First off, I will state I did not draw these pictures. My lovely wife did. Here is her deviant art account if anyone is interested.

http://medusa171.deviantart.com/

Most of her recent stuff is stuff I asked her to draw for me though, heh.

Anywhoo, I started this thread to post pictures of my original characters and express my thoughts on them. Just a way for people to get know them a little better if interested. I hope everyone at least enjoys the art. I'm going to post the original pictures so they may be kinda big and if I stretch the page I'm sorry. sweatdrop

Kira (319) Threniten

User Image

The first picture of Kira my wife ever did. She is one of my oldest and most favorite characters. She was the antagonist in one of my first stories, but I've since reworked her through several different roleplays.

Originally she was a construct built by a mad wizard and abandoned, then empowered by a banished god and swept up into his machinations to return to power. She was eventually defeated, her power source destroyed, and she fell into dormancy. However, she was dug up and revived after a 2000 year nap, looking something like this:

Needless to say I ditched that whole story to adopt one that was much more fitting with that of the Fire Emblem setting. Her original powers all revolved around controlling plants, which unfortunately isn't really a thing in Fire Emblem, so instead I made her a dark mage with a hobby of botany. Though over time I fazed out her evil aspects, I have kept her true to her chaotic nature, and she's characterized by her wild looking eyes, pale skin with dark hair, grinning expression and bare legs with long flowing sleeves. I also associate the color of green and the number 319 with her.

By a twist of fate, I ended up adapting this same character into two different Fire Emblem characters. First off is the Kira I've played in the board game:
User Image

Hehe, you might have noticed my wife's art style has gotten a little more cartoony over time. It's always evolving and its interesting to see where it will go. I tried to incorporate aspects from the original character into a dark mage design. I might have gone a little overboard with the sleeves, lol, nonetheless I was happy. This character possesses most of the qualities of the original character, though is more excitable and giggly then usual.

But before I joined this guild, I was in a different Fire Emblem guild where I used this version of Kira.

Kit

User Image

Here she is a Manakete. I originally joined the guild with intentions of playing with this character, but it seemed Manaketes were too powerful to actually be allowed to be played, so I made Dark Mage Kira instead. I do hope to play the Manakete version sometime in the future. though.

I changed this character's name to Kit and gave her a backstory that ties her into being Kira's half sister (hence the similar appearance). She shares a lot of characteristics with Kira, but has more of a bratty, tsundere kind of personality. She knows she's a Manakete and talks a big game, despite only being a halfblood.

I've been thinking about getting permission to run a little adventure and board game fight from Rath that covers the past of these two characters and introduces them to the guild, but I want to make sure I have the proper time to run it first. Next I'll talk about Lilith, another one of my favorites.

Lilith Emberstone
User Image

I have several interesting sketches of Lilith, but unfortunately only one finished picture. Lilith is one of my newer characters. She was originally my very first Pathfinder character, a changeling fighter. In Pathfinder, changelings are the offspring of hags (a kind of evil monster), that are left with a human family to be raised and then called away at adulthood to be transformed into a hag themselves. Changelings have pale skin, dark hair, heterochromia and are spookily beautiful.

When I adapted her for a 4e D&D game, she became human but with demonic blood. When I transferred her to FEF, her original backstory stayed pretty much intact. Lilith isn't human, at least not completely. I just haven't figured out how to express that yet in a way that would make sense for Fire Emblem. Perhaps she could be the offspring of some nefarious malevolent entity, like the Avatar from Awakening is.

I originally picked the name Lilith before realizing all the religious and pop culture references to it. I just thought it sounded pretty. sweatdrop Unfortunately, it's stuck with the character now and I can't change it. Lilith is more comfortable in armor than a dress and is happiest when she is training or fighting. Due to bullying incidents when she was a child, she is very standoffish with people. She also knows she's not very bright and is afraid of being judged for that as well. However, if one can get past her aloof attitude, it becomes apparent she is quite the caring individual and goes out of her way to help others. She especially hates bullies and will often seek out and defend those that no one else would help.

First off, really enjoying your wife's art style, especially with her more recent cartoonish style.

Second, this might be of interest to you.

Thanks, she always enjoys receiving compliments. The morph idea is interesting, though it appears they are formed as full fledged adults, where Lilith is found as a baby. Still, might be a good angle to take. Definitely provides for some interesting story development.

Also, a problem with making her a morph is that they require quintessence in order to sustain their life.

And she'd have to lose her heterochromia.

And never feel emotion, but merely emulate the personality designed to possess.

There's so much debate about the origin of Lilith and who she actually was, it's crazy. Whatever, there's soo many names that are held by figures within religion, mythology etc that it's really nothing to worry about.

I named my OC Abel before I knew about the actual Fire Emblem character named Abel... and Abel's a character in the Bible, so I mean sometimes it's just hard to get away from lol

Never said that it was a perfect solution, just something that might interest since it fits roughly the same area as the original design.

Pathfinder is full of weird nonsense.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 11, 2016 5:39 pm

Well it definitely was a good idea, just too many inconsistencies. I'd have to rewrite her entire backstory. That fact that she is not human is not entirely important at this point anyway. If it comes up in the role play I'll figure it out then, maybe it can be tied into the story in some way.

Pathfinder is definitely great for character creation, enough character options to make your head spin, they just don't always translate into other games well.

Potential Future Characters

So I have two character slots left and a whole slew of characters I could potentially adapt to this guild. The key is finding ones that fit well into the FEF World/game system and don't overlap in personality or class with characters I am already playing. Most of my recent characters I have created are of the monster girl variety and thus don't fit very well with FEF. However, there is a ghost of mine I've been strongly thinking about.

Mitzka Aráethos
User Image

Mitzka is another one of my older characters. In her original story, she was the daughter of a wealthy noble family that controlled its lands through cruelty and terror. Though her parents were evil, Mitzka was not. She fell in love with Dresden, son of the head gardener of the family estate. Though they did their best to keep their relationship secret, her parents eventually found out and tortured the boy to within an inch of his life, forcing Mitzka to watch. After releasing Dresden, they made it clear they would kill him if they ever caught them together again.

This did not stop the young lovers, however. They hatched a plan to rally the people and cause a revolution to overthrow Miztka's parents. However, things did not go as planned. Such was the anger of the townsfolk at her parents' callous rule that they conspired to murder the entire family. When the uprising took place Dresden desperately tried to defend his love, but was slain in action and Mitzka herself was hung from a large tree beside the manor. A curse fell over the land after that, and the ghost of Mitzka would appear each night to murder those who led to her and Dresden's death.

Eventually her spirit was put to rest and the curse lifted, but that is a whole other story. My original thought for Fire Emblem was "Wow, her design looks a lot like a Revenant. I could totally play her as an undead that has somehow managed to retain her consciousness." But I shelved that idea in favor of playing Kira.

If I do play her, though, she would be a Troubadour/Mage/Pegasus Knight. In her original undead form, she had invisible claws that would tear people to ribbons, which doesn't work here, so I had to go with what her skills were in life. Painting, violin, etiquette, ballroom dancing, diplomacy... uh, a little bit of fire magic. Mitzka was every bit the aristocrat so she is no fighter. Magic is the only way for me to really go with her and I felt Troubadour captured her noble aspect.

Oh, here is how she looked in life.

User Image

I guess I could always play her as her living self, but where's the fun in that? She also had a brother, Kail, the only surviving Aráethos. He was kept secret and hidden away as a baby when the rest of the family was murdered. He plays an important role in the second part of the story where they put Mitzka to rest.

Kail Aráethos
User Image

With the addition of the Summoner Skill, I thought about perhaps playing Kail with Mitzka as his Phantom. However he is every bit the mage and though his personality is different from Kira's, his play style in the boardgame would be exactly the same. I'd prefer to play Mitzka as a standalone character, anyways. One more parting picture!

User Image

Kail with his wife, Petra--a Valentine's gift from my wife. As the story closed, they went on to have 5 kids and restore the honor to the Aráethos name.

Possible future characters part II

Fumiyo
User Image

Fumiyo is one of my newer characters. She came about as minor character from a fantasy Japanese-themed village roleplay. Originally she was just a giant, horse-sized, shadowy monster wolf that the players were supposed to fight and defeat. However, they started to RP being super cocky about how easy it would be for them to defeat it, so naturally the monster became more powerful.

Then the idea came to me. What if the wolf could turn into a cute girl! (I know, original, huh?) Thus, Fumiyo was born. She evolved to be a lot different from I originally intended. She was originally going to be bratty and childish, but she evolved to be this cool, sultry, seductress kind of character. I have used her in several stories now and she is usually in a position of leadership or a mentoring kind of figure, guiding players towards their goals. She's one of the very few characters I play that is openly flirtatious.

Personalty-wise, Fumiyo is cool and level-headed. Usually a step ahead of everyone else, she very rarely gets flustered. She is flirty, in control and greets everyone with a smile. There is always an enigma about her, as you can never be quite sure what she is thinking or where her loyalties lie, but her sweet words and sultry voice will usually put anyone at ease. To those she truly cares about, she will almost seem motherly to.

Her powers have always evolved around shadow, with her chief one being the ability to teleport long distances through shadows. She could also blink (teleport) short distances and condense shadow into a blade for attacks. She could transform into a monstrous, shadowy wolf creature or a cute little wolf pup if she wanted to sneak around incognito. Naturally, none of this translates into Fire Emblem! Her classes would be Wolf/Thief/Myrmidon and her special skill Shade. I'm actually interested to see if Rath eventually adds the Fox Spirit class from fates. If that happens, I'll probably make her that class. In past uses of this character, I have switched between her being a fox or wolf as she is partly inspired by the Japanese myth about foxes living long enough to gain a human form.

She also has a tail! You just can't see it from the angle in this picture.

Your wife has a really good sense of light and mass in the way she colors things! I really like it.

(Also, you might wanna fix the title, it's Kowsauni's art corner instead of Kowasuni's.)

My wife thanks you for the compliments, and it is suppose to be Kowsauni. I know it sounds like a Japanese word but I made this name up a long time ago, (like in middle school) before I had any knowledge of Japanese language.

Since you said you liked Lilith I'll show you the little doodle my wife did of her in a dress looking quite obviously out of her comfort zone.
