With the recently discovered Yaeli, the land of Tendaji has been abuzz with talk and gossip about their new neighbors. They're odd, they're strange and skittish, their eyes glow - but that can't possibly be true most say - the word on the street is that they're starting to leave their island. Those that had met the Yaeli know that it's an odd thing to hear. They were terrified of the outsiders, why would they leave their safe villages...

Rumors are filling the toxic island where the Alkidikes extremists were banished along with the Matron. Rumors of monsters clawing their way out of the earth with oil black skin and glowing evil eyes that are even weirder than the strange monsters that landed upon their shores just one year ago. The Yaeli say that their gaze can steal the soul of any person dumb enough to get too close and they're vicious beings trying to take their children.

These rumors have reached the main land as well, mostly through the few Yaeli that have decided they would rather face the scary but similar earthling races than to have to find out what the terrifying monsters want with them and their land.

Is there any truth to these rumors or are the Yaelians seeing things?

The rumors had spread as far as Jauhar, even though Briella herself hadn't even seen a Yaelian. She knew there were some that came over in the past year, which surprised her greatly, but she hadn't been able to see one yet. She knew what they looked like because of things she had been told but she hadn't seen one. She did know that they were skittish and very superstitious, so really in her mind that had to be what all this talk was about. There was no way that there were monsters clawing their way out of the earth. That just didn't happen, unless they were some sort of digging creature. Even then the chance of a new creature that the Yaelians hadn't seen before was strange. They had lived there many years, it was very unlikely that there was a creature that no one had ever seen before.

She was currently walking in the marketplace, she needed new furs for her bed, and all she could hear was talk of this monster that no one had ever seen. From what she heard not even the Yaelians had been able to get a good looking at the creature. She rolled her eyes as she looked through the furs, the stall owner being the one that seemed to know the most about the beasts. She claimed that her soon had been on the ship that left the extremists and that he had seen one of the creatures as he was leaving. If Briella was to take her word for truth then the monstrous creature had black evil eyes that stared into your soul. The stall owner insisted that one had tried to board the ship and it seemed like the creatures wanted off the island so they could terrorize the other races. At this she couldn't help but laugh, earning her the attention of the stall owner and the people that she was gossiping with.

Briella looked up and after a few minutes of silence decided to speak. "I'm sorry. It's just what you're saying is ridiculous. Although I don't want to call your son a liar, no creature is inherently evil and so them having evil eyes just seems silly to. Plus it wasn't too long ago that Shifters said that us Alkidikes had black evil eyes." She shrugged and the stall owner looked visibly disturbed. "I'm just saying, people shouldn't put so much stock in rumors. If you haven't seen it with my own eyes it's hard to believe." Although her intention wasn't to go and make the woman uncomfortable Briella didn't feel bad. Maybe this would teach the woman to keep her gossip to less public places. She finished buying the furs and walked away, knowing full well that the minute that she walked away that the women would continue her gossip and that might be the next topic of discussion.

She didn't get far before she felt a tug at her skirt. She looked down to see a young Shifter with tearful eyes. "What's wrong?" she asked as she shifted the furs to her side and bent down.

"Is it true? What you said about it all being fake true? Is there really no monster out there on the islands?" the youngling asked, voice trembling.

Briella smiled, hoping she looked friendly, comforting and trustworthy. "I'm not sure young one." The younglings eyes went wide, tears threatening to fall, "However I am sure that what they are saying isn't true. There might be things there that are dangerous, but not some large monster like creature that is evil. Plus there is no way that an animal would even be aware that there are other people on other lands, so it wouldn't be out to get us. You have to remember that everywhere has animals that have the potential to be scary, but they all have the potential to be good also."

Although it didn't seem like her words had the strong effect that she wanted, the youngling calmed down some. With a nod he released her skirt and was off running away from her. Briella stood once more and continued on her way back to her house. It was crazy what younglings would believe, and because of that people needed to be more careful about what they said. It would be stupid to have a bunch of younglings running around scared of something that wasn't real. She would have to go back home to the islands soon, surely the Alkidikes younglings wouldn't be as guilliable as the Earthling ones.
