It took Saraf a bit of time to catch up with the pack of janarim again, having found himself busy with several days worth of work alongside his unit. They'd found some of the bandits that they were looking for, those that were causing trouble around Sulburi, and saw about chasing them down. There was a small skirmish with them, but the capture seemed to be rather... easy. Too easy in fact, making them wonder if they were even the same monsters as those that had been attacking caravans. It was questionable, surely if they were as dangerous as the rumors said they wouldn't be taken out so easily, right? Even so the bandits that they'd caught were still bandits, and as such they were sent back to Sulburi in chains.

Once they'd been dealt with everyone was given a couple of days leave. A lot of the group went back to Sulburi as well, seeking out food, drink, and bed company but Saraf had zero interest in that. Instead he'd opted to go after the janarim again. He was determined to break up the pack and send them on their way deeper into the deserts of Oba where they wouldn't attack people any more. All he had to do was taken out the pack leader and the rest should scatter for a while. That was the plan at least.

From where he was sitting he could see the pack sleeping down below. They were likely trying to sleep through the hottest hours of the day which turned out to be a good thing for Saraf because it meant that he could strike first. It wasn't something that he was looking forward to, fighting in the heat, but neither were they. Drawing his sword he started forward, moving at a very slow pace, looking at the manner in which they were sleeping. There were various groups, each of them in a different ranking in the pack he'd bet. Squatting down he tightened his hand on the handle of his sword, deciding that his first strike would be against the trio that was laying at the edge of the pack. They were the young ones that he'd already chased off once already, meaning that they were probably going to be that much easier to scare off the second time around.

Once he had his plan of attack in mind he charged forward, lifting his sword on high, and gave a great roar as he went. As he did so the trio of janarim closest to him lunged to their feet, milling about in circles in shock, before they ran in all directions. One of their number went running toward the rest of the pack members, its howls waking up the group up from their slumber. One of the others just sort of ran off in a random direction, seemingly deciding that it didn't want to deal with Saraf. The young janarim had gotten picked on by the Oban once already and didn't want to deal with it again.

Saraf turned his head, watching it race off, before his attention went to the final member of the trio. He starred at it for a moment before he went charging forward, taking a swing at it with the flat of his sword, smacking it in the back side, causing it to give a snarl and snap at him. A bit of a smile appeared on Saraf's face as he took a couple steps back, dodging the inexperienced attacks of the young janarim, before he glanced toward the rest of the pack. They were starting to rouse and gather, the lot of them looking toward Saraf, their eyes on him, teeth barred, looking more then a little hostile. Not good, but he wouldn't back down against such a group. They needed to be dealt with and he would be the one to do so.

His sword swung against smacking the flats of it against one side of the janarim, then the other, sending it running away from him as well. It allowed him a clear line of sight toward the rest of the pack, to see what they were doing as well as what they were planning to do next. Were they going to attack or were they going to retreat as they had last time? Snarling and acting intimidating was one thing but a straight out attack was another. The leader of the pack had to consider if it was worth risking members of the pack to attack Saraf. Time to see what the pale beast decided.

As Saraf awaited the first move from the pack leader and the rest of his pack one of the young janarim that he'd thought that he chased off came charging toward him from the side. It was an attack that he was able to dodge, though barely, before he turned to watch it, "Back again, are you little janarim pup? You shouldn't have come back, pup. You should have just kept running." He said, taking a swing at the janarim, not hitting it, but fending it off. He saw no reason to attack or kill the pup, not if he was able to drive it off.

"Go on, get lost, pup! I don't want to fight you or kill you, I just need the lot of you to get away from Sulburi. You're a hassle to the people there and I can't have that." He said, drawing back his weapon again, this time flipping it around so that he could smack the janarim on the nose with the butt end of it, causing it to back off, it's head shaking rapidly from the dull pain, "Go!" He ordered it again, getting a snarl of response before the beast started to back off again. It seemed as though it was torn, wanting to stand up to Saraf, but not wanting to get itself hit again.

After a stand off that made it feel as though time momentarily stood still before the janarim turned and fled a second time. It didn't take long before it was out of sight and Saraf was turning back to the rest of the pack once more.

The pack of janarim, minus three younger ones that he'd chased off earlier, had started to mill about as their pack leader set to snarling at him. It seemed as though they were planning on making a stand against the intruding earthling, something that had Saraf looking around for a moment to get a good feel for the area around him. There were some rock piles here and there that he could use, as well as the small spring of water and some trees that grew around it, that the janarim were near to. Having an oasis to themselves seemed to be something that they weren't going to give up so easily, meaning that it made them more likely to make a stand against him. No matter, if he was able to chase them off like he wanted to then he'd have learned about the location of a new oasis. It was a small one, nothing that would cause a town to pop up around it, but still knowing the location of even the smallest location of water in the middle of Oba was important to those traveling through the desert. It was valuable information.

It was something that he'd be sure to share with his unit once they returned from their leave or once he'd gotten rid of the janarim, whichever came first he supposed. As the first of the janarim came out at him, snarling as he did so. Lifting his sword Saraf angled it just right, alllowing it to flash and reflect, blinding the beast temporarily, tripping the creature up. Lunging forward Saraf made a low, sweeping motion, knocking the legs of the janarim out from under it. The beast crashed into the sand while Saraf's arch followed through, ending with him back on his feet once more, his blade resting on his shoulder, "Alright, who's next then?" He murmured, his shining eyes turning toward the creatures standing there before him. There were still a rather large number of them to deal with, wasn't there? No matter, he'd dealt with a fair number of them already and he just had to keep going as he was if he wanted to chase off the rest of them.

Making a couple flicks of his sword he turned to look toward the 'boss' janarim, watching the creature as he pace fro side to side, tail lashing, before it gave a roaring sound. Said sound sent another pair of janarim charging forward toward Saraf, as though being ordered forward by their leader. These two, unlike those that had come before them, seemed bigger, stronger, and likely older as well. It meant that they were going to be better at fighting then any that he'd fought so far. He wouldn't allow such a thing to chase him off though, not when he wanted nothing more then to deal with them as was needed. He wondered if killing them of would be easier but he somehow felt that such a thing would be a waste, especially given that he was friends with Nuri. He was certain that as a beast master that his friend would look down upon him for slaughtering the creatures in a heartless manner.

Moving forward in a zig-zagging pattern Saraf lifted his sword up, again reflecting the sun's light toward the janarim though he was only able to blind one of the two. That one stumbled to a halt, head shaking, while the other one continued its charge. Saraf's blade flashed forward toward the beast in a swift manner, smacking against its tough hide in rapid strikes. The rain of blows drew a loud howl from the beast before one seemed to catch it just right in the side of the head, stunning the beast. This allowed him to hit it a few more times with the flat of his blade, driving it off though it seemed that it was likely only temporary given the manner in which it only ran off a short distance. So even though the attack had been alright it wasn't one that Saraf would exactly count as a victory, especially given that the one he'd blinded was starting to recover as well. Both of them were going to come back so that meant that he would need to ready himself for their attacks.

What about the rest though? Given that he had a moment to breath his eyes went to the rest of the pack and more importantly to the pale beast that was their leader. He was still standing back but given the way the beast's pacing had increased it was likely he was going to come charging in soon as well, huh? This thought in mind Saraf lifted his sword in preparation for what came next.

One of the two beasts, the one that had recovered the quickest, came charging toward Saraf with it's maw open, growling as it went. It seemed as though his continued battles with the creatures was really annoying them. No matter, he meant to deal with them, and see them removed from the area. He could tell from the manner in which some of the fringe members of the pack were acting that the were nearing their breaking point. Soon enough they were going to flee from here, weren't they? The idea that there were fractures showing was a good sign, they were going to scatter, and if the people of Sulburi were lucky they wouldn't regroup or return. If they just decided to stay deeper in the desert he was fine with that, it meant they would no longer be a threat and his job was done.

Dodging to one side Saraf allowed the janarim to race by him, smacking it in the backside with the flat of his blade. The beat gave a snarl, whirling around, charging again, only to have the same thing happen again. Several more times over the process was repeated, until the big janarim finally gave up, huffing under its breath before rushing away from him. The speed at which it was running, as well as the direction, said that it likely wasn't going to circle back this time. One more beast down, many more to go Saraf thought to himself, turning his attention back to the others, counting them out. The leader included there were still five of them left that hadn't retreated yet, meaning that he should be able to have this all wrapped up soon.

Looking across the 'battle field' of sorts Saraf found himself starring down the final five janarim that were out there, waiting for him. It was a large group of them, but he'd dealt with as many already. He just worried that they were going to get wise to his methods and charge him all at once. He'd have a lot harder of a time dealing with the lot of them if they were to do that, facing dangerous and potentially fatal wounds. The last thing that he wanted was to have so terrible and inglorious a death as being eaten by wild beasts. No, he was going to die of old age only after he'd become a general and fought and many, many battles, becoming a glorious hero. As though he'd let some random beasts beat him he thought to himself as he swished his sword from side to side, "Come on then, I don't have all day!" He called out to the janarim, finding the stand off to be one that he felt was a grand waste of his time.

Within the pack of janarim one of them, one with a green tipped tail, gave a howl before it came charging at him. It seemed as though the beast was eager to take him up on his challenge, not wanting to just stand back. It was obvious that it wasn't something he was ordered to do by the pack leader, instead it was just breaking away from the pack, and going of its own accord. A good sign, it meant that the pack was starting to break apart, a good sign since it meant that he was getting exactly what he wanted.

Saraf went low again, tripping up the charging janarim, his sword then smacking it in the backside, before he whirled around the face it again. IT charged, charged again, and then again, seeming to be more determined then the last one that he'd battled it out with. It's tail lashed out, smacking into his blade hard enough that it made his whole body shake, his arms going for a moment numb, "Ow... damn that smarts." He said between gritted teeth, lifting a leg to kick out at the janarim, forcing it back best he could as he tried to get the feeling back into his arms. There was nothing in Saraf's mind that was worse then impact hits due to the manner in which it caused your arms to lose feeling and it became difficult to fight. Not something that one wanted to have happen when in the middle of such a battle.

Taking a few steps back he forced his arms to move despite the feeling in them, his sword lashing out at the janarim when it continued to press its forward attack. This time around though he was able to land what he would admit was a rather lucky shot, the sort that was blessed by both On'os and Jonal, as his weapon connected with the janarim's temple. The creature stood there for a long moment, starring at Saraf, before it flopped over on its side, unconscious. Saraf lifted a foot, pushing against the creature's side, as though to make sure that it was still alive, before he gave a humming sound. Well, that had been quite unexpected but it was definitely a blessing from the Gods. Not something that he was going to turn his nose up at. Not when it took out one more of the janarim, leaving him now with only four of them to deal with.

Turning his attention back to those four he saw that two more them were already charging forward, likely thinking that Saraf had killed the one that was laying still. It had enraged the beasts, even the leader and what Saraf assumed was his mate, looked quite pissed at the moment. Good, anger would make them stupid he thought to himself as he started forward, his blades lashing out toward the two that were charging, leaving nicks here and there in ther thick hides. It wasn't enough to hurt them, not even enough to make them bleed, but it did drive them back a little bit. If he had to guess by looking at their hides and their size that they were a bit on the younger side. It made him wonder if the rest of the pack had been the children of the pack leader and his mate? Perhaps he had a pair of mates to cover all of the various ages of the young, as well as how many he had to fight off thus far.

Saraf continued to slash his sword forward, slashing forward to smack against them and nick them when they got to close. As the creatures charged Saraf did the same, stepping forward, giving a snarl of his own, something that caused them to take a couple steps back. Yes, they were young he thought to himself, it was the only explanation for why they were so easily cowed by him lunging at them while growling. It probably wasn't something that they were expecting or used to.

Deciding that he was going to press his advantage he continued forward, sword swinging from side to side, driving the creature back. The pair of beasts snarled at him, teeth barred, but the manner in which they seemed to be struggling to even look at him showed that they were becoming more and more submissive toward him. One of the pair sudden tripped back over it's fallen brethren, causing it to scramble, giving a howl as it it ran away from the entire situation, followed by the second one who seemed to just be following the lead of the first. Two more down, two to go he thought to himself as he turned his attention toward the pack master and his mate, his eyes narrowing, "Alright, time to finish this." He said as he lifted his sword to one side and went charging forward toward the pair of creatures.

The ground between them was covered quickly though by the time he got to them the mate of the pack leader was already fleeing. It seemed as though she didn't want to stick around and face off against the one that had chased off all of her young. It wasn't something that he thought to much on as his weapon smashed against the thick hide of the pale beast that was his final adversary. The sounds of Saraf's hard breathing, the snarls of the pale janarim, and the sound of his sword against the janarim's hide sounded as the two of them fought it out. It was the most dangerous of the battles as, unlike the rest of them, this one wasn't a weakling. It was the leader of the pack for a reason, something that Saraf learned quickly, as he continued the fight. In fact Saraf wasn't even sure how long he was locked in the battle against the janarim before it finally fell back, snarling, its mouth frothing from exertion.

Saraf lifted his weapon up, holding it out in front of himself, watching as the pale leader backed away from him. He waited, uncertain if the creature was going to attack again or if it was going to flee along with the rest of the beasts that he'd gotten rid of so far. Even as the creature continued its retreat he still didn't move, keeping his weapon at the ready, waiting it out. It was only after he was gone for a while that he finally shifted his weapon, resting it on his shoulder, "Phew..." Seemed as though it was over he thought to himself before he turned slowly to look toward the unconscious janarim. Time to deal with that he thought to himself, digging in his pack for a rope.

Saraf walked over to where the janarim was laying, giving it a once over, nudging at it with his foot. It seemed as though the creature was still unconscious, which was a good thing. It meant that he was going to be able to take care of the creature while it was still easy to deal with he thought to himself as he knelt down, using the rope to tie the janarim's mouth shut. It would take care of some of the danger, the rest would be dealt with through the beast being brought back to his unit, to meet with the beast tamer among them. He'd see to it that the janarim with the green tipped tail was made into a good mount for him, something that would allow him to be even more useful as a member of the army in service to Oba.

Once the ties were done he then used the ropes to hobble the janarim's back legs, something that wouldn't allow the beast to run away very easily. He wouldn't let it get away before he was able to hand it over for training, this beast was his prize for the battle that he'd gone through. Well, the beast and the oasis that he'd found that would serve his people. It was a really good battle he thought to himself as he settled down in the shade, far enough from the janarim that it couldn't try to attack him the moment it came to. Once settled in, his blade resting on his lap in case he might need it, Saraf waited for the beast to wake up.
