Divena
Belyy squinted up at the sky as he tried to figure out what time it was. It was morning, that much he was sure of. But was it early morning or late morning? He didn't want to leave until late morning, but he may have slept in that late to begin with... ah... then again, heading out in the early morning wouldn't matter much to him. Hmm... choices, choices...

Bardess Ookami
She stretched lightly as she walked, picking her way through the grasses, seeking slender shoots of her favorite small plants to eat. Somewhere in this area, she knew, dwelt a soquili who loved the flowers of dandelions and ate them danitly, leaving aside only the stems and leaves. This suited Eloria just fine, as she preferred the stems. She ate them carefully, in case someone preferred the leaves.

Early morning seemed the best time to find the shoots she desired, when they were bedecked with dew, so she was picking her way around, gently, carefully. She did not wish to trample any of the delicate shoots underhoof, after all.

Divena
Belyy heard the soft hoof falls of someone approaching not too far away. He turned his gaze away from the sky to see if it was a danger or a lovely mare and... it was a lovely mare. He grinned. "Well, hello!"

Bardess Ookami
"Hello," she said, amicably. "A good morn to you, good sir." She nodded her head with a warm smile.

Divena
His grin grew a bit wider. "A better morn now that you're here. Who might you be?" He was betting that she wasn't a local. Though... given that he wasn't a local either, that wasn't really a safe bet. Ah, but who wanted to play it safe?

Bardess Ookami
"I am Eliora, El to most people," she said gently with a warm smile, nodding her head. She was indeed a local, but since he did not ask, she did not offer the answer to him. "And you are...?"

Divena
"Belyy Tsvetok at your service," he said with an exaggerated bow. When he straightened, he continued to grin brightly at her. "What are you doing out and about on this fine morning?"

Bardess Ookami
"Looking for my breakfast," she said with a warm sunny smile. "Would you care to join me, mister Belyy Tsvetok?"

Divena
"Certainly," he chirpped. "I could always use a good breakfast. What would be on the menu today?"

Bardess Ookami
"Well, I am hunting for dandelion shoots myself, though if there is something you prefer, we can seek that first, if you wish."

Divena
"I'm flexible," he shrugged. "Though I'm fairly certain I passed a meadow not too long ago that was full of dandelions. Did you check there?"

Bardess Ookami
"Ah no, not as of yet, I have not. There is another in the area who rather likes the blooms, I try to find where he grazed the night before, and eat what he has left. If there are blooms enough for you to recognize it as a field of the flowers, then like as not, he has not yet been there."

Divena
"Unless of course he has and there were just too many for him to eat," Belyy pointed out. Why she didn't just ask the fellow where he'd been, the traveling stallion wasn't sure. However, there was likely a reason. Maybe he'd ask.

IM RP
Bardess Ookami
"That is possible," she admitted. "I never thought of that. If I cannot find shoots elsewhere this morn, I shall try there this afternoon. Thank you!"

Divena
"But... if you do that, won't you end up missing breakfast? It is, after all, the most important meal of the day. Why don't you ask this fellow where he's been so you know where to go?" He kept his tone curious though he was rapidly beginning to suspect the mare was a few flowers short of a field.

Bardess Ookami
"Well, yes, I would," she said, seeming a bit puzzled as to why that matters, "But it's hardly like i shall starve if I eat a littler later in the day, rather than just now. And I would ask him, if I'd any idea who he was. I see what he leaves behind, but I have never actually met him, that I know of."

Divena
She... had never actually met... "Then why does it matter if you eat the stems before he eats the leaves?" he asked, trying hard not to be exasperated. "For that matter, how do you know he hasn't just... moved on?"

Bardess Ookami
“Before he eats the flowers,” she clarified. “I would have to eat the flowers to get to the stems. If he enjoys the flowers more than I do, why shouldn’t I leave them for him?”

Divena
"But... you don't leave them for him. You take the stems after he's eaten the flowers. If you left the flowers, you'd be eating the stems first... wouldn't you?" Maybe he was being too picky about this.

Bardess Ookami
“The flowers rest upon the stems, without getting my mouth all over the flowers or uprooting them, how would I eat the stems and leave the flowers?”

Divena
That... was a very good point. Which he had a counter to.... he was just pausing for dramatic effect. Right. "You prefer dandelions, correct?"

Bardess Ookami
“generally, yes.”

Divena
"Don't they have... long stems?"

Bardess Ookami
“somewhat, I suppose. Why?”

Divena
"So... wouldn't it be easier to eat dandelion stems without eating the flowers?"

Bardess Ookami
“Not if I want to avoid the leaves.”

Divena
"I thought it was the flowers you wanted to avoid."

Bardess Ookami
“The flowers are his. The level get stuck in my teeth,” she said, as though this were the most obvious thing in the world

Divena
"Right... the flowers belong to someone you've never met," he repeated, deciding to ignore the comment about the leaves.

Bardess Ookami
“why is that so odd? Do I really seem so solipsistic that it confuses you that I might think of someone I;ve not met?”

Divena
”More that I can’t understand why you would make such concessions for someone you only assumes exist… How long has this fellow been around? Are you sure he lives hereabouts? Or maybe he’s just passing through. It might not even be one person. What if it’s a couple of foals who just like to pluck flowers for… whatever foals do?”

Bardess Ookami
“Whoever it is or whatever the reason, they take only the flowers. I won’t deny them. Or him. Or her.”

Divena
”But in the process, you’re denying yourself. Why?” That was what he really couldn’t understand.

Bardess Ookami
“Because someone else will befit.”

Divena
“You don’t know that for sure.”

Bardess Ookami
“It’s a reasonable enough assumption! why is this bothering you so much?”

Divena
“Because it doesn’t make sense!” He huffed. “You don’t know! It could be someone who… who… who steals treats from foals! It could be a skinwalker! It could be… a flirt. You just don’t know. It’s silly to change your own behavior for someone who might not even exist.”

Bardess Ookami
“It could be a healer who helped others and asks nothing in return. IT could be a wounded angeni stick here until his or her wing heals.”

Divena
“Alright, let’s pretend it is an angeni waiting to heal. What about when he or she leaves? How long will you hunt for flowerless flowers before you accept that they’re gone?”

IM RP
Bardess Ookami
“Perhaps several days. Perhaps more, perhaps less. I don’t know, why do I have to decide now?”

Divena
“What if the reason you can’t find these flowerless flowers is because it’s already happening? You could starve…” He wasn’t certain he cared at this point, but…

Bardess Ookami
“I have hardly even checked yet for the day!”

Divena
“The day is half gone already, and you haven’t eaten yet!” Okay, so the morning wasn’t even half gone, but still.

Bardess Ookami
“It’s still midmorning!”

Divena
"Details," he scoffed.

Bardess Ookami
“DETAILS?!”

Divena
“Yeah, details. As in minor details that aren’t important to this discussion.” Yes, he was aware that he was being illogical. Right then, however, he didn’t care. She wasn’t being particularly logical either.

Bardess Ookami
“Oh, so the facts that support my argument are details and worthless, and unimportant, but the opinions that support your side are facts to be respected. I’m sorry, did you mistake me for your wife?”

Divena
“I don’t have a mate, and before you scoff and lament on the oddness of that, I’d like to point out that it’s my choice,” Belyy sniffed. “And you’re not making sense. I don’t have to make sense if you’re not making sense.”

Bardess Ookami
“I am making perfect sense,” she snapped. “You are not,.”

Divena
“You’re mistaken, my lady,” he said, through his teeth. “I was making sense. You have yet to make sense.”

Bardess Ookami
“I have been making sense this whole time, you’ve just been too greedy to understand.”

Divena
“Greedy?” he stared at her. “How have I been greedy? You’re the one talking about imaginary friends!”

Bardess Ookami
“you’re the one who decided that anyone you don’t know isn’t worth being considerate towards!”

Divena
“People I haven’t met,” he corrected. “Ones I’ve never seen. Ones I have no way of knowing if they actually exist. You’re being considerate toward nothing!”

Bardess Ookami
“Yes, the flowers just vanish! Is that what you’re presupposing?!”

Divena
“Maybe! Maybe it’s rabbits! In which case, they don’t care if they eat flowers or not, they just eat what is easiest to access! Did you ever think that maybe they wanted to come back for the stems, and you’ve deprived them of that? Maybe you should just stop eating altogether!”

Bardess Ookami
“Please let me know when you’ve decided to be sensible,” she said sitting on the grass, as though she were preparing to sleep.

Divena
He stared at her for a long moment then shook his head. He knew a brick wall when he saw it. He didn’t need to keep banging his head against it. With a muttered grumble, he left the mare where she had settled.

Bardess Ookami
She shook her head with a gentle sigh and walked in a different direction, reclaiming the beauty of the day for herself, and smiling warmly in the sun. She fund a few beheaded dandelions which brightened her mood as she delicately moved to eat the stems. Like good things, bad things were ephemeral, and she chose to let this one go as best she could, and focus on the taste of the stems, the blueness of the sky and the sweet scents in the air.

Divena
Lorimer studied a flower critically. It was a vibrant pink, very much like his own hair, but was that wasn't why he found it so fascinating. He was debating picking the flower or not. On the one hand, it would look magnificent in his mane... on the other, he was fairly certain that it was just across the line that Kyad had figuratively drawn in his "what is and is not safe" boundaries. To pick the flower or to keep his brother's sanity in check... choices, choices...

Bardess Ookami
She looked up, enjoying a mouthful of stems, when she saw him. For a moment, she considered being irritated. After the last male... but no, she let that male drift away as she swallowed. She refused to get hung up on those who left her, for good or ill. She smiled warmly at the pensive stallion. “Good morn to you,” she said, inclining her head gently, letting her hair slip over one shoulder.

Divena
He glanced up at her, startled at the voice, then graced her with his brightest, most cheerful smile. He was getting better at hiding what he really felt behind the smiles. "Good morn, lovely lady!"

IM RP
Bardess Ookami
Lovely? Well then. “Would you be the one, perhaps, that favors the heads of the dandelions above all else?” she asked. She was irritated with herself, for asking. She refused to let that irritation show, however, so she kept smiling prettily, as if charmed.

Divena
Dandelions? He glanced at the plants around her hooves and noticed they were without the flowers, and the stems were disappearing as well. He gave her an apologetic smile. “While I enjoy the heads of flowers, I fear dandelions are not to my tastes most days. Were you looking for a fellow with a fondness of dandelions?”

Bardess Ookami
“never mind,” she said with a shake of her head and a warm smile. “Consider it a whim of the morning, as frail as a puff of wind and gone as quickly.”

Divena
”Oh, I do like whims… perhaps you could help me with one of my own,” he suggested, keeping his tone light and charming. “See this blossom here?”

Bardess Ookami
She trotted closer, trustingly and nodded. “I do indeed, it is lovely. It would look quite nice in your hair, I think,” she informed him with a warm smile. “Though having sampled those before, I do not find them all that tasty myself, if that is what you are asking about.”

Divena
”I was actually thinking of using it for decoration… but do you think it worth it?” he pondered the flower again. “I would have to snuff out the life of the flower for a day or two of ornamentation…”

Bardess Ookami
“Life is ephemeral,” she said softly. “If you do not pluck it, someone will eat it, or step on it, or pluck it themselves. Something with the beauty of a flower never lasts overlong, so it is best to enjoy it while it is here, is it not? To respect the beauty of it by appreciating it.”

Divena
”Ah, but I can appreciate it by simply looking at it, can I not? And there’s another slight problem. You see, the flower is just beyond my reach.”

Bardess Ookami
“beyond your reach?” she asked, frowning slightly for the first time. “re you tethered somehow? A prisoner? Do you need aid? Assistance?” Why the open sky wouldn’t he have started with that, if he was.

Divena
The dramatic side of him peeked out and he sighed heavily. “Tethered, yes, though not by rope or chain. You see, there’s a kind tyrant who has forbidden me from leaving his territory… and the flower is about a foot beyond the invisible line.”

Bardess Ookami
“A tyrant?” she asked, startled and alarmed. “What has he threatened you with if you disobey? How can I help?”

Divena
”He’s threatened me with the most horrible of threats!” Lori told her, seemingly earnest. “He’s threatened to tell all the lovely ladies my most embarrassing secrets… the fiend!” he let out a sob that was so comically dramatic no one could mistake it for being genuine.

Bardess Ookami
“wait... what?” she asked, frowning a bit more. “Now I am quite confused,” she confessed. “What exactly is going on?”

Divena
”My apologies, lovely lady,” Lori grinned at her impishly. “In simpler terms, my brother is highly protective and wishes me to stay within his own territory.”

RP Log
Bardess Ookami
“...Oh....” she said. She didn’t know how to reply to that. She didn’t have any brothers or sisters that she knew of, and certainly no one had ever been protective of her. So she wasn’t quite sure how to handle it. She didn’t know that she could tell him to be glad someone loved him without inviting him to pry. So she smiled instead, and offered, “would you like me to fetch it for you, then?” There was of course, always the possibility that he was trying to lure her closer for some nefarious reason, but she rather doubted that. There was no point.

Divena
He grinned at the suggestion. “That is certainly one way you could help me. But that would be inviting you, an unknown threat, into my brother’s territory. I’m not sure which he would consider worse… he’s a bit odd that way.”

Bardess Ookami
“I could pluck the flower and toss it to you,” she pointed put. She thought this whole thing was a rather ridiculous, but she was too polite to say as much. She didn’t understand why people were concerned about protecting anyone, anyway. After all, life itself was ephemeral

Divena
”You certainly could… but doing so could damage the flower,” he pointed out, reasonably.

Bardess Ookami
It seemed to be a day for irritating males. Well, she refused to be irritated. Instead she simply walked over to stand beside him, and glanced back. “And now i’m in his territory, without you having allowed me to do a thing,” she said simply. “Now, did you want the flower, or shall I be on my way?”

Divena
”I still haven’t decided on the flower,” he admitted, cheerfully. “However, I am enjoying your company quite a bit. Since you’re here, why don’t you stay?”

Bardess Ookami
She gave a small shrug with her front haunches. “If you wish, I could stay for a time,” she said with a small smile. After all, he would leave before too long, she could be kind to anyone for a time. She could find joy in nearly any interaction. For a time. But nothing lasted so long she could not find enjoyment in it.

Divena
”That would be wonderful!” Lori agreed, still cheerfully, though he wondered what corner he’d painted himself into. “If you don’t mind, of course.”

IM RP
Bardess Ookami
“I do not mind,” she said with a warm smile. “What can we do that your brother would accept?” she asked with another smile.

Divena
”Oh, nearly nothing,” Lori chuckled. “He’s worse than a mother hen, that one. But perhaps we could start with introductions. I am Lorimer, however you may call me Lori, lovely lady.”

Bardess Ookami
“I am Elinora, You may call me anything that pleases you, Lori,” she said with a simple regal nod

Divena
”I would prefer to call you something that pleases you,” He continued smiling.

Bardess Ookami
“I am fairly easy going,” she replied with a smile. “I can find pleasure in very nearly anything.”

Divena
”That, my angel, sounds an awful lot like a challenge,” Lori couldn’t help the chuckle. “I like you, though, so I shall endeavor to resist taking you up on that.”

Bardess Ookami
“see that you do,” she said with a small smile.

Divena
”So, darling Eloria, I fear I must ask the oh so common question… are you from these parts or are you passing through? And please, indulge my curiosity… what’s with the dandelions?” That was something that had been needling at him since she first asked.

Bardess Ookami
“I meander, though I have been from this area for some time now. I will move on at some point, I am sure. Though clearly I could not have been here long, if this is the edge of your brother’s holdings and we’ve not yet met,” she said with a warm smile, wondering if he would notice that she had failed to answer his question about the dandelions. She’d rather not have that argument again if she could avoid it. She was not in the habit of apologizing for her curtesy.

Divena
”It’s unsurprising that we haven’t met, really,” Lori admitted with a sheepish grin. “My brother and I were from this area… when we were much younger. We wandered off for a bit when we grew older and have only recently come home in the last few… ah… months.” And that was about all he was comfortable saying on that topic.

Bardess Ookami
“What was this land like when you were little?” she asked, with actual curiosity. She had never been in one place long enough to see a land change. Had that been long enough that he would see anything different? Would there be a story there? Should she revisit places she had been? No... better to not.

Divena
He thought back to when he was younger and smiled faintly. It was a genuine smile, softer somehow than the ones he’d been gracing her with before. “It was bigger… wilder… Or maybe we were just younger and more naive. There’s more trees now, I think. More plants.”

Bardess Ookami
“Is it a good change, then?” she asked, looking around, trying to envision that. She tried to see this place as wider and wilder. She wondered what flowers there had been then, of any.

Divena
”Hmm… I wonder…. Perhaps. Then again, maybe not,” he hedged. He missed the innocence of his youth that had turned the small territory into a world of imagination. But at the same time, he appreciated the warmth of home that came after traveling.

IM RP
Bardess Ookami
“Well, what are some of the best new things you see here? now?” she asked, looking around. She didn’t mind sharing her cheer and joy with others.

Divena
”The flowers,” Lori answered, immediately, studying them. “They hadn’t bloomed yet when I last left.”

Bardess Ookami
“The flowers are lovely,” she said, “and it is a lot of fun to spend time among them, is it not?”

Divena
The flowers were a reminder of what he had lost. He turned a too cheerful smile on her. “I much prefer the forest.”

Bardess Ookami
“The forest is lovely too,” she said. “tall strong trees, beautiful bird song.”

Divena
”Yes, yes,” he agreed, considering nudging her away from the flowers and into the trees. “Perhaps a walk to admire those strong trees?”

Bardess Ookami
“And your brother would not mind, my intruding further into the land he protects?” he said.

Divena
”If he protests, I will simply have to take the blame for inviting such a lovely and enchanting lady such as yourself. Though I doubt he will complain.” In front of her, anyway. Later, when he could skin Lori alone, he might.

Bardess Ookami
“If you wish to take the risk, then who am I to say no?” she asked simply. She did not mind the flirting, nor did it turn her head. He was a temporary in her life, after all, so why should she care one way or the other about such things?

Divena
”Then let us walk,” Lori chirped, heading into the forest. He was careful to keep his pace slow and leisurely so she could meander next to him. “And don’t think I haven’t noticed your lack of answers to my questions, lovely dove.”

Bardess Ookami
She walked along side him, tail swishing presently to keep off any early afternoon insects. “you ask so many questions, it’s hard to choose which to answer,” she said simply. “What have I neglected, precisely?”

Divena
”Most recently, you evaded the question of if you would like to go for a walk. Before that I recall you avoiding the topic of dandelions… should I go on?”

Bardess Ookami
“I was under the impression that we are now going for a walk,” she said with a small chuckle. “Doesn’t that provide the answer enough. And yes, please. i can hardly address all the issues, if I have lost track of them. Unless you would prefer I address the topic of the dandelions first?”

Divena
”I think we should address them one at a time, so you don’t ‘forget’ again,” he said pleasantly. “Starting with the dandelions.”

Bardess Ookami
“alright, the long answer or the shorter one? Please note that neither is short, one is simply shorter.”

Divena
”Whichever the lady desires.”

Bardess Ookami
“Alright then,” she said with a small hint of a smile, glancing at him sidelong. “But if it is my choice, then it will forever be your private amusement to figure out which I chose. The long or the not quite so long version. Are you sure you can live with that?”

Divena
He grinned a bit. “I look forward to the puzzle and story both, my lady.”

Bardess Ookami
She grinned a bit. “Well then.” She chose to see the humor in the story, or at least, she intended to try. “I discovered some time ago, you see, that someone in this area, or rather, back in the area where I was when we met, who had eaten the tops off of countless dandelions. So I decided to try what was left behind. I enjoyed the stems, but not the leaves, so I had a feast of dandelion stems. And the next day, more headless dandelions.” she smiled warmly. “It’s been an on-going thing for a while now, really. Longest I’ve ever stayed to one area.” Which was nice in a way... but that same feeling of it being nice was why she needed to move on soon. She couldn’t let herself forget the ephemeral nature of life. Settling in was too much of a risk, could hurt too much. She gave him a warm smile, wondering if she should finish the story, or leave it there.

Divena
He listened as she spoke, curious. When she paused, he smiled encouragingly at her. “I assume, given your question when we met, that you haven’t met the lover of dandelion flowers?” he guessed.

Bardess Ookami
“No, not quite,” she said with a warm smile. “And honestly, it might be more fun perhaps if I do not, you know? That mystery in the air, like the scent of leaves in autumn.” And speaking of autumn, “besides, it won’t last too much longer. A few months at most. A spring and summer memory, a bit of fun. But the colder winds of autumn and winter will replace the dandelions with pretty snow falls and cold clear skies that let you see stars for eternity. And by the time summer rolls around once more, I’ll have moved on, or he will, or we both will. So, I shall enjoy the stems while I have them.” She smiled. “And perhaps no longer ask people if they know who eats the flowery heads off of them to leave me my feast.” Yeah. She was going to avoid telling about Belyy. Best to do that, and stay calm, after all.

Divena
He listened as she finished her little speech and grinned a bit. “I like that,” he decided. “The mystery of it all… Why, I bet he’s noticed that you like the stems, and is eating the flowers where he knows you’ll find them. Just as a special treat, just for you.”

Bardess Ookami
"Perhaps,” she said, though she chose not to think that way. She might be tempted to get attached, or think fondly of the person. She shook her head lightly. “and perhaps not. I suppose I shall never know.” and it was better that way, really. “So,” she asked with a smile. “What other questions have I been avoiding answering, do you think? What else can I clarify for you, oh wishy-washy one?” she asked with a teasing grin. There was a beauty in temporary comradere.

Divena
”Wishy-washy one?” he repeated, both startled and amused by the… oddly… accurate nickname. He laughed a bit. At least she wasn’t threatening to hit him. Most would be at this point. Maybe he was losing his touch. Hmm… would that worry Kyad or bring him relief?

Bardess Ookami
“Yes, fishy washy one,” she said with a teasing smirk. “should I pluck the flow shouldn’t I pluck the flower. Should I pluck the flower, shouldn’t I. Should I tick off my brother, shouldn’t I tick off my brother? Should I leave his territory, shouldn’t I leave the territory,” she mimicked, but with a small smile. “I’d call that rather wishy washy, would you not agree? Would you have another thing to call it, perhaps?”

Divena
”I would have gone with indecisive, myself,” he said with exaggerated indignity. He even tossed his head, causing his curls to bounce chaotically as he lifted his notes in pretend arrogance. “Or perhaps caution… calculation, even, taking in every possible…” he cracked up suddenly. “Nope, can’t finish that sentence with a straight face. Wishy washy… I rather like that.”

Bardess Ookami
She had been starting to get concerned that he was actually offended or hurt, though she hadn’t thought he was. She was unsure, and just beginning to worry if she had gone too far when he cracked up. She grinned, and even laughed with him a little. She was relieved, as well as amused. She grinned at him a bit. “good then, it suits you,” she informed him, primly.

Divena
”It does, doesn’t it?” he asked, not bothering to hide his pleasure this time. There was even a bit of pride in his tone and the grin he flashed her.

Bardess Ookami
She chuckled a bit and nodded. There was beauty to this moment, and she fully intended to enjoy it. “Yes, it rather does,” she said cheerfully. She almost considered asking him what would suit her. Almost. But she wasn’t sure that she could take his answer with the same grace that he took the one she gave to him about him, so she did not. She figured that she would let him answer her question... or not. If she didn’t get an answer about what it was she had failed to answer about then she can make him answer about her answer...um... wait... what?

Divena
Lori smiled a bit. “Back to the topic at hoof?” he asked, cheerfully. “You didn’t tell me what you prefer to be called.”

“That was what you were holding on to?” she asked, a bit dumbfounded. Really? Why in the world would that even still be in his head. “I honestly have no preference, I could have sworn I said that...”

Divena
”No, you merely told me to call you whatever I wish… which brings me to the next question you evaded. You didn’t actually say if you wanted to go on this walk or not.”

Bardess Ookami
“Are you one for whim everything must be said plainly? I would think that I had answered both of those questions sufficiently already.”

Divena
”You actually hadn’t answered either of them originally,” he corrected. “You evaded, deferring to me and allowing me to make the choice on your behalf.” That actually made her sound somewhat indecisive as well, he realized. Or perhaps more passive… ah, but he was enjoying the conversation too much to say so.

Bardess Ookami
Moreso passive. Far moreso passive. “I said that I really have no preference on what you call me, though knowing you better now, I do reserve the rights intrinsic to veto power. As to walking, we are walking, had i not been willing to walk, I would not have followed you. I know my own mind, thank you, sir wishy-washy. I am neither a sheep nor a lemming, I do as I feel I ought, because I feel I ought, not because someone else starts an activity. I am in no way compelled to join in any given activity.”

Divena
”I believe you, my dear,” he chirped, still maintaining his cheerful demeanor. He seemed to have succeeded in upsetting her even though he was actually trying not to. “I’m simply saying that you avoided answering the questions by not choosing.”

Bardess Ookami
“In the second case, the walk, I did choose. for the first, it is like asking me if I prefer a blue sky or a grey one. My choice in the matter, well, frankly, doesn’t. Matter, that is.”

Divena
”Your choice, darling, always matters,” Lori corrected. “If you don’t have an opinion, that’s one thing. But it still matters…” He shook his head slightly, suddenly feeling as though he’d had this argument with someone before.

Bardess Ookami
She gave a bright smile. “Having an opinion on certain topics only means that one is going to be upset or disappointed at some point. I had no need to feel strongly about what I am called, for like it or not, I shall at some point be called every possible thing. Given that, it is simply easier and more rewarding to have no preference whatsoever and to enjoy whatever comes.”

Divena
That… sounded an awful lot like not caring to avoid being hurt. Which, now that he thought about it, was basically what she said. “If that’s what makes you happy…”
