Aim rp between Cornetified and I

A warm breeze swept past as the girl continued through the marketplace. Every so often the girl would pause to look at a stall, but at each stop she made certain to keep the indigo scarf tightly wrapped around her face. It was almost as if she were afraid to let it slip away as if there were something about her face that she wanted to hide. From the grace of her walk, however, it was hard to imagine her being someone ugly or injured.

Still it was a mystery to others why she slipped in and out of shadows like some convict. No one ever stopped her though as she made certain to quickly purchase her items before disappearing once more in the crowds. Today though Shadiya found herself wandering further than normal from the markets and more towards the borders of Matori and Oba.

The scent of the ocean after all was far more appealing than the taste of dry sand in her mouth.

Cornetified:

While relieved to have found this small town, he slunk through with his head down, glancing at the various stalls to see if he could afford any new supplies. He would probably have to do some work again to earn anything for spending. There was never anything left over for saving...

As he wandered through, his eyes caught a blessed sight. It was a sign... and it said he was nearing the border of Matori if he kept going east. At least, he was pretty sure that was what it said. He recognized "Matori" and "East", but the other words were unknown. He walked closer to the sign, as though that would cure his illiteracy, and squinted at the words, trying to see if he was reading it right~

She wasn't certain how far it was that she wandered today, but after a while the smell of the sea was bolder and her feet far more tired than they had been this morning. Should I keep wandering until I reach the end of the world? The teasing thought made her smile faintly. It seemed that she would never stop going forward at this rate. Anything to keep her back towards her old home was best after all.

The lands never seemed to realize perfect peace either. The thought of recent events made her heart heavy before she found herself pausing. Was someone nearby? Tightening the hold on her scarf to hide her face Shadiya leaned forward to look.

It wasn't an Oban thankfully, but rather a Matori boy who she found. Oddly enough it looked like he was staring down the sign, "You can't change what it says by staring it down like that." She teased lightly as she moved towards him. Really though what was so intriguing about an old sign?

Cornetified:

So intent on reading the sign, Dex didn't even notice the woman's approach. When the voice spoke up nearby, he looked up with surprise. A-a-an Oban! He straightened up to attention before remembering he didn't need to actually do that anymore... He slowly hunched back down and glanced over at the sign.

"I.. can only read some of it..." he murmured. "It.. it says Matori is to the east, right?"

Sabra Knight

Smiling at the reaction the girl nodded, "Yes, that's good enough." Looking around she frowned, "I suppose I'm closer to Matori than I thought then. I'm glad you pointed out this sign." A light laugh, gentle as bells escaped her as she twisted on her feet. She really had been wandering far then.

As she moved a wind ruffled the scarf from around her head and moved it loose. Too slow to react Shadiya let out a gasp as she attempted to grab it from the air. Already though her face was exposed and the rather elegant looking girl found herself looking at the Matori boy. Surely there was no harm in exposing her face here?

I'm so far away surely it won't matter. Still it didn't stop her from moving around him to reach down and grab the scarf from the ground.

Cornetified:

Dex looked back at the sign with a bright smile. He was getting close to Matori! "You're going to Matori?" The question came out without thinking, right as the wind sent the scarf his way. His eyes widened slightly when the woman's face was revealed. ...She sure was pretty....

Blushing almost instantly, he ducked his head and watched his feet as she walked by him. "If.. if it's not any trouble... do you know.. the quickest way to Matori.. from here?" Despite his travels, it was still awkward to ask for anything from an Oban.

Sabra Knight

Shadiya paused at the question and stared at him curiously, "Am I...going to Matori?" The way she touched her lips after repeating the question was thoughtful. What if she did go to Matori? Surely her uncle would never think to find her there, right? Noticing the boy's reaction she quickly wrapped the scarf back around her face, "I might just be going there, why?" She studied him quickly. He was from Matori obviously, but that didn't mean he lived there. Once she would have seen someone like him working around her home, but now with the war over things were different. While it was strange seeing the Matori living freely she was glad. Her father would have been happy to see it as well.

Perhaps he could help her to Matori then...at the idea her gaze gleamed, "If you are going there we could travel together perhaps?" Surely there was no danger from this boy. Her uncle would never send a "lowly" Matori after her. Still at his question she stumbled, "Wait you don't know where Matori is?" Shadiya had to raise and eyebrow before sighing, "I suppose we're both lost then."

Then again they did have the signs..."Let's just see where the path goes then?" She shrugged and tightened the scarf around her face one last time, "If you're alright with that. Either way I'm following the signs and the scent of the ocean is strong...it's not like the desert so I can already feel the difference." The breeze was wetter, cooler here and not stinging with hot sands. It was rather pleasant.

Cornetified:
The repeated question made Dex look at the woman curiously. She didn't even know where she was going? Wow. Maybe she was worse off than himself... Still, he nodded when he was asked the same. He nodded slightly. "Um, yeah.. I'm tryin' to get there."

His brow rose when she offered to travel together. She really didn't mind?! ...or was she just looking for someone to carry things for her, like most Obans? And then she reacted to his lack of knowing where his ancestry home was, and he ducked his head as his cheeks flooded with heat. "I was... born here... in Oba," he murmured softly, trying to be polite lest he anger her and earn a smack! "I.. It would be my honor to assist you if I may in your travels," he replied, tongue quickly reverting back to what had been expected of him for so many years.

Sabra Knight
Maybe she was better off traveling alone. Shadiya had to hold back her sigh. This is like the blind leading the blind. But surely how hard could it be? It wasn't like you could miss a large body of water surrounded by sand. Where the sands of Oba ended the lands of Matori began. Small as it was the tales she heard of it...well made her slightly jealous. Being stuck to an oasis was not the best life. Honestly all the other lands of Tendaji sounded like paradises to her.

"Oh." Her realization was like a smack in the face. That was right not everyone was born in their homeland. No with how Oba treated the Matori. Feeling a hint of remorse she bowed her head, "I understand then." She looked back up at the slip in his tone and held out a hand, "Stop. You can only walk with me if you behave yourself so none of that." She teased lightly before moving forward, "How about we both are honored by walking together?" She laughed softly, "If we're fortunate we may even tell each other our names by the time we get to Matori."

That said the girl sashayed her way forward.

Cornetified:
When she bowed her head, Dex paused to stare. It looked like she was apologizing... but that made no sense to him. She hadn't done anything to apologize for, had she?

Then he was further confused when she told him to behave. But, he had been behaving! What was she talking about? What had he done wrong? ....Maybe the sun had baked her a little too much. He was just short of turning to run from the confusing woman when she said the magic words. Honored to walk together? She... Did she not think less of him for not being Oban? The fact that she wasn't already ordering him around should have been proof enough of that, but it still amazed him.

Blushing warmly as he watched her sashay, he quickly hurried to catch up and rid his mind of such unusual thinking. "You.. really want to know my name?" he asked, still a little uncertain of the situation. "It's Dexurn."

Sabra Knight

Shadiya had to raise an eyebrow at the Matori. He truly seemed surprised that she wanted to have his name, "You know not all Obans think everyone else is dirt beneath their feet." Her family at least hadn't. Even with slaves her parents had been kind and generous. They only kept up with the practice as to be expected of their 'class' in life.

"But yes I would like knowing your name. Wouldn't it be awkward conversing and not knowing who to call?" Shadiya smiled faintly, "Dexurn..." She trailed off thoughtfully. Surely it was fine to trust him with her name right? They were so far from her home that she was beginning to feel safe, "I'm Shadiya. Shade if it's easier on you. Or whatever." She shrugged lightly, "I would prefer not to be called by my full name if that's alright with you." A nickname would keep her safer from any unwelcome ears.

"So do you have a place you're wanting to find in Matori?" She looked over her shoulder towards him, "Any hints of family or friends that came over from Oba?"

Cornetified:
Brow rising, he quickly shook his head and bowed it in return. "I'm sorry!" He quickly encouraged, hoping he hadn't upset her. She was being rather nice; upsetting her was the last thing he wanted to do!

"Shadiya? ...Shade?" Well, if she preferred to not be called by her full name... "Then I will call you Shade, if it pleases you."

When the question of Matori came up, he looked down at his feet. "I don't know where I would'a come from. Master bought me when I was still little. Don't remember anything of before." He looked back up, now with a little smile of hope and sadness on his face. "I had Auntie. Not aunt, but like aunt. She told me about her home. Sald. I wan'ta go find Sald."

Sabra Knight

"No worries." She smirked faintly, "Just keep it in mind okay?" The girl stretched her arms above her head as she walked, "It would be a shame to ruin the journey by having a stupid old barrier between us. It's gone now okay?" Honestly she felt like an outlaw herself more than any lady. Merchant's daughter or not her uncle probably had some warrant on her by now. The thought sent a shiver down her spine. If only she had realized the bad guy she had been living with years ago.

Shadiya shook her head, "It's not if it pleases me, it's if it's alright with you." The girl suddenly twisted on her heels to dance back towards the Matori, "Look here. I'm not some uptight noble. I'm just Shade okay? Just like I'll see you as just Dexurn." Her gaze gleamed teasingly beneath the scarf as she leaned in close, "Give it a few days and hopefully you'll be more at ease with me. Else this will be an awful trip for you."

Pulling back she fixed her scarf around her shoulders again before skipping ahead, "So we find Sald then. Sounds like a plan to me." It was a shame that the poor boy had been raised under the Oban rules. She didn't remember much of her family, but the few memories she held were precious to her. It must be terrible to not even remember your home.

Cornetified:
"I.. I will," he assured softly. It shouldn't be too hard to remember. After all, in his mind, his master had always been gracious and good! The Oban had only gotten upset when Dex had done something stupid! "No.. barriers." He really had no idea what that meant, but assumed something along the lines of being able to take her hand if he needed to; though, he had no idea why he'd need to do that, either.

Brow rising, he paused again to consider her words. He stiffened up slightly when she swept back over, blinking at her playful eyes. It wasn't until she backed away that he breathed again. "I'll like calling you Shade," he assured. It was odd, being given so much opinion wiggle room, but also quite nice.

Grinning happily, he hurried to catch up. She was going to help him get to Sald! "Thank you, Shade!"

Sabra Knight

The girl smiled at his willingness to go along with her. It truly was going to be nice to have company and even more refreshing that it was a Matori. Honestly, save for her parents Shade had often preferred the company of the Matori to the stiffly Obans. As a child she had often played and danced with her family's slaves while hiding from her mother's relatives.

Hearing Dex's thanks made Shadiya's heart jump. It had been a while since someone had thanked her with such happiness. Really compared to all the scorn she had received over the years it was touching. Biting her lip Shadiya nodded slowly before smiling, "Maybe I should be thanking you." The soft whisper floated on the air as she continued forward.

"Well let's go~! Probably should find a place to rest before sundown after all~" Forcing a laugh Shadiya twisted playfully on her heels before darting away. If all else failed she would definitely make certain to keep this journey alive and exciting for both of them.

Cornetified:

Dex felt like he was utterly out of his element. Talking to other non-Obans? Difficult, but possible. Talking to an Oban? Only when spoken to first. Talking with an Oban who saw him as an equal? ...It almost felt wrong. It certainly felt nice, but still so out of place.

He cocked his head slightly as Shade danced away before hurrying to catch up. He wasn't used to an Oban wandering alone looking so care-free and relaxed. Most, when in public, were uptight about one thing or another. Shade was very different than he was used to. ...Yes, it was a nice change.

"Where would my lady wish to- I mean- Where do you want to sleep, Shade?" It was going to be an adjustment.

Sabra Knight

Shadiya twisted one last time before hovering in mid-stride to glance back towards Dex, "Where should we sleep?" The faintest of blushes graced the girl's cheeks as the rest of her body touched the ground softly, "I.....honestly have no idea." Tapping her fingers against her lips the girl surveyed the area around them. Honestly she had never been to Matori before...would it be safer to sleep there?

"I think we should continue walking and then decide." She smiled towards Dex, "I'm not familiar with this area, but I think once we find a place that seems safe we could stop then. For now though I would like to be closer to the waters..." And far away from any Oban who could recognize her.

Cornetified:

Dex gave Shade a small nod. He could go for pretty much as long as he had to, quite used to being active most of the time. Shade, however, did not look accustomed to physical labor... He tried to remain optimistic though. After all, she'd offered to help him get to Matori! "Whatever you decide, then. I can sleep anywhere."

Sabra Knight
"Well don't wear yourself out on my account." Shadiya teased lightly as they continued down the path, "Leave it to me and we'll walk for days withotu rest." Gods knew that she had been doing that lately. While she had been in Oba the amount of time that she rested was slim. Every night for sleep turned into only a few moments of rest as shot naps became a habit. She didn't feel safe enough to sleep...not yet.

She just hoped Matori could offer her the peace she needed, "I guess we'll just come to a place eventually." Shifting her pack against her back the girl began walking briskly down the path. Each step took her farther away from the past that haunted her and closer to freedom. At least that was her hope.

Cornetified:
"I won't," he assured confidently. "I can walk as long as you need me to. ..Mostly." Well, he wasn't sure he could go too many days without resting, but he had gone a few days before without it. He followed after Shade, wondering at this turn of events with the strange woman.

He was encountering many on his journey. There were many roads and options to follow now that he was free of servitude, but, there was one more path he did have to take, and he was grateful for each person who helped him get a little bit closer every day.
