Caper hummed quietly to himself, gathering up all the materials that they needed today for their art project. Apparently this week they were making gifts, and the discretion was up to them who they gave them to. Obviously Caper was already set on giving his gingerbread ornaments to his mother, but he knew not all of his peers at parents at home. With a bundle of supplies in his arms, the Geist pattered across the room. He blinked once and then twice, noticing Silas to himself not far off. With a smile, Caper spread out the newspaper the caretaker had given them to cover the table so they wouldn't make a mess.

"Are you going to make the ah, orna-nuh-ments for your Dads?" Caper asked with a curiosity, setting up the glitter paints they'd been allowed to take at the edge of his paper. It was only two per child, but the Geist didn't mind sharing at all. "You should grab some other colors so we can have four to use!" he offered brightly, taking the time to make sure the two gingerbread ornaments (a man and snowflake respectfully) were aligned perfectly with the the lines of newspaper text. "I grabbed my favorite colors," he explained, one a bright sparkly purple and the other a softer, pale yellow. Caper continued to smile, completely jazzed about their holiday project.

With the aid of safety scissors, little Silas was slowly and with the upmost care cutting away at construction paper he'd chosen for his craft. He'd made sure to draw the lines for the cutting guides as perfectly as possible with a ruler, which had also taken a very long time. Even now he'd barely made that big a cut into the hardy paper, staring so closely at it, eyes hardly even blinking as he worked. It had to be just right... follow right along the line, and create a perfect side...

So engrossed in his work, he jumped a little when Caper approached, blinking out of his stupor to look over at the paper being spread out next to him. But he relaxed a little more when realizing who it was. The other boy had been rather kind and friendly to the nervous and reserved Litch. Unused to having company with him, he watched Caper, surprised when questions were aimed his way. Looking down at the partially cut paper in his hands, he gave a very tiny nod in reply. Yes... he was making cut outs for his fathers, who he hoped would like something like this. He'd never given gifts, as he never knew anyone to give gifts to. So... he was out of his element, and honestly a little lost in what to give them. Hopefully this would be ok.

Peeking over at what Caper had supplies wise, he felt a bit embarrassed by his own scarce picking of just paper and pen. Blushing gently, he bashfully looked down to his paper again, slowly setting down the scissors. Caper was right. He needed more than just this for a successful gift. Looking at the colours already chosen, he stared at the purple... his favorite colour. With all the supplies, though, little Silas was a bit overwhelmed, and didn't really know what to pick! cheeks heating up more with embarrassment, he fiddled nervously with the edge of his sweater, lips pressing as he eyed the supplies off to the other side of the room. "s-s..shoul..d.. I-...I ge..get more...gl...glitt-er..?" he asked the geist, for some means of further guidance. After all he seemed to know what he was doing.

Caper tilted his head, unsure what Silas seemed worried about. He fluffed up his long hairs that fell over into face, tossing them back to the side. "Only if you think your Dads like glitter," the Geist settled on, pulling his chair a little closer so he could kneel upon it for a bit more height. "I was thinking then we could have double the colors to use, both of yours and both of mine, but if you don't want to you don't have to." The boy smiled a little wider, lips thin.

Moving from Silas' expression to his craft, Caper hummed the slightest. "Are you making paper snowflakes, or?" He wasn't quite sure what the other was after, but in any situation he thought that more glitter was a given. But, Caper did suppose Silas knew his fathers better than he, especially since he had never met them before. "I mean, you could write Happy Solstice on it, or their names, or your name. I think the caretakers will help." He taped his short nails on the edge of the table, picking up the yellow color. "I'm putting Mom on one of mine I think, and then my name on the other. That way we both have something to hang up."

Share the colours... nodding slowly, he eyed the purple one more time, before he slipped off his chair to get up. Smoothing out his sweater, he looked to the paper he'd been working on, giving a meek nod again, "y-yes, a snow..flake.." he repeated for confirmation. He'd seen a sample of one done before and it had looked so pretty!

but something to write on it...? he hadn't thought of that.... As Caper gave some examples himself, he mulled over the options presented. They were nice, but... he still wasn't sure. For now, he'd get the glitter. With a soft 'e-excuse me' he wandered over to the supplies to hesitantly pluck up a few extra colours. A light blue, silver, and a pink. Returning back quickly, he placed them down, looking to Caper for approval or displeasure. "a-are...th-hese ok...?" he asked nervously, settling back into his seat.

Caper spared the shortest of glances to the colors that Silas brought. "Yeah. They're new colors," the Geist confirmed brightly, running his fingers over the newspaper once more. "Snowflakes are nice," the boy continued to babble, humming a little as he fell into a content zone for working on his crafts.

Sticking out his tongue a little in concentration, Caper began to apply the yellow glitter to his ornament. He focused intently on the letters, happy that 'Mom' was a very simple word to memorize. He had confirmed it with the caretakers, and with slightly shaky hands (for he had to squeeze hard), he made a rather gigantic M across the ornament. "Do you need help cutting your snowflake?" the Freshling asked, scooting forwards on his seat to get a fraction closer to the paper as if the distance had somehow hindered him. With renewed vigor, he worked on the little 'o'. "I can ah, hold it or something while you cut!"

The approval of the colours was a token of relief, making his shoulders not so tense, as he got settled again. Snowflakes were so pretty... they looked even fluffy sometimes! and they were so soft and gentle...

Picking back up the paper and safety scissors, he returned to slowly and carefully cutting away, that intense focus returning in his face as he tried to cut perfectly along the drawn line, making the process all the more longer than really necessary. Caper had managed to get far more done in that timespan than he, due to his excessive perfectionism. When the offer for help was extended his way, he gave pause to his work, and blinked over to what the other Freshling had managed to get done. Surprised by the completed craft, he looked back at his own that was nowhere near completion. Cheeks warming with embarrassment, he gave a timid nod and a faint 'yes please...' gingerly handing over the partially cut paper piece for the Gesit to hold.

With the added hold, he was able to focus now on just the cutting, which aided in his work time, no longer needing to keep conscious of keeping the paper steady as he followed the marks along it.

Caper was more than happy to assist, abandoning his glitter-writing before the final 'm'. "Right here," he murmured to himself, pinning the paper to the edge of the table, his fingers safe at the top as the majority hung off for Silas to comfortably cut.

"It's a pretty snowflake," the Geist informed as he watched Silas work with wide eyes, keeping his fingers back as they rotated it. In reality, Caper saw very little wrong with Silas if anything at all. He wasn't an impatient kid, and nothing Silas did came off as overly weird. He helped because he wanted to, and with delight he observed as the project moved along.

As Silas finished, he held up the sliver before handing it out to Silas. "Open it up?" he suggested, eager to see what the result of their labor had been. He brought his hands together in his lap, spinning the slightest in his chair to face the blond better.

With Caper's aided assistance, it made the cutting all the more easier! Especially with how the other freshling knew just when to turn the paper for the scissors to follow the trail. Nice and smooth, with perfect edges. When the last portion was snipped, he slowly pulled back to withdraw the scissors from the paper. There....

Setting down the scissors, he peeked over to Caper as he was encouraged to see their handiwork, giving a hesitant little nod. Yes... it was the moment of truth now. With a small inhale, he carefully took the folded, and cut paper, to gingerly unfold it, making sure not to pull or tug any of the edges. When it was unfurled, it revealed a rather lovely design! it wasn't too simple nor too intricate. Turning it a few times to look at the different points the folds had provided, he gave a ghost of a smile, the corners of his mouth just barely lifting. It looked really nice.

"th..thank.. you... Caper.." he quietly repeated, shyly keeping his eyes on the snowflake.

He smiled soft, nodding. "You're welcome, it's really pretty Silas," Caper informed with a bright expression, turning back to his ornament as he put the final touches on the one for Evan. With careful hands, he pushed it towards the back of the paper so nothing would mess with the drying glitter glue. The freshling sat back in his chair, picking up the yellow glitter stick again.

"I think there's ah, a, string if you want them to be able to hang it," the Geist offered, trying to be helpful but he went back to his other ornament. This one was for himself, and immediately he began to add splotches of color, feeling confident in getting a little crazy with the design. "Or, they could just hang it on the wall like that." A smile still graced his lips, trying to be helpful for his friend. He set down the yellow, moving onto the pink Silas had brought back earlier.

The praise made him blush all the more, drawing the snowflake close to his chest as a small tickle of delight made his stomach flutter. Hopefully his fathers would think so too...~ the idea of a string was an excellent one, and he nodded in agreement with the addition. Then the snowflake could be hung somewhere, and twirl about freely.

Peeking over to Caper's work again, he quietly returned the compliment, "Yours... is nice too, Caper.. Very pretty." it was so sparkly, and the colours were so vivid and eye catching. Never having worked with glitter before, he was a little in awe of the state it was in. But having sneaked a few peeks as Caper had applied it, he decided he too would give it a go.

Taking the glue, he gently began to smear it along the snowflake that was now pressed on the table. His attempts to make the paper smooth were futile, and the ability to make the glue strokes even were impossible just as well. Reaching for the pink glitter he'd brought with him, he carefully tipped it to try and sprinkle some on the snowflake.... but a large portion spilled out, making him gasp very quietly, and jump a little. Eyes wide, he stared at the mound of glitter now sitting on the snowflake, quickly looking to Caper with great distress, "Cc-c..c-caper...?"

Caper was drawn into his work, large ears shifting ever the slightest as he registered his friend's words. "Thank you," he accepted freely, the entirety of his concentration on his ornament as he got into the zone. Sure, this one was for himself, but it still had to hang in their apartment and for that reason he had to make sure it was extra nice.

As Silas' worried words, he turned his head slowly, long red locks falling into his face. He pushed them back, growing alarm crossing his expression. "Oh! D-did it break?" the Geist boy asked, clearly seeing the wrong in the situation but not knowing exactly how to proceed. Surely Silas didn't do it on purpose, and always being truthful was the best?!

"I can help you! We'll fix it!" the pink-eyed boy promised, his small glitter-covered hands touching Silas' arm gently. "Uhm. We can put it back in somehow!"

So distraught, his eyes began to sting a little as water began to build, his heart racing as he stared at the mess he'd created. The bottle of remaining glitter had gone down significantly! Looking to Caper in what to do, even more stressed as he realized that tons of the glitter was now caked on his hands from his attempts to wipe it up! What had he done!?

Lips pulling in as he tried not to get too upset, he looked down at the mess with quickly flickering eyes, trying to find a solution to the problem. Get the glitter back into the bottle... but it was everywhere, and it was sticking to his hands!

But as he stared at the snowflake, he noticed some of the glitter was sliding off the raised sides that hadn't any glue on them. Sliding off... sniffling very faintly, he looked to Caper, "p-p..pap..er..." he squeaked, remembering something he'd seen one of his fathers do before. Reaching for a fresh, unburdened sheet, he placed it at the edge of the table, "c--...c..can you... sweep-sweep it on..-p-please.. Caper...?" he asked slowly, holding the paper steady.

Oh! Yes, that was totally something he knew how to do, and Caper was vaguely aware of another time his mother had done something similar, usually with the crumbs on the dinner table. The Geist boy nodded, pushing back his sleeves so he wouldn't continue to drag them through all the glitter that had amassed.

With gentle strokes, Caper pushed what he could towards Silas. As the snowflake grew more and more visible, he picked it free with delicate hands and set it aside before using the table surface as a guide to push the majority towards the other boy. A faint sheen still clung to the table, but an attempt had at least been made on their behalf. His eyes drifted to Silas' snowflake, and he sucked in his lower lip as he lifted it up. "Maybe..."

He flicked the little piece of paper, watching some of the larger globs of glitter float away from Silas' snowflake. It still clung to the majority of the glue, but it was a bit better, and with as much respect as he could muster, he set it back down on the clean portion of the table.

"I-is it okay, or is it icky?" he asked in regards to the glitter, leaning over to look at what Silas had. If it was clean, maybe they could reuse it?

As the surplus of glitter was gathered onto the fresh sheet of paper, Silas did well to keep it balanced to prevent any further spilling of the material. With the table getting cleared off by the second, he was able to relax a tiny bit, glad to see that it wasn't a complete disaster.

With the gathered glitter, he carefully lifted the paper, and bowed it to let the ends touch one another. In this cylinder position he was easily able to pour it into the canister from which it'd originated from, returning it with the portion remaining. There was a percentage that kept on the paper, though, but that was ok. Exhaling softly with relief, he peeked over to the snowflake that Caper was now trying to adjust. Tilting his head curiously as he watched the other freshling work, perking up a little from the flicking, surprised to see a small burst of the sparkles leave the decoration. It was so kind of Caper to try and salvage it from the overabundance of glitter...

Nodding gently, he gave a tiny, faint smile, "i-it's ok." he confirmed. But the eyeing that the geist was making to the glitter they'd cleaned up had Silas press his lips slightly. He was hesitant to use the stuff again... and looking down at his hands, his brows knit slightly from the sparkling and glistening that twinkled along his skin. It.. was clinging to him... Looking back to the snowflake, deciding perhaps that it was ok with its lopsided sprinkling, he peeked over at his friend, "s-string..?" he asked, in reference to the suggestion posed earlier.

With wide eyes, Caper watched Silas work, his toes pointed into the carpet as he leaned far on the edge of his chair. Thankfully, the idea seemed to work well and the majority of the glitter was saved. He exhaled, having shared a portion of Silas' anxiety there for a moment. "String," the boy echoed, twisting in his seat to glance towards the craft table.

Caper didn't even think if that was a question or a suggestion before bounding off. He returned with a long strand, placing it on the table. "You uhm, have a lot of glitter on your flake now. Maybe you could glue it on top, or you could tie a loop-y." Glad their previous crises was adverted, with similar glitter covered fingers, Caper picked up his ornament with Evan from the pre-made string it came with. "You can hang it with your other Solstice decorations at home. Or your Dads can."
