the game
Each summer, twelve young adults from across the country are chosen to spend the summer living in a house in a strange city with each other on a television show called Welcome to the Real World. Cameras are constantly rolling as the contestants explore the city, fall in and out of love, and try to figure out life on their own. At the end of the week, contestants are required to visit the Diary Room where the production team asks them to comment on the week that has passed. At the end of the summer, the viewers vote to determine which of the twelve contestants will win a prize of one million dollars.
this summer
This summer, the show is set in the coastal city of Brookdale, North Carolina, compared to past seasons, the city is smaller, but it offers plenty of opportunity for days at the beach. The cast is evenly split between six girls and six boys between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five. The twelve contestants will learn how to live together, as well as complete various challenges throughout the course of the summer in an attempt to win a million dollars.
the twists
Originally, Welcome to the Real World featured young adults working together to figure out life together. As the show progressed, and viewing figures went down, the production team decided that they needed to spice things up a bit. First, was the introduction of a weekly Head of House. While the cast members still worked together to make decisions, the Head of House has the ultimate final say. The Head of House is selected through a quiz challenge.
The production team has also been known to introduce twists such as preventing the cast members from leaving the house for an entire day to playing pranks, to slightly more intense physical challenges. They seem to be willing to do anything to keep the ratings up.
what happens next?
Even if they don't win the cash prize at the end, contestants on the show have been known to go on to star in other reality shows, be on talk shows, and even become well known actors. Many young people see this as their shot at becoming a star!

house rules
i. housemates are to be recorded at all times through hidden cameras in the house (the only exception is the bathrooms) and camera crews whenever they leave the house.
ii. housemates are prohibited from leaving the house without notifying production.
iii. housemates are not to tamper with any of the recording devices in the house.
iv. housemates may not use alcohol or drugs.
v. housemates may not destroy the house, or any of their fellow housemates' belongings.
vi. housemates are not to physically, sexually, or verbally assault other housemates.

- If you need to be told at this point that you need to follow Gaia ToS and rules, then this roleplay probably isn't for you. Seriously.
- This means the roleplay is PG-13. Sexy times may happen. Time skip these scenes in the thread please! If you and the other person really wanna play it out, take it off-site.
- Swearing is fine. Just don't overdo it.
- Godmodding is lame. Don't do it. I have zero tolerance when it comes to that.
- This roleplay is part of the Gaia Roleplay Network. If you wish to join it, send me a PM!
literacy
- This is a lazy lit roleplay. If you're wondering what that means, it means you should be able to post at least three meaty paragraphs in one post.
- Quality over quantity though. Give us something to work with!
- Each post should push the story forward somehow. Don't be a wallflower!
- Third person, past tense please. Don't ask me to change it.
- Please proofread your posts. An occasional mistake is fine, but nobody wants to read through tons of spelling and grammar mistakes all the time.

- Your character is not perfect, but they aren't a total screw up either. No Mary Sues.
- I encourage you to create diverse characters. If I feel there are too many of a specific type of character, I may ask you to change your character.
