Right. Fine. So, she was going to give this whole patroling thing a shot. How bad could it be, right? All she had to do was spend part of the night walking around DC in her new get-up and keep people safe. Not a problem. She could handle that, ya know, if she knew how to properly fight. Still, Gwen had made the decision to give the whole Knight business a shot.

Powered up, Hy-Brasil made her way around the city. She has originally planned to stay on the ground but found that getting around the city, and not being seen, was near impossible that way. With some trepidation she took tot he rooftops and, surprisingly, found hopping from building to building to be quite exhilarating. There was something about defying death that was giving her quite the adrenaline rush. Still, she kept her wits about her. After all, if she jumped and missed or jumped where there wasn't anywhere to land she'd be in a load of trouble.

She meandered on the rooftops, glancing down alley ways and what-not to see if there was anything going on. She found nothing and she wasn't sure how she felt about that. On one hand, she was glad she didn't have to try and protect anyone since she wasn't sure she could, on the other hand, she felt like she was wasting her time.

It wasn't until she made her way towards the park that she caught sight of anyone and what perked her interest was the fact that said person was also utilizing rooftops to get around. Throwing caution to the wind and still not being very good at signatures, Hy-Brasil made her way to the other person. "Hey!" She waved as she got closer. "So, is it always quiet and boring on these patrols?" She questioned as she got within ear shot, assuming the other girl was more experienced at this whole patrol thing.

Sima was... not familiar with what she was doing at all. She'd powered up and had a large bone in her hands as she wandered around DC, not at all trying to blend in in the slightest bit. She seemed like she was wearing normal clothes, only no one really recognized her. Oh well. She swung the big femur bone this way and that and looked around before she jumped up on a rooftop when she was in an alleyway.

Her full name was Sima de los Huesos and she was a page of Saturn and she had no idea what that meant for her. Not really. Her girlfriend tried to tell her and yet...

She paused mid step on a rooftop and blinked because she heard a voice talking to her. Shifting a bit, the purple haired girl looked at the other and opened her mouth a minute. "Uh. ...I ..guess? It's.. It's my first one, you know? So I'm not sure how these things are supposed to go."

Hy-Brasil frowned a bit and sighed. "Well, it figures that two newbies run into each other." Standing next to the other girl now, Brasil noted that the purple haired girl was dressed in clothes that were a bit more on the normal side. Well, more normal than her own outfit that looked like she had just stepped out of a renaissance festival or something; Somehow, she found it a bit unfair, though the bone was odd. At least her own weapon, an incense stick, which was currently grasped in her left hand, was a bit more subtle. "Sorry, I didn't mean for that to sound rude. I just find it oddly amusing that the only other person I run into tonight is also on her first patrol."

"I am Hy-Brasil." She smiled, holding out her hand to the other girl. "Page of Earth."

"If you don't mind, maybe we can patrol together? We can try and figure some of this stuff out for ourselves. I don't know about you, but I've run into one of those youma things once already and I don't particularly want to possibly deal with one on my own yet." She winked with a chuckle. "Safety in numbers, right?"

"No, hey. I get it. We're both low level and we're hoping to be with a higher leveled character. It's all good." She shrugged it off and then hummed a little and took the proffered hand. "Ready for the longest title? Sima de los Huesos, Page of Saturn." She shook that hand and then grinned a bit more as her red eyes scanned, her braid whipping back and forth. There were teeth dotting the braid, the shape and size indicated human, and she had no idea. Sima hadn't actually looked at her hair yet.

"I don't mind it at all. Truth is I'm rather paranoid about this whole magical girl act. I mean..." She shrugged and sighed again. "Like, my fiance is apparently also a magical girl. But how are we chosen? Ugh. Nevermind.

"I haven't run into a youma yet either. I don't really want to, but I have a feeling it's inevitable. That and the other bad guys. The Negaverse. I heard some horror stories about them." Sima shivered a little and just looked around. "Though now I can't shake the feeling of being watched and followed."

Gwen blinked at the other Pages title. There was no way she was going to remember that whole thing let alone say it. "That's quite a mouthful of a name. Um, is it alright if I just call you Sima? Otherwise I'll probably just butcher it every time and you'll be wondering who the hell I am even talking to." Gwen smiled and shrugged apologetically. At least she wasn't lying to the girl and taking the opportunity to find out if a shortened version was alright. Some people could be terribly finicky about that sort of thing.

"I can honestly tell you I am not too sure about all of this either." She ran a hand through her hair, the other moving to her hip as she sighed. "Really it is all very surreal yet, but I've promised myself that I would at least give it a good, legitimate chance. Still, this whole secret war thing, and people being picked randomly, or so it seems, to be a part of it is just crazy to me."

The more Gwen thought on the whole topic it just seemed more and more absurd. Hence why she was trying not to let herself fester too much over the logistics of everything. Not yet anyway. There was a lot she had to learn and hopefully the puzzle pieces would start to click in place. Right now though she felt like she was playing with less than half the pieces at her disposal.

"Youmas are...not fun. At all. Not to mention ugly. The one I saw was like a giant rat but had these tentacles and..."A shiver ran up her spine thinking about it. "It just wasn't pretty. Mind, that was what triggered me to awaken though so when I first ran into it I didn't know what I was even looking at."

"As for the Negaverse people, I've not run into one yet. Truthfully, I don't know what I'll do when I do. Maybe they'll be willing to just walk away, or talk. I really don't know how aggressive they are. But I know what you mean about the feeling of being watched and followed. I am always looking around to see if anyone is following me cause the last thing I want is to be surprised."

"Sima is just fine," said the Saturn Page with a laugh and a grin. "I mean, I barely remember it. I don't know anyone with a title quite as long... Then again..." She canted her head. "I know one other knight other than you. Sooo, that's cool, I guess."

At least they were greenhorns together. They were bound to make tons of mistakes and get nearly killed a few times. Only until they found their footing, of course. Newbies were supposed to be mistake makers, but they also needed help and well, at the moment, they weren't getting much. AT least Sima de los Huesos wasn't.

Anyway, she got out of her head and snapped back to the conversation at hand and her red eyes narrowed in on the other page. "Ugh, rats? Ew, why?" Her brows knit at that. Rodents were not fun for her at all. She hated all kinds of rodents. "Okay, I'm hoping to get lucky enough that I never see a youma, okay. I don't know how I'd feel fighting another person, let alone some hell spawn creature. Think we can do this job without killing anyone or anything?"

"Well youma aren't so bad when they're killed. I mean, they kind just....turn into dust, BUT it can get all over." She thought back to the horrible dust that clung to her when Camelot had pretty much crunched the youma underneath him. It hadn't been at all pleasant. "But, I am certainly going to try and not kill anything. Especially another person. I mean...I really don't think I could do it, war or not."

And that right there was one of many reasons she didn't think she was well suited to the position she was now in. Didn't soldiers of war need to have the mindset that there would be casualties no matter what and to just....deal with it? Sure, it was a harsh reality and that reality was not something that Hy-Brasil really wanted to come to terms with.

"Let's...not go too much further down that path. I don't know if I really want to think about the 'what ifs' of this new job that we're in. I am sure there's a lot we don't know and maybe it won't be as bad as we imagine?" That was wishful thinking, but hey, she needed to stay positive right? Staying positive meant she was more likely to pursue more nights running around in her magical form.

"I have to admit though, as troubling as being in a war is, I find being able to hop around roofs with ease to be a lot of fun." She grinned. "It's really exhilerating to me and freeing. I could certainly head out a few nights a week just to enjoy myself. Though I doubt that's any real reason to participate in whatever we are stuck in." She laughed before glancing around.

"I guess we should...move around or something. Do this patrol thing correctly. Was there anywhere you were going or wanted to go? I was just moving around randomly."

"Good thing our uniforms basically auto wash themselves, yeah?" Sima smirked as she said that and just shrugged a little more. "...Well while I don't want to kill another person? If it's.. If it's honestly between them and me? I'm picking me."

She didn't know what kind of knight that made her, but that was her feelings on it.

But the other page was right. What-ifs while this new was tricky and Sima just scrubbed the back of her neck a bit, making the teeth in her hair clatter together as the braid moved. Stay positive. Sure. "My girlfriend's a knight, too. Mercury one. Mímisbrunnr is her name." A helpless, love-sick look came across her face as she thought of Mimis.

Oh right. Moving was part of patrolling, wasn't it? She shook her head out of her thoughts and then shrugged. "I was just making a big square, I guess. I don't know where Mimis is, so I can't go to her. There's like.. too many energy signatures for me to pin point where anyone really is and it's very confusing, so..." Her hand waved a bit in dismissal as her voice trailed off. "Randomly it is."

"Yea, I mean. If it came down to that..." Though, Hy hoped that it never came down to that point for her. She couldn't imagine what it must be like to have to make a decision between life and death by considering taking someone else's so she could live. That was....well...she just didn't want to really think about.

As they headed off in a random direction, Hy glanced over at the other page. "So, it must be nice having your girlfriend also be a knight. Is she as new as we are?"

Hy was content to leisurely move around the city. She had no real destination in mind and was very clearly just enjoying her time out and about getting to learn the city from a new vantage point. After all, it really wasn't everyone who could bounce around from roof top to roof top and learn the ins and outs of a city like this.

"Yea, the whole signature thing is odd. I am not particularly good at it myself. I mean, I know they're there, but I can't pin point anything and frankly, I forget to look for them too." After all, why bother looking for signatures if you didn't really understand what you were doing with them or how to pinpoint them? I should practice with that more I suppose.

Sima pushed a hand through her bangs and then took her hat off to push her hair down flat. It felt weird, not having it in the usual bun with the rest of it down.

"No, she's not. She's ...a squire now, I think." The purple haired woman thought about and then shrugged a little more. She continued to walk with Hy at this pace, actually quite enjoying it. Though the topic about her girlfriend was starting to make her edgy. They weren't doing so great lately.

Stop thinking about it. Just stop. It won't do any good.

"Yeah. I... actually have the same problem. I wonder if it'll get easier in time? Girlfriend seems to do fine with it, so I'm guessing it does. Maybe all we need to do is practice, eh?" She nudged Hy lightly and then grinned. Maybe, just maybe, Sima was flirting with the other page. That wasn't bad. Truth be told Hy was pretty cute, just the type she liked.

Hy smiled at the nudge and chuckled lightly. "Well there is that old saying that 'practice makes perfect'. It certainly couldn't hurt to work on it." She shrugged slightly and sighed. If Sima had been flirting with the red head, it went over Hy's head completely. Flirting just wasn't something she was use to doing anymore and truthfully she tried to ignore it being directed at her. In this care though, she had not expected nor thought that Sima would direct any attention at her and thus, was oblivious.

"Maybe we'll have to get your girlfriend to help us or another squire or knight? I mean, having someone to explain to us how this all works would probably be better than blindly playing around, right?"

Hy, at this point, was playing it safe. She still didn't understand much of anything at all and was hesitant to jump head first into things. She liked knowing what to expect. So far things weren't exactly what she had expected but they weren't terribly awful either so breaking even wasn't terrible in this case.

At least Sima seemed kind and open enough that this first patrol wasn't all that bad.

"That's true... We could work on it until it's spot on but I don't think it'll work with just two." After Sima laughed, Hy said something about getting Mimis to help and the purple haired girl paused before shrugging.

"I can ask... It's all I can do. She does her own thing a lot of the time. Hardly see her while we're on patrol. We go different routes, I think. Or... maybe we're just off schedule. But yeah. I'll ask and see what she says. Speaking of... Do we have like a phone system or something? So I can like... call you again and give you an answer or schedule a meet up? Call for help.." They better have some kind of messaging system. That'd be really lame if they just had to go it alone.

Blinking at the question Gwen really had no answer. "Uh...I, don't know. I would assume there's something? I'd hope there is, but I really don't know how to go about using it." With a frown she thought on the matter before shrugging. "I can give you my personal number but I don't have anything to write it down on for you. If nothing else it will work until we find out if there is a better system.

"I'd certainly appreciate your girlfriend helping though if she can. It would definitely shine some light on this whole knight business. If anything, you can ask her about a communication method if nothing else." With a chuckle Gwen glanced out over the city.

"Anyway, if you think you can remember it I'll give you. Unless you have something to write it down on?"

Sima just let out a helpless noise and then squinted, checking her pockets frantically. "Looks like I'm just going to have to remember it. That's OK. I'm pretty good with numbers." You had to be when you played as many video games as she did. So, the purple clad page wandered closer still and waited, watching the other's face.

"So just go ahead and say the number, slowly, and I'll remember it after the first go around. I'll shot you a text when things get back to normal." Her red eyes were narrowed in concentration. Serious game face time.

Hy raised a brow. "I'll be really impressed if you remember it." She chuckled but recited the number to the girl carefully and slowly. She even made a point to repeat herself twice so that the girl would have a better chance at remembering the digits. "I wish I could say I could attempt to remember your number but it's a hopeless cause there. I can sit and figure out sales stuff but memorizing numbers was never my forte." She shrugged.

"But feel free to give it to your girlfriend as well. It certainly can't hurt to have more friends out here." With a smile the page sighed and stretched her arms up and over her head. intertwining her finger she stretched her body upwards before sighing happily and dropping her arms.

"The three of us will definitely need to meet up together and see what we can do. I'd appreciate learning from someone who has been at this longer than me. I feel like I am just blindly doing whatever I can but it's probably not very productive in the end."
