Name: Reynard Abney
Nickname: Rey, Fox
Age: 18
Birthday: July 25th
Sign: Leo
Gemstone: Peridot
Blood Type: A+
Fav. Food: Fish, because he has a vendetta against them after an unpleasant experience out at sea with his Grandfather. Doesn't matter what kind, he'll eat it and take revenge.
Hated Food: There's not much that he really despises, although he's not overly fond of coconut or bananas.
School: Sovereign Heights Prep
Hobbies:Dancing in the Sheets - To Reynard, charming the ladies and enjoying intimate encounters with them in a primary hobby. While these flings are mostly casual and brief, he isn't a heartbreaker. He considers the time he spends with every woman valuable, and will often form friends with benefits with many of the young women he charms. While he's not against forming a more romantic-oriented relationship should the right woman come along, for now he is far more interested in loving briefly but intensely, and celebrating stolen moments behind closed doors.
Parkour - Even a scholar and a playboy needs exercise, doubly so if he wants to keep a physique that will play to his second hobby. To that end, Rey spends many an afternoon running parkour, and has several different routes throughout the city that he runs regularly, always ready and willing to change things up as he goes.
Music - While he refuses to study it as a career, Reynard is a somewhat talented musician, who plays more for his own pleasure than anything else. His instrument of choice is a transverse ocarina, and while you'll never catch him performing in front of an audience, if he's alone or needs to relax, or otherwise unwind or vent emotios that he doesn't quite know how to put into words, he will do so by playing music.
Virtues: Charming - Picking up a companion for the evening (or the weekend) is not difficult at all for Reynard, and this is mostly due to his natural charm and charisma. When combined with his ability to think on the fly, it's rare to see him stumble in a social situation - he usually tends to know the right thing to say at the right time to sweep a young lady off her feet. This charm is not limited to when Rey is out to woo someone, however; it comes to him naturally and in all but the most discomfiting situations. Even during those times when he is embarrassed enough to temporarily lose this charismatic charm of his, he is usually quick to recover himself and pick up where he left off before the embarrassment occured.
Quick-Witted - A necessary skill (along with quick reaction times) for one who regularly practices parkour, Reynard can think on his feet and come to a viable solution to a problem often before others have even noticed there's a problem that needs dealt with. This quick wit extends to being able to come up with verbal responses in conversations, physical planning when running parkour, and (fortunately for him!) usually being able to work out an answer when being called on in class. The one downside to his quick wits are that he is sometimes too willing to move forward on guesswork alone, but as long as it pays off he sees no reason to stop!
Brave - Reynard isn't foolish. He knows there are dangerous things in this world; he knows how easily life and health both can slip away. However, he sees no reason to use this as an excuse to sit on the sidelines of life; rather, danger and the fleeting nature of life itself gives him cause to go forward and do the things which he might otherwise be too scared to do. To that end, Rey does not let his fear control him - even if a situation makes him uncomfortable, he will press forward rather than back down. He will stand his grgound against an angry boyfriend, a disapproving professor, or that weird monster with golf clubs growing out of its head, as long as he believes there is a reason to stand.
If not?
Again, he isn't a fool. And the bravest of souls know both when to stand and when to retreat.
Flaws: Self-Critical - It's often said that you are your own worst critic, and in Reynard's case, that is absolutely true. He can be so hard on himself that it crosses over into self-cruelty; nothing he does is ever good enough; he's not strong enough or smart enough to stand up to his own exacting self-standards. Now, he isn't exactly
open about this flaw, and in fact actively hides it to the best of his ability - but if you get to know him and spend enough time around him it eventually becomes apparent, as he has a tendency to think (and berate himself) out loud. While it can be argued that it's a good thing to not have a big head, this overly-harsh vie Reynard takes of everything he does is far from healthy or endearing. In fact, it can be downright aggravating! (But don't tell him that, or he'll simply add it to the mental list he keeps of his flaws).
Overprotective - A the elder twin brother to
Cherish Abney, Reynard sees himself as her protector and something of another guardian for her. While this is acceptable in theory, in practice he takes it to an obnoxious level, trying to keep her out of danger and in sight as often as possible. (To say he isn't thrilled with her choice to go to the police academy is an understatement). This overprotectiveness isn't just limited to his sister, however - anyone he finds himself caring for will soon find themselves under his self-appointed protection, and he will do his best to keep them safe and out of harm's way whether his help is wanted or not! Count on him to be there when there's even the slightest hint of trouble, or to screen that person you're interested in to be sure they're
really safe and suitable for you to be courting.
Self-burdened - In addition to his overprotective nature, Rey is also overly
responsible. He's quick to assume both responsibility and blame when there is none, and quicker to make himself at fault for any given situation. If he's giving a ride to a friend and they end up late because the car breaks down, it's
surely his fault because he didn't check the oil soon enough. Missed appointments, small injuries, bad grades on group projects... Reynard can and will assume the blame for all of them, because surely,
surely he could have done something. In a contrast but accordance with this theme, he is also quick to take credit for when things go right, and will often be caught feeding his own ego when someone does something good that he can even tangentially take credit for. However, this rings as far less sincere than his habit of self-blame, if only because thanks to his self-critical trait, Reynard's failures will always outweigh his successes.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Wide, slightly oval eyes that are a dark gold-brown in color, similar to his sister's but several shades darker.
Hair: Very pale ash blond hair, that in some lighting can look nearly white. He keeps it in a tail that reaches to his mid-back, although the hair around his face falls in short, choppy layers that fall more or less to his chin. Speaking of his chin, he has just a little peach fuzz that graces it, though it doesn't extend past the edges of his mouth on either side.
Face: Reynard's face is mostly oval, with full lips and no freckles to speak of. His skin is slightly tanned, of the sort gotten from spending a lot of time out in the sun rather than a naturally darker tone.
Clothes: A shirt similar to
this, only in black with a white pocket kitten, instead. Reynard also tends to like wearing skinny jeans, often - and oddly - paired with leather sandals.
