At Large
Prompt 1

Can be used toward Battle req (or RP req only if done with a friend)
Solo word minimum is 500, RP post minimum is 7

It was bound to happen eventually.

With rumors of great beasts roaming the shores of Yael, many mainlanders flocked across the sea to capture the exotic beasts. In no time at all, they returned with large scaled monsters, dangerously translucent serpents, and turtles that carried the earth. These traders traveled across the Mainland to parade the beasts, going from Matori to Zena and everywhere between. Soon enough, everyone had either seen the Yaeli beasts or at least heard of them.

And they were sure to hear about the beasts when they escaped.

With such little knowledge of the foreign creatures, the traders underestimated the animals. In no time at all, the Yaeli beasts escaped into the wilderness and ended up near your location. With new creatures all but knocking on your door, what do you do? Do you dare to try and tame them, or do you run them off back into the wilderness? You better hurry, because these creatures are lost and scared, and are sure to cause some damage before they are captured once more....

|| The Yaeli familiars have been spotted in the following locations: Tintural (Oba and Matori), Keldari (Jauhar/Chibale and Tale), Limbara (Sauti and Zena). Only individuals in set locations can encounter the specific familiars.

|| If you are located in Yael, respond to this prompt as if you witnessing a mainlander abducting one of the newly announced familiars. Do you step in or run away? Use the same rolls below, but instead of subduing the beast, you are rolling to test your success for freeing it. You may encounter any beast on Yael if you are located there, but you must declare which one you are facing when you make the roll.

Ujana couldn't have been kept at home if she wanted to after hearing all the gossip floating around.

Great beasts from Yael? Escaping? Dangerous monsters of incredible skill that could be ravaging the city?

As if she was just going to stay home after that!

Granted, she knew about as much on creatures as she did about interpretive dance so Ujana had gone to fetch the one person she thought could be counted on; Talisia. After all, who better to wrangle in these things than someone who actually like them, right?

"So, we're looking for a Tintural, right?" The merchant who had lost his 'wares' spoke of a huge shelled creature that wasn't very fast, but more than made up for that in size. Personally she had hoped for the translucent serpent, but what could you do. "How about we go around the water, see if it got thirsty or something?"

Big thing like that would need a lot of water to keep it going. That much even she could figure out.

Once more Ujana had snagged Talisia. Despite wanting a break after their last 'adventure', Talisia had been intrigued by the sounds of these new beasts. Always one to want to study and document the creatures of the world, the girl found herself agreeing to go. She did have to wonder what type of mess this would result in however...

"Any tintural should look like it's own moving island." Talisia commented with a nod, "But you're right...it probably would want water." Yael was an island, not a desert so these beasts truly would be out of their comfort zone. "You sure you need me? Seems like you came up with a good idea on your own." She couldn't help teasing slightly before moving forward. "There's a smaller oasis away from the city. Let's start there.

With that said she began to lead the way.

"Oh yeah, they've got those plants on 'em, right?" Ujana clucked her tongue, chiding herself mentally for not paying closer attention to the details. Beasts weren't all that special to her; they were either for eatin' or not. That's it. The only reason she was even out here was because of the promised adventure, and even that might wane once she actually saw the thing.

"Look, I'm going to be straight with you; if I see it and it fights me, I might end up eating it."
Ujana shrugged her shoulders. "Survival of the fittest and what not. Cept, I'm not gettin' paid if I eat it so I figure that's where you can come in. Talk real nice to it."

On the walk to the oasis Ujana twisted her braid into an updo and pinned it with a little carved bone comb. It was an unusually feminine thing for her to wear, but then again, she hadn't been the one to buy it. Medina was always trying to spiff her up; this time it just happened to catch on.

As they neared the water she tried to keep an eye out. "See anything?"

Talisia nodded, "Apparently they burrow in the dirt so much that they carry some of it on their backs." Did that mean their shells would be flatter than other similar creatures? She would have to look closely when they encountered the beasts.

At Ujana's comment, Talisia stumbled. Why did that not surprise her? "I'll uh make sure to try and keep it from doing that then." She shook her head with a small smile, "If you can just try to be a bit patient. I'm wanting to study it alive, not on my friend's dinner table."

Frowning, Talisia studied the area. "No..." Suddenly her gaze narrowed, "Are those moving plants over there?" Now that wasn't normal.

Well, hrm. If they did that then what were the chances of them actually seeing the thing and being able to recognize it? Ujana wasn't about to dig up half of this desert just to find the tintural.

"Uh huh, yeah, so long as it plays nice then I'll play nice." If it came at her all snapping jaws or fangs or whatever then she would bust some heads.

Turning her own head, Ujana had to squint to see what Talisia was talking about. At first she thought that the hybrid was just crazy, but when she looked the plants were moving...albeit very slowly. She didn't waste any time in moving closer to the moving foliage, though not so subtly she asked, "Hey if a tintural loses it's shell is it naked or homeless?" Ujana waited only a half second before snickering at her own joke, then pulling up short when she actually saw the thing.

It was very large, very odd, and very green. A dark, swampy green that made her lip curl. "Wow, I hope he wasn't planning on selling this thing for a lot."

"Well let's hope for that then." Talisia laughed lightly, "I really wasn't feeling much for stew today, so I'd rather not eat any of these guys." She understood that there could be a need for meats, but the hybrid even tried her best to stick to fruits and other plant options.

'Really Ujana?" Taliisa could only shake her head with a small smile. As she glanced towards the tintural the beast charmer frowned, "It's the plants. Most people want them for the herbs on their backs." Did they really have to capture the creature? She just wanted some sketches and perhaps they could see what they could pull from it's back...

"Do you think you can get close to it?" She had no idea of their habits. For all she knew it could have a dangerously sharp mouth or could tumble into them with its heavy shell...still it was strange watching that island move ever so slowly through the oasis.

"So, they're like a walking apothecary?" Ujana let out a low whistle, and nodded her head appreciatively. She wondered if her father had heard of these things yet; maybe he might want to have one around, if only to pick off the herbs from it's back.

"I'll try." The leaf girl stepped closer, trying her best not to sneak up on the creature. Her luck it would get pissed off and snap the moment it saw her. So far so good though; it seemed content just to lumber about, which was fine by her. When she got close enough to touch it, however, it raised it's large, clublike head and snapped at her fingers. She barely pulled them away before losing them. "Woah!"

"
"Basically, yeah. I assume it's because they prefer to burrow a lot so the dirt gets on their shells and grows plants there." Talisia's gaze sharpened as she peered towards the creature, "So if you took care of one and cleaned its shell for it then it wouldn't look so strange. Might even look like the ones on Matori." Not that there was anything wrong with being a walking apothecary. That definitely could come in handy for someone.

As Ujana approached the creature, Talisia walked along the backside. Perhaps he would be calm? As Ujana's fingers were threatened Talisia sighed. Of course it couldn't be that easy. "I don't think I can get a rope around it..." Almost as if it knew her thoughts the tintural shoved its head into its shell and she swore the beady eyes were glaring at her.

"I suppose it's not in the best of moods considering the situation..."

How did it do that? Ujana tried to copy the move by shrugging her head down as far as she could against her shoulders and was rewarded by the oddest case of double chin. She straightened her neck out with a grunt. "Okay, I've got an idea; what if we flip it onto it's back, and just kind of push it back towards town?"

The plants that grew on top of that mossy shell might snap off, but Ujana wasn't as much concerned about them as she was about her own fingers. That shell would glide through the sand as easy as any wagon she could think of.

"You think it'll let us do that so easily?" Shaking her head at her friend's antics, Talisia quietly moved closer to the beast. He seemed rather sturdy, so she had to worry about Ujana's plan. "Do you think he can be shoved? Someone would have to distract his mouth while the other pushes..."

She glanced between the two of them, "I'll see if he will eat any of the reeds growing around here..." Darting off the girl went to find some and came back with a handful, "Might as well, right?"

"Heck no, but I'm gonna do it anyway." She grinned. Like she cared if the thing would go along with her or not; Ujana wasn't about to sit back and let a tintural dictate her actions. If the thing hadn't wanted to be woman handled it should have run away faster, or stayed with it's master!

"Okay, you start shaking your reeds and I'll get to work." Ujana moved around to it's side, trying to get out of eyesight and lowered herself to the ground. For a moment or two she hesitated. What if it had extra teeth underneath it's shell? One way to find out. Ujana shook out her shoulders, braced her legs and grasped the shell. When she felt stable enough she started to shove.

The tintural seemed to immediately grip down into the sand, but she was persistent. She grunted, shoving harder than before to start to tilt him.

Feel free to wrap up lol

"Of course." Talisia chuckled. If there was one thing Ujana was good at it was at being persistent no matter what. Talisia moved forward and began to shake her reeds towards the beast. For a moment it worked and then Ujana started to try pushing it over. Oh boy. She could already imagine that this was not going to end well...

"Be careful of slipping on the sand!" Talisia called out before she went back to try and get the creature's attention, "Over here, big guy. Come on~" She wiggled a reed before its eyes and almost jumped back as its mouth snapped towards her.

Oooh he definitely was not happy with them. Not at all.

One more from you should do it. c: Also, I found out that Talisia would have had to roll over a 50 for them to be able to subdue it so the little guys gotta go free lol.

"Yeah, I got that!" Ujana called out. Her feet were already having a rough time keeping a grip in the sand, but she pushed forward. The muscles along her back strained as her arms propelled the tintural further and further...

For a moment he rocked back to her, and Ujana thought she might get stuck underneath him. Then Talisia seemed to catch his attention and in that moment she gave a great, heaving shove strong enough to topple him over onto his back. Too bad for Ujana that it didn't work; he must have pressed his entire weight onto the upturned side because in that instant he rocked back down to earth.

With a cry she slumped down onto the sand near the tintural, scooting back just enough not to get bit. Poor guy wasn't happy at all! Slowly she stood up and brushed her hands off on her pants.

"How about we just go tell the merchant where it is, and let him deal with it? Or we could just let him go; seems happy enough where he's at."

Yup. xD Sorry I should have mentioned it since she's technically stage 2 this rp.

Nodding, Talisia left the reeds by the tintural. "Sounds like a plan to me." Backing away the hybrid rejoined her friend, "Honestly, he seems pretty adapted to this little island of his. I think we'll just let it slip by, yes?" She flushed lightly, "If that's alright with you. Anyways this worked up an appetite! Let's go get something to eat and maybe a few drinks~ I'm feeling bold today~" Smirking the hybrid tugged at the leaf girl's hand and started to make her way back to the city.

Secretly she was glad they hadn't subdued the beast. She had plenty of information for her journal now and felt happier knowing that he was free in his new home.
