{ Backdated to mid-March 2015--logged from G. Docs }

It had been… a while since he'd last been out with the intent to actually power up. Devlin didn't exactly feel nervous meandering around the alleyways, though to say he felt thrilled was perhaps a stretch. He just felt… neutral. Not that that was the worst, he figured, thumbs hooked in his jeans' belt loops as he took a few peeks down each alley he turned down or walked past, aware he was lacking that special other sense. Youma popped up here it felt like when he wasn't careful, and while he could certainly power up quick enough to save his own a**, he still wasn't entirely sure what they were or what the point was to fight them. They belonged to the Negaverse, and he was still… unsure, what their relationship was to his so-called court.

Not that he figured fighting one that got too close to himself or a target would exactly spark some secondary war. But it was an excuse to not… actually actively seek them out.

His brow furrowed a tad as he tried not to let other thoughts surge forward. Those particular blurry dreams that didn't quite feel like dreams. Where he'd spoken to a Negaverse agent, arranged an attack on two Knights, watched and waited as a civilian from the shadows as one was turned into another agent. They never have to condemn or forgive for acts they know nothing about…

Devlin picked up the pace, cussing softly into the empty air. The sounds of night traffic echoed from somewhere beyond the buildings he walked behind, sneakers barely making a sound over the pavement and grime.

He wasn't quite sure what made him look up.

Maybe it was a flash of color against the otherwise near monochrome surroundings. Or the considerably paler, damn near neon in the almost pitch dark from where he was down below, strike out of the corner of his eye. But he looked up. While, blue, pale. Devlin paused, squinting up to stare till he was sure it was a figure. One that… might be familiar.

It didn't take much for him to power up, Loke taking the easy and few leaps necessary to bring himself up to the rooftop opposite the other senshi. White Moon. Long blonde hair, blue and white uniform… he didn't know her name.

Loke also didn't give a single thought within those few seconds it took to power up and get up to the rooftop, how potentially bad it could be to more or less sneak up on another senshi.

After the events that took place during new years, Varuna was more cautious than normal when going out and powering up. She didn’t know what was in store for her and didn’t want to end up like the others had. It was bad enough that part of her family was involved.

She felt the aura immediately when the other powered up and she was suddenly on high alert. Whatever they wanted with her, they picked the wrong senshi that night. They were coming up from the alley, and soon they would be on the roof with her. There wasn’t enough time to escape or power down and pretend to be a normal civilian.

“Snow slip!” she called out, spinning around once she was sure the other would be within range, not giving them an opportunity to attack her or use their magic on her. She was only able to catch a glimpse of the other senshi before white washed over him.

Something was telling her she may have overreacted…

In fact, he did look rather familiar.

Varuna winced, knowing she was unable to stop the small avalanche of snow, but she followed the trail, hoping the senshi hadn’t been too close to the edge of the building…

Loke had very much been close to the edge of the building, as he'd only just gotten up to it. It hadn't exactly crossed his mind that she might whip around and attack him. Though really in the brief not even a second between when she called something out and a giant pile of white appeared beneath his feet a tiny speck of retrospect became crystal clear. <******** having a different aura.

"s**t wait--!" The words weren't even out of his mouth before the snow was moving, ripped out from under his feet and with it… he fell. Not onto his face, though his arms were thrown forward to catch himself on the edge of the building, grunting as his chest and arms were slammed against the roof. He was pretty sure he heard some nice crunches as his arms were folded back towards his torso at the impact in his automatic attempt to catch himself. He wasn't a Nega agent, he couldn't exactly teleport. His brain didn't really even function beyond a basic ******** ******** ******** no no no no no no ******** ******** ********. The icy substance certainly offered no padding and the brunet had the extra bonus of landing on his back in the alleyway as the wind was shoved out of him. <********," was the eventual cough out of semi sort of language as he got his wind back into him, blue eyes staring back up to the roof in minor shock. His arms weren't broken, he was happy to determine as he slowly lifted them. He hurt, but that he was able to sit up relatively quick was a good enough sign. Pulling one of his knees up, he rested his forehead on it and… laughed. Sort of. More of a string of awkward coughs. <******** if…. you didn't want company…. just say so." Senshi healed fast right? That was a thing? Slowly becoming more aware of the fact the snow under him was cold and very much wet, he picked a little up and tried to hold some against parts of his back, hoping to ice away the throbbing sensations he was starting to form.

Varuna’s heart dropped as she watched as the other senshi indeed went over the edge of the building, caused by her attack. She quickly followed, peering over the edge and hoping that he was at least still alive. She wasn’t trying to kill him! She was just rather jumpy recently. Who could really blame her?

When it seemed as though he wasn’t dead, just maybe injured, she allowed herself to let out a sigh of relief. It was then that she hesitated, unsure of what to do next. Should she leave while she knew she wouldn’t be followed, or should she make sure he wasn’t seriously hurt? Her instincts told her to leave him be. After all, one less senshi corrupted by chaos, the better.

And yet… she found herself cautiously making her way down the fire escape, jumping the last several feet and landing in the melting snow. She crouched in front of him, peering curiously at him on his level as he rested his forehead against his knee. He seemed like he was well enough. He could speak, which was a good thing. He didn’t look like he cracked his head open or broke his back.

His arms though… He didn’t even seem to notice that his arms had been cut up from the fall. Probably from the roof when he desperately tried not to fall off the edge. She inched slowly forward, almost animal like as she continued to crouch down. She scooped up a handful of snow before then reaching out to take hold of one of his arms to press against the cuts, and probably forming bruises. She didn’t bother looking at him, although she was obviously tense, waiting for the moment to use her magic once more if he tried anything.

The throbbing pain at his back had taken the majority of his attention, along with the jolting shock of having fallen from the roof in the first place. The cloth of his shirt was clinging to his skin, icy due to pressing the snow against it, but hey it felt good so he wasn't even going to consider the potential risk of getting sick from it. Worth it. He at least had the presence of mind to keep a minor focus on the mental radar, and about the only aura he sensed was… well. Her.

Her approach was slow. Loke actually would have missed it entirely if it wasn't for the White Moon aura, till she was there near him. His eyes opened and he peered at her silently when she took one of his arms. He winced slightly to feel the cold bite against… cuts? Snow began to take on a pink, then red tinge. He blinked, brain somewhat numb, and lifted his head a bit more to look at her. Pale on pale, white on blue on white on… jeeze. Yeah, he got it. Snow queen. Snow… butterfly? He didn't get it. He kind of got the idea that he looked like a damn pirate and his power was about treachery, so… snow and butterflies? He was missing something.

He could probably just blame the numbed skull though.

"Hell of a magic you've got," he finally got out. Still a bit winded, but normal enough for him to feel like he could keep going. "Didn't mean to freak you out. Was walkin' down below and saw ya up on the roof. Wasn't thinkin' 'bout how much of a dumbass idea it was." Was he happy to have been thrown off a roof? Hell no. Did he blame her? Nah. He got it. Chaos energy pops up, gotta do what you think is right. Least, that's the way it seemed.

"What's your name, anyways? I go by Loke like this."

Deep plum eyes flicked up towards the senshi’s face when he began speaking, still tense, still ready to attack if need be. She was surprised that her hands were as steady as they were, pressed against his arm, watching as the snow turned red from the cuts. She only felt a little guilty for his injuries. After all, it was his fault for suddenly approaching her without announcing himself.

That is, if he really had no intention of attacking her in return. She did remember his help from before when they were attacked by the Shadow Queen, or whatever it had been. He had every opportunity to kill or corrupt her then, and he didn’t.

He started speaking, explaining how he had the idea to approach her and how it was a dumb idea. He talked a lot. But that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. She used to be like that, years ago. She would be the last person to tell him, or anyone, to stop talking when it was innocent ramblings like this.

Of course, that didn’t mean she would respond immediately. Instead, she stared at him with the same wary expression, glancing away only long enough to release his arm, pick up a new pile of snow, and move on to his other.

“Varuna,” she replied when she had the snow pressed to his arm. It wasn’t in her nature to respond more than necessary… Part of her hoped he wouldn’t think she was uninterested, or ignoring him. She opened her mouth to try and say something else, but nothing she could think of seemed relevant or worth his time, so she shut her mouth again and went back to tending to his arms. Hopefully he realized she was sorry for hurting him.

Her lack of conversation didn't immensely bother him. His own blundering through words was grounding him, giving him a chance to recover. Her lack of commentary just gave him more room to blabber as he wished. Unless she told him to stop, then he'd probably shut up.

The bite of the cold against his cuts was helping the pain be numbed away, and he felt his throbbing head start to ease a little as he continued to sit. Yeah he wanted to bet senshi healed on the quicker side. Least he was pretty sure after his usual string of mishaps trying to figure out the extent to his powers. Yet it'd didn't keep him from being grateful she was willing to take the time to be a bit Florance Nightingale.

He repeated the name she gave silently, letting his mouth get used to forming it before a smile cracked across his lips. "Pretty name. Would have rather'd learn it under better circumstances, but hey. Beggars can't be choosers and all that." The aches and pains across his body were going to linger for a while, no question there. He flexed his other arm, bending it back and forth, turning it this way and that as he tested it again to make sure there wasn't a more serious injury going on. No extra pains. So hey, not bad.

"You're the senshi of… what? Snow? Blizzards? Avalanches?" He was tossing out anything he could think of that might have even slightly related to the predicament he'd found himself in. "Magic's useful. Do people usually fall off ledges or just get pummeled by snow?"

Varuna continued to study the young man as he spoke. He seemed to be close to her age. Although he might have aged poorly, or matured too quickly. It was difficult to tell with the magic, of course. It also appeared that he wasn’t as injured as she’d feared he’d been. Which was good.

Even so, it was… surprisingly nice to be able to sit and listen. His voice was soothing, although she couldn’t tell if he thought so or not, seeing as how he tended to ramble. Either way, the more he talked, the less she had to, which suited her just fine.

She was almost surprised when he guessed what she was the senshi of, although since he’d just fallen off a building, she supposed it probably wouldn’t be all that surprising to him.

“Avalanches,” she repeated, still eyeing him curiously. He was a strange person. First he’d helped her that time before and now he didn’t seem intent on attacking her or corrupting her. Luring her into a false sense of security? “Usually they die,” she added without any fluctuation in her voice, but after a few moments she clarified, “That was a joke.”

Still, since they were sharing, she thought it was okay for her to be curious about him. “What is your magic…?”

Loke actually smiled. A genuine, broad thing as he laughed. "s**t really? I got it right?" He was immensely amused by this, almost starting to forget his pains and mishaps as he chuckled. "I mean it fits but. Senshi magic is weird as ******** to me, so for all I know could have been super off, y'know?"

Her uh. Response though to what happened to her usual targets made him pause in his laughter, watching her with... amusement still, before bursting into more laughter with her... clarification. "Honestly? If you aim that s**t right? I wouldn't doubt how ******** lethal that could be. Negaverse must ******** hate having to fight you. Not that that's ever a bad thing, ha." His voice darkened a bit, seething quietly as he shook a mental fist towards the agents.

The jackasses that really gave Chaos a bad name.

Her own curiosity was warranted. He didn't hold that against her, but Loke sighed, wincing a bit. "Just... don't hit me, alright?" The youth held up his hands a bit in surrender and a show of being unarmed. Not entirely useful when dealing with magic but. "It's uh... well. I guess it goes along with the pirate-kinda garb. I'm... ah ********. Seriously don't hit me.

I'm the Senshi of Treachery."

He braced himself for a strike, or some explosion of accusations.

EDIT: 04.05.2019 -- given the passage of time, I've edited in a small wrap up to this Rp below here to be able to mark this as finished. Though another post was made after this one, I've chosen to not post again due to not feeling remotely comfortable pulling this Rp up to the front of the guild again.

The kiss had been the last sort of reaction he'd figured he'd get.

He'd watched his mouth, not wanting to do anything to ******** himself over. But hell had the guy blushed. Pretty girl just kisses you, what else do you do? He'd babbled a little, eventually got himself out of the snow. Eventually, he offered the areas he usually roamed in. Just... in case she felt like patrolling with someone else. Even if he wasn't White Moon, he didn't see the point in not offering the olive branch.

Somewhere in the back of his mind, after he bid his farewell, he'd wondered if he did have a reason to be nervous, saying what his sphere was. Maybe, maybe not. He didn't feel like a traitor.

But did traitors ever?

Varuna wasn’t sure what to make of his laughter. It startled her, but she supposed it wasn’t in a bad way, other than the fact that she could feel the heat rise in her cheeks when she realized just how much she was… enjoying wasn’t the right word. She appreciated his company, despite her mishap with knocking him off the building… with her attack… which she cast without thinking.

When he winced at her question, she wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. He obviously thought it would be bad if he requested for her to not hit him. Why would she hit him? Didn’t she already almost kill him?

And then he said it. Treachery. Varuna stared at him, not quite sure if she felt shock or if this was something she should have expected. Regardless, it wasn’t as though she got to choose her magic. But here he was, expecting her to hit him. Clearly he thought so poorly of her.

She frowned, her eyes narrowing slightly as she pushed herself up from where she knelt down in the quickly melting snow to move closer to him. Before he could have a chance to react or push her away, she took hold of his shoulder for support, and pressed her lips against his.

Somewhere along the line, she’d repressed her ability to express herself through words. This was the most efficient way of thanking him for not attacking her, and not thinking poorly of her for what she did to him. At least as far as she could tell. That he thought she would hit him hurt, but hopefully he could tell by her actions that she didn’t fault him for it.

The kiss didn’t last long, and when she pulled back, she pulled back completely, rising to her feet and taking a couple steps back. She continued to frown at him, although the flush in her cheeks had darkened.
