It took Gulliver a long while to be ready to admit to anyone he liked Kishi, let alone Kishi herself. He knew she'd been sleuthing it out and far as he knew hadn't yet figured it out. He decided to play along with her sleuthing to admit it. His first step was to go and pick a few of the same pink flowers he'd left for Kishi in the past. Then he figured out 4 simple clues, well he was sure they'd be simple enough. He wrote each of them onto a small pink piece of parchment and wrapped them around the stem of four of the flowers not far from the bud.
As ready as Gulli felt he also was nervous, what if she didn't feel the same way, he was sure he'd feel crushed... well here was to hoping. He gathered the first of the flowers with a clue on it and two more without and slipped towards her nook, he set them down and then left to plant the other 3 near the other the other locations, entwining them in the climbing ivy or in planters. He settled at the location last clue led to, putting a flower pot in front of him and hoped.Quote: My dearest sleuth, a little puzzle for you to help you solve a mystery. ~ Clue Giver

Kishi sat by herself at a table in the Leaky Acorn, buried in her surveillance notes and journals. She was gonna find this secret strawberry harvester or die trying! This investigation had consumed all of her free time, even putting her other mysteries on the back burner.
After she shoved all of her stuff back into her bag, she stuffed one last cookie in her mouth and started out. She was so focused and lost in her train of thought that she didn't see her friend enter the pub carrying a familiar potted flower. But she did notice just enough to give a little wave and say hi to Gulliver on her way out.
The pink faun was tired and looking forward to a little nap back at her nook. She hadn't been fully concentrating, so she tripped over the flower and note on her Welcome mat. Her bag flew across the room and smacked against the back wall, busting open and spreading all of her papers everywhere. She rolled over while rubbing her knees to see what huge thing she must of tripped over. Overwhelming embarrassment flooded her body and she quickly peeked out the door to make sure no one saw that display. She yoinked the flower into her apartment and quickly shut the door, turning the lock.
Kishi leaned against the back of her door and looked at the flower. It was just like the flowers from that field she visited with Gulliver. At first, when she saw who signed the note, she could have sworn it said, "Gulliver" and not "Clue Giver" and she laughed.
She looked up at the disarray and sighed. So much for a nap. While twirling the flower between two fingers, she considered her options. Clean or take the bait. This "Clue Giver" knew how to intrigue her, and catch her attention. She couldn't resist a good mystery. Heck, she was still trying to figure out a fake mystery from months ago.
"Okay, I'll bite."
There weren't many places that offered options for dressing up, so it was a fairly easy clue to decipher. Phiona's boutique was the only place in the Tree that offered anything, really. With flower in hand, and the note in the other, she trekked back down to the main floor and headed to the clothier.

Gulliver saw Kishi and gulped slightly but then inwardly sighed in relief when it appeared she didn't notice what he was carrying. She seemed pre-occupied and he hoped that didn't mean she was going to be too preoccupied to play the treasure hunt he'd set up. The clothier was definitely the correct path and entwined in some climbing vines near the door, there was a flower tucked into the vines. On it, another note... When Kishi arrived at Phiona's Clothing Emporium, she ducked inside but didn't' see why she was directed there. There was nothing out of the ordinary. But, since she was there anyway, she shopped a little bit, looking through the selection of beautiful scarves and antler dangles. She decided a cute little pair of rose earrings after a while of browsing and waiting to see if anything happened.
When nothing happened, she got bored and just paid for her earrings and left. She stood outside and sighed, thinking this was optimal nap time being wasted. Out of the corner of her eye though, she caught a flash of pink among the green vines on the wall. Looking closer, Kishi noticed that flower had a note, just like the one she will forever pretend she never tripped over.
"Sleuthing might be fun, but nothing beats the power of knowledge."
The clothing emporium turned out to be a dud, so maybe the next location will prove fruitful. Maybe this little wild goose chase she was on would lead her to the strawberry pilferer!
Kishi shuffled on over to the library, but didn't see anything on the wall, so she went inside.

Gulliver ordered a drink while he waited, the longer it took the more nervous he was becoming. He made himself promise though that he'd see this through, he had to know if she felt anything too or if he should just call himself dumb. He'd already waited so long to tell her the truth that it was time he did tell her.
True nothing was in the climbing ivy this time, inside nestled amongst the flowers in a vase on the librarian's desk was the next flower. He'd already explained to the librarian he was conducting a small treasure hunt and gotten her ok to put it there. Quote: Here we stand to listen, important information given. Here we sit to celebrate, joining of faun seen.

The library was quiet this day. As it should be. Kishi walked in, not knowing what to expect. Whatever it was, it obviously wouldn't jump out and yell 'surprise!' at her in a library. So she was dealing with something quiet. Quick glances yielded no results so the young fauness strolled through the library, glancing up and down each shelf. Nothing jumped out at her.
Frowning, she found one of the big comfy pillow-chairs vacant so she plopped down and leaned back. She unrolled both of the notes and compared them, and thought hard about them. And wondered what they had to do with the library.
"First Phiona's. Then the Library. Why send me to those places? There wasn't anything at the clothing emporium...""SHHH!" Kishi lifted her head and lay her ears flat, "sorry!" she whispered back towards the librarian.
Back to her thoughts, she still couldn't find the connection. She compared the handwriting and the flowers, drawing a few theories. But she didn't want to jump to conclusions just yet.
While pondering and putting pieces together, her exhaustion caught up with her and she ended up dozing off in the big pillow-chair.

The librarian knew who was coming to get the clue, or at least should be, she took the flower from the vase after she noticed the fauness had dozed off. On her way past Kishi towards a shelf to put books away she set the flower gently atop Kishi's papers. She'd nudge the fauness awake on her way back to the desk if the fauness hadn't woken by the time she was done putting away her cart of books. Antidia lol only thing I could think of doing XD

The little pink roses joined leaves (hands) and danced around the fruit-stripe faun singing and teased her. They would wave little rolled notes and play keep away from her. Then a giant deer came stomping through the field of flowers. It stomped right down on her and when it lifted its hoof, she was covered in mud. When the mud dripped away, she found herself in shackles. She opened her mouth to scream but no sound came out. Her mouth had disappeared. The flattened and now dead pink roses sprung up like zombies and started chasing the bound fauness. She tripped, and went face first into a pile of giant deer---
She woke with a start at the nudge from the library worker. She blinked rapidly and rubbed the sleep from her eyes before giving a good stretch. "Well that was an awful dream. Glad I woke when I did..." She looked in her lap and saw another rose with a note on it.
Maybe these roses weren't such a good thing afterall. Someone has to be stalking her to know she was here and then dropped this in her lap while she slept. Kishi shuddered slightly, and gulped. She expected the note to tell her to go sit and wait in the pit fire or something. Her mind obviously had not shaken loose of the bizarre dream world.
"Here we stand to listen, important information given. Here we sit to celebrate, joining of faun seen."
She thought about it, and a stab of fear hit her heart. It better not be another friggen wife contest, if she's being requested to the meeting dais again.
Kishi got on her feet and yawned with another stretch before heading towards the exit. The meeting dais was just in the center of the base outside of the library (and all businesses) so at least she didn't have far to go. As she entered the busy heart of faun culture, she considered that maybe she should have done this later. How was she gonna find anything here!?
It was a busy day as faun prepared for the winter holiday, and the base of the tree was also the most popular place to get together and gab and shop. She walked around the staging area and looked at the log benches and across the area towards the Leaky Cauldron. She could see Gulliver still sitting in there, and considered just going to say hi and doing this wild good chase later. The notes didn't indicate any sort of urgency anyway.
*gfrrffgle*
Kishi put a hand on her tummy. Still hungry, A cookie wasn't enough to sate her demanding stomach. Figuring she could just pick this up in a bit, when the meeting area was less busy and she could better look for clues for whatever it was she was supposed to find, she headed off to the kitchen for some leftovers from the nights evening feast.
Maybe she just wanted more of that delicious potato bake Bronson had made.

Gulliver was nearing the bottom of a second mug of the the flavour of the day. He was just as nervous as when this whole thing started, he fingered the edge of a flower and then looked up and out the window of the pub. He caught the sight of Kishi entering the kitchen and he felt disheartened, maybe she hadn't found the flowers he'd left at her door. Or maybe she just didn't want to do the lil clue solving he'd left for her. Straightening up a little he looked towards where he'd left the one flower in a planter near the edge of the dias, it was still there. Gulli knew kishi could put together clues, she was a smart fauness, he loved that about her. He dropped back down into his seat and finished off the last of his drink and pushed the mug away a bit, he propped his chin onto his hand with his elbow on the table and stared at the potted flowers in front of him. He'd wait a while longer but he couldn't stay all night, after all he didn't think Mojo would like that.

"Hey there, Sonny. Pretty girl stand ya up, did she? Or are those fer me?" Mojo approached the Captain of the guard and set a full tankard of ale in front of him. He also dropped a small plate of various holiday breads. "Straight from the bakery. Thought ya might like a taste. They're pre'e good." The brewmaster plucked a slice of banana bread off the plate and tossed it in his mouth. "Mhm, tasteh. Twy some." He said with his mouthful.
After a swallow, Mojo stuck around. "So how's yer hunt goin'? I hear things are gettin' pretty crazy on the mainland these days. Then again, things are crazy here too." His boisterous laugh rang through the pub.

Gulliver looked up without sitting up just yet, he spied Mojo approaching him and smiled half heartedly at his jest. "I guess, I don't know to be honest, I set up a little treasure hunt of sorts to surprise her and I don't know if she is doing it or even found the starting clue flower for it. I finally get up the courage to tell her how I feel about her and now I'm starting to worry."he stopped talking to take a gulp of the ale Mojo had brought and then tried a shortbread cookie from the plate. "Mmm these are good,, thanks" he said around the mouthful and popped a second in his mouth before Mojo started talking again.
"It's pretty labourous, that wretched pae that attacked seems to be hiding in that city of theirs, at least i think so anyways, we cant find him and we've been scouring the isle. It may be crazy here but then, I don't think it's stopped being crazy since the attack on our home." he smiled a lil more easily and took another gulp of the ale. Mojo was easy to talk to, Gulliver felt it was one of the big perks of the pub.

The brewmaster took a seat opposite the captain of the rangers. "Seems to me the only surefire way of admittin' yer love is just say so to 'er face. Then she will know fer sure." Mojo plucked one of the pumpkin bread pieces and popped it in his mouth. With a bit of a mouthful, he laughed and then washed it down with some ale.
"Have confidence, sonny. You lead armies, surely you have the strength to confront a young lass. They aren't that scary." He winked and reached across the table to pat Gulliver's shoulder.
Rising to his hooves, Mojo picked up the empty tankards, and before he headed back to the bar, he quipped, "I have faith in ye."

The captain thought about what Mojo said to him. He did lead fauns, but sometimes he thought ladies were more intimidating especially when he really really liked them. But even with that thought in mind, he knew Mojo was right, and Gulliver knew he'd waited longer then he should to admit it. He stood from his table leaving the flower pot behind. He motioned to Mojo to please leave the flowers there as he left out door and fetched the flower from it's spot. He walked into the kitchen, he looked about and found her sitting at the feast table with her back to him. He took a deep breath and then walked up behind her setting the stem of the flower on her left shoulder so the bud hung over her shoulder. "Found something that reminds me of you" he said quietly.

Kishi jumped and dropped her forkful of delicious cheesy potato. She made a little squeak and knee-jerk reacted to something brushing the fur on her shoulder. She immediately thought spider so her instinct told her to jump and freak out. It took a moment, but when she saw the flower petals float down to the table and land on her food, she realized it wasn't a spider. Gulliver stood over her holding a pink rose.
"You found it!!! I was looking in the meeting area and I couldn't find that one. I figured I'd look later, but you spotted it before me. Are you playing in the treasure hunt too? I saw some flowers on your table when I peeked at ya and figured you were gathering clues too. Did that one have a clue? Wait, is this a race?"
She wiped her hands on her fur (so lady-like) and rose to her hooves so she could proper greet her friend. "Are you hungry? Or have you eaten already? This potato bake is the best." She motioned at the seat beside the one she had occupied on the bench.

Gulliver hadn't really expected Kishi to startle so easily, but held his stance even when she did. "It was over by the stage in the climbing vines" he told her and moved to give her the flower with it's clue on it. "I'm not playing in the hunt too, the flower pot doesn't have a clue on it, but this one does." He saw her motion beside herself as she continued to speak. "I had some snacks over at Mojo's place, I'm good for food, thanks though" he took a seat a small smile on his lips as he watched her excitement, he was debating foregoing the entire end of the hunt. Gulliver sat in silence with his debate for a full minute watching her and then took a breath and continued talking. "Kishi... I'm not playing the hunt... I..." he stopped a moment settling his nerves "I set it up." there he said it and now he waited for her reaction.
