Zeffer's batons crackled and sparked as he spun them, illuminating the dark swamp clearing for brief moments before the electricity subsided again. Tonight was a special night; Akko had expressed interest in joining in on one of his sparring sessions, and he was excited for it. He had arrived early, as he often did, to make sure his arena was still intact, and clear of debris. When he was satisfied, he began to stretch himself out in preparation.
He had arranged to spar with Ephias and Etsali, two recruits he didn't know well, but hoped to eventually. A friendly fight would be the perfect way to kick off lifelong friendships, right? He snickered to himself as he continued to maneuver his weapons, waiting for the others to show up.

Byakko herself was lingering near the edge of the clearing, propped up on a fallen tree with her legs crossed meditatively. Kanabo in hand, she tediously wiped each individual iron spike with a rag, content to polish her weapon until the two recruits arrived. Free time was rare- she had to make every spare minute count. Every now and then she looked up from her work to throw a glance over at Zeffer and peer around the clearing for the others, before returning to hunch over the long spiked club resting in her lap. A tiny part of her hoped the two lowbloods were planning an ambush. Zeffer's efforts to train their forces was crucial, but as usual, she was more interested in seeing how they currently performed. They'd fought alongside one another before- but it had been far too hectic to really follow what had happened in the caverns, let alone who was taking a bashing from whom.
Content with her handiwork, Akko leaned her weapon against the rotting wood and slid off the trunk, stretching her arms above her head as she slunk over to Zeffer. "What time did you tell them to meet us here?"

"I told them to come after sunset." Zeffer smirked as Akko wandered over, reaching to jab her playfully in the ribs when she stretched her arms over her head. With his touch came the bzzt of a short static shock. He couldn't resist trying to startle her.
"Don't worry, if they don't come, we'll just have to go hunt them down." He laughed, and edged away, knowing she'd be pissy about being zapped.

"Stop that!" Akko let out a low hiss in warning that cracked in her throat and came out as an almost-whine; much to her dismay. A deep scowl contorted her face. She hated her personal bubble being invaded, and liked him using his new found powers on her even less. Especially in front of the other rebels (she was still hoping they were hiding in the treetops for the opportune moment to strike).
Slapping away Zeffer's buzzing hands, the mutantblood's took a couple brisk steps backwards out of his reach. "That's ******** inappropriate." What, was he trying to start something with her? Crossing her arms tightly over her chest, she wrinkled her nose and stared him down. Dear gog, please let them show up soon. Bored Zeffer was certainly the most annoying kind.

"Ahh, we're not late, are we?" Etsali cast an amused look from Zeffer to Byakko as she approached from the other side of the clearing. There was a cheerful enough air about her, a bit of bounce in her step that might have been excitement, but she wasn't totally relaxed either. Her knife pouch was snapped open already for quick access and it was easy enough to test the ground beneath her feet as she came. Pretty solid compared to a lot of the swamp, she could work with that.
She'd been sorely tempted to stage an ambush on the two of them, just to see how they'd take it. A knife thrown when they weren't expecting it, maybe, because if they wanted a test of battle readiness, that was something she knew the merit of. She'd decided against it simply because she didn't know enough about them yet to know that they wouldn't just think she was really out for their blood. Maybe next time, if there was a next time, she'd really keep them on their toes. For now, it would be good to feel out what was really expected.
"Sooo, how did we wanna do this? Just a free for all til we get tired? Pair off and tag team?" Stretching, she flashed Byakko a grin. "Or we could just wait a bit if you wanted to get him back first." She'd ruled out an ambush, but a little recon was just common sense, right?

Trailing a short distance behind Etsali with considerable less bounce was Ephias, shears jangling at his waist. As usual he looked exhausted, dark circles under his eyes, a pale complexion, and a somewhat bewildered but cross expression. He offered an unassuming appearance, with his hair tied back and his usual outfit exchanged for plainer, more practical attire. Even the shears at his side seemed harmless in comparison to the weapons his comrades carried. “Ahh, we're not late, are we?”“It's after sundown,” Ephias answered, as though that answered the question. While the blueblood had specified after sundown, he never specified how long after. To be late was impossible. Ephias stared down the two older trolls, cheerless. It was not an attempt to be cute; simply a statement of fact. As he and Etsali crossed the remaining distance to Zeffer and Byakko, Ephias studied the makeshift arena. The brush and debris had been deliberately cleared away to make a battlefield. Logs and tree branches stood piled off to the side. The ground, while firm, still had a little give to it. Any sudden movements could be dangerous. Good thing they did not plan on doing anything fast-paced. Oh, wait. Coming to a stop to the right side of Etsali, Ephias eyed the two trolls before him. The blueblood had all the charisma of an excited shark, while the mutantblood conveyed a more stoic nature. Neither seemed unusual. He had become acquainted with both—or at least well enough to know their names—during their efforts to build up Salamire, but aside from their most basic mannerisms knew little about them. The invitation for a sparring match had... come as a surprise. As Etsali greeted the two (in a manner of speaking), Ephias unhooked his shears from his belt.

Clearing her throat with a brisk cough, Byakko straightened and took a lone step forward to wordlessly greet the newer rebels. Small talk had never been a forte of hers. The other two had their weapons already drawn, and hers laid several paces behind her. The mutantblood hummed to herself. "I was under the assumption this was to be a tag team sparring match." Rolling her shoulders, Byakko began to crack her fingers against her palms. Tilting her head towards Etsali, the corners of her lips twitched in a phantom smile. There was a vindictive glint in her eye. "That's not a bad idea- but there's no need for you to wait."In one fluid motion, Byakko darted sideways towards Zeffer, kicking him straight in the a** as hard as she could muster towards the armed lowbloods. Then, she shot off like a rocket back to her kanabō. Byakko is targeting Zeffer 0 damage done HP: 20/20 Kamileunaireeeee just one little kick, baby
