The trip across the water had gone smoothly, even her mother had been calm. V'demhe had made sure that they could drop her mother off on the isle that had their home before she and Virain would take the boat to the Island that housed Aisha. For now they simply glided across the water and she made sure to stay close to the one she considered her mate. Even under the watchful eyes of other sisters. When they got closer to the shore and were ready to disembark she smiled at Rainy. "This is the island that our great mother thrives on. If you get nasty looks from others don't take it to heart, they only want to make sure Aisha is protected." She placed one hand on his and held it gently. In an odd way she didn't want to get off the boat, if only so that she could savor the moment with him.

When she felt the familiar nudge of earth beneath the floating structure she looked into his eyes and took a deep breath. "This is it, are you ready to meet the mother of all Alkidikes?" V'demhe was practically beaming with excitement.

Virain kept to himself during the boatride, eyes glued to the land around him. It was similar to and yet totally different from anything he was accustomed to, and the quiet was soothing. Only when it was time for V'denri to depart did Virain look away from the waterpaths to wish her well and to convey his hopes that he'd see her again before he left the isles. Then it was the three of them and Virain started to feel the first stirrings of unease.

He grimaced as Dem spoke, licked his lips, and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "I'm used to nasty looks. So long as none of them actually try to do anything I can ignore them." He murmured, "It's as you say, they simply want to keep your mother safe." He took a moment to lean into her, needing to feel the solid warmth of her body before pulling away. The boat had landed and all they were doing now was delaying things. It wouldn't look good to the others if he simply...sat there.

"I don't think I'll ever be ready for this." He said, "It's not every day someone asks to become a parent."

She kept his hand in hers and seemed to settle back down when he said he wasn't ready. V'demhe gave a look to the shore and where Aisha lay hen back at Rainy. "We can wait if you want to, Virain." Thankfully the sister that had rowed them to shore got out and headed off to leave them alone. She felt her antennae give a bit of a droop at the idea of not asking for a bloom of her own but she wouldn't force her mate into it. "I know you are still training and if that is what you are worried for then don't be. I would follow you to make sure you reach your goal or if we do receive a daughter from Aisha then I will care for her." Dem wanted to make sure that he understood she did not expect him to put a pause on his life.

Still not making a move to leave the boat she watched Rainy. "I will admit that the idea of asking has gotten my hopes up but I can wait if it will make you feel better."

"No love, no." Virain murmured and reached over to cradle her cheek in his hand. "It's not what you're thinking, not at all. I want to have younglings with you. I'm just afraid of how I'll be around them. My parents aren't the ideal role models when it comes to parenting and, well, I'm afraid that I'll end up taking a page out of their book." He gave her a lopsided smile, "But I know you'll keep me straight if I ever end up doing some of the things that they did."

He let his hand drop and stood, cautiously hopped out of the boat and offered Dem his hand. "Shall we head off before I say anything else stupid enough to make you doubt me?" And it was true, thinking about what he'd said, how he felt, it was all silly. He wouldn't ever resort to the things his parents did, because his children wouldn't have to grow up the way he did. He would do everything in his power to make sure of it.

Her head tilted and leaned against his hand. Oh how she adored his touch. In hearing his fears she smiled lovingly at him. The fact that he was so worried about how he would be as a parent meant that he was already a great one. Even Aisha could see that. Seeing him hop out of the boat made her stand though she took his offered hand to exit. Once she was on solid ground she wrapped her arms around him. "I will not have to, Rainy, you are already doing a fantastic job. Just remember.. they will be made in our likeness and all they will want is your love." There was a short nuzzle from her and then she let go.

V'demhe would, however, keep one hand in his to show to all the Alkidikes that he was there with her. If she had to then she would hang all over him. The point to be made was that he was her mate and any that had an issue with it would be dealing with the young Amazon in training. "Aisha will love you."

Already doing a fantastic job? He pondered her meaning as he laced his fingers with hers, feeling only a surge of affection when he realized just how small he was compared to her. If their younglings only wanted his love, then they'd have it, because love was the emotion that came most easily to him. He hummed happily at her at looked down the path that he was most certain they'd take.

He hoped Aisha would like him enough to grant them younglings and that her love was big enough to blanket all younglings and not just her own. "Shall we my love?"

V'demhe gave a nod then led the way. Now that she had asserted that Virain was hers she didn't seem to pay much attention to the others as they stared. Heck, she didn't even really pay attention to Maha as he followed silently behind them. Of course she knew he was there, he hardly ever left her side. The exception being when Rainy was around and since she was walking with him.. well it guaranteed that her familiar was with them both.

The closer they got the more Aisha would loom above them. The ancient tree that was the mother to all Alkidikes. V'demhe eyed the beautiful twisting trunk and fully colored leaves with admiration. "This is Aisha. She is the giver of life." And so much more. At least she was to the Alkidikes. "Just remember to be polite. She has seen a great many things in her lifetime." Now she smiled at him. It was like she expected him to understand that he was meant to ask the tree for a child.

It was hard keeping his spine straight under the weight of so many stares. He had to remind himself that none of those present would bring harm to him so long as he was polite and adhered to their rules, their law. He hoped that'd they'd give warning before doing anything, he wasn't certain as to what rules the Alkidikes upheld other than the ones pertaining to their mother tree.

He felt his shoulders relax a little, the closer they came to Aisha, the closer he was to her magnificence and beautiful blossoms. He felt a smile curl his lips without his consent and couldn't help the feeling that bubbled up in him. This was it, he really was going through with it and there would be no turning back. He wouldn't forgive himself if he lost his nerve now. He'd be letting both himself and Dem down, and he just...couldn't do that. V'denri would have his head.

"I wonder if she's seen Matorians before." He murmured, "And the birth of the other tribes." How old she must be and how much she lived through. He wished he could listen to her speak because he was certain that the stories she must know were filled with all sorts of things.

He let out a soft sigh and leaned Dem for a moment. "What happens now?"

She chuckled when she noticed him smiling without knowing. V'demhe was pleased that he felt elated even just a little bit in the presence of Aisha. When he mentioned seeing a Matorian she had to pause and think. "I'm not sure. I don't think one has ever come to speak to her." Of course she would need to actually ask an elder to be sure of that. History wasn't a lesson she had paid much attention to.

"Now you speak to Aisha and show her your heart. Ask her for her blessing." As she said the word "heart" her hand went to his chest so that he would understand she only meant spiritually. "Like this.." She cleared her throat and turned her eyes upon the Great Mother.

"Aisha.. I come before you today with my mate. He may not have been born from you but I have found my happiness in him. I have found my love for all living things with him. I ask that you bless us. If not with a daughter then simply for being together." There was a shimmering in her eyes as she spoke. V'demhe took a deep breath and shifted closer to Rainy.

He watched her, the hand on her heart, the want in her voice, the tone. He could feel his eyes start to burn with the tears that welled up in them. He blinked them back and turned to look at the Great Mother, the literal heart and life of the Alkidikes. One hand rose of its own violation and placed itself over his heart, fingers relaxed. Dem made it seem so easy, so judgement free and he couldn't help but hope that it was. "Great Mother Aisha, I stand before you with my mate, the one who holds my heart to ask for your blessing. I know I am not one of your children and I have no right to ask for younglings of our own, but here we are. Even if you deem us unworthy of younglings, please, watch over us, please accept our love, our devotion to each other." He opened eyes that he was unaware of closing and shifted just enough to look at Dem from the corner of his eye.

Even if you do not accept me, please, Great Mother, please grant her her wish.

When he spoke she smiled a little wider. Dem was pleased to hear his words. Not only because they were from the heart and mentioned her as his mate, but because she knew that Aisha would love him for it. When he was finished she grinned and leaned against him. "See, speaking to her is easy." The young blade was sure that even if there was no bloom granted that her great mother had found Virain acceptable. "I know she will admire you for coming to see her." Especially in these times.

"If only speaking to all mothers were that easy." He joked, reaching out to link his hand in hers. "This has to be the smoothest meeting I've encountered yet, when speaking to a mother." He thought back to the three women who stood out prominently in his memory, and was amused to realize that they were all Alkidikes. "I'm glad I was given this chance, that your sisters allowed us here. " He brushed the back of her hand with his thumb.

He was at a loss as to what happened next, but he suspected that he might be starting to wear his welcome a bit thin. "Should we head back? I'm sure your sisters are antsy with a stranger so close to the Great Mother."

The smile just wouldn't leave her face. V'demhe thought this day was probably the happiest she had or would have! Virain got to see Aisha and had seen her home islands. Plus he'd met her earthly mother. She made a noise somewhere between a purr and a hum and nodded her head. "Yes, we will head back to Jauhar. If Aisha sees fit to bless us then the elders will send a sister to inform us." Basically it was now a waiting game.

She cast a longing glance at Aisha hoping that her plea would be heard. Nothing would excite her more than to forever tie herself to Virain in such a way. Then Dem made to lead Rainy back toward the boat, not wanting to put him in harms way for longer than was necessary.

V'demhe's excitement was infectious, to the point where Virain felt his cheeks heat up and a grin stretched his lips. Even if the Great Mother chose to deny them, something had changed for the better between them. He felt settled, elated, and loved like he'd never been before. Life could only get better and it wasn't as if they couldn't try again, later on. But that was if they were denied, if they were blessed.

He didn't think his heart could swell any bigger with the amount of love that was straining inside it.

He tightened his grip on Dem's hand a little and let her lead him back to the boat. "Do you want to spend the night with your mother?" He asked, "I'll be fine by myself tonight if you do."

Though she was happy that he asked her if she wanted to spend the night with her mother she shook her head at him. "No, I would rather spend it with you." Given that they had just asked for children she didn't want to be separate from him. With a bit of a wicked gleam in her eye she scooped Virain up and nuzzled him. "I believe I'd like to be really close to you." A blush reached her cheeks as her words came out.

Maha trotted along behind them, lazily enjoying the visit to see Aisha. When he saw Dem pick Rainy up he snorted then moved on ahead of them so that he could hop into the boat before they got there.
