User Image As exciting and activity filled as the Solstice celebrations and welcoming event were, Fig's curiosity had him wandering away from the hustle and bustle of the goings on to wander down streets that he'd never set foot on before, lined with shops and businesses that he had never known of prior to taking this side jaunt. An art gallery, a cafe, a bookshop, a clothing store, they were a few places for him to maybe check out later. He'd have all the time in the world, of course, not everything had to be done today. For now, the Fey was pretty content to just be taking in the town for a little bit. The festivities were in full swing and weren't exactly going to wrap up before he got around to venturing back, so Fig was going to enjoy taking a bit of a break from the crush of crowds.

A clump of pedestrians pushed past him, likely heading towards the celebrations back behind him, causing him to side step and press himself against a building's facade to allow them to pass unhindered. "Excuse me," Fig said as the chattering group passed, offering a nod and a slight smile to the one or two who did a quick double take in his direction. Across the street from him, a store front caught his attention. A consignment shop! That'd be worth looking into. Having to essentially leave the majority of his belongings back with his folks Above, his dorm was mighty spartan and didn't have much in the way of things that gave it that personal, lived in touch. With the walkway now clear and the street quiet, the Fey made his way across to peer through the large window at the front. He came to notice a smaller sign was taped into the window now that he had gotten in closer. It was rather straight to its point: 'Antiques inside - Ask for Evan'. Alright, sign. Duly noted.

Pushing the door open, Fig glanced upward at the jingle of the bell overhead. Folding his wings behind him to minimize his occupied space, and to lessen the chance he accidentally knock into something or knock something over, he gazed around the shop interior. Various and sundry pieces of furniture were nicely arranged into complimentary configurations. Larger standalone pieces and display shelves lined one side. An employee greeted him from behind the desk the was just to the left of the door, a chirpy older demon woman, and encouraged him to go browse. "Yes, ma'am. Thank you, I will." Most of the stuff was quite nice looking, even if some were a little dated or with...eyebrow raising patterns. A good deal of the items and furniture in the front didn't appear to be too old and everything had been well cared for. So, their original owners were selling these on, huh? He pondered over the Nightmares who used to sit on the chairs, who sipped from those cups, or what letters they wrote on the desks or what meals they shared around the tables. What stories could these things tell?

Evan was content that she was back on track with the timeline she had set for herself. She had been bold inviting Caper in (and if she dared to describe it as so, spontaneous), and while her boy was the brightest light in her life, there was an amount of anxiety it carried to know she had yet to make good progress towards her aspirations. So, once she had managed enough to sustain a few months rent, Evan had put her name down to lease a portion of the local store. It wasn't her usual haunt, but she had worked here briefly in the past and the owners were nice. Her portion of the store was more of an awkward add-on in the back, the arch way physically separating her from the rest. There formally was a door, but apparently once they learned they could replace their empty back store room with floor space, it had been dismissed.

Her space was tidy compared to the main floor, and Evan was happy she got a lot of reign in arranging her wares. The Imp hadn't intended to come in today, but Caper had opted to go to the Solstice's activities with his classmates so for today at least had some time to herself to catch up on cataloging and dusting her wares. Business was slow here, but she knew she'd be a fool to think antiques was a booming, quick paced business in Below. Possibly the inclusion of Above would change things in the future, but Evan hinged on being practical. She wasn't holding her breath that things would magically heal over and be perfectly harmonious just because a treaty was reached. The woman dusted off her pants, having changed out her usual heavy dress for something she could move more easily in. It was high waisted and with three sets of snaps, and her loose blouse billowed over the top and over her shoulders in her favorite shade of burgundy. Being a mother had changed nothing about her fashion sense.

Having not intended to be operating today (for the shopkeepers were find with taking her money and making transactions in her absence when needed), Evan didn't may much attention to the customer that entered the store. Her large ears drooped the slightest as she scowled in concentration at her pile of new acquisitions that needed sorting. Most Nightmares wandering into the shop were looking for cheap second-hand anyways and not antique knickknacks for their shelves.
