After a week of the tamers in the village hassling him about his failure. Nuri was determined to go back and take a second chance. He knew there was a nest in the area, which meant that the bird would return as long as there were eggs. It also meant there was a bit of a danger that the bird could become protective of said nest, attacking him on sight. It was a major risk, but Nuri wanted to get one of the great birds of the sky. He didn't need many, as one would be enough to train and evaluate for taming purposes.
And, he knew that the army was curious about the birds for their riders too.
As Nuri returned to the scene, he was pleased to see that the bird was alone on its nest. It wouldn't be too difficult to sneak up on the creature, and this time he planned on using his whip to hopefully snatch the creature by one if its long legs. The way he had his whip set up was a gentle slip noose that he could release if needed. It wouldn't harm the bird but it would help keep it close to the ground.
Inching through the brush, he came from the side and noticed the bird was preening. It was still just as striking as the first time he saw it, and Nuri almost became distracted from the flame-like feathers.
Catching himself, he gently moved his spare whip toward the leg of the bird, waiting for it to shift and step into the loop before flicking it up and tightening it around the creature's leg.

As soon as the bird shifted, it seemed to become aware of the whip on its leg. It let out another shrill cry before taking off above the nest. Shifting around and pulling, it tugged Nuri right out of his hiding spot and near the middle of the clearing. More cries filled the air as Nuri struggled to tug the bird down, and he debated letting go of the whip if only to let the creature calm down. The entire fuss was only a matter of seconds, but Nuri felt as if it was hours.
When the bird finally settled on a branch above the clearing, it seemed to glare down at the whip on its leg. Nuri watched with fascination as the Kinfa poked and prodded the whip, before suddenly it began to snap at it.
"No no no!" He hissed out, releasing the whip so the bird could pull away. Startled once more, the Kinfa cawed loudly and pushed off into the air, leaving Nuri covered in sweat and leaves as she stood next to the egg.
"Well...that went as I expected..." Nuri spoke down toward the egg, glancing down before double checking as he noticed it shiver almost. Was it going to crack.
Leaning down, he reached out to touch the egg, but the shrill cry of the mother caused him to jump back and head home.
