This week was very much like last week; performances three days a week, teaching youngsters three times a week, and evening classes for adults two times a week, in addition to her composition and learning from her father how to run a theater. She’d moved on from her divorce and not seeing her son, found herself a lover who made her happy.. but she felt like she was in a rut.

She hadn’t really composed anything lately and her performances felt lacking to her.

Like todays! She sighed as she thought back over it.

It had been a joint performance; she’d been in the back on her Aejang while a pair of Shifters danced in front of her. The lighting and decorations upon the stage had been beautiful, the dancers graceful, the audience appreciative…. But her music had not been her best. Years of practice and the simplicity of the music meant she had not failed; it sounded lovely… but there’d been no magic. No feeling of being drawn into it, of feeling the dancers dance to her music, her heartbeat drowning in notes… Those had all been missing and as she packed up her stuff one of the dancers peeked in; the younger one.

“Senja are you okay? Today felt…. Off?” She asked hesitantly. Senja looked up and smiled.
“I’m okay.. but it was off today wasn’t it? Sorry for not putting my best forward for you two.” She apologized; she hated when she let people down!

The girl skipped into Senja’s dressing room and looked around. It was packed; various closest filled with the many outfits she’d worn over the long years of performing, instruments stored to the side; her backups in case something happened. The old vanity table with her makeup and mirror a little battered from her son’s childhood; all in all it was rather packed but Senja liked it that way.

“It was still good! Just not the usual. Tif and I were talking about it afterwards… I figured I’d come and see if you were alright!”

“Just not feeling it these days.” Senja sighed and stretched. “Maybe I should take a break…. Give the younger generation a chance!” She chuckled at that thought.

“Why not go and travel again?” Shilea asked curiously. “Didn’t you say that you wanted to go learn other tribes music?”

Senja paused and grinned; that would be perfect! “I did! Never really go around to it. The war and child put everything on the backburner…” She mused… Would Zimbasi be up for traveling?

“Plus theres that whole new island! Not that I would go there now with all the exremeists making a mess there.” She thougth out loud; “But its close to Matori so I could visit Oba and Matori and maybe some Yaelian’s would have ventured to our land and I could talk to them… hmm…”

Shilea giggled; “That’s more like you! Planning and smiling! Not this not feeling it music that isn’t your best! I prefer dancing when you’re into performing.”

Senja chuckled and nodded; she preferred being into it too!
Now she just needed to talk to her father, get replacements for her teaching and performing positions, and talk to Zimbasi! Basi she was sure would be down for it; he’d been mentioning wanting to return home and see his family… performers there were plenty of itching to move up and get some solo performances in… it was the teaching positions that would be harder to fill! Best I get started on it now then!
