With all the festivities going on, one would think it near impossible to find privacy anymore, unless in the dorms. The place was thriving with excitement and energy, echoed by the joyous songs and screams that traversed the corridors, coupled with the pattering of eager feet. But Gaius was taking a brief break from all the commotion to tend to something far more quiet and delicate. But something he was more than thrilled about.
In each arm, the mutant held a potted plant. The ceramic pots were all decorated from the owner before, each also bore a tiny sproutling in the center of the tamped down soil. It was exciting, for the Geist, to have new members to add to the hidden away little garden he kept in a more secluded area of the school grounds. While he wasn't entirely the secretive type, he was aware how hard it would be to keep a garden safe and sound out in the open of potentially prying or mischievous eyes.
Walking carefully through the hallways, he'd peek through the windows that lined the walls along the way, making idle notes about the presence of those around, and any who may be nearing his precious treasure stash. But everyone was entranced by the partying going on, having little to no interest in any location that didn't supply prizes and food. Good, good. Just as he neared the large double doors, he perked a little as he felt... something adjust under his sweater, making him peek down at his chest, and give a little smile, "won't be long, promise." he quietly whispered.

After being dragged all over the grounds during the festival, Malachi took a change to go catch a breather. The little Fallen was getting use to crowds and such a little better now -- very little, but still it was progress! -- but he really needed a little peace and quiet. Plus he wanted to get his new bird home and also pay a visit to his other pets. He adored them so and thought the little creatures might be feeling a little lonely. After reassuring Hailey that he'd be back in about thirty minutes at the very least, he headed off to their room.... crazy, snappy bird in hand. Well, cage, really.
After getting the new little critter settled in and spending time with his familiars, Malachi decided that Chester had spent too much time alone and cooped up. But just so Hailey wouldn't freak out by him being around, Malachi hid his little flitterat on his head, under his hat. Yeah. That would work, right? Though the feeling of nibbling on hair prompted a quick grab of a box of raisins. Slipping a few up-top to the rat, Malachi slid the box into his pocket and headed back to find Hailey and the other two.
Just as the Freshling was about to slip outside, he noticed a familiar form down the hallway by another door. Gaius. Hmmm... he looked as if he was sneaking about. What was he up to? Not wanting to disturb him, Malachi was ready to head through the door he was stopped at, but then he noticed something in the other boy's arms as he seemed distracted by something. Curious all the more, he quietly yet quickly he made his way over and peered over the little mutant's shoulder. "Whatcha got there, Gaius?" he said softly.

Prepped and ready to sneak out the unattended door, Gaius perked up when he heard that soft little voice he'd come to recognize. Peering back over his shoulder to the peeking Malachi, he gave his trademark grin. With a few side glances, as if checking their surroundings for anyone else who may be nearby, he lowered his own voice to match the pink Fallen's, "Can you keep a secret, Malachi?" he asked with a wry expression shifting on his face, hugging the little potted plants a little tighter.
It was in that second after his question that his shirt also wriggled with movement that was quite unnatural for it to be done by him! but... what else could have caused it? Without waiting for an answer, the Geist gave a little tip of his head for Malachi to follow him, as he nudged open the double doors.
Luckily, it wasn't one of the main doors, but a side door used to traverse to other parts of the schools grounds. With his plants in tow, he kept peeking back to make sure his winged friend was still following him, while checking out the area where ever they went for any eyes that may spot them. But he continued along a rather barren path, that lead to not so exciting parts of the schools territory. However, rounding a corner, and pushing past some lined, massive bushes that were blocking direct view, and part of a wing of the building blockading the other side, revealed what the goal was. Settled towards the back of the little hidden spot was a small chunk of land that'd been tilled to upturn the soil, and tiny sprouts bursting through. Walking over proudly, Gaius looked to Malachi for reaction, "This is my garden."

As the other boy peered back at him, grinning, Malachi found himself all the more curious as to what he was up to! He couldn't help following Gaius' lead, looking about... not that he really knew what he was looking for. The soft question asked of him prompted a quick head nod. "Sure I can~... "
And before there was a chance to ask why, a wriggling caught his attention. It took a mere second for him to know what that was about, Chester reminding him that he was up top as well. As the Geist quickly headed out the doors, the Fallen followed after him. They passed crowds and games and other such things going on about the festival, leaving many questions to continue running about his head. Where were they going? Why was he being so secretive? What kind of critter was hiding in Gaius' shirt? So many questions. As they creeped past the Nightmares enjoying the festival, the fact that he was going to be meeting back up with Hailey later than he promised made the little guy cringe. He was going to be in so much trouble!
The further away they got from things, the more he pondered what they were doing out this way. It was quite solitary and lonely... What was out here? Sticking close behind Gaius as they began pushing past bushes and other foliage, the sight to behold once they emerged was breathtaking! Malachi couldn't help 'ooooing' and 'awing' over the different plants that were about and the little sprouts popping up from the soil. His little mouth hung open as he took everything in before whispering softly. "This is amazing..." His eyes lit up and he couldn't help kneeling down to run his fingers over the leaves of the small sprout next to him. "You're garden is amazing~"

Watching with amusement and a pleased grin at his plant buddies response to the hidden little sanctuary, he crouched down to place the two potted plants down near the tilled soil. Standing back up, he peeked back from where they came, just in case, before giving the place a once over to make sure nothing was amiss. "Thanks. Wanna get lots of plants back here for it. Oh." with a rather mischevious tint to his smile now, something very familiar of his kind, he carefully reached down his sweater to gingerly pull out the green and white striped salamander that'd been taking refuge within.
Holding it in his two hands, he held it out to Malachi, smile spread wide, "Lookit this little guy. I wanna make her a little pool so she can stay here sometimes." he proposed, "I think she'd like it here. Fly-y fish, too." the salamander stared at Malachi with those beady, bright green eyes, blinking slowly from time to time. It was very calm and docile, little flame at the tip of its tail flickering away peacefully.
Staring at the amphibian, it was in a delayed reaction that Gaius crouched down next to the Fallen, "wanna pet or hold her?" he offered, before peeking up at the little flitterat that was accompanied already with the winged freshling. If he had a familiar already, then surely he must like them, and know how to properly handle them.

Malachi couldn't be more thrilled about this hidden away treasure of a garden and the fact that he was now privy to its existence. He beamed a smile to Gaius, eyes lit up while still taking in the wonder. "I'm collecting lots of plants from the festival. I need a few more for my plan, but I could help you get more if you want... maybe?" he offered softly.
But then he raised his gaze and his attentions were drawn to the little creature that was now in his friend's hold. "Heehee... I knew you had a little critter when I saw your shirt wriggle earlier." He smiled at the adorable little reptile, then reached up, pulling his hat off his head to reveal the rodent atop his noggin. "My little guy came along for the trip, too. heehee. Don't worry... he behaves... errr.. most of the time." He tucked his hat into his pants pocket... as best it would fit, anyways.
When Gaius knelt down, offering to let Malachi hold his cute little salamander, Malachi couldn't have smiled any wider if he tried. "Y--yes please~ I've only gotten to see these guys a couple times, but I've read about them. She's so cute!" he squeaked, giggling a bit before lightly running his fingers along her back. Sitting down in a clear spot, he carefully took up the small critter in his hands. His eyes were focused on her as she seemed to contently stay on the palms of his hands. "What's her name? The little guy nesting in my hair is Chester. You can hold him if you want to~... though, he does n** at finger tips sometimes." the features on his face scrunching some before smirking just a bit.

Giving the fallen a light grin, he shook his head, "you love plants as much as me, so you should keep a bunch for yourself, too." he assured with a smile spreading wider.
With the small flitterat revealed further, his pleased smile cut along his face all the more. "You can't tell anyone about this place either." he teased light heartedly, reaching to offer a hand for the rat to scurry onto. With Malachi's warning, he shook his head, "that's ok. I wanna work with all kinds of animals and stuff when I grow up, so I gotta get used to their habits." Holding it carefully, as the exchange of familiars was done, he held it in both palms, and lifted them for a better look. He'd not seen one of these up close, either! Gingerly shifting the critter onto one hand, he held it closer to his chest for support as his now free hand reached to pet at the leathery wings it sported on its back. So cute...~~~ Face softening a great deal, he got distracted in how absorbed he was with the foreign familiar, as usual realizing in a delayed fashion Malachi's question.
Blinking up, he stared at the salamander that was now settled comfortably on her tummy with her tiny arms pulled in, eyes closed contently from the strokes along her spine. A name... right. Puckering his lips in thought, he hummed softly and knelt again to stare at her some more. "I... haven't thought one up yet.." he admitted slowly. Head tilting back and forth as he mulled, he quietly mumbled a few names, and sounds aloud, "Mmm.... Daiii.... Trayyy......" he trailed off, before perking up a little, "Caroline...?" he slowly let the syllables fall out

There wasn't much he could say in response to that, so the little fallen smiled softly and gave a nod in return. it felt really nice to have someone else who understood his love of plants like Gaius did.
A giggle of amusement escaped his mouth as the other boy told Chester he couldn't tell about the secret garden. Malachi took a moment to ponder who Chester would tell if that were something he could do. And as his rat scurried over into the others hold, he focused his attention at the adorable little critter in his own. She was so small and cute! It was exciting to finally have the chance to hold a salamander. They were always a little creature that seemed so fascinating. Malachi cooed softly to her as she seemed to just relax his his hand while his fingers ran along her spine gently.
The question he had asked had seemed to catch Gaius off-guard, even causing the fallen to laugh a little bit. When the other knelt to get a closer look at the critter, Malachi held his hands up a bit more during the inspection and debate. The muttering of a few random names was interesting. The train of thought belonging to someone other than himself was always a curious thing. The questioning tone with the final one made him give an encouraging nod. "I think that's a really pretty name for her. Hi Caroline~"got some brainpower back after the orp XD

"Caroline it is, then." he declared with a small nod of further affirmation. Pleased with himself, he straightened back up, and marched over to his little plot of land again. With Chester in his hands, he extended his arms to show the little rodent his hard work, "What do you think, Chester? I'll have the whole place filled some day." it would be difficult to manage, but with the rate he was going, he wasn't too worried about it. Soon his garden would be flourishing with all sorts of plants!
He'd even been pondering on finding some vegetable and fruit seeds to plant... then he could hang around and eat fresh produce for snacks when he got peckish!
Hovering the flitterat near one of the blossoms of a flower that was in full bloom, "don't they smell nice?"
Caroline was so very content, that she was being lulled to sleep from the combination of Malachi's tenderness via voice and touch. The flame on her little tail tip grew smaller to indicate her more sedated state, head even bobbing as she started to doze off in his clutches.

When the name was made official, Malachi gave a smile and agreeing nod in return. He was really enjoying the company of the little critter and was grateful that he was trusted with her well being... even for a short time.
His eyes followed Gaius as he moved around with Chester, smiling all the more as his flitterat showed interest in the plants as they were shown to him. There was even a small squeaking from the rat as if to reply when he was asked a question. It made the freshling giggle. Chester was a fun little critter for sure.
Pink eyes fell to the now sleeping salamander in his hands. Careful not to wake her, little fingers continued their gentle trail down her back. In a soft whisper, Malachi asked a question as he looked back up to his friend "How did you find this little place? It's such a hidden little spot." He didn't roam about too much, himself, so finding a place like this is something that probably wouldn't have ever happened to him.
