Prehnite needed practice. Of the non-deadly, youma avoiding sort. He knew now he shouldn't be calling it sparring, that he should be taking it more seriously. He winced even thinking about it. He would..he absolutely would...First he would get answers, and find someone with a real weapon to practice against. As many people as were willing, because he was tired of being the kicked dog...

So Prehnite had picked a place on the outskirts of the city. Dark, unused, it almost appeared to him to be some sort of unfinished housing project.

Using his communications crystal to put out a call, to a contact he'd received via another Captain he'd been working with. He could only hope that Captain Richterite would be willing to respond well to his call. He didn't particularly want to disturb the man with his trivialities. He hadn't exactly met other Lieutenants yet which he could call on...and he was looking for experience, and wisdom. He didn't think he'd get that from someone his own rank and status.

When Captain Richterite had received the call he had reacted at first with suspicion. Had someone been watching him? Did they know he'd been shirking off his duties lately? No, if that was the case then certainly they would have done something other than send a Lieutenant to him for a training session.

He had agreed to meet the Lieutenant at the place he had designated. It was an area that he wasn't as familiar with as others that he tended to 'patrol' (how loosely he used the term), but that was likely for the best. It would hopefully mean fewer interruptions and more practice and instruction.

At least he had the luxury of teleporting to the site, which he did upon powering up. "Lieutenant Prehnite, I presume?"

Prehnite turned to face the Captain, smiling at the other man as he was brought out from his thoughts. Richterite looked, nothing like Leucite, he was prettier. Not that he'd thought all captains looked alike..but..he looked much less like he was interested in smearing him into a paste on the dirt than some others. "You presume right, thank you for meeting with me on such short notice."

Prehnite couldn't help but envy the man, being able to teleport at will. He wanted..so many things..and he wanted them now. Being patient was the most annoying part of everything he was striving for.

"I'll admit, I was hoping for just a simple spar..and possibly, some information?" Prehnite wasn't sure if being honest was best, but, it'd been working well for him so far. "I've been..not inactive..but..absent. In South America for the last three years. I have some catching up to do."

"A bit of training, I can help you out with. Information? Depends on what sort you're looking for. Willing to share as much as I can." He smirked softly while walking a slow circle around the other young man.

"Might be best to start with what your weapon is, though, so I've got an idea of what kind of training might benefit you the most. Run into any senshi lately?" His brow quirked. "Or knights. I've seen an even amount of both around lately myself. Weren't any of the latter in the early days, just a bunch of skirts."

Prehnite was grateful that Richterite was being so willing. Generous even, it was a nice change of pace. "Knights and pages, in spades. I almost wonder if there are any Senshi left sometimes." Prehnite chuckled, really, he figured he just had bad luck...good luck? He truly wasn't overly keen on running into any Senshi, the pages seemed a bit more predictable, easier to deal with.

"I'm looking, of course, to grow. Personally at least...I hadn't considered pursuing becoming a Captain until I returned..and got my a** handed to me, at a tea shop of all places. By a candle!" Prehnite snorted, cutting himself off in his little rant. "Any information on the process, would be beneficial."

Prehnite easily summoned his trowel from nothing, slashing at the air with it lightly as it came into his hand. "A gardening trowel. It's not the worst weapon on hand, but it's not exactly intimidating." It was terrible for battles against distance weapons as well. He had to get in close to get anything done.

"If we're being honest, which I'd like to hope we are, I would rather run into a knight any day over one of the skirts. I might not be too familiar with everything they can do, but I know how weapons work. Figuring out how to counter a weapon attack is a hell of a lot easier than preparing yourself for whatever magic some skirt might throw at you." Richterite did not have the highest opinion of senshi. Those that he had encountered all seemed to be hot-headed women who would much rather attack than stand around and calmly discuss the war.

At Prehnite's weapon demonstration he laughed softly, summoning his own bladed throwing cards to his hand. "You're already off to a better start than I was, Lieutenant. When I first started off these were cards from a game called Magic. I had a few more of them than I do now, but the most impressive thing I could do was throw down for a game of fifty-two pick up." Shaking his head he vanished his weapon again with a small slight of hand. "Given your current weapon, what would you consider your weaknesses?"

"Thank you! Finally, someone else who gets it." Prehnite chuckled, everyone else seemed so..dedicated, was maybe the best word. He wasn't lacking in dedication, nor conviction of his cause, not really. He was simply applying his own goals to it, in a way that benefited both himself and those above him. He would happily meet his quota, but he'd do it his own way.

"The children are what really get me..I mean..some of our people start young, sure, but they have literal child soldiers." Just the thought of all those itty bitty pre-teens, who for all intents and purposes should have been no where near a battle, let alone running loose with magical powers. It was disturbing. Not everyone flinched at the idea of killing a child; of corrupting a child. They had a department for that sort of thing...

"Thank you for your confidence. So far being better off has been more to my detriment than anything else...I'd rather have Magic." Having an actual weapon, had at least been helpful in ending the fights he started. One way or another. Still, he wondered if he would have been so inclined to start said fights, if he didn't have an actual weapon.

"To bad it's not a regular deck, we could play Black Jack." Grinning, actually enjoying having a decent conversation for once. "Dealing with long range weapons, every time. That often involves far more luck than I actually have. I can throw this thing, but it's a close range weapon. It always seems to come down to grappling at some point...or running." Sighing, and wishing he were simply better at all of this.

Of course that was the point of going to multiple sources for training; for information. He could get a better view of the whole picture that way, and he knew being narrow minded in that regard had been an issue for him.

"Ran into one of those kids the other day. He didn't actually introduce himself, but he called out a name prior to his attack so I am going on the assumption that his name was 'Chara'. Word of warning if you run into him, especially since you can't teleport; he's mouthy and won't listen to reason about why you don't want to punch a kid in the jaw." His words were flat and clearly still irritated over just thinking about the encounter.

"Mind you, I was sixteen when I was recruited, so I probably don't have much room to talk. My superior officer had a thing for glow sticks." He smirked, shuffling his cards idly as he took a moment to reminisce.

"Have you looked into any sort of self defense classes? Or exercise even? Kick boxing, tae bo... Anything that might help you pull a few crazy moves out of nowhere? I used to fence, in highschool. It set me up for defense. In your case, depending on what your weapon becomes as you progress through the ranks, something like that might help your fighting stance. Learning how to duck and dodge, though? Any sort of agility training is useful in ranged attacks. So is learning how to talk fast. Running just makes them mad, or gives them too much confidence."

"Avoid the masochistic children..Noted..." Prehnite chuckled, god, the image of it. He may have been a murderer, but he was a murderer with morals..standards..of a sort.

"More room than some pre-teen I'd imagine. Though that makes me feel old now. I was 19. I'm fairly certain that whoever recruited me could be dead; or not...It's not something I've actually bothered to check back in on." Prehnite winced at the thought. He should have, but to be fair, he'd run off, to another continent. It felt better to try and flow back into the new than check up on the old.

"No, that would have been the smart thing to do. Instead I looked into Leucite..and promptly enrolled myself in his school of painful morning routines. That man is terrifying; in a good way." Any day that ended with him still living and breathing was a good day now. Leucite seemed to be a fan of gyms, and boxing. Prehnite was not, but would make it work for the sake of his own survival.

"I do intend to look into something more formal though, and outside of all this. I was cocky enough to think I wouldn't need anything..the first time.." Prehnite knew he had to learn some lessons the hard way. The painfully hard way. "Fencing?"

"You know, a trowel can be a little like a sword..in some aspects. Do you still practice?"

"I at least tried to stay out of trouble. In an occupation like ours I'd say that it tends to find you, follow you even, but that was also almost five years ago." Richterite snorted softly, pausing to rub at the back of his head as he thought about how he had spent that time. It was incredible how much everything had changed yet he had stayed the same.

"It's been a while since I've been back to the gym. I still have all of my equipment, though, and it really is something that I should get myself back into. It was a good routine and it gave me something to stay grounded. It's also really good exercise. If you think you might be interested I'll let you know when sign-ups are for the place I go. In the meantime," he turned on his heel so that he could put a bit of space between himself and the Lieutenant, "you called me here for a spar. We can chat after."

I'm glad that you're enjoying him! I've always liked his character, but he's been difficult lately. XD

Prehnite was absolutely interested, he'd make sure to stay in touch with Richterite, on a regular basis even. He hadn't had the fortune of meeting anyone else so approachable since coming back to DC. They may even have had more things in common then Prehnite had realized.

"So I did. Feel free to show me, exactly how that weapon of yours works." Prehnite smirked, keeping his eyes on Richterite and his body loose.

He hadn't exactly had to face flying cards before. How did that even work as a weapon? Still it was better to be prepared for everything..Especially dealing with someone who was a class above. It was to often he was outmatched in a fight.

"My weapon is good for ranged attacks and it has sharp edges. It's going to be up to you to defend yourself," he flashed the lieutenant a grin. "And just so you know? I'm not going to hold back."

He called his cards back to his hand, giving them a light, carefully shuffle before drawing one. He only had four of them to throw at a time before recalling the set so that he could attack again. The limitations had taught him an important lesson: make each throw count.

"Something that you should keep in mind when you're fighting against one of the skirts. Their magic usually has some sort of a limitation. If they use all of their magic at once they're defenseless." It was a sound theory to work on, at least. In at least one of his fights he had seen a scout expend most of their energy. "Kind of like us when it comes to summoning a weapon. If you're going to throw that trowel of yours instead of using it like a dagger it's going to take energy to call it back."

While talking he sent one of his cards flying, throwing it at the lieutenant with the flick of his wrist.

Prehnite returned the grin easily, this was far more fun then being someones punching bag. All the benefits of training, without the 'fearing for his soul' parts. Definitely preferable.

"I've noticed that. Sometimes calling it back is exhausting, does that ever get easier?" Prehnite loved his one trick, as often as it failed, it was still better than nothing. Except of course for those times when he just couldn't. He wasn't sure if he simply needed to keep more energy on his person...or to find more targets.

It was all good information though, valuable. The idea that despite the difference between themselves and Senshi; there were similar limitations. It eased the fear of the idea that they had a limitless well of magic to draw from, when he had no magic at all.

Prehnite watched the card leave the captains wrist with a practiced flick, barely able to track it once it was actually moving. He hadn't realized a card could be fast..

Sidestepping suddenly as it whizzed by just in front of his face. Narrowly avoiding leaving a mark.

"I don't think anything gets easier for us, so to speak. We're just given access to more power so that we can do more with it. It takes longer to wear us out. What you might have been able to call back to you only once before feeling the strain you might be able to return to you two or three times." He brought another card to his hand, grinning as Prehnite dodged his first 'attack'.

"In a real fight its better to not let your opponent know that, though. If they think you're weak enough they might come in close enough for you to attack." Some senshi were just as dangerous to have close as others were to keep at arm's length, though. Fighting them was never pleasant.

He shook his head before letting another card fly, this time aiming for the shoulder area of Prehnite's trowel arm.

Well, it wasn't exactly the answer he'd wanted, but it was honest. It made sense as well, and that was the best part. Getting answers that worked. "Noted..Not that I'm a ladder climbing type, but it'd be nice to have that power." Even if it was only for the sake of saving his own skin. He threw his trowel away to easily.

"I prefer them at a distance, even if it doesn't always put things in my favor..Question, youmas, are they supposed to be intelligent?" He couldn't help but think of Iolanthe. Gods was she beautiful..smart..not at all like any of the other things he'd encountered; or avoided encountering.

This time Prehnite actually kept track of the quick movement, letting himself act instinctively, by bringing the trowel to bear and defensively striking away the sharp card. A slight screech of metal striking metal; surprised at the card leaving an actual mark on his own weapon.
