One by one, Ash had taken to visiting the captives. Part of it was curiosity, to see who they had gotten, and part was a desire to find out more about the Negaverse. Sadly, they were reluctant to talk to her... and she didn't really inspire fear as a small, lovely silver cat. Oh well.

The next cell she chose at random, trotting jauntily down the hall past the others, both occupied and empty. Tail high, she absently counted them until she reached the seventh. Rounding the corner, she slipped between the bars and then pulled up short to stare at the unfortunately occupant.

Sea foam hair decorated with seashells. Black bodice and pale cream skirt. Dread squeezed Ash's heart tight and she couldn't stifle her soft, questioning noise...

"Amphitrite? Darling... Goodness, I didn't know you were here!" Finally pushed into motion, she rushed towards the senshi and only slowed short of touching her. Ears pressed back against her head, she devoured the sight of the girl with avid eyes, struggling to contain her need to fawn all over her. Their last meeting had not gone well... she still remembered being struck, and while she didn't blame Amphitrite for it, Ash was not looking forward to repeating it.

"Ah, no... you aren't supposed to be here... I wouldn't have let them take you if I'd known!" She mewed. "Are you okay, Darling? Are you hurt?"

Amphitrite did not look well. It was not a matter of physical harm. She had scratches, bruises, things like that... but all things considered, it was a far cry from the broken bones, blood, and violation that she had experienced the last time.

It was her mind that was bearing the weight of her strain this time and taking a visible toll on the rest of her. Although her gloves obscured whatever damage she'd done to herself in the past several days, even with the raw silk the skin around her ankles was raw and bruised. Her skin looked washed out, as though she were sick, and maybe in a way she was - her skin was still clammy and cool with days worth of sweating, straining on that fold-out bed she'd been tied to. Her hair was greasy by now, clinging all about her face flatly. Her lips were dry and cracked, stubbornly refusing offerings of food and water when she could afford to.

She felt weak - but in a way that made her feel slightly stronger in the only way she could here, desperate to cling to at least some semblance of free will, not to be rendered completely helpless again. But that did nothing for her near-constant state of panic, and her head pounded mercilessly between the lack of water and her own ever increasing claustrophobia.

The corrupt was breathing especially hard when the cat slipped into the room - although she had deep, dark circles under her eyes, Amphitrite dozed here and there whether she wanted to or not, and then the dreams came. She had bitten her lower lip hard enough to draw blood this time, unwilling to shout or scream, and the traces of tears that pricked at her eyes were shameful enough. It was something that couldn't be helped, but - but even so -

I told myself not again. No more crying. No more -

The sound of a soft, questioning sound made her glance sharply to a side, then frustrated her even more since she'd been trying so hard to keep her gaze impassive and trailed up at the ceiling whenever she could. Then she heard that voice, and her eyes trailed further down, and -

Ash. She wasn't sure what she felt upon seeing her. A wave of embittered rage washed over her, almost like nausea, her hands curling into light fists. "Oh. It's you, " she remarked dryly, turning her face away again. "Sure you didn't." Sarcasm hung heavily in her voice. "Fine, I'm just fine. Just couldn't get enough of being tied down, so thought I'd give it another go. So nostalgic."

Ash paced back and forth, making little distressed noises as she made sure there was nothing terribly wrong with Amphitrite. She seemed roughed up, but not too badly... though any injury was too much for her taste.

This was not supposed to have happened. Amphi was not supposed to be one of the captives, not after being one last year. Had Thraen known it was her when she was brought it? Surely he would have said something to her... unless he thought she couldn't be trusted not to do something foolish about it. Which, okay maybe that was founded, because all she wanted to do right now was whisk the young woman out of the prison and away to safety...

Suddenly there was a burst of sparkles and what had once been a cat was now a small woman, grey ears perked up from her blue hair. Frowning, she pounced on the senshi's ankles and tore at the bindings, untangling the silk to free her limbs.

"This is just ridiculous..." She grumbled under her breath as she did it, spinning from ankles to hands to untie those as well. It never really occurred that there could be a reason why Amphitrite was restrained... all she could think was that it was simply an unacceptable state for one of her own, even one that had fallen to chaos.

"Take it easy sitting up..." Ash said as she rocked back on her heels, her hands spread in an nonthreatening gesture. "You aren't going to be able to teleport and you won't be freeing yourself from those bars, so I suggest not trying... you'll just hurt yourself. Are you thirsty? I can get you some water..."

Grey ears pressed back flat into her hair and the catgirl tucked her tail between her legs, her green eyes wide and begging. All she wanted was her own safe... the could hardly stand seeing one of them like this.

Although she didn't intend to look, bursts of sparkles tended to attract attention, and Amphitrite's eyes fell squarely upon the cat as she shifted to her human form. She remembered it from the last time, Ash wiggling her toes and making a plethora of soft sounds much like the ones she was making just then, as though worried, as though --

The bonds coming undone surprised her. Had she learned nothing from the last encounter? Was her sense of self-preservation so low? There was no Methone there to save her this time, and she doubted Ash was much capable of defending herself. She'd been so soft the last time.

The memory bought a sense of... not guilt, but distaste. She preferred to think of it like that.

There was a moment when the bonds were gone that Amphitrite considered whether or not just to attack and flee, but to where? - she could not teleport, and she had tried. Ash was right about that, and about the bars. Although her gaze remained suspicious, her jaw set in a firm, tight line, she made no aggressive move as she rose.

Apparently too quickly. Everything ached... probably more from being trapped in the same damned position for as long as she was than any punishment she had gone through. That was not the problem. The problem was it was not until she sat up that she realized how badly her frequent denial of water, of 'enemy pity', had gotten her. Her world swam, her head spun, and she all but doubled over, her forehead pressed against her hands as she, without realizing, uttered a groan.

She did not say 'please'. She would not say 'thank you'. But she did nod. Yes. Water.

But at least, Amphitrite rationed even then, sweeping her legs to a side, she could move. She had her mobility back. She was still trapped, but - in that way, it was the lightest she'd felt since she'd gotten there.

Intentional or not, there was a lot of trust placed in the corrupt that she set free. Ash didn't even move back from the bed as the last of the silk came free, her ears still back against her hair. It could have been bad, certainly... but despite what had happened in the past, there was still open in the wide, sad green eyes.

Ash settled back to sit on her knees, bare feet tucked up under her. Amphitrite moved stiffly and she knew it was because of how long she had been bound up, making her heart ache all over again. The Mauvian very nearly reached for her when she doubled up, her hands lifting, but she stopped short and retreated to her seat again. She was hopeful, but not stupid. This problem between them would not be solved by something so small.

At the nod, her lifted hands flourish and in them appeared a bottle of water, much like any convenience store supplied. She loosened the cap and offered it out slowly, holding it till it was taken.

"I don't know why you were taken or by whom, but... I'm going to get you out of here. You should never have been taken, we just... we wanted to give the Negaverse a harsh message." Her lips thinned as she pressed them together. "We won't stand for what happened last year, not any more, or ever again. That's what this was supposed to be... They can't take our people and not expect retaliation. I never meant for you to be caught up in it though."

Amphitrite's fingers were tentative, and rougher than Ash would have remembered then from when she'd been a senshi under her care - much about her had changed, even at a glance. She'd always been on the curvy side, true enough, but she was anything but made of nothing now. She was lean and polished, hard now where she'd once been soft. Young, though, Ash would know it - for all the purpose she carried herself with, she was still barely a woman. It hadn't even been two years ago that she'd been a giggling student fawning over a talking cat and the prospect of being a hero.

The things war did to people.

She knew she should pace herself with the water, and did not know when it would come again. That did not stop her from effortlessly draining half of it in one swig, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand as she lowered the bottle.

Her eyes hardened, lips pursed at Ash's little explanation of the situation, her fingers curling more tightly around her water bottle so the plastic began to yield in her grasp. She did not crush it. But she sorely wanted to, if not something else.

"Who else did you take?" she asked cooly. "Tell me Leucite at least - you can go right ahead and kill him for all I care."

Ash watched with avid attention as her former senshi took the water from her and drank greedily. Her own hands curled together in her lap, fingers worrying each other. Whatever Amphi had become, however she had changed... Ash still saw her as the first time they had met. That young, eager girl, that was who she remembered, who she saw.

Ears that had perked up melted back flat again at the harsh expression the senshi wore though, and she picked at her body suit.

"I don't know who that is, I'm afraid, so I can't say. I don't know who all we have... I was just in charge of the device that is keeping you from teleporting." She said as she forced her hands to still. Strange things, hands. She never used to feel like she needed them, but now that she had them? Strange thoughts, to have right now. "They'll all go free once our point is made. Everything will be fine."

There was so much she wanted to say... and she couldn't sort any of it out. She didn't know what should say or what she shouldn't. It was all very hard.

"I... I should get you something to eat." She said finally, scrambling to her feet. "I have to figure out how to get you out of here, but you'll need your strength so just... wait here, ok?"

The cat girl poofed again, raining sparkles as a cat appeared in her place as she bounced to the bars.

"You made the machine, " the corrupt remarked dryly with a sigh that read strongly of annoyance - if not something more venomous than that. "So you're the reason I can't get out." It was a fact, a solid truth. Of course she was. Why wouldn't she be?

Amphitrite turned her gaze from the cat and stared off at the far wall of the cell, her eyes half-lidded as she remarked maybe a little too softly, "Did you say the same thing last year? - everything will be fine." She licked her lips and commented little more than than, instead opting to finish the water in her hands.

There was a long, awkward pause, and Amphitrite didn't know whether it was because the cat expected her to say something, or if she herself just didn't know what to say. It didn't much matter because the cat was a cat again moments later, bounding off in search of food.

Honestly, she half-expected Ash would not return. Either way, in the meanwhile, she began to ease her legs further over the side of the bed, carefully standing and trying out her legs to see how bad off she was. For all the pain in her ankles from the bruising, all the ache from disuse... it still was not the same as last year. The only difficulty was she'd simply struggled much harder this time when eyes were not on her.

Ash paused as she reached the bars, one paw raised. The press of her ears back against her round little head was the only evidence of the pain Amphi's words caused her, because her voice when it came was cheerful.

"Let me get you that food, Darling. Once you've eaten, I'm going to shut off the machine for a little bit, so you can teleport away from here." She said with forced brightness. She squeezed through the bars and took off the down the hall, her normally jaunty tail held low behind her.

Things were going to be different this time, she promised herself. It was not going to be like last year. And maybe, someday, things would be better...
