Lasarra had always planned to make sure her daughters both knew all about where she had come from. They might be barely Alkidike, but they both had some characteristics and she felt it was important that the knew not just about their history as a Shifter, for that was all around them, but also about their history as an Alkidike.

Looking for the two girls she decided that she would just talk to Lasseyn this time. She rarely spent time with just one of them, normally it was both of them, so she thought it would be nice. "Lasseyn! Where are you? Should I send Izsha after you?" She teased. She would never send one of her companions after her girls, but it normally worked. When they were very young they were scared, and as they got older and realized that she would never do that it became a joke that they would laugh at, giving away their hiding spot.

She loved her parents, she really did, but they weren't always exciting. She preferred to be around her sister and the other children of the village, playing hide and or other childish games. So when she heard her mother calling to her Lasseyn rolled her eyes. The fact that she was calling just her and not her sister as well meant they were going to have "quality" time. Now Lasseyn loved her mother, but their idea of how time should be spent was vastly different, so she hid under her bed.

She heard her mother walking around the house and smiled. She knew that sooner or later she would have to give it up and come out, she didn't want to hide all day and get in trouble, but the longer she could say hidden the less boring time with her mother. When her mother threatened to send Izsha after her Lasseyn tried to hold back her laughter but couldn't. "That beast wouldn't harm a fly!" She called from under the bed, only sticking her head out from under the bed as she laughed. The jig was up, she had to go and spend some time with her mother.

She waited and was rewarded much more quickly then she thought she'd be. At hearing Lassyen's laugh she headed towards the girls room, seeing her daughters head poking out from under the bed. "I'll have you know that Izsha would harm a fly. She's a very dangerous companion. You just don't see it because she's also a very well trained companion and would never hurt anyone unless I told her to." She helped her daughter out from under the bed.

"I was thinking the two of us could go tree climbing together? We're running low on fruit, and you and your sister always have the best sense of where the good fruits are." Lasarra knew better then to tell her daughter that she wanted to educate her, but she also knew that he daughter knew this wasn't going to be just some trip to find food. They did need fruit though, so it was a win win in her book and hopefully at least half a win in her daughters book.

Lassyen stood with the help of her mother and as she talked put her hands on her hips. She knew what this was, this wasn't just a trip to gather food. "Really mom?" Who was she trying to fool. Still she did like finding fruit, since that meant that she got to make sure that her favorite fruit was the one that came home. Plus then she got to eat some on the way back. "You aren't fooling anyone, but I'll go with you."

She loved her mother so it wasn't so much of a hassle, plus her sister wasn't anywhere to be found and her friends were busy with their parents. Hanging out with her mother was better then sitting at home alone, or worse doing house chores. "Let's go. Who are we going to bring with us to carry to fruit?" Sometimes her parents made her carry it in a back pack, other times they brought Izsha or Achran with them to carry things, and she wasn't keen on carrying fruits if they had to get a lot.

Lasarra smiled from ear to ear. Her daughters were both so smart. She might have been able to fool them into doing tasks with her when she was younger but she couldn't do it anyone. They both could see right through her. Thankfully though Lasseyn was still willing to go along with her and didn't mind her attempt at trickery. "I'm not fooling you because you aren't a fool." She said with a laugh as she ruffled her daughters hair lightly.

As the two of them walked out of the house she shrugged. "Well I was thinking you and I could carry the fruit that we needed back. Give my companions a lazy day for a change and let them just hang out inside of the house." She knew that her daughter wouldn't like that idea but she personally thought they should be able to carry what they wanted to bring back themselves. "But if you really want I'm sure that Izsha would be more then willing to come with us."

Lasseyn walked out of the house by her mother's side, climbing down right after her when the went to the floor of their house. That was where all of her mother's current animals were, and it was one of her favorite places in their home. Although she was pretty sure she didn't want to be a beast tamer like her mother Lasseyn still enjoyed being around all the animals. She also liked watching her mother train them, but she normally did that in secret. Didn't want her mother seeing her and thinking she wanted to follow the same path.

"Yesss, Izsha!" She was Lasseyn's personal favorite. "I'll go get her backpack!" She said happily, heading towards the shed where all the animals things were kept before her mother could change her mind. Izsha meant that they would get more fruits and that the walk back home wouldn't be so heavy. As happy as she was Lasseyn had almost forgotten that this wasn't going to be just some trip to pick fruits.

"Make sure to get our backpacks as well! Don't want her to have to do all the work! And some treats to tell her thanks!" Lasarra called after her daughter as the girl disappeared into the shed. She walked through the pens and other cages that held her beasts. Although most of them were allowed to roam free and mingle with each other others were simply to dangerous for that and needed more work until they could be let to do as the please.

As usual she found Izsha at the front of the gate, outside of it and laying down. She seemed to like to watch as people walked by and was well trained enough to know not to go far from the house or harm anyone. "Hey girl, Lasseyn will be here any second now with your back pack. We're going to go into the forest to collect some fruits, I figured you wouldn't mind coming with us." She talked to Izsha, and all of her animals, as if they were human but that was because to her they were. Anyone with a brain could see that animals had brains of their own. They wouldn't be so easily trained if they didn't.

Lasseyn found the backpacks easily, grabbing one for her and her mother along with the one that was made specially for Izsha. She lingered for a second, not really so sure as to where her mother kept Izsha's treats, but she eventually found a jar on one of the shelves. Stuffing the treats into the backpack that she would be carrying Lasseyn made her way towards the front of the property, sure that her mother would already be there with Izsha.

She heard her mother before she saw her and smiled. She, like her mother, believed in talking to the animals. Although she had been called names by some of her friends for it she didn't mind. Her mother did it and it seemed to her that her mother's beasts were better trained then most. She walked slowly, letting her mother finish was she was saying before coming into view. "I have all the things, are the two of you ready?" She asked with a smile. So far this wasn't as bad as she thought it was going to be, though she was sure once they got into the forest her mother would make it less entertaining.

Although she heard her daughter coming Lasarra made no move to get up until Lasseyn spoke. As she stood so did Izsha, ready and proud at her side. Both of them were ready for the forest and the mini adventure they would get to have. "Not yet," Lasarra said as she took the backpacks from her daughter. She strapped one of them onto Izsha and slung the one meant for her over her back. "Okay, now we are ready to go."

With Izsha leading the way the three of them made their way into the forest, no one direction in mind. Lasarra knew that the best fruits were high in the trees, but they would have to go further into the forest before they found any. It would take the perfect amount of time needed for the talk she wanted to have with her daughter. "So Lasseyn... What do you remember of what I've told you about Aisha?"

Lasseyn figured that they would end up talking about something serious, but she really thought her mother would give her a little more time to think about her own thoughts before asking a question like that. It wasn't that Lasseyn didn't like to know of her mother's history, it was just she felt so detached from it. She knew the lore that her mother had made sure that she learned as a youngling, and she had many physical traits that connected her to the Alkidike, but she wasn't one of them. She wasn't allowed to go to their homeland and see the tree that had given her mother life nor was she able to follow their paths even if she wanted to. Learning about their way of life almost seemed like a tease since she could never walk those steps.

"That she's you're mother, well other mother since Abeni is also you're mother. I also know that the Alkidike worship her as the one true Goddess because of this, her ability to bring life into the world."
That part had always confused her. Her mother brought life into the world, Lasarra gave birth to both herself and her twin sister. Did that make her and every other Earthling female a Goddess? Did that mean Lasseyn was a Goddess herself?

Lasarra frowned at her daughters words. She was right, partially, but she knew that Lasseyn had to know more then that. She always struggled with how much she should try to mold her children to her religion. They were more Shifter then Alkidike after all, and it would be selfish of her to make them believe in Aisha like her when their father believed in Serin and the Shifter Gods and Goddesses. Still she wanted her children to know about Aisha, so that when they were older they could pick for themselves who they wanted to believe in.

"We do not worship her solely because she gives birth, there are many reasons why Aisha is our Goddess. She is a living being, and the mystics of our people are able to understand her. Like the earthlings Gods and Goddesses she gives us direction when we need it and is available to answer our prayers. That's what our children are, the prayers being answered of those that are worthy."

"Why didn't you and father pray for me and Riona that way then? Are you and dad not worthy?" She knew the answer to the question, but she also knew it wouldn't make her mother happy to answer it. Although she was aware that it wasn't nice to hurt her mom intentionally, she didn't want to talk about Aisha and the "sisters" that her mother had. They had abandoned her and rarely ever did Lasseyn even see any of these sisters. Other then her grandmother, who couldn't even really come that much due to her old age, she hadn't even seen an Alkidike up close. She was also pretty sure that her very existence would make some of the Alkidike mad, but from what her mother had told her most of those women were off on some island where they wouldn't be able to hurt anyone ever again.

"I just don't understand why if she's so important to you why you can't go see her more. Or for that matter why my sister and I can't go see her. How are we spouse to worship her and believe in her if we aren't even able to see her. And why didn't you have children through her like the others if you believe in her?"
Although these questions weren't kind they were starting to be something she was really curious about. She always got the kid version of things and wanted to know more.

She winced at the questions, hoping that her daughter didn't see just how much the questions she asked bothered Lasarra. Sure they were questions that needed answering, but Lasarra thought that she would have more years until she had to answer them. But her girls were so smart, she wasn't entirely surprised. "Well all those questions have complicated answered my dear."

For a while she didn't speak, and whens she finally did it was not to say something about what they had been talking about. "Keep your eyes open for the fruit, we're deep enough in now that we should start climbing up. Izsha stay close to us on the ground."

She started to climb up, making sure not to stay far from her daughter. "Your father and I did pray for you. He prayed to his Gods and Goddesses and I to Aisha, and although it wasn't in the conventional way I did get you and your sister." There were other questions that Lasseyn had asked, but Lasarra had decided to ignore them for the time being.

She knew the questions were complicated, if they were easy she would have thought of the answers to them herself. But for some reason she was pretty sure that when her mother said complicated she really meant that the questions were uncomfortable for her to answer, or that she thought that they were too adult for Lasseyn to understand. That was stupid though. She understood more then her mother gave her credit for. At least she thought she did.

She climbed behind her mother, not sure if she believed in what her mother was saying. She was pretty sure it didn't work like that, but she didn't know enough about where babies came from to fight her mother on the subject. "Okay, so you did pray and I was born from you instead of Aisha. But that doesn't answer my other questions though."

Her mother didn't say anything so for the time being Lasseyn jumped in front of her and started to climb higher and higher. Once she got all the way up she started to go deeper, seeing where she had picked fruits before but no new ones had grown yet.

Lasarra was thankful that her daughter accepted something she said. She was sure that her daughter didn't really understand what she was saying, her voice was unsure, but that was too be expected. She was still a youngling after all so she couldn't be expected to understand everything. Somethings were simply just too adult for young minds to understand.

As they climbed Lasarra thought of which question to answer first, which was whichever one she felt wouldn't lead to more dangerous questions. She knew she had to give her daughter something in order to satisfy her curiosity but she didn't want to give her too much.

"I can go see her, it would be not the easiest but I could go see her. I was born from her, so although there would be some who wouldn't want me on the island I lived there as a youngling and most of my young life so they couldn't tell me no... But it wouldn't be easy, and I wouldn't be able to take you guys." There, it was an answer to one of the questions.
