Niadra was happy, happier even then she thought she'd be.The preparations for her dance school were underway and she had even been approached more then once by people who were interested in joining it. She figured classes would be small at first, but slowly get bigger as time went on and more people heard about the school.
She sat at the kitchen table brushing her hair. Nyiim had gone off somewhere earlier and she didn't have much to do. She had already checked in on the school's progress and she was waiting to see where the others of the village thought it would go best, she had already picked out three and now they had to pick one. It was a long process, building a school, longer then she thought, but since her days were typically filled with Nyiim she didn't mind. Plus it wasn't like she needed the school to dance, she loved putting on little performances for people of the village.

Nyiim had demanded to be a part of the construction of the school, less for his own interest in it being absolutely perfect than for the feeling that it would mean so much more to be involved in the creation of something great for his love. Thus far things had been going well...rather well. A year ago he would have been hesitant to let a woman in his house, let alone hug and kiss one at his leisure. This was Niadra though, not just some random stranger.
He returned with a sack slung over one shoulder and a bag hanging from the other, Bosede in tow. He wandered off to visit Jaina, as was is habit now, and Nyiim continued inside to find Niadra at the front table.
"Here, I brought you something," he said, pulling a fruit from the bag, the same he had been tasting at the market. He offered it to her with a smile. He had a few others too, but this was the best in his opinion. "I don't think I'm the best at interior decoration. We'll have to go together some time." He had picked out a rather nice vase, but that was pretty much all of it. The rest was required materials and a few other gifts for Niadra. Did she need more scarves? No. But Nyiim had seen them and thought of her and thus had to buy them. It was exciting to have a use for his backlog of collected gold. It wasn't like he generally had to buy food and he had constructed his own shelter.
He leaned forward and kissed Niadra on the cheek affectionately.

She heard him before she saw him and instantly warmth spread throughout her body. Her love was home and things were better.
Niadra turned to face him as he came in, happily looking at the fruit that he had in his hand. "You read my mind. I was just thinking about how I wanted a nice juicy fruit." She pushed her face into his lightly when he kissed her on the cheek.
"I don't know, this place looked pretty good even before I got here, but I'm more then willing to go out and look for more things for the house." For the house, their house. It was still something she was getting use to thinking. She had never really had a house before, not one that didn't move, and now she did! It was amazing.
She took a bite out of the fruit, it was amazing! "I'm sure I could make something sweet with this..." Her mind started to wander on all the things she could make. "Speaking of food are you hungry or did you fill yourself up at the market? I made some little sandwiches, but I could make something bigger if you'd like?" Although she hadn't cooked much before she knew the basics, and now that she had the same kinds of supplies available to her more often she was starting to get better and better with certain recipes.

"Oh, did I?" Nyiim asked, and then laughed slightly. At the mention of the house looking fine he shook his head. Was it really? "You flatterer. We've been just a man and a raptrix for such a long time, I don't know what proper couples live like." Oh, but he was learning, and he loved it.
"I could use something to eat," he said then and put his bag down, then pulled from it the trio of scarves he'd purchased at a fantastic price and wrapped them around Niadra's waist, pulling her to him. He gave her a proper kiss and, as ever, it warmed him to his very core. "You know, you don't have to do all of the cooking. I'll go hunting again tomorrow and we'll have a nice fresh meal."

She laughed. "Don't worry. Until now I didn't know what proper couples lived like either. That's the fun part, we get to learn it all together." She really didn't know what most people lived like until now. She sure had stayed with Nyiim before, but even though she thought at the time she would be staying her subconscious at the time knew that she wouldn't be staying. Now it was different. Now she didn't see the house as just Nyiim's house, but their house.
She laughed as she was pulled towards him, leaning into the kiss. This was the life. He spoiled her so, which was why she loved to return the favor. "I enjoy cooking, I'm learning lots of new things that I can make. Though fresh meat does sound yummie." Although part of her wanted to offer to come with a bigger part of her knew she would just get in the way. Hunting wasn't her thing.

"Alright, I'm glad, because I'm not very good at it," Nyiim said with a smile. He stole one more quick kiss and then released Niadra from her scarf-hold, laying the fabric over her shoulder. "Do you have a preference, or shall we just take what we get, hm?"
It was odd. Nyiim found he couldn't keep his hands off of her, or his lips. He had once been so adverse to physical contact as to stiffen or flinch at an accidental bump in the market, and now he stood with a hand on Niadra's hip just to stay close.
"Have you checked on the studio today?"

She laughed as she twirled the scarf around her neck. She could never have enough scarves, and they would come in handy when the school was opened. Learning to dance with props was a lesson on it's own and scarves made ideal props for beginners. "I think you are perfect at it."
Leaning into him she thought for a second. "I think we should just take what we can get, add the element of surprise to the whole thing," she answered with a chuckle.
When he asked about the studio she placed her head on his shoulder. "Yes I went earlier, to bring water to the workers and see how it's doing. It seems to be coming along quite quickly!"

Nyiim smiled in a way only Niadra got to see and nodded. Ah, his sweet, easygoing friend had finally come home for good. She hadn't changed. They fit together so well. How had it taken him so long to recognize it? He felt a fool, but at least they had come to this now.
"Oh good. It may be late now, but tomorrow I'll go back and get to work. Everyone's excited, you know. They may be suspicious of new things but I haven't heard a bad word about it." Not except for from one of the elders' mouths, but change was scary when you were ancient and maybe women's midriffs had been scandalous all those years ago, but it would bring great revenue to the village.

His words were encouraging. She had been worried that the town wouldn't want her to build a dance studio, but thankfully she was proven wrong. They all seemed more then willing to help, perhaps because she promised that with the studio there would be more traffic which meant more opportunities to sell to outsiders and more trading. She hoped that when the time came she would be able to deliver on that promise.
"I'm so happy to hear that. I've talked to some of the mother's that have younger children and they've mostly agreed to put the children in if they want to. I think once the children are good enough and put on their first performance the suspicious will be gone. Then hopefully I can get some older students as well."
"Are you gonna come and learn, I can give you private lessons." She teased with a kiss to his cheek.

Having lived solidly in this village his entire life, Nyiim knew pretty much everyone. Enu's niece and nephew were getting just about old enough to dance. How sweet would that be! He wasn't sure himself what children dancing was like, but it had to be pretty adorable. Somehow he doubted t involved as much hip-swinging as he had seen Niadra do in the past.
"Me?" he asked with a laugh, "Can you imagine this body moving any way but 'awkwardly'?" It was true! He was long and gangly and mostly muscle, but, of course, if Niadra really wanted him to, he would gladly take part. Would they ever have children to teach? He blushed at the thought. He was still an outsider when it came to that sort of interaction.
"I was thinking we could watch the stars tonight? I brought something special for dessert."

She laughed back and winked at him. "I'm sure that with a little work we could get your hips to match mine." She'd never ask him to dance in front of others, she doubted he would ever be that skilled due to his longer limbs, but it would be fun for just the two of them maybe? She could just imagine all the laughter that would become of the event.
Her eyes went wide with excitement. "Special dessert? Sounds good to me, I'm always down to watch the stars with you. We could bring a hide and layout for a while." Even if they fell asleep for some time she was sure it would be okay since they had Jania and Bosede to watch over them.

Nyiim laughed in turn. "Oh, no-ho, Love. I'll never be as svelte as you," he said, "as for movement, have you ever seen Bosede dream?" He closed one eye and flailed a bit randomly, then blushed and shook his head.
"Good. That sounds like a plan," he said and smiled. They had never really gone on dates before, but how could they? They had only just admitted their feelings for one another, no matter how long they might have had them.

grasshopper pie sounds good to me, we can have them split to make food / prepare stuff and then jump to them leaving? She laughed as he did his little dance. "That was a wonderful impression of Bosede. Maybe dancing isn't the career for you, but it seems you could be a good actor." She teased him, touching his nose with the tip of her finger. He always knew the best ways to put a smile on her face. Plus the fact that he was so willing to be silly around her made her so happy.
Oh a date, she was so excited. "Oh this is going to be so much fun, now if you stop distracting me I can get together a fur for us to lay on and make you something to eat for now to hold you over until then." Although she didn't want him to leave her side, to stop giving her attention, she was excited for their date and wanted to get a few things together before then. If only she could concentrate with him around.

Nyiim blushed, still ashamed of his own actions, but at least they had made Niadra laugh. He leaned forward and kissed Niadra's cheekbone.
"You worry about food. I'll get everything together for stargazing," he said. He'd have happily cooked too but he was no chef. He'd spent his life eating unseasoned meat, often dried or salted. Niadra brought out a desire in him to experience all senses, taste not the least of them.
Some time later, Nyiim was ready with a large fur blanket and a mysterious sack of goodies, which mostly consisted of imported fruits but also a few handmade confections he had never tried before.
"I know just the place to go," he said. It was near the lake and thus perhaps a bit colder than the rest of the wood, but there was a beautiful clearing that led straight up to the stars.

Once everything was done cooking and packed away it was pretty much the time that her and Nyiim had agreed to meet. She had made a few basic things, plus some of the things she she knew he really liked. This was going to be a wonderful date, she could just feel it.
When she reached him an eyebrow was raised at what he held. The fur was to be expected, but she wondered what he had in the sack. She thought that he would have only a few fruits but it seemed that he had gone all out like her.
"Lead the way, wherever you go I shall follow." And she meant it, she would be sure to make sure they were never separated again.
