The hissing and the shaking of his makeshift pack was ignored as he stumbled into the settlement. The glares and gasps around him were but a distant sound, and all he could do was look around with wild eyes for a long moment in effort to get his bearings. The pain in his hand was throbbing, and he felt sick to his stomach. Already, he had retched outside of the settlement, and he felt like he might do it again. His brow was sweaty, his eyes dilated, and he was sure to look the sight.
In fact, many children seemed to jump and run in fear at the sight of him. The adults were a mix of fear and anger, but most avoided him as well. As he stumbled into the opening, Nuri realized he was in a market, and that this was his ticket.
Someone had to have some sort of medicine.
"Please...please help me..." He weakly cried out, stumbling toward a cart before the owner let out a scream and pushed her children away. Nuri let out a groan as he continued, getting similar results. In his haze, he really had no idea what he could do. After awhile, Nuri eventually stumbled to the well in the center of the settlement, glancing around at all the eyes of those who refused to help him.
"...Please...I've been bit..."

Vaena shifted her jug to her hip, huffing impatiently. She hated waiting at the well, and in Ilidan the crowd was too much for Vaena. Everyone was at the market, everyone was hawking their wares, and everyone was waiting for water.
She pursed her lips and did her best to stop her foot from tapping on the floor, showing her total impatience for the situation. She scooted closer in line, inching her way to finally being done and able to go home, when a commotion came from the forest behind her. She turned to see what all the fuss was about and her eyes widened before she stepped back and almost into the person ahead of her in line.
Some... some outsider was in Ilidan. She lifted her jug closer to her defensively. The man was too red, too bright, his clothes were gaudy and glittering with gold embroidery. He nearly tumbled into a cart and the people around her were screaming, yelling, and running out of the way. Vaena just hugged her jug and leaned against the well wall, hoping he would just have the good sense to leave. He coughed out some phrase over and over again. Vaena strained her ears to hear, but he was too far away.
He staggered closer to the well and before she knew it he was flopped against its wall, babbling about being bit, and all too close to Vaena for her liking.
Those around her had fled, and she was almost the only one within a hundred foot radius of the outsider. Her brows furrowed. He was intruding.

Nuri had dropped his bitten hand near the well, where the water was dripping from a discarded pail. To his side, the hissing and rattling stood out, and he took a long moment to consider what was going on. His brain was still fuzzy, but he finally was able to make out the fact that the one bustling market was now empty. His head swiveled for a long moment before he caught sight of Vaena, the only one left.
"Medicine...I need medicine..." His voice cracked as he looked up at the woman, taking little notice of her hair, skin or eyes. She looked a bit blurry anyway, so what was he to do in terms of watch her. His focus was on taking care of his hand, and maybe getting a drink. Letting his head and body loll back to the bucket, he used his good hand to cup some water and bring it to his mouth. Most of it simply ran down his chin instead.

By the time Vaena had realized that she was the only one left in the market, the stranger in front of her also seemed to figure it out. His eyes unfocused and drowsy looking.
She heard the hissing and rattling from the bag, her ears perking at the sound, and then his request for medicine. So the idiot had went ahead and gotten himself bit. She knew it had to have been the keldari. She hesitated. She didn't know this man. How was she to know it wasn't an act? How was she to know that he wasn't just playing her and trying to do her harm? He was inherent evil after all. And Vaena wasn't one of those fools who cried in the corner when something scary came along.
She leaned over, getting closer to the strange earthling, now scooping water into his mouth before abruptly taking her hand and putting it against his forehead. Hmmm hot with fever. She pursed her lips and used a finger to widen one of his eyes. Dilated, hazy; she moved his head side to side. He was telling the truth. "Yes you do." She answered him, nodding her head.
She stood and retreated a few steps. "You'll get none from me. I can't help you." She curtly answered him. Even though he was telling the truth she didn't know him from a hole in the ground. He could find his own help.
Elyessi I hope you don't mind her being a little rude at first XD

For a long moment, Nuri seemed to space out, but finally he was able to get his focus away from the wound on his arm and to his surroundings. This was the first time in a long time that he was so unaware. Normally, he was quite focused, able to observe himself and his situation. Now, however, his brain felt sluggish and he really didn't want to get back up from where he sat on the ground. It was so much easier to sit than try and stumble to get help.
As the woman spoke, Nuri nearly startled. He had almost forgotten she was there, which was quite troublesome. He needed to get this taken care of.
He hadn't even realized she was touching his forehead until she pulled away and took a few steps back. As she spoke, he groaned.
"Please...we don't have any..." he was all but whining, and he looked up at her with squinted eyes. Was she moving back some more, or was it his eyes wavering, "At least tell me where to go..."

Vaena jerked back at the mention of 'we'. Who was we, and how many of them were there? Vaena didn't know what kind of trap would involve getting oneself intentionally poisoned just to trick people, but she knew nothing of the kind of lows the outsiders would stoop to.
Vaena turned her head back and forth rapidly, trying to scan the forest line. Was she being watched right now? She narrowed her eyes on the stranger in front of her, still begging for medicine, or at least an inkling as to where he could find some. Did she dare believe him? She felt her temper flare up at the idea of what would happen if it were a trap.
But with time ticking away she knew that he was running out of it. Even if it was a trap, he was still slowly dying in front of her. Great. Her sense of morals kicked in, evil or not, she can't be responsible for his death. "You have to go that way." She pointed to the direction of the apothecary. She watched him with cautious eyes. She had done her part, now would he leave?

Nuri groaned and tried to move to a stand, but as soon as he got to his knees his body gave out. It seemed his fever was weakening him, and he had walked too far without the proper treatment. He was fighting hard to deal with the poison, but he just couldn't get himself enough strength to acomplish what needed to be done. As he fell he rolled over and looked back up at the girl with glowing eyes.
His mind thought those eyes would be pretty if they glowed blue, like Aseara's.
"...Could you call for Naraka...or my camp? They might be close...a few miles out...they'll come..."

Vaena watched as the strange boy in front of him attempted to get up... before pathetically falling back to the ground. She could already tell that this wasn't going to be as easy as she had thought to get him out of here and away from her. She put her hands on her hips, watching as he rolled over, flopping around like a fish.
When he mentioned others again it put her on the alert. So there were more of him. She groaned and put a hand over her face. She couldn't possibly call for others to come here, to her village. She needed him and anyone else like him gone. She shook her head to the man on the ground. Not that she could even tell if he knew she was shaking. For all she knew he could be seeing three of her. "I will do no such thing."
She bent over and assessed the condition of him. He wasn't doing good, and she couldn't really stall much longer. "Fine." She huffed. She winced at what she was planning to do next, but knew that it was the only way to get him out of here without an incident... "I'll... I'll help you up." She resigned herself to her fate and waited for him to grab a hold of her.

He was helpless like a newborn as he lay there, wallowing in his pain and self-pity at the fact he was able to do minimal movements. The fuzzy view didn't give him much to see, but he did focus back on the glowing eyes above him that stood out in the cloudy sky. Her eyes looked like the sun behind the clouds, and he couldn't help but look at them from below.
When she bent closer, his hand shifted as if to touch the glowing eyes, but he instead groaned. Her words didn't register, but his fingers did move to clamp up and touch her cool skin, a beautiful feeling against his own.
"...Thank you...thank you..."

Vaena watched as the hand came closer to her face and was ready to bolt. She wasn't sure what he was up to, but she was positive she wouldn't like it. When the hand went limp and then clamped onto her arm she relaxed and heaved a frustrated sigh. He was practically delusional. This really couldn't be some evil scheme.
With another huff she tried to pull his weight up, but she would definitely need his help to actually get him the rest of the way there. "C'mon. You need to at least do part of the work." She huffed through a clenched jaw. She knew that he was poisoned and was sick, but gods there needed to be at least a little bit of strength left in him. That or she would need to look into borrowing a cart before this would be over.

Somehow, he was able to get enough focus to hold part of himself up, using her more to stable his balance than anything else. Standing up seemed to wake him slightly, and his eyes glanced about as he tried to get his bearings. This was just a huge mess, and the throbbing still was strong on his hand.
When he was finally stable, enough where he didn't think he was leaning all of his weight on the Yaeli to his side, Nuri took a look at her hair and ears. It was interesting to see them so droopy, and it was a nice distraction from the pain.
"...I can move..." he added, feeling like he needed to push it otherwise she might drop him where he was standing.

Vaena held the outsider up as he adjusted his weight and once he was finally stable, she nodded. "Alright then, come on now." She tried to urge him forward. The faster he was given medicine the faster he would leave and she could go back to her life. She still didn't appreciate the fact that everybody in the square seemed to have vanished. Why did it have to be her job to help him out?
She sighed inwardly and tried to continue the pace forward. He was slow, but they were already halfway there. "We just need to get to that side of the market." She nodded her head in the direction of the healer in the area. He had to be able to sell her something for the bite, and she was sure that he would have whatever it was in stock. Keldari were common enough.

As she all but dragged him along, Nuri felt himself getting a bit more clear in his head. Maybe laying on the ground was a large part of the issue, because he could see clearer and his hand was the only place that throbbed at that moment. He was stumbling, but the foundation of the Yaeli beside him was enough to assist him through the camp. Everything was silent, but he saw the eyes glow in the homes much like the eyes of creatures glowed in the night.
It made him feel hunted, and very much unwelcome.
Swallowing, he let out a garbled sound of affirmation before turning his head slightly. He wobbled, but kept his ground as tried to not stare.
"Your eyes really do glow like the moon..." His tongue was loose, and there was little filter between his brain and his mouth, "Must be hard to hide in the dark with those eyes..."

Vaena scoffed at the outsider's remark. Not only was it without manners, but it was absolutely obvious. "If it weren't for your lot we wouldn't need to think about hiding in the dark." She shot out. Ever since the arrival of the main landers she saw the way the others in the village had changed. They were skittish and constantly fretting. The big bad strangers were coming to invade their lands and steal their babies and wreck their properties.
Things were a lot simpler without them coming along. Whatever had made them come to Yael should reverse itself and move them right back out again.
She returned her thoughts to the man holding onto her. "Your eyes are red like blood; it must make it hard for others to think you're not evil." She tossed out.

Well she was just being a bit grumpy, now wasn't she? Nuri took a long moment to consider before shrugging. This wasn't the first grumpy person he's interacted with, in fact his entire family seemed quite grumpy now that he thought about it. To interact with another grumpy person was nothing new to him, and she wasn't that grumpy if she was helping him, a complete stranger.
"Evil? I'm not evil...I'm here learning about the creatures of the land so if any make it over the sea they wont be hunted, hurt, or taken advantage of..." He nodded once, "That's my job, to study and to learn how to pr-properly care for new and unusual creatures...and you've got a lot of unusual creatures..."
