She was a bundle of nerves today, and the Nixie didn't have a solid idea how to calm herself down. She had only been attending the Academy for a short amount of time now, and while anyone from her past had yet to run into her, she did put a considerable amount of effort into avoiding anyone with gills. "Almost there Zuri," she sighed, clutching the loan strap of her bag close. It was lunch time, and only after that she had two classes. That wasn't so bad, and her room was just beyond that.
As she gathered up her food from the line, she found herself a quiet corner to settle down into. She closed her eyes, willing in a breath before exhaling quite loudly. So much for being herself making her life totally easier, for here she was eating lunch by herself. Setting her bag aside, she picked up her fork and pushed around the contents of her meal on the plate. This reinvention had been an attempt to make new friends, but if she never found any, why was she so afraid about being called out about her persona by the other Nixie who had known her? Nothing had really changed.
Gracie Loff Let me know if you need something changed!

Ayden twitched nervously as he waited in line for food. It was a long day, and it didn't seem as if today's lunch menu was cheering him up any. He had so many things to do after classes, too. He had flowers to water, tests to study for, pets to feed, and a book to finish. Oh, that book seemed promising right about now. Much more promising than the food being plopped onto his plate. With a sigh, he trudged over to find a seat. His eyes widened as he noticed his usual spot was taken. "But.. but I.." He whimpered slightly. With a frown, he scanned the area for an open seat.. finding one next to a nixie. There didn't seem to be many other open seats, as lunch had been going on for a while now. She seemed harmless, but his general disdain for engaging in conversation with strangers was still a thing. Still, he needed to sit and eat... his anxiety be damned. He quietly walked up to the open seat, taking a deep breath. He could so this. The nixie couldn't possibly want to eat him, he would be fine. He quietly sat down across from her, his posture stiffened from anxiety. He didn't say anything, not out of rudeness, but more out of fear. He felt helpless. Panda Moor I hope this is ok. ;; -flails around-

Zuri was doing her best imitation of a statue, fork jabbed under her mound of mashed potatoes as she simply stared, lost some in thought. Her expression slowly turned into a frown, her hand stirring the slightest. Maybe she could join a club? There were plenty struggling to get going that only had a few members. She could maybe handle that. Except suddenly, she realized there was pink at the edge of her vision. Wait. Pink.
The Nixie's head sprung up, her dark lips falling open the slightest. "Oh," she settled on as a greeting, not very used to having people eating around her. However, it only took a moment for it to dawn on her that wasn't really polite. "Sorry," she settled on, moving her bag closer to her, even though it only occupied space on her side. She pulled her tray a little closer to her body, putting on a semi forced smile. Here she was making everything awkward. "Lunch is uh, where I decompress." Yeah, that was an excuse for zoning out like a stoned fish. She put her hands together in her lap, her eyes going to Ayden briefly before falling back to her tray.

Ayden trembled a bit, resisting the urge to hide under the table. He also considered just picking up a rather large book, and hiding behind that, but there was the possibility of getting food on it. He heard her speak, and he jumped a bit, zoned himself and finally paying attention. "I.. uh... hi. Hi!" He tried to smile, he really did. He took a closer look, watching her.. noticing she seemed about as out of it as he was, and noticing her push her bag closer to herself. He frowned, but realized he himself was doing the same thing out of a habit. "I.. I.. I s-swear I'm not trouble.: he sighed, his tail twitching frantically behind his chair. "And.. a-nd I can move if I'm a b-bother." He hated feeling this way, it wasn't an invisible feeling.. but more than he was a bother to people around him. He half wanted to go back to his dorm, and hide behind his small army of plants. Plants didn't give him social anxiety, and they smelled nice. Panda Moor I AM SO SORRY I FORGOT THIS EXISTED. ;_____; Pls dun hate me. .

Zuri tried not to look pained. She really did. Of course, of all people to stumble across her lunch spot, they had to be as awful in social situations as her. Mind flicking from thought to thought, the Nixie considered for a moment if she wanted to pretend to be outgoing - or not. This reinventing herself thing was awfully hard and floundering slightly, she reached for her fork, tapping it against the tray once.
"You're okay," Zuri informed after a very pregnant pause of holding her silverware and staring. A nervous smile flicked up over her dark lips before her eyes fell once more. "If I wanted to be all to myself, I probably should have picked a better spot than the cafeteria." Glancing away, the foreign native sucked in a breath. "No, you're good. I'm Zuri," she informed in a jumble, looking back to the boy. "You uh. You do you?" Smooth. Totally natural.
