Her breath came out in misty puffs that swirled through the air and made the holiday lights around her glisten and shimmer in her vision. The longest night of the year was making a fast approach as the shortest day of the year came to its chilly end. Cassie shivered a little under her heavy coat, pulling her scarf closer around her as her flat boots picked up their pace against the pavement.
Her goal for the night was simple: try to finish her Christmas shopping for her family. She had cousins she still needed to buy for, and still thankfully had time to wrap everything before the big family holiday.... provided she could finish her shopping list that night.
As she kept pausing, kept getting distracted by the various lights wrapping around trees, blinking and moving in time with the music emanating from some of the stores' outside speakers, she had to admit... the idea of actually getting anything done that night that didn't include just buying a hot chocolate and curling up to watch the lights seemed... almost impossible.
Chuckling a bit at herself beneath her scarf, she tried to press onward. Went over in her head a few times what she wanted to get--in theory, if she could find them--for which person. Who she'd already bought for, and what...
Her thoughts were... scattered though, amber eyes drawn towards what sounded like a scuffle in an alley near her. Recalling her... last encounter with someone in an alley, she sped up, holding her coat close as she leaned to get a peek. Was it him again? The sunset boy? Their conversation drifted through her mind as she leaned around the corner, brows knit. "H-hello? Is everything alright?"
And if it wasn't? Well. She did have her cellphone in her other hand. It wouldn't be difficult to make a scene and get help if anyone was taking advantage of the holiday cheer.
