It is a familiar red, but not quite Rise & Shine's patriarch: it is his son My Very Best representing their tribe today, eyes sharp and shoulders stiff. In addition to all the snacks and samples they have laid out for the market revelers, Rise & Shine's booth also sports a flat slab resting on two large rocks, and a sleepy salamander nestled amongst flaming sticks in a dug-out pit. A neat pile of banana leaves is stacked next to the rocks, as is a leather pouch of chicken eggs. A closer look reveals their resident birdbrain, Pull Through, tending to a couple of snugly roosting chickens behind the set-up. Eggs are clearly the feature of the day. When kin approach, Best smiles, a bit of a grim but game one. " The game is to crack an egg onto a banana leaf on the hot slate for a sunny-side up egg - the real challenge is in the cracking. Let me show you how we do it in Rise and Shine, the only place where you can get these delectable eggs, and the only tribe with these wonderful chickens." Never too awkward a time for product placement, and the demonstration begins. HOW TO CRACK AN EGG - RISE & SHINE STYLEBest swiftly places a banana leaf on the slab - it hisses as it hits the hot slate. Holding an egg carefully in his mouth, he taps it against a rock and drops it whole on the banana leaf. With his expertise, the shell splits neatly into two and he nimbly picks the large pieces of shell off the now-cooking egg. Once the egg cooks through, he pulls the banana leaf with egg off the slate, and takes an appraising bite of the egg. " It usually needs a bit of practice," he grins, now genuinely, " but you don't have the time for that. Come on, try one now! You'll receive tokens and get to eat your egg too." " Courtesy of Rise & Co!" Pull adds chipperly from the back. CRACK YOUR OWN EGG FOR TOKENS! Roll two D20s to determine how well your kin manages to crack the egg, and edit the post to RP the process! Whatever happens, your kin gets to eat their own cooked egg too. If your rolled total is... 2 to 13: your cracking was abysmal! [1 token] 14 to 30: your cracking was OK! Maybe bits of shell or lost white, but the yolk is intact. [2 tokens] 31 to 40: your cracking was awesome! A clean split with a perfect egg. [3 tokens] You may try cracking an egg ONCE a day per user, and collect your relevant number of tokens in the Token Claim & Exchange thread and update your tracked Tokens! Feel free to chat with My Very Best or Pull Through as you play!

Soothe had to say she was very interested in what was going on here. She'd never really seen a chicken before, after all! She watched the show with delight, and oohed and ahhed over the little yellow circle in the egg when it was done. She'd certainly never seen anything like that before! Weren't eggs fine the way they were? "These are pretty big eggs," she said, eying them nervously. Well, big compared to a songbird's, anyway. Unfortunately for My Very Best and Pull Through, she had a few questions, too. "W-what's it for?" A pretty keepsake? This was a food tribe, right? How had the transparent part turned white? "Is it safe to eat?...That yellow spot isn't the chick, is it?" Soothe could not say she was much of a meat eater. But the contents of that egg did not look like meat. When she was sufficiently reassured, though, she took an egg gingerly and dropped it onto the slab. She tried quickly to pull the shell off, but it still wasn't, um, super successful. There were a few bits of shell left, and some of the clear part had hit her in the chest. But it still looked very pretty, and the whole yolk was still a lovely golden circle. That meant it was fine, right?

Mix knew about Rise and Shine. One of the acha in their employ talked about them often. She really liked the chickens that followed Not For Eats around. They were cute. She also knew that if there were ingredients she wanted, she could go to Rise and try and trade for them. But she hadn't ever actually gone to see them. She usually talked to Eats. But now, here they were. And they were... They were COOKING?! She eagerly bound up to the booth and listened with wide eyes about how to crack an egg. "Oh my motherfather! This sounds amazing!" She bounced in place. "I want to try!" She cried. -rolling- Mix wasn't nearly so good at cracking an egg as the buck running the booth. It cracked mostly in half, but some pieces of shell splintered off and she couldn't pick them out of the cooking egg. She huffed a little that she didn't do it quite right, but when it was time to pull the egg off the fire, she was happy to sample her own egg and chew carefully so she didn't at any shell pieces.

Still somewhat shaken from the nutty adventure earlier, Smash-and-Mash returned to her people, who were demonstrating eggs. She loved eggs. Eggs were great! But she wasn't super good at handling them without getting shell everywhere. The trick today, she decided, was speed. If she was speedy, she could be accurate, so she picked up the egg and swiftly dashed it against a stone. It actually worked!
Kind of.
Mostly.
Sure, some whites had spattered the kin next to her- but she didn't break the yolk, and that was good! Smiling, she waited for her egg to cook. This was good. It was good to be among friends.

Butterfly Kiss looked at what... COULD have been a frying egg. It could have been. But it was a mess of shell and eggy goo. Some of it was running off the banana leaf. There was even gooey egg all over his muzzle. He gave a halfhearted, apologetic grin to the booth runners. Egg and eggshell stuck to his teeth. "I uh..." He turned his head and spat out the yuck before trying again to speak, "I think I need practice."

Upon bird talk, Pull Through nuzzled the hens and scampered over to the doe. " You can do so many things with eggs! We use them in lots of different ways: just plain, like this," he said, shifting her yolk'd banana leaf to a cooler surface, " or with this - " and he slid a sliver of dried fruit alongside it. " Most of the yolks aren't chicks. But..." and he whispered low, " sometimes they are. There're boy chickens but we don't see them very often at all." He bobbed up again with a cheerful nod. " Enjoy the egg! Visit us again or at our store, down by the salt marshes!" " Not bad, Smash!" Best grinned. It was, for Smash-and-Mash, quite a delicate smash. He tossed a generous sprinkling of meaty samples on her banana leaf. Family had to look after their own! He then turned to the poor unfortunate buck with the disastrous egg, and seized the banana leaf's edge, jiggling what remained of the egg back on, and scraping what landed on the hot slate off. A while of sizzling (it really didn't take too long considering the amount of egg there) and he pulled it off to add a hearty piece of preserved meat. " Come back tomorrow for more practice," he said pleasantly, " and enjoy what we have for you anyway. It's all in good fun."

"Hello, boys!" Dark called, beaming happily as she wandered to the slab - what an exciting place this Winter Market was! But, of course, she had to begin with her own tribe's booth - and a nice, warm egg was always a wonderful way to start the day.
At least, she hoped it would be nice. She hadn't really done this before...
*CRACK SPLISH PLOOSH*
"Oops," she said, a little meekly - well, at least the yolk was still intact...barely.
"I'll have to have you crack one for me the next time we're back at the store, dear," she nodded at Best and pulled her leaf off the slab...still, it tasted pretty good.

Smash smells something delicious and, as she follows her nose, catches sight of something that looks a little odd, and also maybe... fun?
With a smirk to herself, she heads over and watches as a few kin break eggs over what looks to be a hot piece of rock. Well. She's certainly never seen anything like that before -- and she's seen a lot in her travels.
"Alright -- why not? I'll give it a go."
She takes an egg and, after a bit of finagling, manages to crack it over the hot rock. A bit of white gets stuck inside the shell but she manages to get most of the egg onto the banana leaf. Not too bad for a first try, she thinks, and grins a bit as she pulls the leaf off the hot stone, careful not to burn herself.
"Mnn... this isn't half bad." Definitely not a bad way to start off the morning, anyway!

A Graceful Dance was enjoying the festival's atmosphere this early morning. He was excited and looking forward to what other kin's have set up when...he got a bit hungry. Maybe it was from the excitement or from waking up early he doesn't know. All he does know is that he should eat. Looking around, he say the famous tribe Rise and Shine cooking up eggs for those to eat. His mouth watered at the smell, BUT...there seems to be a catch. You have to break your own egg apparently and how good you crack the egg earns you tokens. Tokens? He doesn't know what these tokens are for but he knows how to crack an egg. If someone can crack an egg perfectly, it was he. And that's what he did. He perfectly cracked an egg and smiled as he watch the egg cook. He is his dreaming name and him practicing dancing all day helps. He gobbled up his breakfast, took his tokens, and left to see what other booths are there.

14 to 30: your cracking was OK! Maybe bits of shell or lost white, but the yolk is intact. [2 tokens] Well something smelt delicious. Night shine, tipped her head up, sniffing deeply and started to follow the scent to a booth run by a Kimeti buck and a Totoma. She walked over, listening to the pitch and watched the buck expertly crack an egg and then eat it. Well, there was the delicious smell. It couldn't hurt to give this a try. She approached, gathering an egg and banana leaf and eyed the slab. Well she should be able to do this. She set the leaf down, tapped the egg and tried to split it neatly over the leaf. It didn't split right, at least not into two neat pieces of shell. She tried to get the main pieces of shell out but the yolk at least ended up intact. Well, she was okay with this. Free food.

With bitten ankles and a heavily bruised ego, Distant Thunder made his way to the comforting scent of food. Food never let him down. The smell of these eggs cooking up had even whet his appetite a little - he'd always enjoyed them raw, and he was never going to turn down a free meal. " Come, I shall try." He demanded, and set about attempting the technique demonstrated. He was satisfied enough to have the delicious yolk intact, and merely licked the white off himself, unfazed. Food was the one constant. He devoured his handiwork and polished off several samples that laid out invitingly. " ANOTHER!" Thunder insisted, throwing the empty banana leaf down.

This game looked hard; Surefire stood back and watched several other kin make the effort, head cocked to one side and expression thoughtful, before she stepped in to try it herself. She thought she'd taken note of what worked and what failed; thought she'd understood the requirements -- Quote: 2 to 13: your cracking was abysmal! [1 token] The egg broke before she intended, splattered against the stone. Infuriated, she scowled and stomped the mess aside. "This game is rigged!" Not a gentle loser, she stomped off. She wouldn't be coming back here any time soon.

Woodwind had decided to check out a few booths before she opened her own. After walking around she was intrigued about the smells and sounds from this booth. Kin seemed to be cooking eggs? Ah, they were trying to crack the perfect egg, she could do that. Woodwind got her egg and took it in her mouth and tried to crack it gently. The egg plopped out but there were bits of shell all over it. It wasn't too bad but the shell wasn't very tasty. She would be back the next day to try another tactic.
