He had memories of the Rift. The grand opening of the place as Tanzanite lead them through before their fight. He remembered the place he asked for the assistance from the Flea Queen youma to use against the Chibi senshi and the hunting for crystal for his wedding rings.
It was a place of youma. He never once heard of someone like Cadeus being anywhere in the castle or the Rift. In fact, he had no idea that was anyone there that shouldn't well be, and he was curious where he had been. Not only that, but power was power and with it came all kinds of strings.
Insuring he was alone, he walked up the hill, looking out for the figure before stopping in the field atop the hill. It was brisk, but he had many layers as usual for his uniforms.
"Are you still here, Caedus of another planet." The figure already stated he was an alien so who did he know if he was even a 'man' to begin with.

"I am," came a voice from his side. Caedus was sitting on the ground, a bit of a distance away. His back was pressed against one of the few sizable rocks and he seemed to be reclining against it. In his bandaged hand, between two fingers, he held a withered flower. His golden eyes were fixated on it, half lidded and tired. No other features were clear, and he did not immediately look up to greet the Knight. When he did, it was with caution and curiosity. He lowered the flower only slightly, resting his hand on what must have been his knee and letting the plant droop between his fingers. "You have need of me?"

He turned to the figure, watching the little flower in his grasp be twirled.
It was startling how much then figure reminded him of Woseman, and he couldn't help but feel his heart race at the memory of his rookie years in the Negaverse when he was spared.
"I have questions." He moved closer but stopped at a distance due to remembering his reluctance to be close to anyone.
"Like how you escaped from the Negaverse base in the first place and if there are other prisoners? If you there for a treaty between two planets, you must be some sort of highest ranking official where you come from. Why was there no repercussions to Earth to get you back?"

Caedus had suspected questions; he cocked his head and continued to glance up at the man. He made no effort to stand. "I cannot answer all of those questions, but I will do my best." He rested against the rock again and closed his eyes, as if trying to pool all his focus into answering the questions. "I was trapped with many prisoners, but I doubt they would be of interest to you. There were more youma there than I could count, but never did I find anyone capable of a rational thought. They were monsters. But no one came for them, or us. Logically…" He was quiet, and swallowed. "…I saw my friends slaughtered. If," he sounded hopeful, "Any survived, it would not surprise me if they thought we were dead. If Beryl began her war, entering a war zone would not be wise. I was not merely taken captive. She tried to kill us. All of us. I would not blame them if they assumed the worst."

He knelt down, but didn't get off his feet to full sit. The figure's exhaustion was contagious, but he also hoped being more on his level would ease the high tensions that the thing always seemed to be under."I don't expect you to answer anything without a give and take. I can answer what I can in return with that same degree." He wouldn't put the Negaverse more at risk than Metallia went.
"The youma outside towns are feral. Most are, and the ones with rational thought are put to better use with the officers. This is the first I've heard of any prisoners, but if Beryl was the only one who knew, then that information is lost to others and possibly only know to Metallia only." He doubted the mass of power wouldn't know all or maybe didn't care.
"If they find out after this attack or that you left, if they haven't already, then that does put all the other prisoners at risk. i suppose after this long, death would be a blessing." And if they didn't find out, maybe it would be smart to find out where the others were.
"Would you want to see your comrades freed or would you want them blessed with death? If so, a location in any description would be useful. I have seen my own comrades suffering in torture and dark before. I would not wish to ever prologue that."
And then he raised his filled crystal.
"Strange you kept these after all this time. That they weren't confiscated. Are they yours or from the Rift? Energy gathering, I've assumed all this time, was on the side of Chaos."

Caedus shook his head. "You misunderstand the conditions of my imprisonment. There were no guards. No cell. Only a room, which we could not escape. We were rounded up, together. I was pushed into the area with the youma, but I do not think they knew I was there. If they had, I suppose they would have killed me on the spot. I saw some of my comrades killed, while we were fleeing. We were trying to return to our ship, to escape. But they cut us off. I searched. I had years to search. But I never found a comrade of mine down there. I have no choice but to think that they were slaughtered. If they were alive—if there was a chance they were alive—then I would want them freed. But," he sighed. "…I was alone, down there. At least, alone with the youma. And they cared little for crystals. They were not confiscated because there were no guards. And I am very protective of my crystals. I had more, but many of them were sacrificed to sustain myself. I would not be alive had I not had them. But then," he shrugged, eyes still on the man in front of him. "I have always had a fascination with them. The crystals I handed out are synthesized. They have nothing to do with Chaos."

Gevaudan was silent through Caedus' rememberance of his friends. "I can barely imagine the full scope of the torture you have been through. Mine was only a sampling compared to your misery."
To this he did finally sit and laced his hands together, focusing one narrow eye upon him. "I know that after so long in the dark the desire to be home is unbearable, but what you propose and your disappointment with Queen Beryl's passing also say you are a creature of Revenge." A smile grew behind his hands. "I can understand that also."
He took out his Crystal, made fat with every collecting.
"Do you have any more? If there are any left from before, let me fill them. They serve you no purpose empty and in your condition, you could never fill them. I promise to return them as I want as badly back into that castle as you want to stike against it."

Caedus watched the Knight for a moment, as if debating his words. Finally, he nodded and reached into his robes. He removed the bag he had at the meeting and produced a few more crystals. It was a small handful, but he opened his palm and held them out to Gevaudan. "…I cannot decipher your motivations," he said as he held them out. "You seemed sympathetic towards the Negaverse, before, but you seem to harbor a great anger. What…is your intent, in the Castle?"

He took the crystals and pocketed them before he even answered. "I'm a traitor to them, but many of them were ones I fought beside. I have seen many leaders, good people, fight in this war only to be punished for doing what was good for those under them but not for the wishes of their superiors. For Metallia. I still want to save them. I still want to protect my planet just as they do."
He rose up, dusting off his clothes. "What I want is to push Metallia off it's pedestal for thinking people are so easily used and can't do anything against it."
"That it's not the only being with power."
He took out one of the empty crystals and looked over to him. "Would a energy boost help your frail condition? You lived off of them to survive this long, and you're not much use to anyone like this."

Caedus shook his head. "I am in no condition to receive energy. I am afraid it would be wasted on me. I appreciate the offer," he said, assuming that had been the intent of asking. "…But food and rest are enough, for now. I will use the energy to fulfill my end of the bargain: a passage into the realm of the Negaverse for those that wish to utilize it, and to construct a bridge from this world to mine. And then, I will leave you in peace. As much as possible, at least. Tell me, though. If you do not mind." He leaned forward, watching intently. "You are a traitor to the Negaverse? What did you do?"

He regarded Caedus for a moment as if debating if there would be any consequences to speaking about himself, and shrugged in a small surrender. Crossing his arms, he looked down at the man. In fact, he hadn't torn his eyes away at any point from him.
"The same as you, I was taken prisoner with my comrades. I was tortured with them for several days, and yet even then, without anyone knowing where we were and no way to communicate with our side, we thought we would waste away there until we were no longer of use. My superior sacrificed her humanity to free us, but those that hurt us had gotten away. Like you, I wanted to strike back for what had been done."
His gloved hands gripped his shoulders a little more tightly. "However, I was made a traitor as it was against orders, and I went against those orders otherwise. I was punished and set as an example, and because I still felt no justice was made, that the goal of the knights of the Negaverse had been mislead by Metallia, that those who were still alive might be put in danger for my actions, I switched sides to better aid the true objective."
His eye softened slightly at Caedus. "If you get back home, would your people punish you for aiding in a war? Have you considered you too might be labeled a traitor for your participation, and view your ideas of revenge as unjustified or foolish?"
Kneeling down again, he looked at the entity seriously. "If you come home not to open arms but to punishment, seek sanctuary back here."

For a moment, Caedus contemplated Gevaudan's question. "I do not think I would be punished. I am only doing what needs to be done to ensure my survival. Aiding in a war…is against our usual activities, but it is not as though we have not seen battle. I do not feel as though I have much of a choice. This is more than just revenge. Anger consumes me, I do not deny this. But this is about more than revenge. Your planet is nursing a cancer that will destroy it. I do not have the means I wish I did to aid you, but I do not wish to see Earth fall. I do not wish to see Metallia gain such power. But. Should…" He was quiet, and seemed to had to fight to find his voice. "…Should I find my world has fallen, or should my welcome be ill received…I am grateful for the offer. I would relocate to Earth. And I thank you. There are times I do not feel welcome, so know that your words mean much to me."

He smiled back. "I can sympathize with the unwelcoming part, but there are some things you have to do that will not be well received." He rose up, patting the crystals in his pocket.
"I'll return these to you full. I have a knack for energy collecting. If I never see you again after we take on Metallia, either from death or successfully getting you home, I thank you for the opportunity of proving to that hateful monster I was chained all those years wrong." That he wasn't a traitor, that he was strong, and he was not IT's puppet.

Caedus nodded, and seemed once more to relax. "I am in your debt," he said, gratefulness seeping into his voice. I wish you all the luck. Take care of yourself," he said, bowing his head just slightly. For all the mystery and secrecy, Caedus at least sounded earnest in that. "You are welcome back any time you like."
