Brrr! It was cold out! Olga loved it. It was exciting to have busted out her winter jacket, complete with her ridiculously big scarf and winter hat with it's little ship on it that said SAIL. Oh, and a pom. Couldn't forget the pom. The pom really made it. She was decked out in all stated things, rocking her heels as she waited on the corner of one of the busier and more well known intersections of Destiny City. It was here she was waiting. She had arranged an outing with her new little buddy, Orin, through text, not long after first running into him in the park when they were powered. She decided today would be a great day to get some milkshakes! The intersection also seemed best for both of them in terms of meeting up before hitting the mall. When it was almost winter! Yeah! Man, milkshakes were good anytime of the year...and they'd probably need them after being Christmas mall rats. That had also been part of her proposal to the boy when she texted him. She just loved walking the mall around the holidays!

Orin was dressed in so many layers that he felt like he was a giant walking marshmallow. It hadn't even been his idea; his father sometimes still treated him like he was a little kid and sometimes had that nagging way about him—'Did you grab a sweater? Do you have your jacket? Do you have your gloves? I left your scarf on the doorknob, don't forget it!'
Orin thought it was endearing, and of course, because he loved his father, he wore every single article his father had fretted over. He wasn't regretting it right now, if only because he was very comfortably toasty.
In fact, he was so warm that milkshakes even sounded good.
Spotting Olga wasn't too difficult; when he was within earshot he called her name and waved. "You're early! Or am I late?" His watch was hidden beneath two layers of clothes and his phone was basically lost in the pocket of his sweater. "Dad was worried I was going to catch a cold. But I don't think I'm going to," he laughed, looking down to admire his outfit. "I hope you weren't out here for too long! I don't want you catching cold!

Olga immediately perked up at hearing her name, and stood on her tip toes---(not that she needed to really with her 5'11" frame) to wave back enthusiastically at Orin until he approached. "I'm early!" She assured him with her fox eyed grin, and laughed, reaching out without even thinking about it to wrap him in a tight hug. "You're so squishable---and even more so now that you have all these layers! You look like the Michelin Man!" She laughed at that, and let him go, reaching to push the walk light button so that they could cross the street. "I don't think you are either---and don't you worry about me! I'm like global warming---I can't be cold!" Olga rested her hands on her hips, and when the light turned green, she reached to place her hand on Orin's back and keep him in pace with her. "How're you doing, huh? Feeling better, I hope? Getting ready for the holidays? Do you and your dad have any special plans?"

Orin hardly seemed embarrassed; he laughed. He was still a head shorter than her and was convinced he was going to hit a growth spurt any day now. "You better enjoy it while you can! I'm going to grow out of all this baby fat probably like next month or something," he shrugged.
…And if he didn't, he didn't know what he was going to do.
"I'm doing better. Honestly, a lot thanks to you. Plus the girl I like and I are going out now. Even though I kinda don't know what to be doing. Haven't told my dad yet. He'll be happy, because he likes her, but—you know. How do you tell your dad something like that, you know?" He was rambling and seemed to catch himself. "—But dad's got Christmas off! I think. Well, he has the twenty sixth off, so we're celebrating a day later. Which is great because it means I get to sneak out for all the Holiday sales and get him something extra discounted." He laughed, but clarified, "—I already made him something though, just in case. But I wanna get him something extra special. What about you? Are you done with all your shopping?"

Olga gasped, loudly. "Well since you say that---" She slung her arm around his shoulder and squished him tightly into her side as they walked. "Woo!" She cheered, happy to hear that he was doing better, and even pumped a fist into the air. "I'm so happy to hear---" She then choked a bit, looking at him surprised. "Aww! Well, it was nothing---" No, it was something. It really made her feel happy and good to know that she had helped him out, just by being, well, herself. "I'm so glad I could help! Anytime little buddy, any time, okay---and what---" Olga stared at him, and then squished him even harder against her. " Woah, Orin, woah. You have a girlfriend now? Woah, buddy, you have some serious game---" She shook him a bit. "Tell me about her! What's her name? How long have you guys known each other for?" Her eyes were getting brighter as the ship talk went on. "Details, Orin, details! Also, tell me how you did it, because I really think I could learn some pointers from you---" She grinned, and understood the telling dad thing completely. "It's better to just bite the bullet sometimes---yanno? Rib off the bandaid fast instead of slow. Less painful in the long run! Awww, that sounds awesome though! I hope you and your dad have great holidays--yeah!" Olga nodded. "I got all my shopping taken care of! Now it's just a matter of delivering the stuff soon!" She looked up from Orin as the mall came into sight, complete with all it's extravagant holiday decorations along the light posts and what not.

Orin just laughed and shook his head. "Hush! Don't make a scene! It'd be just my luck that her mom'll be out shopping and overhear! I haven't told her or Dad yet, but I'm going to. As soon as I figure out the right thing to say. And what are you so surprised about! I'll be fifteen in February!" He was smiling, but then reached his hands up to pat at his cheeks. "It's because I still look twelve, isn't it? Dad says I'm a perfect young man, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to get stuck with a baby face forever. Not even your poptarts are going to help me."
He seemed in much better spirits today; even though the ghost of that poor civilian was haunting his subconscious, he'd been taking pointers from anyone that would speak to him. He hadn't forgiven himself yet, but he was trying to get stronger and understood that moping wasn't the way to do it. And he had to take care of his mental health, so days like this were really good.
In fact, Olga in general was really good.
"—Of course, I can't believe that you need pointers. Why aren't you with anyone? You seem like you're a lot of fun. And you're pretty, and a superhero. Doesn't that appeal to guys? —I mean, or girls, whatever you like. As long as you're happy."

"Oh--- oh ho." Olga grinned slyly at him. " Secret love, huh? So romantic! You guys are like Romeo and Juliet---minus all the dying at the end, of course! Well, you're gonna be fifteen---that's so young!" Said the girl who was only four years older than him. "Also, you better enjoy those baby cheeks while you got them. You'll hit puberty, and then you're voice will get deeper, and then you'll shoot up like Jack's beanstalk!" She laughed, and jogged a bit forward once the doors to the mall food court came into sight. She grabbed the door and held it open for Orin. She choked, and then blushed. "Um---just---no time and um---" She shrugged while holding open the door. "Guys---I like abs---and um--- one guy in particular---" She coughed. "Ready for a milkshake!?"

Orin's eyes shot up when she mentioned she liked one guy in particular and a slow grin spread across his face. "Who?" he demanded; he was absolutely ready for a milkshake, but there wasn't any way at all he could let that one go.
"—And we are so much better than Romeo and Juliet. Our parents totally don't hate each other. They get along great. And they both have white hair. Well. My dad dyes his, but it's supposed to be white. But he likes to match," he said, fluffing his own black hair as he jogged after her. It was already shaggy enough and combing his fingers through it definitely didn't do anything to style it.
"But I want to know who you like! Is it someone I know? Does he," he paused, "Have a night job, like us?"

Olga's cheeks burned a bit red. She didn't help this thought often, only every now and then---but wow, she had a big mouth! Someone would surely would agree."Er---" She followed into the food court after Orin, listening and laughing. "Awww, nothing wrong with dying hair, and matching is adorable---" Her cheeks turned a bit more red. "Dooooon't think you know him---he does to DCU too, and he's um, taking criminology classes for a year before he enters the academy because he wants to be a police officer---" At the night job question, Olga's brows furrowed briefly. "Well---" She frowned a bit, looking more perplexed than mad as she made a bee line for the food shop that sold some of the best milkshakes in the city. In her opinion. "He does, but---" She looked more perplexed, staring off at nothing in particular before looking back down at him. "He doesn't really power up. Hardly. He...just doesn't."

"Ohhhhh," Orin crooned, and winked at her as if to say he understood.
Except, he really didn't, and it was just in his nature to be curious and pry. "Did something bad happen to him?" he asked, but given the need to keep identities secret, he did not expect a full answer—especially not in the food Court. Not that anyone seemed to be paying too much attention to them. At least not enough to know what they were really talking about.
He pursed his lips as he trailed behind her. "You know, I can go to DCU and check on everyone in a criminology class. I'll ask every cute boy 'Hey, do you know Olga, because she has a super huge crush on you.' And I'll bet he's so flattered he runs out of class to chase after you and propose his love. Mmhmm."
He nodded, deadset on the idea. "But if he wants to be a police officer, I'm sure he's a good guy. You like a guy in uniform?"

Olga could only give the boy the biggest of shrugs, and the most uncertain of brief frowns. "I dunno---but, if it did---I'll find out!" She made a fist pump, and then a very determined face, but the confidence of the look immediately faded into a very embarrassed and spluttering red faced wide eyed look. She whirled around to face him, waving her hands frantically at him. "Don't!" She shrieked. "Don't! He won't! He wooooon't!" She wailed. Olga kept waving her hands at him, burning red, and then nodded her head, almost shamefully. She lowered her voice to a whisper. "I've seen pictures of him in a Navy uniform---" Dreamy sigh. "I can only imagine a police uniform---and I eagerly await the day---" And she imagined him in it a lot. Had googled what the Destiny City police uniform looked like, even. The summer and winter editions. Olga was briefly snapped out of her day dreaming and embarrassment by a loud and slightly confused, "How may I help you?" Called out to her by the teen behind the counter, waiting to take her order, as she was the next in line. "Oops---" Olga grabbed Orin's wrist, and pulled him the last few steps to the counter. "I'd like a large strawberry milkshake, please!" She chirped, "And whatever my little buddy here wants!" As she waited for Orin to place his order, Olga fished out her wallet, her tongue poking out in concentration.

Orin couldn't help but laugh—at everything. At her red face, at her enthusiasm. At her dreamy sigh. He was still laughing when they got called forward after not paying attention (he laughed at that, too), but he was easy to please and politely requested an Oreo milkshake.
Because he was a kid, and that was perfect, and his father never, ever had to know how much sugar he was regularly ingesting.
When Olga paid, he waited off to the side but was quick to thank her—again. "Since you're so nice, I guess I won't make your life harder and rat you out to your crush. But I have to ask—and I'm sorry if this sound stupid! I don't have a lot of girls in my life. It's just me and dad and he never brings home any girlfriends, so I have to ask, do all girls get like you get when a boy's involved? Like, I mean," he seemed a little flustered. "If I wanted to impress a girl, getting a job with a uniform—that's the way to go?"

"Oh, it's not stupid at all!" Well, this was like--- a complicated topic. Except not really. She definitely felt like she needed to give him a good explanation though. "Well---" Suddenly Olga was looking like a very popular internet meme: "No. Not all girls do! It really just depends on the girl! But it's like---" Olga paused for a moment, her brows furrowing. "Oh, okay, so you know the whole bad boy thing? Like, some girls really honestly like bad boys, but a lot of girls like the idea of a bad boy, and what they represent, but they don't actually want a bad boy." She nodded. "Same goes for men in uniforms! Some girls really truly do like men in uniforms, while some just like to only look at men in uniforms---I like both---that is, I like a man in uniform, and I also like to look!" She grinned, her cheeks flaring a bit pink again. "That's me personally though!" Their orders were ready, and Olga chirped a thanks as she grabbed her milkshake, and waited for Orin to do the same, now scanning the food court for an open table. "Are you asking because of your girlfriend?" She questioned with a grin, glancing down at him momentarily, and ruffling his hair before jerking her head in an indication to follow her. Olga weaved through the other tables filled with people, before she finally found the one she located. The young woman plopped down into a seat, and took a big sip of her shake, uttering a satisfied sound. She then quickly leaned forward, towards Orin, intent on continuing the conversation. "If you wanna impress your girlfriend, you gotta think of stuff she likes! So---what kind of stuff does she like? Though, I will say, I think you're already doing a really good job if you guys are dating already!" Orin was younger then she was, and he had a significant other. She was nineteen, and never had one. Orin definitely had better game than Olga. For sure.

Orin listened intently, but the more she spoke, the firmer the line of his lips became. Finally, exasperated, he sighed dramatically. "Yeah, but I don't know if she's gonna wanna keep me, you know? We kissed, but Millie, she's…She's the type of girl that's gonna play with fire, you know? And the more I think about it, the more I can see her wanting some bad boy that she has to reel in. You know, she's all—like—passionate, and smart and hardworking. She likes to butt heads with people, and she's good at it, so maybe she'd like someone who could keep her on her toes. But then, I could see her after a guy in a uniform because that's so professional and it means he's gonna be accomplished and diligent and has a career lined up. And ambition is easy to like!"
He had to take a break to sip at the milkshake as he followed after her.
"See—I like animals. The only uniform I could probably wear is like—I don't know! Being a mailman could be fun! But I wanted to maybe be a vet or something. Or a farmer. But overalls totally aren't attractive."

Olga nodded her head as her mouth was attached to the straw of her milkshake, taking drinks while Orin explained himself. Her eyes were slowly widening the more and more he went on, and when he finished, she finally stopped to gasp, loudly. "Oh my gosh!" Both of Olga's hands went into the air, but luckily the milkshake didn't leave them. "That's how I feel too---well---not thinking I need to be a bad girl or anything---um---just, that maybe I need to be someone who isn't me---like--- I need to be a cool Russian beauty---" But wait, this was about Orin---sweet and cute little Orin who Olga was definitely getting mom feels for. Having been immersed in internet culture for the past 5 years, Olga found herself rapidly developing mother bird feelings for the young man across from her. He was...he was... he could be her little bby birb, and he needed support and advice! She was also just the person to give it! Then maybe in the future he could give her some dating advice, because she had 0 in that department. "Well, first, overalls can be totally sexy okay." Because she could just imagine Sergei in some, with no shirt on, and--- Wooooooah, okay, back to the topic. "But second---well---yanno---this is going to sound totally corny but---" She lowered her hands, grinning sheepishly, and rubbed the back of her head with her free hand. "At the end of the day, you can't be anyone else but you, yeah? And I've seen enough chick flicks to know that when you try to be someone you're not, it never works out!" Olga gave a sage nod. "Plus, Orin, if your girlfriend---Mille, right?---is as confident and knows what she wants as you say she is---she wanted you!" Olga grinned at him. "That means something, right?"
