Aella paused in her efforts to make a dent on the mound of homework that dominated her desk in her room. Instead of continuing to plink away at her math assignment she stared out the window and idly tapped her pencil against her notepad. The end of the year was quickly approaching and it seemed now was as good as any time to get a little introspective.
So much had happened this year. Normally she just blended into the scenery but this year, she felt like she'd taken a more active role in her own life. She'd managed to step out of her shell more than she'd ever before and actually met some people along the way. More than that she finally had an idea of what she wanted to do with her life. She loved to read, loved acquiring knowledge of all kinds so why not put that to use? Not in any sort of showy way, although she wondered for a moment if she could make a living as some sort of trivia champion but immediately put that notion away. No, she wanted to help preserve knowledge, make sure it made it's way into the hands of future generations.
She could do that in several ways, but honestly the job of just someone who preserved books sounded boring. She wanted to be able to help people too, so honestly there was only one job that would make her happy. She'd become a librarian. She'd still get the quite she craved among the stacks of books, but she'd also, when asked, be able to help people find just the right book they needed. Maybe in Asphodel...
She bit her lower lip and looked down at her half completed math assignment and erased the stray marks from her pencil and her incessant tapping. Another thought occured to her as she finished, maybe she'd even ask to be put in a double room next year...after all she'd come this far out of her shell, why not go a little bit further.
