The water swayed in the moonlight, the whitecaps showing threateningly as he surfaced. Queen Anne's Revenge had always been a fan of storms and usually surfaced to watch the spectacle from above the calm depths below.
It amazed him how underneath the water the whole world seemed drastically different. Everything was calm there no matter how bad the storm rages above them. Perfect, deep calm.
Lightning flashed, echoed in his eyes as he watched it lance across the sky. There was not a ship in site, nor any other aquatic creatures near the surface. It was basically a private show, all for him.

Sometimes when there was a violent storm, ships would break apart and debris would be strung from what seemed one part of the ocean to the other. And if those ships has traders on them, sometimes gold coins would float down like slow falling stars until he caught them. He had a whole jar full of them, his jar of shinies hidden where no one else could find it.
Some of the finer pieces of jewelry he'd taken to wearing regularly like the earrings that pierced his ear. The gold coils with precious stones wrapped up his front legs in intricate and delicate fashion. They were his treasures, reminders of storms he'd seen and survived. Even the feathery wrap that he wove around him was salvaged from a wreck. It had matched his colors spectacularly and he had worn it since the moment he found it. He didn't know how it didn't retain water or weigh him down too much, but it just didn't seem to.
