 If Alto was truthful to himself, he would have to admit he kind of liked school. The classrooms were interesting and he got to meet all sorts of different people. He was a people person; he liked interacting with others and getting to know them. He hadn’t made any real lasting connections with anyone yet, but that was okay he had his twin and that was enough of a close friendship. For the moment people around him were friendly and he could always join people to play with. Of course, he wasn’t all cheer and people all the time either. He liked the off days like today just as well. It was time where he could lounge in his room and just spend time with his twin. Well normally… Today he was sitting outside, having been effectively kicked out of his room. Cirro had mentioned something about his music being too loud and trying to catch up on homework. Well it was his little brother’s fault for waiting until the last second to get it started anyways. Still good grades were important so Alto had reluctantly left the sanctuary of his room. The only problem was he didn’t have any plans for the day, and one could only sit on this bench for so long and people watch. Even if he was a little kid, he noticed eventually you got huffy adults or weird looks. Normally he would try swimming but the water was on the cold side due to being winter. Only nixie from up way north seemed to want to dare the poor this time of year. Well he had always noticed that if you sat there sometimes something interesting would happen. He just hoped that it happened soon.

The new world he'd been allowed to now be apart of was so full of wonder and stimulus that made each day as exciting as the last! Even the smallest of things that most might consider normal were absolutely fascinating to the little Nixie. From the customs, classrooms, habits, to the actual Nightmares that walked the school grounds! So much to see, so much to do... it was exhilarating!
But right now, he was taking his free time to explore more of the outdoors of the school's territory. Humming a cheerful little tune, tail swishing gently behind him, his bright golden eyes flickered around to the towering trees, and neatly placed shrubs that were his height, pausing every once in awhile to admire some of the flowers that sustained during the colder months. Giving some words of encouragement and praise to them, he would continue on, smiling brightly to those that passed his way, whether they acknowledged him or not.
As he was wandering about, getting better acquainted with the place, he was quick to spy a lone Freshling sitting on a rest spot. Perking up, he stared for a moment, blinking around to see if anyone else might be about. Were... they alone? Instantly, upon realizing as such, he toddled on over without hesitation, all smiles, the hearts on his cheeks raising with his bunched cheeks, "Hello there~!" he chirped happily, "You aren't sitting all alone, are you?" surely someone else must be around keeping this one company.

Alto blew on his hands to warm them up. Luckily he was used to cold winters and he came with fur unlike some of the other nightmare races. Still he probably should have tried to cover up a bit more. Of course he was brought out of his thoughts moments later when a voice caught his attention. Ah it was one of their new nixie students. He had seen them around the campus but he hadn’t recalled if he had talked to any yet. Actually now that Alto thought about it, all the nixie he seemed to have meet so far where darker cooler colors. It was definitely not the case for this kid. They screamed friendly from their markings to their general color scheme. Alto wondered if it was tiring to always look bright and cute. Then again the kid could have been the type to just go with the flow. Besides he had been asked a question hadn’t he and it would be rude to keep them waiting after all.
“Hello there yourself. It’s a beautiful day isn’t it?” he beamed. They seemed pretty friendly which was awesome. Alto could handle grumpy people but it was always nice to converse with others that seemed to like talking to him at any rate. “Ah yes unfortunately I am here all alone” he could have added he got kicked out of his room but really that wasn’t first conversation material. At least it wasn’t to Alto’s eyes. Besides this was the first person that had come over to talk to him.

"Yes! It is!" he happily replied, looking around them with a look of wonder and awe. The chill was actually a bit exhilarating, making the blood pump faster to keep warm, making the Nixie perhaps a little antsy feeling. But it was so pretty, the way the world was like in such colder times of the year. Golden eyes widened significantly with the confirmation of the lone nightmare's status, making Ebi shake his head while worry contorted faintly on his face, "Oh no~"
Again, without asking or taking need to fully think through the situation, he helped himself to climbing up onto the bench and scooting up next to the stranger, smile all alight, "I'll keep you company, then! No one should be alone." he assured, tail curling around his side when it got stuck between the backing of the bench and his body. He leaned forward a little to peek at the others face better, "What's your name? I can help you find your friends, if you'd like." surely that was it. His friends just got lost coming to meet him! That was the most reasonable explanation. After all the school was enormous! Ebi himself often got lost in it.

Alto made a happy smile back, happiness was always rather infections with him and he knew that he often tended to mirror the emotions around him, especially if they were happy ones. He hadn’t lied either it was his favorite type of weather, and during his favorite season. Oh he hadn’t meant to worry his companion. He hated making people worry, and he really was fine alone, even if he did like company more. Alto did have to blink as he suddenly had a bench partner but unless he was utterly mad he wasn’t really one for personal space, probably why Cirro often booted him out of the room whenever his brother needed to study. “My name? Ah how silly of me, you should always give your name during a friendly conversation. I’m Alto. I guess I’m kind of new at the school so I don’t really have friends yet, well other than my twin but he kicked me out due to last minute studying. Thank you you for the offer of company”

Little legs swung lightly as he sat on the bench, fully focused on the other freshling he'd found. Alto! He repeated it himself, to test it out, before smiling brighter, "That's a pretty name! I like it! I'm Ebi, but you can also call me Shrimpy if you want." he chimed blissfully. Though his expression shifted to one of surprise with the further information provided, "I'm new, too." his head tipped in thought, looking to the sky, "I don't have many friends either, but others always seem to be up for talking, and becoming friends." he assured, perking right back up.
Looking back at the large academy, as if searching for the room that Alto could have been pushed out of, he slowly looked back to him, "Oh that's not very nice." concern returned to his voice and brows, a hand gently reaching to place onto Alto's arm, "Will you be ok? When will you be allowed back in?" hopefully it wasn't for too long. And hopefully the two weren't fighting! Being an only child, he didn't know all that much about the conflicts that siblings could have.

Why would someone call someone shrimpy? Were they trying to make fun of him, Ebi didn’t seem that short but then maybe it was after the animal? Ah well Ebi didn’t seem to mind it and hey sometimes you couldn’t do anything about nicknames although Alto did admit the only thing his name often got shortened to was Al if people where rather lazy. He didn’t mind too much though. “Pleased to meet you there Ebi” he beamed. “Yeah this school is really friendly. It’s a nice change, I hope one day I’ll have tons of friends but I have a lot of time to make them too”Alto blinked as Ebi seemed to be really concerned that Cirro had thrown him out for good. It was kind of nice having someone else worry. Ebi had to be one of those really really good guys you heard about in stories. “Oh no I’ll be okay I swear. Cirro should allow me back in soon. He really does need to study and it shouldn’t take him more than the next two hours. We’re always together… always. So it’s nice to have some time away from each other too. Then after all we can’t get bored of each other.”
