Liath sat on the ground under the shade of a tree, he was pondering life. Wondering what series of circumstances had he ended up here. This little lonely goblin, and such a dull ad dreary world. Also how he managed to be here specifically. How he had left the world above, the only world he had ever really known. How he had come to the Academy, thinking that it would be different here, but alas. He was a down as ever. It was quite lonely here, as it always was in new places he suspected. Not that he really knew, since he had never really been to any new places. This was his first, still he had expected more. That was life though, a series of random depressing events. He couldn’t be bothered with the thought that it would ever be any different. So there he sat, wrapped up in his own little grey world. The little goblin with a rain cloud always above his head. (I suck at starting sorry :C)

Gwen was walking around looking for other mutants when she saw a goblin sitting under a tree, Gwen had not met any of the daydreams yet, she wondered if the Goblin would hate her, for being a litch. Gwen wasn't sure if she cared if they did, Gwen was who she was and she was fine with that. She figured there was only way to find out more about the being before her. She went up to them and said "I am Gwen, I am a Litch. I am a scientist, what of you??" She asked curiously and bluntly.

Liath was torn out of his thought's by a voice close to him, it took a minute for his eye's to adjust back into focus. It was a Litch, he had never met a Litch before, he had never really met anyone before. "Hello Litch, Gwen you said?" He gave her a sleepy once over. "I am Liath, I am a goblin. I suppose if you are a scientist that would make me a doctor." He gave her a once over, she couldn't be a real scientist. At least he didn't think so, to be fair he hadn't spoken to many scientists to begin with. "What kind of science? Are you a tree huger? Or a familiar rights activist? Or what..." Liath could come off as a bit rude, often using cynical or demeaning tones of voice. Either way he was intreauged, by Gwen.

Gwen nodded "Yes I am Gwen and I am a litch." She paused said "Good perhaps we can work together Liath, maybe you could help me with my research when we grow older, I don't know if I want to take blood and tissue samples myself. I have started to study mutants among the nightmare kind. I want to figure out what they are, what caused them to be." Gwen said cheerfully excited about learning new things. Gwen wrinkled her nose "I do not hug trees, though I would look one over to figure out how it worked." Gwen wasn't bothered by Liath's tone. He didn't have to be perfect to help her with her research.

Liath pondered that thought, Mutant studies? "I've never met a mutant before. Why do you want to know? Do you want to cure them?" He cocked his head to the side. "I want to be a doctor to fix everyone, like me. My eyes are broken, I need to fix them." Then as if suddenly getting a bright idea he added "I know, when we are all grown up and have our important jobs and whatnot, I can help you with the doctor part of Mutant research, and you help me with the Science part of fixing things!" He supposed that it would at least make this acquaintanceship mutually beneficial.

Gwen nodded "I've only met one, and I want to meet more." She shook her head to his next question. "No I see no reason to change them, I just want to understand everything I can, why are you grey and I'm black and white?? Why is their an Above and Bellow?? Everything I can study I would like to know and understand." Gwen smiled and held out her hand. "It's a deal when we are big you can help me with my study and I'll help you with yours, in the mean time we should be like friends, so we stay close and don't lose track of each other. If you are intelligent enough perhaps you can be my boyfriend when we are older." Gwen said in a blunt tone, though she might have been making a joke, who could tell with Gwen.

Liath shrugged he didn't know what a mutant was, as far as he knew it was a disease like his eyes. " I would like to meet one, I think that it would be a good experience. We are all the same really though, I think it's what you'll come to learn, I mean that's what my mother always said. " He grew up not really questioning things, things were the way they were and it sucked most of the times but that's just how it was. Gwen on the other hand seemed to question everything. "I would like to consider you my friend, and maybe I will be able to help you along the way who knows?" At the boyfreind comment he put his claws up to his chin as if thinking. "Depends on whether or not we annoy each other I suppose." He often annoyed people quickly with his negativity and general "brattyness." "Well Gwen, what do you know?"

Gwen shrugged "I don't have a mother to ask, my care takers dropped me at the academy I don't think I will be seeing them again. I would like you to meet one too, I'm not sure if I will introduce you to the one I know yet, I am still trying to gain her trust myself." Gwen liked Liath's straight forward nature, and liked he had not shot down her proposal. She sat down and then said "Alright then what is your favorite thing besides the idea of being a doctor??"

Liath knew that the worlds were filled with orphans, so he didn't react to the not having a mother comment. "Ah yes, perhaps we will meet another, don't want to spook anyone after all." Watching he sit down he shrugged. "I like food a lot, but really who doesn't. I also like the rain, the way the light hits it and makes everything light. I miss how bright it was in the above. It's so much easier to differentiate objects in brighter light. I don't see "colors"" He put little quotation marks in the air with his claws when he said colors. "I like you though, black and white are so different it's easy to see you." He nodded. "I like history, I wish I knew more of it." He wasn't really sure what else to say, with Liath it always seemed to be a bigger list of things he didn't like, things to complain about, than things he did.

(Is there full color blindness?? I thought it was only like being unable to see blue/orange or red/green?? Looked it up I didn't know there was full color blindness O.O) Gwen nodded "Yes that is a good idea." Gwen thought as she listened to Liath speak. She blinked at the concept of bright after living her whole life in the Bellow, the concept of bright light sounded strange to her. "Why is there so much light and green in the above??" she asked curiously and then thought about the things she liked. "I don't really care about most food, it's what I need to stay in one piece." Gwen listened to him and then said "Don't feel bad about not seeing colors, as I get older I might not be able to feel almost anything. It's how litches are" She said calmly not unset my the idea. Gwen nodded "Thank you, I like my coloring and yours as well" Gwen nodded "I like history well enough, the beings of the past, help to move science forward." Then Gwen whispered "I like plushies, but don't tell anyone ok??"

Liath raised an eyebrow at Gwens questions, "Well it's so bright because the sun of course! It's this big ball of heat in the sky. It gives off a lot of light. It's... well I don't know why it's "green" I'm not really sure what exactly it is, but probably the same reason plants down here are "green" He had heard someone in his science class make that statement. Then pausing for a moment he realized. "You've never seen the sun have you?" That was a crazy thought to him, never living in the light, never experiencing the world above. "Not care about food!!" He didn't know how to react to that statement. Part of him wanted to shake her and tell her to wake up while the other part just felt sorry for her. "Plushies are nice and all, not really my thing. I prefer books. Plushies are kind of boring." He didn't see the functionality of plushies, sure he had one, but he really didn't see why.

Gwen shrugged "The sun isn't very bright here, so I don't really understand what you mean, I would then the sun painful to me if I went above." Gwen said in a plain serious tone. "I've sorta seen our sun, but it's never been a big deal to me, it provides enough light for us to live, nothing more." Gwen nodded "As a litch my senses aren't all that great, so food doesn't thrill me much, kinda like you can't see colors I guess." Gwen shrugged "To each their own, but I like books too, I love knew information, study, knowledge." Gwen thought a moment "I think you would make a useful and tolerable boyfriend" She said nodding calmly once more. "Even if you don't like plushies and I don't care about food."

Liath nodded, it would be a hard idea to understand bright, if you had only lived in dark your whole life. Just like it was hard for him to really understand colors when he had no real idea what they were. "I don't think it would be painful, it might take your eyes a little to adjust, but... you'd be alright?" He wasn't really sure that it was true. He had never met a nightmare in all of his time in the above. He supposed it could be possible they couldn't survive. "The sun provides life, that seems like kinda a big deal. You should see my book collection sometime!" He had a lot of books, most of which were probably above his reading level for now, but he still intended to fully understand them later in life. He started to understand how she felt about food, if she couldn't experience the greatness of it... it was like someone telling him to love art. "We do have our differences, but I could see the benefits of a smart girlfriend." he shrugged. Liath didn't really know what love was, nor did he know much of romance. However he did see the benefits of having a girlfriend. His manner of speaking was business like, if anyone else had heard their tones and not their words they might think the two were signing a contract and not talking about a prospective relationship.

Gwen nodded "Perhaps you are right." Gwen smiled at the idea of seeing Liath's book collection "I would like that very much, I enjoy learning everything I can." Gwen smiled "And I can see the benefit of keeping you in my life Liath." Gwen said in a polite tone. (Let's wrap up and start another later ^_^ maybe we can find a third person with a mutant character for them to study XD )

Liath nodded at Gwen, he never smiled so he didn't go that far, but appreciation showed on his face. "It was a lovely chat Gwen, we should definitely remain friends." Liath knew the conversation was ending for now and began to get up he had places to be after all.
