Amelia hated the way Amphitrite was used as a pretty puppet by the leaders of her planet. She despised the way they dressed her to suit their needs instead of taking in to consideration how she wanted or felt about the attire they chose for her. Really, all the Chronos page wanted to do was to steal the senshi away and take her to a better place.

Which is what lead her to leading the senshi across the dancefloor until other bodies obstructed the view of her people and she could pull her out of the ballroom completely.

It was easier than the pale haired woman had expected, but then again she was a master of sneaking away unnoticed. All her years of sneaking in and out of places, going where she wasn't supposed to had paid off. "Amphitrite," the young woman breathed when she was certain that there were no prying ears. "I don't want to let you go back," she admitted, expression soft and concerned.

She laced the fingers of one hand with those of her companion's, leading them down the hall and towards the courtyard, further and further away from the dance hall. "You look so unhappy."

All Amelia wanted was for her friend to be happy.

Amphitrite herself was happy enough for the distance that she did not question it. She only realized just how far they were going when they leave the ballroom entirely... and as willingly as the senshi followed, without losing a single step, she visibly tensed. Not for lack of trust in her friend, or lack of want for the distance, but because she knew she was not supposed to. If the others began to question where she'd gotten off to...

What if they were angry? What if they didn't let Midgard come again, then?

The knight's words when there was no one else to hear left her wide-eyed. "You don't?" she asked in genuine bewildered surprise, and she continued to follow, almost doe-eyed, as Amelia took her further away. Both fear and a strange sense of euphoria grappled with each other deep within the recesses of her chest, sparing glances back over her shoulder as if she half expected to see one of them coming after the two of them.

When Amelia continued talking... unhappy. The senshi drew pause, nearly missing a step, trotting for a few seconds to make up for it. Unhappy.

How could she see it? - was Amphitrite not doing a good enough job? - was she failing in her role as a senshi?

She's not wrong. Maybe it said that she had been a poor choice for the mantle of Amphitrite. But - she didn't really know what triggered it, the sudden rush of embarrassment that came with failure or the knowledge that Amelia was the first person to ever actually care or question whether she was happy or not when she was anything but -

Amphitrite could not utter a word. But her hold on Amelia's hand tightened, and the world shifted and blurred at once. The senshi shut her eyes tight against the burn, trying still to maintain a smile at least. It was about all she could do.

"No, I don't," Amelia reaffirmed, pulling them out into the courtyard. The crisp air felt nice to the long haired page and once she felt like they were safe she turned to face her companion.

Amphitrite began to cry and Amelia's face crumpled. "Amphi," she cooed, stepping into the woman's space with her free hand coming to rest upon her cheek. "Please don't cry." It just strengthened her resolve to not let her return with her envoy. Her friend deserved better.

"This isn't a reflection on you, in anyway," she said quietly, hoping that her voice was soothing. "I don't-- I don't think anyone else has noticed." And she was almost certain of that, because she saw the way they looked at her. They only saw the surface of the complex senshi and that made her unbelievably angry.

"You just-- I believe you deserve so much better," she admitted smiling soft and gentle. "Do you-- do you want to come back with me? To Midgard? I'll keep you safe. You don't have to be a wallflower if you don't want to."

The fact of the matter was, Amphitrite allowed a great deal many people into her personal space. But that was not out of affection nor wanted exactly, but done out of obligation, 'hospitality'. Amelia was different. Her presence was wanted, her hand was welcome, and somehow that made it that much harder not to cry. Even then she felt a few drops of liquid heat seep down her cheeks, and the senshi gave a distressed sigh, trying to both preserve her smile and squeeze her lids shut even tighter to try and prevent more.

"I'm going to ruin my make-up." It sounded shallow, especially given the flutter of her voice. But it was another facet of her training, and the knowledge that her envoy would be displeased if they saw her a mess later.

In spite of that, she bit down hard on her lower lip, quietly shocked that her friend knew so well how she was feeling, that Amelia cared deeply enough to regard it. "Do you really think so?" and there was something childishly hopeful in her voice then; she needed Amelia to be right. No one else should know.

Back to Midgard. Her eyes snapped open then, and for all her reverse, her eyes were wide, bright with tears, and fearful above all else. "I can't, " and her voice had fallen to a whisper then, Amphitrite slowly shaking her head. "I-I'd be letting my - my people down, and - " Her voice was cracking terribly, then, "They'd find me. Then they'd never let you come back. I wouldn't see you anymore."

"You know you don't have to pretend in front of me," the young woman whispered, the pad of her thumb swiping carefully across her cheek and beneath Amphitrite's eye to collect a tear and keep from harming her make up. "When we are alone, I don't-- be whomever you want to be Amphi." Her voice was quiet but clear. Amelia wasn't going to tell the senshi what she wanted, because it wasn't about her it was about Amphitrite.

"They don't pay attention to a thing about you except how you look." There was a bitterness to her voice that hadn't been there before. If the page was honest, she hated the people of Amphitrite, if only because of what they did to her friend.

Her friends were terribly important to her, especially this one.

"You think they could keep me from you?" She chuckled softly, a smirk spreading across her mouth. "I could never resist a place I wasn't supposed to be." A perhaps poor but well-meant attempt at making light of the situation. "You could runaway with me," she offered softly even if the idea of leaving behind her wonder and her princess made her heart constrict. She was willing to run if the woman across from her was. "I know a pirate, he could steal you away for me."

The smile did not falter, did not fade. But there was a distinct sadness to it that had not been there a moment before, a deliberate ease of a mask. Life would have been much easier had that been her true face. "I don't know who I want to be, " she whispered in response, and had perhaps never been so honest than she was in that moment. She had been held to the ideal of Amphitrite for so long, accepted it so readily, that even if she pined for something more, she couldn't even truly fathom what it was. Just not this. I am so weary of being this.

The bitterness made her flinch, slightly, and she did not bother to deny it. It was not as though it were any great secret. Most people were just too busy with their own affairs, or had close enough ties with Amphitrite to enjoy the benefits that came with their alliance, including the senshi's time and affection. It was simply how her home world had always worked.

A tiny spark of something lit in the senshi's eyes, something that might have been desire, or even hope. "We couldn't, really, " she breathed out, looking down with a soft laugh, lifting a hand so her fingers brushed lightly across Midgard's knuckles. "We couldn't just... leave and not come back..."

There was a pause, long and dragging.

Then, Amphitrite looked up again. "Could we?"

"That's okay, we can figure it out - together." Amelia was confident that she could help Amphitrite find herself if she wanted. She brushed the woman's cheek with the pad of her thumb before letting her hand fall down to her side. Purple eyes searched that sad, tired face, and pale pink lips quirked up in a soft smile.

"But we could," she tried to counter watching the desire and conflict pass behind Amphitrite's eyes. "We could, I know a guy. I could get us a ship." Whether or not she asked was a different story. "All of space, Amphi, I could take you to see all of it." The unspoken without obligations to anyone else hanging heavy in the air.

Her free hand gathered up the hand brushing against her knuckles and she slid her fingers between the senshi's. "Let's runaway," Amelia dared to breathe, dared to look at her hopefully. "Let's start running and never look back."

The page knew that Midgard, and the Surrounding, would be a safe place for them to return to at any time and she loved her fellow knights, her princess, but she couldn't stand there and let Amphitrite just be a pretty doll that got passed to the people that asked just right or offered the most currency to play with her.

Her senshi deserved so much more. "Runaway with me, please."

I could get us a ship.

I could take you to see it all.

Runaway with me, please.

Amphitrite's face slowly drifted through a range of expressions, from hope to guilt to fear and then back to hope again, nerves rampant in the way she fidgeted, her facade and resolve cracking more rapidly than they should have under the gentle coaxing of her friend. She glanced once behind her shoulder as if she half-expected there to be someone looming behind her, judging her, waiting to snatch her back up again into their fold.

She did not want to abandon her planet. She did not want to betray her people. She did not, no, but she was not happy there, had never known was it was like to be truly free and happy and to live for herself, and so much had happened, so much she'd dare not even say --

"Okay."

She whispered it in a voice that didn't entirely sound like her own.

"Okay. I ... P... please. Please."

Amelia's pale purple eyes watched every flicker of emotion that passed across her companion's face, her stomach twisting and churning with anxiety and anticipation. She hadn't realized it until she waited with a baited breath for Amphritrite's answer how badly she wanted the other woman to say yes.

Okay. I ... P... please. Please.

Tension seeped out of the page and she pulled her hands free so she could engulf the senshi in a tight hug, buried her face against the crook of her neck with her long pale green locks falling across both their shoulders."Okay," she breathed, pulling back and gathering up the woman's face in her hands gently.

Amelia leaned forward and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, smiling softly when she pulled back. "Okay, let's take off running and never look back." She winked playfully, scooping up one of the hands she'd dropped and twined their fingers together.

"We should - we should go snag ourselves a ship, split before they notice you've been gone a while." She looked around the courtyard, trying to place their location relative to the ships. She knew that Crims had brought more than one ship, she'd take the other-- she'd explain everything later to the knight. Right now, nothing was more important than them running away.

The senshi gave a small sound that might have either been surprise or relief at the sudden warm embrace, fueled by warmth and affection rather than every other thing people usually reached to her for. It took Amphitrite a moment to respond; it was just still so different, so new to her, that her first thought was what the appropriate response would be. She had to remind herself that there was none, no single right answer, and no wrong answer either. - even thinking that, even knowing that - by the time she willed her body to follow her mind, the time for embracing had ended.

She at least smiled when Amelia kissed her forehead, cupping her cheeks gently in her hands - it was a true, warm smile, as laced with nerves as it was. Her fingers squeezed tightly as the knight took her hand, her heart pounding entirely too fast.

"A ship, " and she breathed it out excitedly, in spite of her own nerves, her eyes darting still nervously about, because it was inevitable that they'd come trying to find her. She took a step or two, and although she did not say it, all Amphitrite could think was how good it was feel to take her utterly ridiculous shoes off. "W-which way?"

Amelia was impulsive, but she was also respectful and she tried, very hard, to reign in her wants when it came to Amphitrite because the lovely senshi had spent a lifetime catering to the wants of others. But the warm smile that spread across her face, something so terribly genuine it made the page's heart constrict, let her know that her actions were welcome.

Relief poured through her.

Having oriented herself, Amelia began walking towards the docks, pulling Amphi being her gently. "The ship, it's got a blue hull, it'll be next to one with sunset colored sails," she offered as they hurried towards the destination.

"I swear to you Amphitrite," she said, soft but clearly, "that I will never let anything happen to you and that as long as you are in my company, you won't have to do anything you don't want to.

Blue, next to the one with the sunset colored sails.

It could have been black, next to the fires of hell, and it probably still would've been every bit as tantalizing to her. There was at some point a misstep, with Amphitrite stumbling over the too-long part of her dress, and she made a displeased sound, hurrying to keep pace.

The promise seeped through her skin and warmed her much like sunlight - a kind of warmth her planet lacked, in many a sense. Her hold on Amelia's hand tightened.

"I don't want to be apart from you." She was looking down; it was one of the most honest things she'd probably ever come out and said, bar accepting Amelia's offer to run in the first place. "That's - what I don't want. Is... is that okay?"

Her companion faltered and Amelia spun, hurrying to catch her. She blew up at her bangs to get them out of her eyes, purple gliding across her senshi's form, frowning at the too long dress. In a quick moment of decisiveness, the chronos knight swept Amphitrite into her arms - an arm beneath her knees and the other strung securely across her back.

Carrying her would be easier than letting her run in that ridiculous outfit, at least until they found her something better. Something she picked for herself. That's all Midgard wanted - to give her senshi choices.

I don't want to be apart from you.

The confession made the knight stumble, though she caught her balance and pulled Amphi tighter against her chest. Her heart stuttered and her cheeks flushed, but she was grateful for the darkness that hid it. "Of course it's okay." A beat and then, a confession of her own. "I don't want to be apart from you either."

Amphitrite gasped as she was swept off her feet - in the literal sense - but did not protest in the slightest. She carefully weighed her options for a few seconds before sliding tentative hands around Amelia's neck to steady herself, flashing her a grateful look. Everything about her was too long, too flowing, too inconvenient - a liability, really. Just another thing to owe Amelia for.

A second gasp, more startled this time, slipped past her as the knight stumbled - she clutched at the fabric of Amelia's ball attire and fixed her with eyes wide with concern that she'd somehow hurt herself. But then she spoke, and the senshi smiled brightly again, nestling more comfortably in her friend's arms. "I'm glad."

Then, a question bubbled up in her - and it took some effort, some true determination, to push through and ask in a distinctly soft voice - "Where will we go first...?"

The pale haired woman smiled brightly in return because, how could she not? Seeing her companion smile bright and genuinely left a fluttering of butterflies in her stomach - a feeling she was unfamiliar with, didn't know how to handle or take it - and Amelia smiled brightly in return.

"Anywhere you'd like," she breathed quietly as the ships came into her line of sight. "All of space Amphitrite, where do you want to start?" She'd take her to see the entire universe if she asked.

It didn't matter that she'd hardly ventured from the surrounding, that her trips had been coordinated and planned. They had all the time in the world, all of the universe to explore.

It was then and there, as she approached the ship and the confused crew of Crims' who easily let her aboard, that she decided that she didn't mind running for the rest of her life if it meant she could stay with Amphitrite.

Once they were on the ship, Amelia set the senshi down gently, holding her close with her hand on her waist. "Anywhere you want," she murmured.
