When it was all said and done, Castor had taken the crystal and had set it away. Far away. Hidden and buried outside the city where if it could harm, it would not be an immediate threat.

What he couldn't say the same was for Caedus. Things he claimed didn't add up. There was a measure of hope that perhaps he was mistaken, or perhaps, that he'd been misled. But nothing could be left to conjecture. Castor had done enough second guessing, enough attempts at solving the riddles and warnings to simply ignore what he knew.
Not all things will be as they appear.

So it was that Castor went up the hill powered in the likeness of his eternal form, but his expression the same one he wore as a royal. Cautionary.
"You remain." It was not surprise in his voice, but a simple statement.
"I would apologize for the harassment that others did but I'm not one to be in the habit of making excuses or apologies on behalf of idiots." He stood across from the male, lips a thin line.
"I'm also not one to bullshit more than needed. So to be frank, you up for story hour?"

Castor had not necessarily antagonized Caedus, but he felt very verified in reserving some great amount of caution when dealing with the Prince. Even if he was only an Eternal Senshi in appearance, Caedus knew what power he held.

It was difficult to pry himself from what safety (how little it may have been) of the trees to meet with the man.

"I remain, as I said I would," he answered. "Do not worry yourself with apologies for me. I do not expect them."

His golden eyes were on Castor, waiting for any indication that there was a threat.

"What do you want to know?"

"You might not, but others will expect you to forgive them based on the idea you simply should. Arrogance and ignorance go hand in hand."

Castor circled Caedus until he stood between trees and figure, blue eyes flickering around to catch sight or warning of anything lingering.

"I want to hear what you know of the timeline of events. Your story you see- it would offer an insight of intimate details to just who and how certain figures rose to power, and how they fell to ruin. I want you to tell me your story- how you came earth, who came with you. Names, places."

He held up his hand.
"But I want the most details on five figures. Endymion, the prince. Beryl." He gave her no title. "The Lunar Princess Serenity. Anything you know of the senshi of Earth, and finally- Metallia. Your story is one of a trader who dealt with the royal court. You by virtue of your duty, would have had to have known more than a commoner. Than anyone of low rank."

He did not sit, though he motioned for Caedus to lead him if need be.
"First- Tell me the story of your people. How your race came to be. How you, came to be, and how your people came to earth ah and before I forget."
He pulled out the crystal he'd taken, still unused, untouched.
"What other worlds or wonders you might have associated with. But all in due time. I demand a bit, but it all matters. History matters."

Caedus did not appreciate being circled like prey; he felt cut off from the only place he had available to him as some sort of safety net and he wondered if Castor was aware of that when he moved to stand between him and the line of trees.

His eyes narrowed a bit when Castor referred to him as a 'trader who dealt with the Royal Court', but he did not comment on it.

"A full answer would take hours, if not days," he replied after a moment. "A thousand years ago is a long time to remember."

Caedus did not sit; he would not show any unnecessary weakness to the prince.

"My race came to be as all do. Through stroke of luck. We are divergent from our ancestors and sought to create a new, better world for our people. So we took to space. There are unlimited possibilities once you are no longer grounded. The list of worlds we were associated with were in the hundreds, easily. Many locations had different resources vital to our survival. We imported much, and exported knowledge, technology, and training. We traveled to Earth as we did all of them. We set the court for our planet. When we are near enough to our location, we send out smaller ships. It is basic. We have warp pads on other planets, for ease of transit."

He shifted positions, eyes still on the prince. He was wary of the man, that much was clear. When Castor had a crystal that powerful, he had every reason to be wary of him.

"And we have exactly that much time. Senshi, knights- timeliness is not exactly a strong suit."

Castor noted he did not sit, he did not do much. He was stable, unmoving, and it made a small part of his lip upturn with a smirk.

"Thank you. These warp pads though? Am I correct to assume that one exists on earth and thus, is why you've requested energy? A relic, as it would be called now, would I imagine like all things of the past to be in a dormant state. I admit, I'm curious to what they look like, or if some might yet exist on a senshi's world even now. A tangent topic." He gave a shrug, sitting himself down on the grass. Let the other figure stand, it did not bother him any less.

"As humans, an alien is as much an enigma to us as anything else. Frankly, you terrify me. You present the absolute threat of everything unknown to us simply by existing. Every encounter we've had from aliens has been hostile. You don't trust me. That much is easy enough to tell, and I prefer it that way."

He kept staring up at Caedus.

"But I don't need to trust you, or you to trust me, to know that you present an opportunity and potential for us to gain an advantage in this war. We claim a common enough enemy, and that is enough grounds for me to not do my best to kill you. That is enough of a commonality between us to stay my hand, no matter how deeply troubling and disturbing you are."
Castor put the crystal on the ground in front of him, the wound on his arm wound in fresh bandages causing him to flinch.
"I do not trust anyone completely. But I do know one thing I can always count upon, and that is war. War is our common cause, and that should be enough for us to share information. For you to ask boons of my insights, and my knowledge."

"Our shared ignorance will do us no good."

"I cannot show you where it is," Caedus said suddenly; his eyes moved to the crystal and then back to Castor's face. His mind was clearly still on the warp pad. "That power is too easy to abuse." He paused, and while he might have been content to leave it there, he provided a bit more information if only to appease Castor; he did not want to put himself on the Prince's bad side. "And more than that, I do not know if it still exists, or where. It is not where I thought it should be. I already looked. But know that I did not come here with the intent to trouble you. I would not be here at all if I had things my way. I am not a fan of death. Being trapped on a planet that does not know me, does not know anything about the universe, is terrifying. But less so than the Rift."

He tensed, and shuddered even just thinking of it. He was quick to change the subject, though.

"But if you are willing to answer questions, I would be grateful to utilize your knowledge. I wish to know how long the senshi have been here. When they started showing up on this Earth. The Negaverse has existed for so long—how is it that no one has stopped them? Earth is thriving. How can a planet that thrives in the midst of such Chaos not also rise up and destroy it?"

It was fair enough. The alien wanted to keep his secrets, and if anything, Castor figured if he had such a place on his world, he'd recall it in due time. Or notice the difference. "That is fair." He left the subject alone, and chuckled when the man wanted his own questions answered.

"LIke I said. Ignorance does us no good in a shared goal. As far I know- we must go back roughly 20 some off years to Japan in the 1980s. From the account of a mauvian by the name of Luna, Serenity of the Moon Kingdom and her court had been reborn alongside the prince of earth. However, they faced the threat of Beryl and Metallia combined and so Sailor Moon as she went by, killed herself and her court in a gambit. One that failed. While Beryl was for a time, slain, her spirit I guess remained, and Metallia went dormant. One General King as far as I know remained- Charonite. It was he who took residence here in Destiny City, and he who led the charge against senshi when I was awoken. I was one of the first few, and that was only a bit under 7 years ago."

"So to answer in full, at one time, Earth had it's own senshi, but depending on your knowledge of earths history, that might have been well before even your time. As we were told, it was... not a smooth removal and transition. But non native senshi would have been within the last 7 or so years. Discounting Serenity and her court in the 1980s."

He leaned back as he sat, resting his body on his hands, chest exposed.
"As for how Chaos did not consume it, we were told that after the Princess died, they were dormant until they could be reborn- the same was likely true for the prince of earth and it's crystal. From a leader stand point, it would make no sense to consume a planet while it's crystal bearer did not inhabit it unless you intentially desired to crimple them in their next rebirth. Sure, you might get energy, but in earth's case, the loss of a crystal so powerful would make it pointless. It also might had to do with Beryl's affinity for the prince of earth. If she allowed Metallia to consume his world, he might be reborn elsewhere, thus, rendering his world not only inhospitable without his crystal, but making finding him a needle in a haystack scenario."

"As to why no one has stopped them- Humans have been living in ignorance. My own theory is that those who could manipulate chaos saw no need to do so. Having it remain mostly uninfluenced allowed a greater chance to draw back it's host crystal bearer. The other possibility, one I bet on, is that chaos was focused on it's efforts to crush other worlds. Worlds like my own."

Castor drew in a deep breath before he let it out, a visible tenseness rising and falling with him.
"I have vivid memories of my world's fall- it was shortly after earth's, and directly from similar chaos forces. I wager my world was one of many to have come under such an attack."

There was an undeniable eyeroll when he mentioned that Serenity had been reborn—and then promptly killed herself and her allies in an effort to kill Beryl that didn't even last.

But his eyes remained on Castor for the duration of his information sharing. He watched intensely, almost unblinkingly, and then looked away when he mentioned the falling of another world.

"I am sorry to hear that. The falling of your world, in this life or the last, must not have been an easy thing. If it fell by some hand of Chaos, then I do not question why you might be particularly wary of strangers. But know, my only goal right now is to get home. I wish the Negaverse destroyed, but I have neither the power nor resources to do so. But you do. There are far more of you than I had expected. I hope I will not remain to trouble you for much longer. But…When I am better, and with my people…"

He shrugged. "Perhaps we can restore some alliance. Though, if most of your Earth is so ignorant to the presence of Chaos—to you, even, that may be difficult. But I do not wish to return to Earth as long as Beryl's presence is still felt."

Castor didn't flinch or change his tone to his credit.
"No. Reliving my world's death and my own is not an easy memory. It is what gives me my resolve now. I cannot allow it much more than that."
Cannot, should not. Yet too often it rose like a tidal wave, crushing and drowning him. All he did was hold it back. Hold it in until it exploded brilliantly in his face.

"I thank you for your sympathy though. However, I fear you over estimate us. Metallia's reach is tied to too many officers, and I fear that tie of command is what would allow it to's defenses and energy to be of a greater mass than we might have. Theoretically, they would act as pockets of energy from which she could draw upon and discard, where as we must leave and recharge if we were to attempt to directly engage. It's tricky to say, but in the end, it would be a matter of whom would have the energy reserves to triumph and prevail. As for Beryl- she is dead. We have enough confirmation to know it is fact."

He smiled. "The false, self styled queen is dead. And sadly the ones she hurt the most have not lived long enough to see it."
His gaze drifted back to the city. "Yet her puppet master remains. Tell me- how do you recount the royal family and her ties? There are various accounts, and I would hear a direct one."

"The Royal family of Earth? I recall them." His eyes narrowed a bit, as if in deep thought. "…Though much of them are shadows in my mind. I remember faceless soldiers, and tacticians and counselors. I remember the eyes. All of them. Or…"

He sounded like he doubted himself.

"At least, I think I do. I…I remember," he insisted, though it was not clear if he was speaking to Castor or just trying to convince himself. "I burned her face—their faces—into my mind. I did not want to forget them. I wanted to remember who I would destroy."

He paused, and then looked up hastily. "Do not mistake me for some monger of war, though. I do not act out of vengeance alone. A deep anger burns through me. I feel it in ways I have never felt any other emotion. Sometimes it felt as though it burned all the others away. I was mad for what they did to me. But I was mad for what they did to my people, as well. They were in danger. I would do anything I could to protect my world. And if there are threats, I would see them handled. One way or the other. But destruction was the only destiny for Beryl."

He fell quiet, as if withered by his own display. "…What do you wish to know of them?" he finally asked, haggard and reluctant.

Castor's eyebrow rose slightly as he watched Caedus try to recall the information before finally asking, "Is it possible your memories have been altered or tampered with?"

He figured it was a fair question. "They have been known to manipulate their officers and use tactics to gaslight them. However, what you can recall and do not doubt- Who's faces? Beryl is one whom you loathe that is apparent and if it helps, tell me of her tie to the royal family. How did she become involved? The story given to use was she was a milkmaid who coveted the prince's affections, and through her, Metallia gave power and gave to Beryl's rise and manipulation of the court."

Castorfelt a bit of sympathy. Memories, traumatic ones were difficult. Your mind would mask them in a way to hide the truths. To try and save your own sanity. Yet eventually they rose and burned and hurt. Ultimately, it just hurt.
"I know it is often hard to bring forth and dig up these feelings, so again, thank you for being willing to do so. I am not a stranger to being asked to experience such myself."

The Space Cauldron

"No, it is impossible," he said, waving his hand dismissively. "I am not susceptible to such things, if ever they even attempted such a thing on me. I am too advanced. Chaos does not taint me. Not like it taints you," he sighed.

He reached up a hand, almost as if he intended to comb back his hood, but froze only an inch away. He crossed his arms over his chest and drew in a slow breath.

"It is time. I had time to think about so much, and then the topics dwindled. I would repeat the same thing, over and over. But then I would doubt myself, my memories. If the life I had before ever existed, or if I had always been in the Rift. There were days when I questioned if I was even any different from the youma. Where I convinced myself I was. I lost my sanity, for a while."

He was quiet, and bitter.

"Sometimes I still question if any of this is real."

But this could not be some fantasy. In no fantasy would he ask himself to regale others of Beryl, and what he knew of her.

"The Royal Court would tell you that she was born to a noble family, that oversaw a small, but powerful region of land. They would tell you that she was blessed with magical gifts, and it was her beauty and prowess with these skills that attracted the Royal Family to her. She was a better candidate for most. The Royal Family could not pass up the opportunity to have such a powerful Queen. The marriage was arranged, but in all the time I saw them, I saw only love and tenderness. Perhaps it was a show they put on for the public eye. I did not pay it much mind. She was not in power at the time, nor her Endymion. They were children to me."

He shrugged. "But there are lies in that story. You could see it in her hair, her eyes. When they spoke, I knew it. She did not match the parents she claimed. There where whispers that reached my ears. That she was not born to a noble family, but instead to the household of commoners. She had the rare gift of sorcery, and she was learning to use it. Naturally. Seeking to use her skills, the noble family took her in. Her family was compensated, and she was given a taste of higher society. But a taste can be deadly, and she sought more. She was different from those of noble blood, and had a fierce desire to prove herself to them. She was competitive, and jealous. I remember that. But she thought she had to fight to keep everything. If that story holds true, I suspect she was afraid of losing everything. Not only the man she loved, but the life she had been given."

He did not seem to be sympathetic; instead, Caedus seemed to think the whole thing trivial and annoying. He was angry at her, no matter what story she had.

Once, more, Castor felt his curiosity grow. Nothing was immune to chaos or order. Impartial perhaps, but to him they were fundamentals of sentience. Of organics. Though- He brushed it away.

"I should take offense to that- I am not tainted. Were I tainted my ability to purify Chaos energy would be impossible. I would be acting against myself and my own powers. The potential exists, but no. Do not imply I am tainted. It's quite insulting." He kept his voice level but it was clear enough that he had taken offense, and was only ignoring the subject because it was lesser than others at hand.

"Time though is- stressing. I have gone into my own memories often enough to eventually question if I fabricated them due to my desperation to have validation or, if they were real. However." He reached up, shaking the mess of his white hair.
"I have the benefit of my crystal and world. They offer clarify when I would fall to far into my own memories. It must have been hell to be trapped with no anchor."

He sat, silent for a short while allowing them both a moment of composure, of reprieve.
"Your story is odd as it may sound, comforting." He smirked, looking to the grass and away.
"It echos every account I have been given, every detail posed and offered to us piecemeal. Each account firsthand, yet none offering a cohesive whole. None would give us a look or complete story. Your eyes are the eyes of an outsider looking in."

Looking back to Caedus however was now the face of a man who dis not enjoy his own words, his own thoughts.
"What you have told me must be told to others. Even if you were not privy to the inner workings of the court, the eyes of an outsider see the actions of a world and it's culture, and can tell it's story from a perspective it's own subjects might not know. It is powerful ammunition. While Beryl is dead and we seek to destroy Metallia, in the long run, those loyal to chaos will not be gone from this world. To destroy an enemy you must destroy it's call to arms, you must destroy it's legitimacy. What you have told me is an important key to that weapon of our future battles."

Castor continued on.
"Here on earth, to give a perspective, there is a movie called Star Wars. It's a hero's quest story set in a fiction space, and in the beginning the hero's companion draws his weapon to a hostile stranger at a bar. However, before the bar becomes a bar fight the question no one can answer is this 'Who shot first?' Who instigated the fight. The hero's companion, or the threatening stranger?"

He gave a short chuckle. "My next question, as difficult as it might be- can you recall the events leading to your imprisionment, that would have led to the hostilities on earth- hostilities that might have led to war with the moon? Who shot first basically, who started the war and whom invaded who?"

The Space Cauldron
PostPosted: Wed Feb 03, 2016 10:18 pm

Caedus cast him a glance. "Do not be so sensitive, Prince. I meant humans. Humans are naturally inclined to be suitable hosts. When I say I am not tainted in the same way as 'you', I mean that my species is not susceptible to the same degree. It was not an insult, it was a fact. Please do not misunderstand me. I have no desire to insult you."

He was pacing, slowly, still on edge. "…I did my best to recall the events prior to my imprisonment earlier, with your group. We had scheduled a meeting to renegotiate terms and ensure that Earth would continue to support my homeworld. Beryl had requested aid. Some of our technology would have helped attack the moon. Twice, before, we had requested our aid. We found excuses. Convenient excuses. I suppose she suspected we were trying to buy time. We did not want to be involved in her war. I did not have the full information. Information was slipped to us by members of our society that lingered on Earth. We wanted eyes on the situation. Beryl claimed to be concerned with the well-being of Earth. Endymion fled to the moon for a time. Or so they say. Perhaps he met with them to try and negotiate. We did not have eyes on the Moon. What information I have is as likely to be propaganda as it is truth. When last I spoke with Beryl, she was only preparing for war. I did not see the start of it. It was brewing, that I knew, but we thought we had more time to secure resources. But."

He was quiet and shook his head.

"We were mistaken. I do not know attacked first, but I have no doubt in my mind that it was Beryl, driven mad with Chaos and a thirst for blood and vengeance."

He had to admit, he was a touch let down, but then, he figured that still, it was something, more than they had had in the past. Yet-

"I agree. However, as we know it, she led a coup. Endymion had yet to wed her as was told to us, to me, by Kunzite. He went to the moon to be with Serenity. It was Beryl who swayed the soldiers through chaos to betray him and launch the assault. However, I've been give accounts by their agents that her claim to the crown was legitimate. What doesn't add up however, is why she would have attacked for as you say, vengeance. To target her intended seeking to kill him? Chaos's sway may blind, but even under it's thrall, to wipe logic so deep from people's minds is unprecedented. Without Endymion her rule would lack any legitimacy and killing him would undermine her cause to war. Did she indeed, lead a coup, or at the time was Metallia's power so great that in tandem with her own abilities, she was able to rob others of their reasoning so deeply?"

He didn't think of it.
"If indeed, sorceresses existed once- Then why have none been born since? Why would they not be used as she once was?"
