Goretti was out, again—more times this week than he figured was safe. His father was working overtime, again, and he knew it was only to make sure he could afford to give him a good Christmas. Which wasn't really necessary, but whatever. It was cute. Orin had all he could ever want, but for some reason his father always tried to work twice as hard to make sure he had everything he could ever need.

…And there were some presents under the tree that Goretti was, admittedly, excited to open.

But here he was, daydreaming about Christmas when he was supposed to be training! Ugh! How was he supposed to get stronger when he couldn’t even focus?

He'd been trailing an energy signature for a short while and was determined to figure out just what it was. Not senshi, not knight, not cat…not chaos. It was a mystery!

And maybe discovering it was going to help him get stronger!

…Would have helped if he knew what he was looking for, though. Instead he was just chasing after the energy signature, looking around and occasionally calling, "Helllooo? Is somebody out there?"

Quail's Eye was still sort of sick, but he was much better than before. He spent four days in bed being doted on by his big jerk of a boyfriend and the other learned that he was a whiny baby who wanted to cling but mostly be left alone at he same time, to be a lump on the bed. He was a very big contradiction of a person, honestly. But now the dark gray haired man was out and about and feeling worlds better.

So much so he wanted to do some damage to someone! Or at least just practice his fighting, because honestly, Quail was rubbish at it. He had a gust of wind attack and that was it. He usually flew away.

The man stopped on a lamp post when he heard someone calling out to ...no one in particular and he headed toward it before calling back: "Hello? I'm here!"

Goretti perked up when he got a response, and immediately trotted towards the voice. It took only a second before he spotted someone—who looked friendly enough. At least, he wasn’t carrying around a weapon and didn't reek of the Negaverse.

"Oh! Hey! Wow, I have no idea what you are! Are you…a senshi? Or a cat? …You don't look like a cat—what are you?"

He gave him a good look over but realized how rude he might sound and was quick to amend, "I mean, sorry! I just never met anyone like you before! I'm Goretti. Senshi of Glue. Well. Chibi Senshi, but hopefully not for long. I'm trying to work on that."

And he was face to face with a chibi senshi and Quail's whole face lit up. He hadn't met many, but he loved every single one he'd met. The short man moved over to him and laughed, bouncing a bit like he was a child again.

"I'm Quail's Eye of the Amazon Trio! I'm not.. a senshi or a cat. I'm just a Quail's Eye." He laughed and shook his head a little. "Chibi? I've met a few. What do you need help with? H..Have you been attacked?" Those honey colored eyes looked around suddenly and concentrated, trying to get a read on any chaotic energy near them. He got nothing, but one couldn't be to careful.

Heels clicked as he circled, glancing, frowning hard and then looked back at Goretti. "..How can I help?"

"Amazon Trio! That sounds fancy! You must be special," he said, eyes sparkling. "I gotta say, you look good for an eye. He enthusiasm dwindled a bit when he realized that Quail was waiting for an answer, and he shifted on his feet and shrugged.

"I guess I got attacked. But I got out okay. It's just…this Negaverse lady, she took some woman's starseed, and…I couldn’t get it back. So she…"

His voice trailed off and he struggled for a second to control his emotions. Finally, he just shrugged again. "I couldn’t help her. I don't ever want to be in that position again. So I want to get stronger. I don't want to be a chibi anymore. I want to be stronger so I can save people. I…I don't know, if you have any advice, I'll take it!"

Quail flushed and shook his head a bit before laughing and rubbing his blushing cheeks. "N-no! I mean it's not fancy?" Quail had never heard that one before, honestly! It made him a bit uneasy and he just rubbed at his stomach in nervousness before the subject changed for Goretti answering his question.

The mood completely changed to serious and he got even more quiet. His brows knit and he moved over to the chibi to put a hand through his hair slowly. "...We'll both work on getting stronger. If you'll be my sparing partner? I'm not good at fighting yet, so it's just a learning process." The smile he offered up was a quiet one, full of hope.

"So next time, you can save someone."

Goretti blinked and then nodded quickly. There wasn't really any question if he was going to do this or note—if it involved getting stronger, helping him save someone…He had to do it.

He had to become a better senshi to make sure he never let anyone else down.

He knew he was going to have to fight—and practicing with someone you could trust was exactly the way he wanted to do it.

"Okay!" he said, and while he sounded enthusiastic, he also sounded worried. "How do you want to do this?" he asked, taking as best of a battle stance as he could imagine. "Any rules, or…you know. How do we start this thing?"

"We'll just spar and see your strength! Then.. I can maybe help you condition yourself to get even stronger. Or at least tell you a gym to go to." Quail's Eye laughed a little and sniffled before taking his own battle stance, biting down on his lip a bit.

Rules though. "No magic. No 'fatal' punches, and please, not my face?" He had a boyfriend that would worry and cuss up a storm if he came home with yet another bruise on his face. Apparently Kraven really enjoyed looking at him. (Weird to think about, but he liked looking at Kraven too.) "Ah.. no below the belt business either. We're both men here."

Goretti blinked and seemed surprised when Quail said they were both men. Men! Like he was an adult! His eyes lit up and he nodded eagerly. "No problem! But I don't think I can go to a gym! I play soccer but my dad might think a gym is just too weird! I don't want him to find out!"

He seemed excited and was ready to see what Quail had in mind; he clenched and unclenched his hands into fists. He was ready for this--ready to try and prove that he could hold his own in a battle, chibi or not. But he also knew his own powers and what he could do (wel, sort of...) but he had no idea what to expect from his opponent. He had only seen a little magic used before, and since he had never heard of the Amazon Trio he was basically dying to see what he could do! "I can do that! You go first, I'm ready! Let me see what you've got!"

The small man grinned when the other seemed so excited about this. He rushed forward and pivoted on his foot, swinging out a kick to the other to see if he could dodge. It was slower than he would normally attack someone, but this was a spar. Quail wasn't going to be going full force on the kid because he figured he was still really young and didn't need abuse from a higher up trying to help him out.

Goretti managed to dodge, if only barely. Being a senshi gave him the special perk of being naturally quicker—even if it did come with the cost of making him a little weaker. He usually wasn't much for physical attacks but Quail had given his specifications and Goretti was going to try to play by the rules. He dodged the attack but didn't seem to know what to do instead.

He didn't like the idea of hurting anyone, so he awkwardly charged at Quail. He figured he could at least try to incapacitate him without doing any real damage. Goretti wasn't exactly big, so he hoped he had enough momentum to knock Quail over if he threw himself at him. "Sorry!" he apologized, even as he tried to tackle the older male to the ground.

The tackling he hadn't expected. Quail yelped and fell to the ground and grunted at the weight of the apologetic kid on him before he grunted. The other rolled so he was above Goretti and then pushed himself off and did a series of flips to put distance between them.

"That's using your head! It's good, not bad! Don't apologize. The enemy won't." He got a serious look on his face and got into an offensive stance before rushing at the other again, throwing a punch or two at him. "Try to block my punches and direct them away from you. Use the enemy momentum against themselves."

"But you're not my enemy!" Goretti said quickly, trying to dodge the blows. He was fast, but not very graceful; he was tripping over his feet only a second later. One punch caught him in the shoulder, but even as he fell he grabbed onto Quail's leg to pull him down with him. He landed in a heap on the ground and apologized again, trying to scramble to get up. "Sorry! I'm used to magic! I can use it to glue people to the ground so it really helps me get a little bit of an advantage!"

"Pretend I am the enemy! It's the only way this goes seriousl-" and then he was once more on the ground, knees scraping and hissing slowly. He rolled out of the other's reach before shoving himself to his feet and just panted, pushing his hand through his bangs.

"You watch kung fu movies? The teacher always attacks like the enemy. I am your teacher, your sensei in this case. Listen to what I say. Let's try it one more time. Try to block my punches." With that, Quail darted forward again and threw a punch. It wasn't fast or hard, but hew as testing reaction time right now.

Goretti sighed heavily; he was trying to focus but when his go-to was his magic, he felt like he wasn't giving it his all by not using it. But he understood that sometimes he wouldn’t have his magic, and it was best to understand just exactly what he was getting himself into.

He watched the punch and threw up a hand as if to block it, pushing it away. He was quick to take a step back and confess, "I like kicking more. Do you wanna try dodging some kicks? I cant try to be careful."

…It was very clear that Goretti really didn’t want to hurt Quail.

…And honestly, he didn't even want to hurt a Negaverse Agent.
