In a corner of the market is a circle marked off by strangely pristine white stones. Of course, they're a little hard to see over the crowd of spectators, not all of which seem at all entertained.

A yellow and white acha wearing a crown of gleaming golden laurels beckons you forward. "What, have we found ourselves another winner?" She winks. "I sure hope so!"

What exactly is going on here? It looks like she and a black kiokote are setting up animal fights, and rewarding participants with tokens. Uh...well. Might as well give it a try?

OOC
ANNOUNCEMENT:

Hi everyone! We know it's a little unfair to retroactively ban people, but we've already posted a warning once, and there's still been a lot of gory violence in this thread! Please remember that even though we've got a legendary on board, Matope is still pretty realistic when it comes to healing - breaking an animal's neck or limb will put it out of play, which we don't want. Your kin will be banned from further play if we see any more examples of such violence (although you can try later with a different kin). Please, please be more careful. Thanks for understanding!

To quote official RP guidelines:
Mind the intentions of the ORP creator. In ORPs with a fatal slant (the Flood ORP for example), acknowledgment of the carnage is fine and expected, even if actual contribution probably isn't. In general or lighthearted ORPs, please do not disrupt the setting with excessive or intense violence or actions that would otherwise completely derail the surrounding action. Remain respectful of the creator and your fellow players.

Our front page has always stated that the purpose of fights in this booth are to subdue the animal, deadly or incapacitating violence being discouraged (for both OOC and IC reasons). The excessive violence in this thread has been upsetting other players and we'd like to make our booth a fun place for all.

It looks like the duo has coerced (or, uh, captured) eight animals to fight. They're currently guarded by a navy-colored legendary kimeti. She has...a lot of eyes. It's a little intimidating! Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you'll get to pick your opponent. Let's hope the MotherFather's smiling on you!

In your first post, please roll 1d8 (one eight-sided die) to see what animal your kin will be facing today.

            1. the boar - This guy's a bruiser. You probably don't want to mess with it. -1 to your roll.
            2. the caiman - Whose great idea was it to pit innocent kin against this creature? -3 to your roll.
            3. the pangolin - It's armored and spiky, but it seems too lazy to be a particularly vicious contender. +6 to your roll.
            4. the eaglehound - Aww, puppy! It's playtime!...wait. This one's received a bit of training, hasn't it? +2 to your roll.
            5. the giant wasp - So the stinger's a little intimidating, but the front half is approachable...right? +6 to your roll.
            6. the lynx - This lady's a predator. But...you might have a bit of a leg up on her. +4 to your roll.
            7. the foxbun - How can anyone bear to fight this face? Look at this pudgy baby! +8 to your roll.
            8. the swan - Oh, how lovely! Look at...how wide that wingspan i - oh s**t. -1 to your roll.

Wait! Where are you going? You haven't even fought it yet! Think of the glory.

To fight, make another post and roll 2d10 (two ten-sided dice). The first die represents how well the animal did. Tremble in fear, puny mortal kin! The second die represents how well you did - but wait! Remember to add your modifier from the table above. Next, compare the two numbers. If the second number (yours!) is greater than the familiar's, well, you win a token! If your number is lower...well. Maybe you can try again tomorrow!

If you've somehow tied, you'll be granted the win.

Fill your fighting posts with relevant RP, and you're done! As an added bonus, reaching 500 words at this booth will allow you to count it as a legendary requirement! (Once per kin only.)

Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), the crew only seems willing to let you attempt once per day. Maybe you can train for tomorrow's match!

Death in the Afternoon seems only too eager to give an example for his audience, stepping into the ring of stones with the usual showkin stance that came so naturally to him: chin up and chest puffed, legs stiff and horns gleaming. His combatant? An eaglehound set before him, hackles raised and teeth bared. Gleaming too, perhaps, but not as gloriously.

Breaking his stance, Bloodsport sets into a charge -- a small one, aiming more just to headbutt the hound into a KO rather than a full-on gore because goodness there are foals watching, but adrenaline has his enemy acting fast, too. It springs fearlessly towards the scrawny kiokote, and for a moment they are both simply blurs to the crowd, heading for a collision course into an explosion of sound:

That's Bloodsport's shocked bellow, as the eaglehound latches onto his snout and turns them into a single wriggling entity. The kiokote is tossing his head, the eaglehound is refusing to budge; in fact, it's pulling back! "B-Beastfighting at its finest," Bloodsport still somehow manages to (rather nasally) boast to onlookers, even as his red eyes roll towards Lily and Last Night in silent signal that, hey okay, might be a little in over his head here.

It's alright, though. The hound breaks away with a snarl and cringes towards the edge of the ring. Bloodsport recovers quickly, high-stepping his way to the other edge. He's laughing even as blood flows from his gouged nose. "Yep, we've got them all warmed up for you!"

When it is clear that Bloodsport is the loser, in as much as one can lose in an unofficial round, Last Night takes the initiative to step into the ring to prevent any further bloodshed. She turns all six of her eyes on the poor hound that has just turned the kiokote's snout into torn flesh and dripping blood. It snarls, but she stares it down, her gaze cool, assertive, unaffected by the other creature's hostility. Perhaps it is the touch of the MotherFather or just the general unnerving nature of her gaze, now all the more unsettling for her many eyes, but the hound does not take a charge at her. Instead, it allows itself to be backed out of the ring and into its makeshift holding pen held together by spider silk.

When she gets it sitting on its haunches, she allows a gentle, disquieting smile, so gentle it becomes almost unkind. She bends to touch it softly with her nose and it shivers under her touch, but it makes no sound. It stays even when she steps away, heading back to her standing place to watch the proceedings and prevent any undue damage to animal or kin.

Death in the Afternoon (Soldier of Song), Lily (thyPOPE), and Last Night (Amorpheous) are all available for interaction if you quote the appropriate player.

Amorpheous will occasionally select participants for particularly impressive RP (win or lose) and draw free art of the relevant kin. Furthermore, each OOC week thyPOPE will select one loser, as well one kin who's won against the caiman, for a doodle of their kin. Selection criteria is based on Pope's/Soldier's amusement.

Keep in mind that the purpose is to subdue the animal - fighting it to death is not required, expected, or desired. Mostly because that'd mean Lily and Bloodsport would need to go capture another one, ugh.

It wasn't hard to rile this kiokote up for a throw down - it was everything he was as a creature. He was even aptly named 'Fight Me'. So, in normal fashion, he sauntered forward, willingly allowing himself to go up whatever they would throw at him.

Except that it was a pangolin.

Oh, they were rather tough, he would admit, with their natural shield, (and if you were lucky, disposition,) but it seemed that this one was . . . lackluster. He hoped this wouldn't be too much of a gimmick - how that would look on his record would be unfortune.

Settling down in to a fighter's stance, the purple kio sized up his little battler, who seemed to have wizened up to it's situation - a small twinkle in it's eye showing it was more keen than it appeared. A novice may have missed it, but not this brute. Snorting softly, he went to rush forward, hoping to catch it off guard before it could shield itself naturally.

A few sure hops and a push forward, Fight Me rushed head down, attempting to crash in to the creature, who appeared none the wiser, until the last moment. A soft crunch of followed in suit, but it felt incorrect, and gravelly - which made the fighter pull back. He had only scraped the ground a little, and turning sharply, caught the little creature skittering away behind him, readying some kind of pitiful attack.

Gnashing it's teeth angrily, the pangolin rushed forward, targeting one of the kio's legs - as if it wanted to cripple him and get it over with - but Fight Me was not having it today. Stomping around like some kind of merry little jig, he dodged the little s**t's teeth, bearing his own, (which, with the illusion o f his pelt markings, appeared to stretch his face.) It probably looked stupid, and he felt a little stupid, but it was easier to dodge the creature until it could tire, than face sharp, pointy little shitty teeth and a potential loss due to such.

Feeling a connection with one of his forelegs, he watched as something rocketted away from him, which made the kio look down at his legs. It had disappeared . . . no, he had somehow punted it away from him, momentarily.

                                      G-Go team.

Taking a moment to collect himself, he found the little fighter getting ready to attack again, keen on at least trying to take down such a large brute (in his eyes), Fight Me decided that this little farce was over with. Holding his ground, he waited for the creature to fumble back towards him - the previous hit had taken the air out of it rather easily, and when it had reached head location, he quickly flicked his head down, and then up again, punting and flinging the creature back, hearing it's hard shell connect with his horns.

As the creature hit the ground, a moment later, he could see that it was over - he was the victor, as the poor creature could barely catch it's breath after flying twice in one day, (something that they should not do, naturally.)

"You fight well." He admitted, going to shake the stars from his eyes - pangolin shells hurt.

On Your Behalf saunters in and checks out the competition. He's pretty sure he can handle it, but he's never fought anything but a kin before. Surely an animal wouldn't be that hard... right?

Pangolin - 7
Behalf - 6 + 6 = 12

The pangolin laid into Behalf's foot, and scratched his leg up pretty bad, enough to make him squeal and kick the poor creature off of him.

It bit pretty hard, Behalf would give it THAT. But it only sufficed to make him angry, rather than deter him. He laid down a whoopin', stomping the poor thing in a rickety squiggle before puffing his nose at it haughtily. "You'll have to bite me harder than that," he snarked, and kicked a little dust on it with his back feet. He puckered his lip and looked around the ring at the others, some getting a pretty nasty beating from some of the other creatures. He flicked an ear at them, interested.

"Okay, perhaps I will come again later, and fight something else, maybe with a bit more of challenge." He nodded to the acha once elegantly, and scooted himself on out.

Swan: 4
Butterfly Kiss: 2 -1 = 1

Butterfly Kiss didn't know why, but as soon as he saw the gorgeous swan exit, he lost any will to try fighting. "My beautiful fowl, perhaps we can not fight but - OH MOTHERFATHER!"

The swan was going to have NONE of it and flew into a rage so vile and feathery that Butterfly Kiss skittered out of the ring and into the trees.

Well if he got his nerve back there was always tomorrow.

Gathering Clouds heard there was a gathering this winter and he was curious to see what all he could learn, before heading back to Rise and Shine, that is. Stepping near the group, he found they were fighting...them? Shrugging, Gathering prayed he would survive against the stronger animals.

Swan: 9
Gathering Clouds: 3 -1 = 2
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Well that was a disgrace. A swan...A swan gracefully and, he must say, beautifully beat him. Gathering Clouds figured it was more because he was tired from the excitement of the gathering.

He walked away with his head held high, for tomorrow he would be ready. If he didn't get distracted, first.
