one solidly muscled shoulder. The red-coated sister was of a similar build to her two siblings, but the evidence of her trade was apparent now that the three all stood together. Visible in both her scars of which she already carried several, and the compact muscle that moved smoothly under her pelt. Still sleek and lithe, she was obviously also powerful. "Thank you," She grinned at Bry's congratulations, teeth flashing in a wide smile. "Couple? Oh, Brynhildr? Actually we were just discussing if she might turn up tonight. Though I haven't seen her to ask myself." Svana replied, glancing at Soja for confirmation. Lennart Having realised that their hostess was deep in conversation with another, Lennart had slowed up, looking about with the intention of maybe talking to someone else, most likely Svana and her sister. But then the lioness with Svana's mother spotted him and beckoned. Certainly never one to be accused of rudeness, Lennart resumed his walk, arriving before the two females with a friendly smile and a bob of his head. "It is a good day to die." He greeted both lionesses, his smile of welcome easy and genuine. There was likely few lions in the pride as laid back and relaxed as Lennart, one of the older reavers and one of the tutors Svana studied with during her time under Captain Lucivar, Lennart was a soft spoken lion who nevertheless seemed to command attention whenever he was near, and it was not only down to his impressive bulk and striking bright white coat. "You must be proud of your children. Two to Captain at so young an age." While more true of Svana than her brother, Kekale was still young for an adult to have attained such a high rank. There was truly iron in the bloodline of this family.

Quote: Stiphen urged her cousin along, pushing against her rump with her broad shoulders like she was trying to move a boulder. One would think she was trying to move a boulder with how stubborn her cousin Brigh was acting, but the spotted lioness was not about to give up this battle. She would get her sickly cousin to show her face at some event like a true Stormborn.
"Move yer arse, girl! They'll eat through the meat and mint before we even arrive!" Stiphen hissed, giving her cousin another gentle shove forward.
Even with Stiphen trying to move the horse to water, she wasn't about to be harsh with it in it's delicate state. Her annoyance with her cousin's will to seclude herself from normal Stormborn activities wasn't so great that she'd disregard the fact that Brigh was still delicate and ill most days from her sight.
Stiphen's pudgy stomach growled mercilessly before she gave Brigh another push into the jubilous circle full of life, "I hope they don't eat through the damned meat. I'm starving."Quote: Brigh's neck rattled as Stiphen pushed her along. Covered in bone-made necklaces and other adornments she had found laying around the forest, Brigh had tried to make herself look somewhat presentable to the festivities regardless of her choice in attending. Her keeper, Stiphen, had made it very clear that she would be showing up to these festivities despite her penchant for wanting to stay for away from the main pride incase she were to cross paths were her unfortunate sire. Or just any other person in general. But she was being given absolutely no choice in this matter, and her grandmother had been no help with this either.
Perhaps her other cousin would be there and she could seek shelter behind him. He was good about accommodating what could arguably be seen as hermit like behavior at this point. Now only if she could actually find Gidjeon. Or did the aspiring Lawspeaker find himself too busy for these sort of festivities.
"Stop shoving me, Stiphen! You know how I feel about being touched." Brigh grumbled as she was once again shoved along and force to clink and clamour.

Sebor didn't know everyone in the Stormborn. She was pretty sure it was impossible to put a name with every single face. She did, however, catch word of gossip fairly quickly, so it wasn't long before she heard the news of a female gaining the title of Captain. Although she knew she had enough experience to claim the title as well, Sebor had no desire to climb that high in the ranks. She was used to looking after herself and that was all, not a band of rowdy and perhaps unruly Reavers. No, the title of Captain was not for her, but that didn't mean she didn't feel a swell of pride with the news. She was fiercely determined to prove females were just as capable as males when she joined the pride and, although views had changed since then, she knew it was rare for a female to reach that high of a rank. She padded through the gathered lions, ignoring all but Svana. There were already others gathered around her to congratulate her, some that looked as if they were related, so she held back for a pause in the conversation to speak to her. "A hearty congratulations are in order," she said, a fond look on her face. "You're an inspiration to females, young and old alike."

[Valka Freeborn] Valka ushered her brother Njord along as the two made their way to the party. She was hoping to one day be a captain, maybe even a priestess or something of the sort. She had very high aspirations for herself. She wasn't going to settle at reaver, not her. She was fairly certain her brother was shooting for the sky as well, but who was to say. She gave him a mischievous grin and she looked forward as they started to spot the few adults that were already there. Were there no other cubs? Hmmm. This could prove to be quite interesting then. Not that she was a trouble maker of the sorts.Okay so she was a little hellion and would take on anyone who challenged her, but so what? She had to make her presence known and in a good standing. She even fought her own siblings for status amongst them. She wasn't one to discriminate. "Njord, She hissed at him, "Don't make either of us look like a fool. I doubt you will as I know you have similar goals as I, but still." She said glaring at her brother. She would not tolerate being made a fool in anyway. Even as a cub she already had high standards and had an image for herself, at least in her mind. As they got closer she walked tall and proud, not like some meek little cub that was new to the world. Oh no, she would figure out things eventually, but all she knew was that there was a party with Captains and Reavers and other Freeborns and a couple thralls and she was going to make sure they both got to see it.
[Njörðr (Njord) Freeborn] He hated it when she got like this, but it didn't bother him too much. But she could still be bossy and then he'd have to put her in her place, which he had a time or two. Though the odds were against him, he rarely got a good hit on her but when he did she backed down. The two of them, as much as they may fight, were near and dear and he wouldn't let anything happen to her. He would make sure of that. She may be strong and hard headed, but she could still be hurt and he was well aware of that. He doubted she was aware of it though. Which was why he always tagged along at her "beckoning." He gave her the satisfaction of having the control, but he was still in charge, most of the time. "Oh please, you think I would embarrass us here? You need to get yourself in check." He growled back slightly as they got nearer. As they did so and she stood proud and tall like a lady would, he stood and walked much like a male on a mission. Mainly it was to ensure nothing happened to her, but he was also all ears. He wanted to get in on the news and what was going on. The two of them had similar aspirations in their lives and he was going to be soaking in everything he could get his tiny paws onto.

Rook The black coated reaver had actually arrived with Svana, forced to accompany her only because his Captain knew him so well. Left to his own devices he wouldn't have been half as close as he was, even though he was laying silently at quite a remove from the growing gathering of lions as it was. A taciturn male, Rook rarely spoke unless it was truly unavoidable, and even then he usually only spoke two or three words at a time. It wasn't because he was slow, for Rook possessed a sharp mind. No one really knew why the male spoke so little, it just seemed to be the way he was. Most often found resting away from the pride in general, his black coat blending into the shadows where he usually stayed. Even now he lay against the side of a large bolder, his dark coat blending into the shadows cast by the solid rock. Only the irregular twitch of his tail tip drew any attention as he lay, watching the party gather pace, one forelimb curled against his chest as he reclined on his belly, purple eyes following the lions as they milled around and greeted one another. A commotion off to one side caught his attention and he turned his head, the white lock of fur in his mane about the only part of him that betrayed the movement. His gaze swiftly landing on a slender female with many bones drapped about her neck. He studied her, noting her incredible thinness, and the way that she fought her companion's push despite obviously having very little strength of her own with which to resist. Unable to help himself he watched as they moved slowly closer, attention caught by her. The prettiest lioness he had ever seen.

Never one to be left out of the excitement, Runa padded along after her siblings. She wasn't quite as ambitious as the other two dark cubs, but that didn't mean she didn't have her own aspirations. For example, her biggest goal now was to find the food and have some of it. When she got older she'd certainly change how she thought about the world, but for now she was content to learn, listen, and experience everything there was to offer. "Wait up guys," she called out to Valka and Njord, running a little to catch up to them. "There's lots of lions here already...do you think they ate all the food?" she asked as she squeezed between her two white-maned siblings. "I'm starving."

Asoiaf Soja smiled as she and Svana were joined by Bryndis, grateful that her sister only nodded to her instead of greeting her with a more physically demonstrative salutation. Soja appreciated when her family remembered her preferences for that sort of thing. "I'm not sure," she admitted. "But I think it's high time Käle, at least, put in an appearance. I'm going to go look for him." She hoped that she wouldn't come across them in a compromising position. She doubted that she would. Brynhildr, at least, seemed like a sensible enough lioness that she wouldn't do something scandalous in public like that. Soja would not have had the same certainty about Käle's good behavior, but she had faith in Brynhildr. On her way away from her two sisters Soja passed a lioness with lovely purplish markings streaking across her face and nodded to her with a smile that felt only a little forced. She was getting better at this. Haldor Halle was running. He could hear his brother beside him, keeping pace effortlessly. It was infuriating how Rask seemed to be his match in every way, since his goal was to be the very best at all things, and it was hard to do that with a brother who was at least as good as he was at everything. "Look!" he exclaimed after dodging a blue lion who seemed like he was probably a thrall. "I told you there would be other cubs." Rask had doubted him, saying that this was a grown-up celebration and there wouldn't be any other cubs, and so they would obviously be spotted right away and sent home, but it didn't look like that was going to happen. Halle grinned, pleased to have been right. "When I become a captain, the party's going to be even bigger," he announced to no one in particular. Rasmus "Ja, ja. You were right," Rask agreed, not interested in arguing. He still wasn't sure they wouldn't be sent home, but at least if they were, the other cubs probably would be, too, so it might be less embarrassing. "We should introduce ourselves," he said, cutting off any further boasting from his brother and walking purposefully toward the three cubs that had arrived before them. "It's a good day to die," he greeted them, feeling very like a grown-up. "I'm Rasmus and this is my brother Haldor." He wasn't usually this brave about talking to strangers. That tended to be Halle's thing, but tonight he was going to make an effort to be bold. This would be a great story to tell later. Definitely not when their parents were around though. Neither of them knew Rask and Halle had sneaked out.

[Valka Freeborn] She stopped in her tracks when a familiar voice hit her ears and she smiled and looked back towards her favorite sister. "Runa, yes join us. And I'm fairly certain we can get you something to eat. If not I'll fight someone for their food for you." She said with a firm nod of her head. She glanced over and Njord and they had an understanding. Valka and Runa may be the youngest but no one would mess either either of them.
Her flame color gaze turned towards the two male cubs that seemed to have now joined the party and she looked them both over for a moment assessing them. They seemed strong and quiet healthy and worth their time. Not to say she wouldn't have talked to them otherwise. She listened as Rasmus introduced himself and his brother Haldor. Twins, interesting. "It is a good day to die." She responded in return. "I am Valka and this is my brother Njord and sister Runa." She said proudly. This was her future competition for captain or lawspeaker. She would not show weakness.
[Njörðr (Njord) Freeborn] Njord was pleased when Runa showed up and wedged herself between the two of them. These were his favorite siblings, not that he'd ever openly admit that. "We will definitely get you some food." He said with a warm nod. His attention was stolen by the twin males and he eyed them much like Valka had. Interesting.
He gave a small nod of his head when she introduced then all. "We were on our way to get some food, care to join us?" He offered the two after his sister finished speaking. "It seems we're the only ones here. It'll be a fine tale to tell of later." He said with a sly grin. "Maybe fight us an adult for some food." Oh that would be something.
Princess_Feylin What are your plans for Rasmus?
