User ImageTheodora enjoyed studying in the cafe. It was a calming atmosphere where she could focus on her work as well as get her favorite cup of coffee and listen to the sounds of people walking all around her. She liked a bit of background noise while she worked and the level of noise that the cafe provided was just enough.

When she walked in today, however, the sight of a small stage at the back of the cafe was a bit of a discouragement. There weren't any posters this week about music happening today, were there? Ugh. Well, she'd give them a fair chance and see if she could tolerate it. If not, she'd take her books and go back to campus.

"One regular dark roast with cream and three sugars, please." She said, handing the girl behind the counter the amount needed and taking her order with a smile. "Thank you."

User ImageDuma was having second thoughts about his choice of venue, mostly because of how small the cafe was. It was a nice place, honestly, he'd remember it for when he had to study for a test or needed a quick cup of coffee, but it wasn't a place that had great acoustics. He'd wanted something more open and well lit, but he supposed that he'd have to deal with what he'd been given. After all, it wasn't like he was being paid for this.

"Ah, hello folks!" He said, checking his microphone. "I'll be starting up in just a minute, but before I do, does anyone have any requests?"

He looked across the cafe and sighed. Man, only one table had someone seated? This was the slowest cafe he'd ever seen! Maybe it would be best to pack up while he still had his dignity.

User ImageThe ombre haired imp had just sat down when Duma called out for requests, and it was then that she realized just how empty the cafe was. Everyone was probably busy preparing for the Solstice festivities, so it wasn't odd for there to be less people about, but to be the only person in the cafe besides the employees and the performer on stage was a little jarring. She looked up to the golden haired mutant sheepishly and fiddled with her drink, before finally raising her hand.

"Ah-um, do you know anything classical?" She asked, only to glance shyly toward the wall.

User ImageDuma's attention snapped to Theodora as she spoke, but his expression only faltered. No, he didn't know anything classical. He pretty much knew anything else but classical music. This entire experience was turning out to be nothing but a big failure, wasn't it? He sighed, placed his hands at his sides, and hopped off the stage.

"Sorry, I don't. I really should studying those, though." He laughed, rubbing the back of his head. "And with no one else here... I suppose I should wait to start until later."

He paused before reaching her table and sighed, before looking to her again.

"Mind if I join you?" He asked.

User ImageTheodora's cheeks flushed. Of course he didn't know anything classical, he was clearly a pop singer. It was a silly question to have asked. She turned back to her cup of coffee and sipped at it, only to lean back as she realized that Duma was coming closer. At this distance, it was even more clear that he had extra eyes and she wondered if he had more situated under his clothes. She was sure that it would be really rude to ask something like that, so she kept it to herself for now.

"No, no, I don't mind at all." She replied, patting the empty chair next to her. "... I hope more people come by soon so you can perform, but it is Solstice time. Most people are busy this time of year..."

She took another sip of coffee and looked to him thoughtfully, before laughing.

"Oh, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Theodora." She said, offering her claw to shake. "What's your name?"

User ImageAs soon as Theodora patted the chair, Duma moved to plop himself in it. His tail coiled upward and around his leg as he crossed them and the golden haired imp smiled. He'd only sit here until the crowd got a little larger, if it got any larger to begin with, and maybe get a coffee if he wanted one. For now, he was more focused on the eyes of the woman in front of him. They were like glinting pools of water at sunset. Blue, yellow, orange... He had to shake himself out of them.

"Ooh, yeah! That's right, it's Solstice time!" He laughed, rubbing at the back of his head. "I've been so busy with school and practice, I forgot all about the holidays. Time goes so fast."

He took her hand as it was offered and shook it heartily.

"I'm Duma, it's a pleasure to meet you Theodora!" He replied, before noticing the books on the table. "Did you come here to study? Those look pretty complicated."

User ImageTheodora couldn't help but look into Duma's eyes as he studied hers, mostly because there were so many of them on him. How in the world did he see with so many different perspectives? Could he open and close them all separately or did them all blink in sync? Her answer came right at the moment he started laughing, when all five of them shut and fixated back on her right after. She blushed, but smiled. How interesting...

"It really does. I swear I was a still in academy two minutes ago, but here I am, an adult." She agreed, laughing and looking to her textbooks. "Ah, yes! I do all my best studying in cafes. I'm working towards a degree in pediatrics at Leviathan. I want to help sick kids feel better."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 29, 2016 2:54 pm

User ImageDuma seemed to drink up every word that Theodora was saying and leaned forward. An aspiring pediatrician, huh? He could see someone like her in a white coat, handing out lollipops and helping kids of all ages heal and get back to growing up. She exuded that sort of aura. Serene, kind, gentle... A motherly, protective sort of feeling. He clasped his hands and took a breath to still his beating heart.

"That's a beautiful thing to strive for, you know." He said, leaning to the side and blushing. "Healing kids, making them feel better... I could see a sweet girl like you becoming the best doctor around."

User ImageTheodora's shoulders hunched in surprise at the compliment. Beautiful, sweet? Oh, he was flirting with her, wasn't he? She looked down to her books, to herself, and then to her coffee before finally meeting his gaze again. His cheeks were just as red as hers, he had to be flirting! No one had ever flirted with her before, this was something she never thought would happen! Her tail lifted up off the ground and covered her face.

"Sweet, me? No, no, it's just... Always been my dream!" She giggled, slowly lowering her tail to the ground again. "But, I really appreciate the compliment, I... Think you're really sweet, too. After all, you haven't made any fuss about no one coming to hear you play and came over to keep me company. That's pretty noble of you."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 29, 2016 3:09 pm

User ImageNow it was Duma's turn to cover his face with his tail and laugh. He hadn't expected Theodora to be so receptive to his compliment, or his obvious flirting, and get a compliment in return! Man, was he glad he'd decided to come over and talk to her! This girl was a sweetheart!

"Bah-ha! Noble? I'm not being noble." He replied, allowing his tail to settle on his lap. "I'm pretty used to this sort of turn out, you know? My music's not very well known yet and, like you said, it's a pretty busy time of year. I should've been a bit more aware of the date I chose."

He paused and gave her a subtle smirk.

"But, if I had, I might not have met you." He continued. "So, I'm glad I was a little careless then."

User ImageTheodora listened to Duma's explanation, only to be caught completely off guard by more of his flirting. Oh, this boy had her face flushing and her sides in stitches! How did someone get so charming? It practically radiated off of him, like a bright ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. She took a breath and beamed.

"So am I. You're a breath of fresh air, Duma." She said, taking a sip of her coffee. "... You know, there's a restaurant next door that just opened up. Do you want to grab a bite and... Chat some more? I can always study later."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 29, 2016 3:25 pm

User ImageA breath of fresh air. Duma really liked the sound of that. He'd never thought of himself as refreshing, not even when he sang or played guitar, but it was still wonderful to hear someone say that about him. Theodora obviously saw something good in him, just as he'd hoped. He echoed her smile.

"Absolutely, that sounds great!" He exclaimed, nudging himself up from the table. "Let me help you pack up your books and I'll go nab my guitar. Maybe the venue in there wouldn't mind me playing a tune while we eat, and if not, I'd love to keep chatting with you."
