Al's alarm suddenly went off, causing him to grimace in his sleep before groaning audibly and slapping his phone repeatedly until he finally hit the popup. He rolled over, arms coiling around the warm body next to him. "Mmmm... you up?" He curiously poked him in the cheek with his nose. "Don't make me have to wake you if not..."

"Whaaatttt," Noah mumbled, and burrowed deeper into his pillow. "It's not morning yet even by my standards, why are you awake." He attempted to tug the covers closer around his shoulders.

"Today is special." Al answered vaguely.
Suddenly the assault turned to plan B, noisily attacking Noah's cheek with exaggerated and increasingly wet kisses. The onslaught easing up, only to be replaced with gentle teasing; "Get up you nerd." He smiled patiently but was very ready to switch to plan C should Noah fail to comply.

Noah flailed a little. "I'm up --- what do you mean special?" he demanded with some slight suspicion, and sat up, scrubbing the sleep out of his eyes with his knuckles. "Pancakes?" he asked hopefully.

"You'll see." Al did nothing to clarify the situation, instead leaning over Noah to steal a proper kiss and give him a hug under the covers. He broke the kiss with a huge smug grin. "Aha, I see now, you were after my pancakes all along weren't you?"

"Yeah, well, they're good pancakes." Noah grinned up at Al, his good humor restored by the kiss and the prospect of a good breakfast. "I like when you cook for me," he said, his voice both hopeful and affectionate.

As if Al had a choice now, apparently Noah was making demands and was keen to keep them. "Fiiiine, but I have a teeny tiny request firsst," Al's eyebrows began to waggle as he prowled across Noah predatorily.
"Yess... that was good," Al sighed with satisfaction as he pushed his plate away, the barest of crumbs from his chocolate chip pancakes remaining on the plate. He turned to Noah with an affectionate humming sound, "A good idea too."

"I always have good ideas," Noah said smugly, and ate the last bite of his own pancakes, then pushed the plate aside. He'd take the plates to the kitchen to wash them later. Having a hot plate in the room had its advantages and its disadvantages, but it allowed for breakfast if Al could be persuaded, which was a definite plus. He reached for the shirt he'd left draped across his desk chair. "So why's today special?"

Al leaned over to clunk his head into the side of Noah's, "have you looked at your schedule for the day?" He didn't even bother looking for his pants yet, even if they really should get something productive done today. Eventually. Maybe.

"Yeah, I don't have anything today." Noah turned a little to give Al a curious look. "Do you?" He paused. "Wait, do you actually have a day off on my day off?"

"Uh-huuuh~" He turned his head, rolling his head into Noah's a bit with it until they were forehead-to-forehead and grinned wolvishly. "You win!"

"What do I win? Do you wanna go somewhere, or, um. Man, that hasn't happened in like forever." Noah poked Al's side, smiling brightly, genuinely pleased about the happenstance.

A bit later, Noah stepped up to the portal, informing the technician, "New York City," because he'd only been there once, and he figured they could both get some stuff done and see some neat stuff while they were at it, and then he'd have good memories of hanging out together. He'd put on a long-sleeved shirt and a hoodie, and carried a backpack; he looked like any other college student on break. He grinned sideways at Al, a little nervously.
