Fresh fallen snow blanketed the forest, the stark whiteness seeming to illuminate the night, even with clouds in the sky. The stiff chill in the air seemed insignificant, and some may even say pleasant, with the complete lack of wind to accompany it. Nothing seemed to be lurking in the silent woods; there were no chirping birds, no chattering squirrels, and no Soquili lurking in the night... Well, perhaps there could have been one or two.
Seemingly bleached irises scanned the snow covered ground, searching for tracks, but none were to be found. Puffs of steam left the silent mare's impressive form as she continued to survey her surroundings. With little effort and a surprising amount of agility, the dark figure bolted through the trees, the only sound coming from the crunching snow beneath her cloven hooves.

Ulviye was unsure of how long she had been travelling. As a foal, she had been adopted by a sweet cerynei stallion, who told her a story of a fierce kalona that had unleashed his fury on her mother and siblings, leaving her mortally wounded and the foals bloodied beyond recognition. Ul had yet to emerge from her basket, and was tucked away in the bushes during the attack.
Growing up, the halfbreed was taught to be terrified of creatures in the night, and she would hide away with her father, both of them afraid of what may be lurking. It wasn't until she'd reached adolescence that she realized... She was one of those creatures. Over the years, the mare had grown to embrace her blood, teaching herself to hunt and track. Now, she wished to find the stallion responsible for her life...

Ulviye had heard stories of the brutish stallion. They claimed he was fierce and sturdy, that his voice made the sound of hooves grinding gravel, and that he always smelled of the blood of his victims. She thought they must be exaggerating, for who would be so cruel as to treat everyone so poorly? Then she learned what really happened to her mother and siblings. Her stomach churned at the thought, her blood boiled. He would pay.
Her hooves moved agilely forward through the snow, rocks and holes beneath it being no issue. Her cerynei blood made her dainty for a draft, but she moved as any other would; through the forest with ease and grace. Her wings were tucked tightly to her side as she hopped through trees, her large ears picking up any outside noises they may catch. Every now and then she would stop, her ears would swivel, and she'd smell the air. Crisp, clean, and Soquili-free. Just how she liked it.

Rolling her eyes at her constant delays, Ulviye began talking to herself. "You fool, you're not a victim. You're not going to be a victim. Pick up the pace!" With this, she rushed forward, her cerynei instincts urging her to stop and check her surroundings. She grumbled, refusing to give in to her lesser needs. The hybrid's tail stretched far behind her, aiding in her balance but limiting how tightly she could turn. It caught on a branch and she winced, stopping immediately to check for damage. 'Should've listened to your instincts,' taunted a voice that was not her own. She snarled, dipping her bleeding tail in the snow to soothe it. 'Now you're going to leave a blood trail for anyone to follow. Good job, cerynei.'

Still annoyed with herself, Ulviye licked at her bleeding appendage, refusing to let it get the best of her. While the saliva and warmth stung at the wound, the taste of blood made her hungry and long for a kill. She rolled her eyes. "No time for that," she thought. "We've got to get to him. We've got to make him pay." Her nostrils flared as she let her tail fall from her mouth, and she started back up again. Though it was still dripping, her pace caused the blood drops to be few and far between, and it ached all the while. She continued through the pain, her heartbeat one with the throbbing, it travelling all the way up to her ears. The sun was getting ready to rise and she was not even remotely ready to stop. There wasn't enough time to be wasting it on trivial things like shelter. Perhaps she would wait until she was out of energy instead.

Ulviye traveled well into the dawn before choosing to settle down for the day. The short winter daylight hours made sleeping the day away quite feasible, and the mare preferred it as such. It was much easier to go unnoticed in the darkness of night, especially for an odd looking mare as herself. She found a patch of evergreens and made her way beneath one, the dead branches beneath scratching at her pelt. Wincing, she pushed through to the tree's massive trunk, settling down into the day. The frozen ground was littered with pointy dried needles, which were less than comfortable, but it was better than being in the wind and snow.

As the sun began to set, Ulviye rustled beneath her fur tree. Her groggy eyes opened and she shivered uncomfortably as she awoke. She immediately checked on her tail, which was stiff and swollen. However, she was relieved to see that the blood had clotted adequately to make a tough scab at her wound. The lack of sensation at the site was a little alarming, but she was thankful to have one less problem to deal with. Carefully, she peered out from her make-shift shelter, checking for others before emerging and beginning her journey once more. The mare stretched her ligaments, which were stiff and achy from sleeping in the cold, but they were no worse for wear than they had been before her nap.

Ulviye yawned a little as she stretched. She was pleasantly surprised by the lack of bitter winds that had accompanied her travels the night before. The sun had not yet completely set, but the moon was already high in the clear blue sky. She smiled, glad that her voyage would at least be adequately lit. Her ears twitched as she checked for any goings-on around her, not wishing to be followed. Her paranoia made no sense, however, as nobody would have dared to or cared to follow her from her herd, let alone knowing what her intended journey was. Perhaps she had amped herself up so much that someone must be interested in what she was doing. Alas, she found herself alone in the wilderness, on a journey meant to be hers and hers alone.
