Human x Siren
_____ is a mermaid living in the ocean that surrounds the Neverland Isle. She is naturally evil and has no room for love in her heart, but _____, a curious foreigner who came to Neverland on a boat captures her interest, and resisting the urge to drown him, she finds herself feeling things she never has.

♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠  Edward woke up face down in the dirt. He immediately coughed up the water that had slithered it's way down the wrong pipe. That felt awful, he though. He pushed himself up over the wet spot he left on the sand and brought himself to his knees. The sand was strange, it shimmered up at him, like it was made out of crushed diamonds. It stretched across an entire beach reaching up towards a thick forest of strange foliage. The colorful backdrop brought him back to the reality that he had no idea where he was. He scrambled to his feet and looked around frantically for the boat that had brought him to this place, backing up against the forest. The bluest ocean he had ever seen stared back at him, but no boat. He turned his gaze to a strange floppy blue flower thoughtfully, trying to remember what had went wrong.♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠

XXXXAva swam through the waters peacefully, humming loudly as she made her way around the area. She was in a relatively good mood today, strangely enough. The sky was clear, the ocean was peaceful, and there were no annoying fairies trying to pester her. Yes, it was a great day. Popping her head into the surface, she floated atop the water, staring up at the sky. She let out a sigh of relaxation as she enjoyed the sun. Then, she felt something bang against her head. She sunk back into the water, jumping around to figure out what hit her. Her smile turned to a nasty snarl as she spun around to fight whoever just disturbed her. Then, she knocked against a wooden plank. Grasping it in her hand, she raised an eyebrow, "What the bloody hell?" she muttered. Popping her head back into the surface, she squinted at the shore, seeing a strange figure there. Now, who was that?
She swam towards it cautiously, hiding behind a rock to inspect it. It was a human. How did he get here? He wasn't one of Peter Pan's, Pan chose children most of the time. No, this was a stranger. She smirked a little, deciding to drown the lad. She opened her mouth to sing, trying to lure him towards her, but before she started, she saw his face turn to hers. She was mesmerized, and the song wouldn't play. Snapping out of her trance, she shook her head and dipped into the water. She swam near the shore, keeping her body under the water but her head above. When she got nearby, she called out, "Hey Human!" she called out harshly, "This is no place for people like you. You'd best get outta here before I, or someone else, kills you."

♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ Some kind of storm? Was there a woman on board? Not that that he believed in that old superstition. No, he couldn't remember anything like that. He remember looking out at a clear night sky, hardly a bump under his feet, and retiring to his cot. Then waking up with water in his lunges, stranded on a seemingly uninhabited island. Seemingly. A voice called out to him from the ocean. A beautiful lullaby of a voice. He turned his gaze, a lovely woman stared back at him. She floated in the water from the neck down, a sea of red hair spilling over her shoulders and dark lovely eyes set on him.
"Kill me?" He repeated. Human? It was already a strange situation, made stranger by her choice of words. He would've remembered her from the boat, he was sure, but he didn't recognize her. He also had no recollection of how he had ended up on that beach either. Perhaps she was a native or from a different boat. "I haven't the slightest idea of what you- Are you okay? You're not caught are you? You sound like you're from the homeland, I'm a Welshman myself. No need to worry."
He tried to make her feel as comfortable as possible, seeing as there was a possibility she was delirious or crazy. He left the side of the forest and approached her slowly as he spoke to her, his big toe barely touching the water.♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠

XXXXAva narrowed her eyes at him as he seemed to take light of the situation. He didn't seem to understand her. Did he hit his head in the crash, or was he simply an idiot? She rolled her eyes as he spoke, asking if she was caught. He must have thought she was a human, like him. Did he know where he was? Honestly, sometimes she wondered why humans even existed. She didn't answer his questions, simply floated in the water as she tried to decide what to do with him. She could kill him, that was always a good idea.
Then, he approached her, stepping into the waters. She hissed aggressively. She hated humans contaminating the sea, her beautiful ocean that she lived in. She glared her eyes at him, them flashing a red color as she looked at him, "Not one more step into the water human, or you'll never leave." she threatened. She dipped her body into the water, and swam near the edge of the land, stopping a few meters away. She popped her head back up the surface and scowled, "Listen, I don't care if you live or die, but you're in my territory and messing up my perfectly good day." she said harshly. She could still kill him. But why didn't she?

♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ Edward jumped back at the noise that came from the woman's mouth. It was almost inhuman and her eyes... they changed, but for only a second. He watched her as swift as a shooting star swim over to him. When her head popped back out of the water he froze. Even with that stern look on her face, she was still the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. He'd never seen that vivid of red color in any other girl's hair back home. Her eyes were that dark color again.
...But what she was saying made no sense to him. He coughed, bringing himself back to the situation. "Look, I don't know you're talking about or what I did to offend you or why you keep threatening me... but we obviously got off on the wrong foot. I'm Edward and I'm looking for a boat that might have washed up or something..."♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠

XXXXUp close, the male was strangely attractive. For a human. He had a strange charm on him, one that would certainly capture the hearts of the fairies if they caught sight of him. But Ava learned not to fall for looks. Heck, she was a living lesson as to why looks could be deceiving. Still, he intrigued her. Then he spoke again, shattering her illusion for a moment. So, his name was Edward. Fitting, she thought. He was looking for a boat, which meant he really didn't know where he was. She narrowed his eyes at him and sighed. Instead of answering him, she simply dunked into the water, staying under for a bit until she swam back up, shooting out of the water elegantly so that her full body and tail could be seen.
She gracefully splashed back into the sea, popping her head out and looking at the male with an expressionless gaze, "A boat can't get you out of here foreigner. This is Neverland, and like I said, you're in my territory." she said with a frown, hoping to intimidate him. Ava couldn't kill him, which made him a threat. She didn't know if it was some strange human power he had, or if she was losing her touch, but she couldn't kill him. So, he needed to get away from her, and she wasn't leaving.

♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ Edward watched the woman's eyes watching him. There was so much intelligence and coldness in her eyes. She was sizing him up it seemed. She didn't pause to answer him, and dunked her head under the water. He waited for her to come back, and when she didn't he muttered to himself, "Well, alright then-"
He was cut off. The woman emerged from the sea with a flare, her hip decorated with glittering scales ending in a shiny tail. He was so surprised by the water splashing him, and what he was seeing, that he tripped and fell into a sitting position onto the beach. He ran his hands through his dusty blonde hair, shaking some sand loose. He could hear what she was saying, but not really. She was a mermaid, her face was completely indifferent, as if her existence wasn't completely shocking, and he supposed to her it wasn't. He interrupted her at the end up her sentence, "Is this even real?"
He was way to shocked to be intimidated. In fact, he was completely enchanted. "You're so incredible..." ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠

XXXXAva was shocked. This male was completely charmed by her, he couldn't even be intimidated! She had charmed boys before, but it irritated her that he wasn't listening. When he interrupted her, she narrowed her eyes at him with a killing instinct. Rolling her eyes, she sighed, "Of course it's real you prat." she insulted, crossing her arms as she blew a piece of hair out of her face. He had called her incredible, which she already knew of course, but she still got a bit embarrassed when he told her so.
She was right near the edge of the beach, just far enough so that her flipper touched the bottom of the sand. She blinked at him, "How do I get it through that thick skull of yours? I'll kill you. Get out of here already before my threats aren't threats anymore." she said harshly, popping her head back under the water. She stayed stationary, wondering if he actually left.

♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ "Prat?" Edward blinked. Her crudeness knocked him out of his wonderment. Why was she so aggressive? All the beauty in the world couldn't cover a black heart. "Excuse me, if I'm a little shocked by you being half a fish! What the hell!? Great..."
She went under before he could finish. Neverland? Where was that? He had no recollection of it on any map. That wasn't even the main concern at the moment. he had met a mermaid. What was he supposed to do with that experience? She could kill him. He had heard stories, of beautiful woman with silver tails luring men into the sea with their voices, to their deaths... but, those were just stories. Until now. He wasn't scared, or maybe he was. It was too strange and new for him to decide. However, he decided it was best to not risk being murdered.
So, he turned back to the forest and started walking towards it. He stopped, he couldn't help himself from looking back. She had yet to emerge from under the water. He thinned his lips and turned to go, but when his hand parted the shrubs something darted at him from inside. He was blinded for a moment by a sparkle of light. When his eyes adjusted he saw a tiny figure bobbing in front of him. At first, he thought it was a humming bird, but then he saw it was a tiny girl. There were three of them, glowing like orbs. They blinked back at him with their tiny beautiful faces.
"Wow," he smiled wide in amazement. Where was he? What was this place? He could've never imagined... and that was the ironic thing. Neverland.The one closest to his face smiled back and moved her mouth, but he didn't hear anything. He didn't think they could speak or at least he couldn't hear them. The one to the left of the center looked to the sea, and darted out. She flitted above where the mermaid had descended curiously. Edward spoke hesitantly, "Hey, get away from there.." ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠

XXXXAva could see what was happening in ripples of the water, squinting as she watched them. Why did he look back? She waited for him to leave, but he didn't. Then, she saw three glowing orbs from afar. Oh no. Fairies. She despised fairies with all her might. They loved to mess with her in particular, and they didn't seem to stop flaunting their wings at her. So they could fly, she could breathe underwater. She watched as they seemed to plot something. She wasn't interested in finding out. Fairies were on the good side, on Peter Pan's side. And though many of the mermaids swooned at Pan, he wasn't exactly a saint. Besides, Ava didn't roll that way.
Then, one of the buggers flew just above her. They made eye contact, and she could see their glare from above. She sprinkled something above her, and it took Ava a moment to realize what it was, but once she knew, she was too late to swim away. The magic dust began to lift her out of the sea, emerging her from the water, "Ugh! Let me down you flying piece of monkey dung!" she cursed, struggling to jump down into the sea as her entire body was now airborne. The dust flew her towards the land, dropping her on the beach like a fish out of water. She flopped and cursed loudly, watching the fairies giggle happily, "You miniature, wannabe, disgusting little elves! I hope Peter Pan catches you and pins you to his wall!" she shrieked, her eyes glowing red again,

♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ Edward half expected to see an angry hand shoot out of the water and pull the fairy under, like a shark did with it's teeth. He watched her little wings flutter and shake dust into the sea. Instead of a hand, an entire mermaid came rising out of the ocean and flopped forward onto the beach. The fairy responsible came fluttering back to him with a triumphing smile and kissed the very tip of his nose. Even though the mermaid was snarling, flashing red eyes, he almost smiled. However, he felt bad for her. She was hardly threatening flopping around in the sand. He asked, "Are you alright?"
Edward came to the mermaid's side, bending his knees. The fairy tucked herself behind Edward's ear and the other two latched onto his water-stiff shirt and peaked over his shoulders curiously. Edward brushed his finger against the mermaid's arm but reconsidered and pulled away. He wasn't sure how to act, he didn't want her to snap his head off. Although, he could hardly imagine her doing so with such slender arms. She was a real show covered in that glittery sand. A mad one, though. "It seems to me they heard you mistreating me, or perhaps it's a personally grudge between you lot. However, I hardly think you deserve to drag yourself back to your territory."
He felt the fairy shift behind his ear in protest, shaking a strand of his hair loose. He admitted to himself that he appreciated the gesture if it had been done in his favor. Maybe if she did try to murder him the fairies would rush to his aid. It gave him a spark of confidence in the mermaid's presence. ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠

XXXXAva snarled at the male as he asked if she was alright. Of course she wasn't alright! She was out of her element, and those pesky fairies wouldn't let her back into the water without a fight. She watched as they hid behind the male for protection, obviously believing she wouldn't hurt him. They called her bluff. She couldn't bring herself to kill him, and it was killing her. When he grazed upon her arm, she pulled away, pressing her lips into a thin line as she glared at him. She wouldn't say a word, not yet.
He looked different up close. She could see his brown eyes clearer, and his voice was dark and enchanting. But she couldn't help but be on guard. Then he spoke again, testing her patience. She hissed at him with an almost inhuman sound, before turning her head to the sea and crossing her arms, "Nasty little bludgers." she mumbled angrily. Turning her head aggressively towards the human, her eyes had returned to their normal color, "Fairies aren't any better than my kind. They can be just as evil." she said, shooting one of the fairies and glare.

♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ ♠ Edward watched her eyes, they were stealy, cold, and ever searching. From the moment he had met her, she looked as though she was always looking for an opportunity or a flaw. He shuttered when her eyes flashed that bright color. He had to still himself when that noise came from her again, it was terrifying but he remained steady, and just as soon as it had came it was gone. It had just been a flash of anger, like a child who hadn't got what they wanted, and this comparison made him inwardly grin. When she mentioned that the fairies were evil, the one behind his ear leaned foward and stuck her tongue out, then disappeared into his hair. He thought about that word, fairy, and then mermaid. Flesh with new, tangible meanings in his mind. He shook his head at what she had said. "I don't think you're evil though, just angry. The fairies have yet to threaten me the way you have." He smiled at her, but quickly buried it with a cough.
"Look-and I don't even know your name-" he said, interrupting himself. He waited for to respond before continuing. "I don't want to ruin your day any further than I already have, but I'm really trying to play on any sympathy you may have for me. I'm lost and this is your land. I'll put you back in the ocean where you belong and leave you alone forever, because that's what you want. All I'm asking for is a little direction." He tried to look as miserable as possible, and at that point it wasn't that far from the truth.

XXXXAva shot a glare as he said that the fairies weren't evil. He wasn't far off, but he wasn't correct either. She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, "Of course I'm evil. Haven't you heard the tales? Mermaids aren't just pretty fish. We kill. For sport. And it's naive men like you who fall for it." she spat, turning her head back to the sea. She wasn't interested in listening to him, she wanted to get out of there and clear her head. This human was preventing her from being who she wants to be. When he spoke again, she merely glanced in his direction, but she didn't say anything when he mentioned her name. Once he finished his little talk, she paused for a moment. For some reason, she took pity. Her brain was having an internal fight as she figured out what to do. Letting out a deep sigh, she turned her head away from him and held it high, "Ava." she said strongly, "My name is Ava. Short for Avalon, but don't you dare call me that." she warned.
Her eyes returned to him and she pressed her palms into the sand, "You can't leave neverland. Not by choice. You gotta fly," she pointed up at the sky, "Second star to the right, on til morning." she sighed. "Flying isn't something a normal person can do, especially a grown human. You need to have all that imagination and freedom that children have." she explained. Pausing, she bit her lip and looked over at him, "Look, even if I wanted to help you -which I don't- I can't. I swim, land is foreign to me. Unless you can turn my flipper to legs, I can't help you with anything." she said, flopping her tail up before rolling her eyes.
