Liryn had woken up to find himself alone in the apartment with Lola.

He hadn't been sure at first, half remembering curling against Arian on the sofa after the two of them had come in from the latest round of hunting for Ida...

But then he had found the note propped up on the coffee table in Arian's slightly messy handwriting:

Gone out to try looking again.
Didn't want to wake you - but am on phone if you need me/ hear anything.

It hadn't taken long to read through the short message and he couldn't help but give annoyed huff when he was done - because when all was said and done Arian should have woken him up.

And perhaps he was a little tired, or p'raps just a little more than a little bit tired, but that didn't mean that he couldn't help the other search.

Two was so much better than one and besides it wasn't as if Arian, as if Athene wasn't just as tired.

"You should have woken me up" he said, although the one he wanted to tell seemed to have been long gone. "She's my friend - my team mate - too."

It didn't stop him from being annoyed though because there were times when Arian could be seriously stupid and by Liryn's book this was one of them.

And whilst the searching itself didn't annoy him - because it went without saying that they needed to find their missing team mater and friend as soon as they could - the going off to search alone did...

The leaving him behind did.

And truth be told, Liryn couldn't help but feel a little hurt - because his place, his duty was at the side of those important to him - because if he wasn't by their side then how was he supposed to protect them?

He jumped down off the sofa, padding past the bowl full of the dried kibble stuff that Lola was so fond off despite the stuff really and truly being an insult to any self-respecting feline. Then again perhaps it was down to the fact that Lola was a cat and not a mauvian and thus unaware of how much that stuff was an insult.

"You should have woken me up" he said repeating the words huffily as he padded towards the cat flap, because they deserved repeating. "And you should have taken me with you - we're both searching anyway so we should do it together."

A brush of warmth against his side had him pausing, head turning to the side slightly as his purplish eyes caught sight off the cat that he and Arian and Orah shared their space with.

"You're worried too" he said quietly, even though he knew that she wouldn't understand the words, figuring that the small calico cat didn't need to understand human to know that something was wrong. "But we're going to find her, Arian and I.. Athene and I - the two of us are going to find her."

Although that meant that the two of them were going to need more help.

Arian as Athene had messaged the rest of the team and the two of them had tried to talk about mutual acquaintances - to talk about people who they both knew who might know Ida too.

The apartment wasn't really the place though and nor was just outside, which was why Liryn found himself instead taking a trip over to HQ.

He pulled out his communicator and dictated his message before selecting from contacts those from the list that he and Athene had put together - Ganymede and Maia, Chariklo and Thraen and also Ash because whilst he wasn't sure how well the Burmilla knew Ida, Ash was good with information and like them and like Thraen had the Black Watch in common.

Hi All,
This is Liryn.
Sorry to message you out of the blue, but Athene and I are trying to find Ida. She went out on patrol but hasn't come back and she's not picking up her messages.
If any of you have heard anything then please let either Athene or myself know - even if it's just to say that she's gone to Ida.


For a moment he contemplated adding in that he and Athene just needed to know that Ida was safe, but then he thought better of it and erased the line.

He hit send on the message before slipping the communicator back into his subspace pocket.

It was time to go - time to head back on the search trail - and doing that meant tracking down and teaming up with a certain idiot raven-haired eternal.
